Chapter 3: Snake's Temptation
Arissa doesn't know what to expect: she had not closed the window during an oncoming storm or the fact that there's a golden dragon in the apartment. The said dragon would have been regal-looking if he had not threatened to eat her and the baby.
But he stood there, tall and proud where she had to crane her neck to meet those reptilian eyes.
What surprised her was his ability to talk without opening his mouth. Could this be an ability? And his voice sounded masculine with that gruff accented tone. If she had told Vinn about what happened, she doubt that he would believe her.
Sometimes, he would arrive home and leave the early hours before she could stir from slumber.
::So, this is a human's den. Very interesting.:: his voice echoed in her mind. Arissa clutched her stomach, hoping that the baby would not kick when there's a golden dragon present. He was inspecting the furniture, slithering out his forked tongue to taste the air and began sniff.
Turning his head to her direction, he walked on all fours until Arissa's back touched the wall. He was taking in her scent before lowering his head to her swollen belly. Tilting his head, he emitted a sound that was a mix of a purr and a growl.
::Do you know who I am?:: he asked, eyes not leaving the swollen belly. Just by his appearance alone, Arissa wracked her brain to remember where she had seen his kind before. Her eyes widened by the news she had watched:
Godzilla.
The battle at Boston.
Monster Zero.
"Y-you're Ghidorah...King Ghidorah," she whispered, slowly straightening her posture. Ghidorah smiled and shook his entire body from what looked like sand. As much as she was afraid of the situation she was in, it was not like everyday a former creature that came out of the ice would be here in her apartment. Speaking of which...
"Where are your other heads?" she asked hesitantly. It was indeed true that the news had showed the false titan to have three heads like the hydra in mythology but the being in front of her only had a single head with a scar around his neck like a meshed necklace, one tail and wings all for himself.
Despite staring down at her smaller frame, her face was slightly flushed just by how close his snout was to her stomach. Was he going to eat her?
In fact, he reminded her so much of the dragons she had read from fantasy novels, mostly The Hobbit by J.R.R. Tolkien. His appearance matched his voice that sent shivers down her spine.
::I survived the blast ONLY by a fraction,:: Ghidorah explained, rattling his tail at the thought of something irritating. If she wasn't so scared, it would be funny. ::Looks like our generative healing regrew most of my body but...I have a feeling my brothers weren't so lucky.::
She wondered if it was her imagination or he sounded sad mentioning his brothers.
Since he was in the apartment, she hoped that he would not do anything that might make Vinn angry. Last time she forgot to clean the dust on the coffee table, he flipped out and locked her out of the bedroom until she's done cleaning.
"C-can you turn back into your original size?" she asked, watching him browsing the living room. Ghidorah lets out a low growl. ::No, I can't. Shifting my mass into this size required a lot of energy and almost all of my powers. I am not certain when will I'll be able to but for now, I will reside her for the time being.::
All she could think about was why here? Why couldn't he stay in a zoo or even the desert that could camouflage his scales?
Crossing her arms, she ventured, "So, I take it you must have worked up an appetite? There's leftover rice with chicken in the kitchen."
The golden dragon nodded, heading into the kitchen to devour most of the leftovers without complains. It was so surreal, Arissa had to sit on the sofa to eased the aches that she was experiencing. From how the creature was communicating with her, she wondered if it was a psychic or telepathic ability.
So far, the baby had not kicked her ever since Ghidorah entered the apartment at an abnormal height of an average man. There was so much to ask but she held her tongue. She recalled Vinn and her family would typically tell her to shut up because not everyone wants to answer stupid questions.
If she could get away with not asking question since her academic years, it would be just the same with Ghidorah.
...
Ghidorah had never tasted anything so divine!
The softness of the rice, rich sauce along with egg to compliment it and the crispiness of the meat. No brothers to share the food or collecting a great bulk of prey to satisfy his hunger. As for the human, she was something.
Fearful, yes, but also resilient to stand her ground. Her physique looked sturdy but also soft with the roundness of her belly and other areas. He wondered if she would do the same if he was at his original height?
For now, he would reside here until he regained his strength. Plus, it would be reasonable to understand humans and exploit their weaknesses. The current human who knew who he was and asked questions. He was wondering about the thing that was moving inside of her swollen belly. Could it be a prey that had not been digested properly and it was trying to escape?
He was getting curious the more he thought about it. Not to the extend of becoming like San.
There were some instances where he would turned his head to his left or right and expected one of his brothers to be there. But being a single head in this body, it felt empty yet a relief to be a dragon with a body all to himself.
Suddenly, he heard the front door clicked open, and an alarmed squeak was made by the human. He was about to check on what was going on but decided to lay low and hoped that he wouldn't waste his energy. But his hearing picked up the following sounds:
"Why is the house still a pig sty? I thought you know better than this!" the male voice demanded, a banging sound was heard.
"Vinn, I was-"
A loud clapped was heard that echoed in his mind. "Fucking useless woman," the male growled with venom. "What good are you if you can't even clean up properly? No wonder your parents wished for a son instead of a cow like you!"
"I'm sorry...please don't shout for our baby."
"Our son will have a spine if he's being carried by your wispy frame. Heh, then again, maybe I can help you lose all those fats to get back to your frame."
Sounds of sniffles were heard, restraining the urge to swish his tail out of frustration. He would like to know what was going on. Anything hostile or violent will get his attention. After all, he was not called the Destroyer of Worlds for nothing.
But a loud crash was just tempting him to come out of his hiding. His hearing picked up the footsteps of the male receding into another room before the door was slammed shut with a click from the lock.
Sensing the air was clear, he emerged out of the kitchen to find the human woman curled up in a vulnerable position on the floor, a hand clutching her stomach while the other to her face. Approaching her with small sniffs, he lowered his head to get a better look.
Barely covering with her hand, he spotted a bluish-black mark on her right eye.
Ghidorah will remain in this 6'5 feet size for now...After all, I like to see what the middle head could do so yeah
