After graduation, Tommy prepared for his move to Reefside. His hiring paperwork was quickly processed, and Tommy was given quite a generous signing bonus for joining the research team on Reefside Island.

Tommy was able to spend the holidays with his family, and Hayley was a huge help finding Tommy a place in Reefside. One weekend, Hayley got word that there was a wonderful vacant property on the outskirts of Reefside.

The property on 1993 Valencia Road was on the edge of the forest that surrounded the outskirts of town… it provided a lot of privacy, which Tommy immensely liked. After all the craziness that Tommy experienced in his life, he wanted a home where he could have some peace and quiet.

Tommy quickly bought the property and was able to move into his new home within a few weeks before he had to report to his new job.

Hayley stopped by for a visit after Tommy first moved in… she had to laugh at the slight disarray. Tommy was still trying to get settled in and was living like a typical bachelor. Hayley joked that his house needed a female touch… Tommy blushed fiercely at that. Tommy had been single for a while now, and honestly wasn't looking to jump into a relationship anytime soon. He hadn't had a serious relationship in forever… not since his relationships with Kat and Kimberly.

Tommy's relationships with the two pink rangers were quite different, but still special in their own way to him. But Tommy had to admit, only one of them truly had captured his heart and it hurt like hell when she ended things. Tommy managed to stay friends with Kat after their breakup… which he was grateful for. Kat had always been such a sweet and supportive friend, and he would always appreciate how Kat was there for him when he was dealing with his breakup with Kimberly.

Kimberly, on the other hand, he hadn't seen her since the infamous Turbo incident. Tommy considered that mission his greatest failure as a ranger… he still felt awful that he was unable to reach Jason and Kim in time before they were both thrown in the pit by Divatox to be sacrificed to Maligore. It haunted him seeing his best friend and the girl who had been the love of his life turned evil. Thankfully, everything worked out in the end… Tommy and the rest of the Turbo Rangers were able to defeat Divatox and Maligore, and Jason and Kim were returned to their true selves. Although Divatox proved to a formidable opponent during his last months as a ranger.

Unfortunately, Tommy never got true closure with Kimberly. The original pink ranger quickly left Angel Grove after the karate tournament and returned to Florida before he could speak to her. Last that he heard from Jason and Trini, Kim had returned to California for college and became a teacher. Tommy was glad that Kimberly had stayed in contact with most of their friends, and that she was doing well. Maybe one day he would try to contact her again… Tommy had no idea how soon fate was going to interfere.

Before he knew it, it was finally Tommy's first day of work. Tommy was full of excitement as he took the ferry to Reefside Island. Tommy was amazed seeing how huge the island was, and how wild it looked. It was hard to believe that there was a research center in such a remote place. It made Tommy a bit curious why Anton chose this place as the base of his operations, and the island was giving Tommy a vibe that there was some great energy inhabiting this place. Tommy could honestly say his ranger senses were tingling.

Tommy shrugged it off… he decided to put it off as first day jitters. As soon as he arrived at the research center, he was quickly ushered into the complex. Tommy was amazed when he walked in… the place was bustling with activity, and it seemed like several projects were beginning to get underway.

Anton was notified as soon as his new hire arrived on site and quickly went to greet Tommy, "Welcome Dr. Oliver! I'm so glad to finally have you here on the island. So, what do you think of your new workplace?"

Tommy replied, "This place is amazing Anton! I can't wait to get started." Anton grinned at Tommy's eagerness, "Great… as you can see, we already have several projects underway. The main purpose of our research here is combining dinosaur DNA with technology, and hopefully some of our creations can be used to help improve our world. A lot of our projects can be used for the military, but I do want to develop projects that will also help the everyday population."

Tommy asked, "So, what will my role be here since I am a paleontologist?" Anton quickly answered, "I have great plans for you here, Tommy. Follow me."

Anton led Tommy down the hall to a private research room. Tommy was curious as the energy changed… in the center of the room were three prehistoric gems. The gems were colored red, blue, and yellow but Tommy could sense there was a power radiating from them. A power that was eerily giving him flashbacks to his ranger days.

Anton explained, "Tommy, these are gems that came from the meteorite that caused the extinction of the dinosaurs. The Dino Gems have a power to them that I think can greatly help in our research. I have a feeling that you will be able to help us find out more how these Dino Gems work."

Tommy was amazed… he was honestly fascinated at the prospect of learning more about the Dino Gems. Tommy gently picked up the Red Dino Gem, and was quickly met with a vision of the Red Tyranno Zord, and suddenly a voice began to speak to him.

Welcome, Tommy. I am the Tyranno Gem… my power comes from the morphing grid, and I can sense that you have been touched by the power. I am trusting you to be our protector… while we are powerful, we only bond with a person that is worthy of handling our energy. Once the bond is completed, it is permanent and only death can sever the bond. You are more than welcome to use us for good, but please protect me and my brothers and sister from falling into the wrong hands. If one of us is corrupted, it will be devasting and cause our power to turn evil. There are two other gems still missing, Drago and Brachio… find them, especially Drago. I can sense you are a good person, and that you can protect us. I give you permission to use us for your research… we may be able to help you greatly once Mesogog arises.

The vision ended when Anton gently shook Tommy, "Tommy? Are you okay? You seemed to space out a bit when you grabbed that Dino Gem."

Tommy couldn't tell Anton about his vision, so he played it off, "I'm okay, Anton. I guess I was just a little spellbound by these Dino Gems."

Anton just chuckled, "That's fine Tommy… everyone gets a little spellbound on their first encounter with the Dino Gems."

Tommy replied, "Anton, I think we really need to be careful with these gems. These gems are special, and if they get into the wrong hands… let's just say it's not going to be good."

Anton just grinned, "See, that's why I knew you would be the right person to study them. I'm going to make you the person in charge of the research team that studies the Dino Gems. You'll have free reign on any projects that pertain to the Dino Gems."

Tommy just nodded as Anton excused himself. Tommy gave the Dino Gems another look… the vision had shaken him. If the Tyranno Gem was correct, it was warning him that something major was going to happen in the future. And he had a sinking feeling the Power Rangers were going to be needed.
