Fall 2003- Day of the Dino
After the destruction of Reefside Island, Tommy managed to get rescued by Reefside Harbor Police. Unfortunately, there were few survivors and Tommy was declared one of the lucky few that made it to safety. Anton Mercer was declared missing, which meant that Tommy was without a job. Anton's companies and assets were frozen as an investigation was launched to find the missing billionaire. Tommy was devastated that his mentor was missing, and honestly believed that Anton died in the destruction… making him more determined to find and stop Mesogog.
Thankfully, Tommy used the past year to complete the Dino Lab and Hayley finally had the Dino Thunder Morphers ready for the future Power Rangers. Hayley had recently opened her brand-new business, Hayley's Cyberspace, over the summer and the café was quickly becoming a popular local hangout.
Despite having enough savings, Tommy knew it wouldn't last forever and started applying for jobs. Thankfully, Hayley came to the rescue again… Hayley had heard that Reefside High School was hiring and knew Tommy would be perfect for their science department. Due to his credentials, Tommy was quickly hired on and would be teaching the senior level science classes.
Tommy was nervous, but excited about the new job. He was looking forward to teaching the students, but he had no idea of the excitement his first day on the job was going to bring.
Tommy arrived at the high school amid the hustle and bustle of the students arriving. As he walked through the doors, he quickly checked his briefcase to make sure he had his necessary lesson plans for his first class. In his distraction, he ended up colliding with someone quite petite.
At first, Tommy thought he had bumped into one of the students, but then he noticed the pink pencil skirt and heels… he had bumped into a fellow staff member. He quickly straightened up to apologize and was met with a familiar face.
The teacher he had ran into turned out be Kimberly Hart! Tommy was speechless… what were the odds that he would run into his first love on his first day on a new job.
Kimberly was brushing herself off, and quickly retorted, "You really ought to watch where you're going. I nearly dropped my things… not a good way to start my first day here."
Tommy shyly smiled, "Sorry about that… it's my first day as well. I was just trying to get organized and wasn't paying attention."
Kimberly raised her eyes and was incredibly surprised to see Tommy Oliver… she couldn't believe it was actually him. Tommy looked so different with his short hairstyle, and he looked so professional in his lab coat and glasses. "Tommy?! Oh, my gosh… I can't believe it's you. It's so good to see you… wow, I almost didn't recognize you."
Tommy grinned, "Likewise, Kimberly… so, what a small world that we're both teaching here at Reefside."
Kimberly nodded, "I know… I'm the new history teacher, but I'm also one of the girl athletic coaches. I'm hoping that I'll be able to start a gymnastics program here soon. So, by looking at the lab coat, I'm guessing you're the new science teacher."
Tommy nodded, when the two new teachers were approached by a well-dressed woman with short, black hair.
The woman appraised the two new members of her staff, "Dr. Oliver, Coach Hart… I'm Principal Randall."
Tommy kindly smiled and gently put out his hand to greet his new boss, "It's nice to meet you." The woman did not accept Tommy's kind gesture, so Tommy continued, "It's your first day, too, isn't it?"
Principal Randall smirked as she read her clipboard, "Yes, and I'm still trying to figure out why a doctor of paleontology and a former Pan Global medalist would come all the way to Reefside to teach science and history to teenagers."
Kimberly slightly frowned… Principal Randall was giving her some weird vibes, and it appeared that her new boss was going to be a challenge to work with.
Tommy honestly replied, "I guess I'm looking for some peace and quiet." After all the craziness of the past year, he was just hoping to catch his breath.
Principal Randall sneered, "So you became a high school teacher… that doesn't really make a whole lot of sense, now does it, Dr. Oliver?"
Kimberly frowned at that remark and quickly answered, "Excuse me, Principal Randall… I grew up with Dr. Oliver, and he has always been a hard worker. I have no doubts he will be an excellent educator."
Kimberly was fuming at the audacity of this woman… she felt awful for Tommy. The poor man was just trying to make a good impression on his first day, and it seemed nothing was going to impress their new boss.
Tommy gave Kimberly a grateful look, and decided to try to ease the tension, "You know, I was thinking, maybe we should get together. This way, you can kind of fill me in on what you expect of me."
Randall smirked, "I expect you to make it hard for them, painful if at all possible. If they smile, you know you're doing something wrong." Randall then turned her head and adjusted her glasses, "Now, I'm off to find my first truant… we'll talk later."
Tommy was left flabbergasted as Randall walked away. Kimberly shook her head, "What a witch… we're going to have an interesting time working for her. I better get to my classroom… hopefully we can catch up later."
Tommy nodded, "I'd like that, and Kim… thanks for sticking up for me." Kimberly turned and gave Tommy one of her huge smiles that always left him breathless, "You're welcome… Dr. Oliver."
Tommy chuckled to himself as Kimberly walked away…it really was a strange twist of fate seeing Kimberly again. But he was glad that Kimberly seemed happy to see him and appreciated her kindness in the way she dealt with Randall… it gave him hope that they could rekindle their lost friendship.
Tommy headed into his new classroom and was met with chaos. His students were just playing around before class started, and Tommy quickly took control as he made his way to the front of the room, "Guys! Settle Down! Take your seats, please!"
At that, the students settled down and began to get into their chairs. Tommy quickly got started, "I'm Dr. Oliver, and this is first period science. Before we start, are there any questions?"
One perky, inquisitive blonde quickly raised her hand, and Tommy acknowledged the girl, "Yes."
The girl quickly stood up to introduce herself, "Cassidy… Cassidy Cornell." The class groaned at Cassidy's introduction, but she continued, "Dr. Oliver, as you may know, I'm the anchor and field reporter for our school TV station."
The class let out another loud groan at Cassidy's antics, but that didn't stop her, "Anyway, I'm sure our viewers are wondering- well, you don't really look old enough to be a teacher."
Tommy looked down, trying to remain calm. He was a bit incredulous at this student's line of questioning. Cassidy barked at her friend and cameraman, "Devon, are you getting this?"
Tommy decided to put a stop to the young reporter's antics, "Cassidy, I promise you, I'm old enough. So, let's put the camera away."
Devon quickly put down his camera, with Cassidy disappointed with Devon for missing Dr. Oliver's remarks.
Tommy decided to put the focus back on his class, "For now, let's talk about you guys and what you expect of yourselves in this class. Because that's what really important."
The kids appeared to be finally listening to their new teacher, but then Tommy noticed there was an empty seat… knowing he should have a full classroom, he asked, "Is someone missing?"
Indeed, there was one student missing from first period science. Conner McKnight, the school's soccer star, was out practicing on the soccer field instead of in his assigned class.
Conner was clad in his red soccer uniform and preparing to make a goal. He had roped one of his timid friends into goaling for him, who was quaking in his protective gear.
Conner showboated with the soccer ball for a few seconds, and then he spun and gave one powerful kick to the ball. The ball quickly launched and made it to the back of the net… the goalie quaking in his shoes.
Conner protested, "Dude, you're supposed to try and stop it!" His friend quickly asked, "You're sure we're not going to get in trouble for this?" Conner groaned, but his buddy continued, "I mean, the bell rang, and it's the first day."
Conner replied, "Look, if anyone says anything, tell them Conner McKnight gave you permission to be out here."
His friend continued to protest, "Yeah, but I heard the new principal is crazy. She worked in a prison or something before she came here."
Conner smirked, not knowing that Randall was sneaking up behind him, "Don't worry about Randall. She's a woman. And women are just… grown-up girls." Conner's friend tried to warn him, but he continued, "Need I say more?"
Randall quipped, "I think you've said quite enough, Mr. McKnight." Conner quickly realized he screwed up, and slowly turned around to be face to face with the new principal.
Conner poured on the charm, trying to weasel his way out of trouble, "Principal Randall… I have heard such great things about you."
Randall remained stoic as she replied, "Vicious rumors, I can assure you." She turned her head sharply, "Go!"
Conner groaned, and prepared to leave the field. Randall turned towards the goalie, "What are you looking at?" and launched a powerful kick of her own. The impact knocked the poor goalie backwards into the net, and was met with Randall yelling, "Now get back to class!"
Conner couldn't believe his eyes, and his poor friend quickly scrambled away. Randall adjusted her outfit, and Conner quickly retreated from the scene with Randall closely following him.
Meanwhile, computer nerd Ethan James and one of his computer club friends snuck into one of the school sheds. Ethan pulls out his computer, and began to hook it up the school's sprinkler system, "Check it out… I wrote a program that generates a code, so the sprinklers go off at different times every day." He types in the code and couldn't wait for his prank to begin.
On the school grounds, musician Kira Ford was playing her latest song on her guitar. "I want to know, know where you're at. I'm at the front, but you're still at the back. Oh… Can you tell me where, tell me where you're at. Freak you out, Freak you out, Freak you out, Freak you out, Freak you out. Freak you out."
Everyone was applauding Kira's performance, but it was quickly interrupted by Randall. Randall quickly opened her clipboard, "Miss Ford, I'm afraid you need written permission to perform on school grounds. Let's go."
Kira quickly protested, "Are you aware that kids who play an instrument have a 50% higher chance of getting into college?"
Randall adjusted her glasses as she appraised the young singer, "Well, you're hardly college material now, are you, Miss Ford? Now come with me." Kira's jaw dropped at the rudeness, and quickly followed Conner and Randall.
As the principal and her "delinquents" made their way onto the lawn, they were met by huge bursts of water as Ethan's sprinkler prank went into effect.
Randall, Conner, and Kira became soaked, and many students began to run away from the scene. Kira tried to shield herself and her guitar to no avail, "Oh, you got to be kidding me! This is just great!"
Randall then spotted Ethan, holding an umbrella, "Ethan James… I should've known."
Ethan was quickly rounded up, and Randall marched the three students inside. She led them to a bench outside her office, "Sit!" and the three quickly took a seat.
Ethan quickly tried to maintain his innocence, "Principal Randall, I'd just like to mention the fact that there's absolutely no hard evidence linking me to that unfortunate sprinkler incident."
Randall snapped, "Save it for Judge Judy, Mr. James. The three of you have detention for one week, starting today. Now, if there are no further questions…" The trio quickly began to protest… Ethan managed to say among the commotion, "What?! I have computer club!"
Randall stopped the commotion with an "I didn't think so!" and marched into her office, leaving the trio quite upset at the turn of events.
Kira quipped, "Okay, someone seriously needs a hug." Conner just gave Ethan a look, "Dude, computer club?" and Ethan just shook at his head. It was definitely going to be an interesting detention for the trio… they were already butting heads, but they had no idea of the adventure they were about to embark on.
At the end of the day, Randall ran into Tommy in the hallways. She asked, "Dr. Oliver, how was your day?"
Tommy kindly answered, "The kids were great… no problem." Randall nodded, "Good, you're going to be seeing a lot more of them in detention."
Tommy tried to joke, "You mind telling me what I did?" Randall replied, "No, you're in charge of it today."
Tommy tried to gently refuse the after-school duty, "No, actually, I have plans to go to a museum outside of town."
Suddenly Kimberly arrived on the scene… she gave Tommy a huge smile (which Randall immediately noticed), "Tommy… I was hoping to catch you before you left for the day." The original pink ranger was honestly happy that she found Tommy… it had been a pleasant surprise running into him that morning, and she wanted a true opportunity to catch up with him.
Randall smiled and decided to throw a monkey wrench into both Tommy and Kimberly's plans, "Perfect… bring the little monsters with you. That should be sufficient torture for them. Coach Hart can go with you as well to give you some assistance."
Kimberly whispered to Tommy, "What did you rope me into, Tommy?" Tommy whispered back, "Looks like we're both running detention today… I'm so sorry."
Kimberly just gave a glare towards Randall… this wasn't the way she wanted to spend her afternoon. But the original pink ranger decided to take the impromptu assignment in stride. Kimberly could tell right away Tommy was going to need help… Randall was definitely a piece of work putting a new teacher in charge of detention.
Randall led Tommy and Kimberly towards her office where Conner, Ethan, and Kira were waiting. Randall quipped, "You've all met, I trust." She gave the group a smirk, "Well, enjoy your little outing."
Tommy gave a look towards his students, "So, you guys like museums?" The kids shrugged and followed Tommy and Kimberly outside… they just wanted to get detention over with.
The group piled into Tommy's jeep and arrived at the museum. Ethan eyed the giant model of Tyrannosaurus Rex that was displayed outside, "Whoa, check out the T-Rex!"
The group walked towards the entrance, only to find the museum was closed. Tommy had been certain the museum would be open and commented, "Whoa, that's weird."
Conner quipped, "Oh, well… no museum for us." Kira agreed with Conner, "Great… let's go home."
Tommy replied, "I'll tell you what- why don't you guys have a look around the grounds? If any of you guys find anything prehistoric, I'll cancel detention for the rest of the week."
The kids smiled at that idea… they would do anything to reduce their time in detention.
Tommy continued, "I'm going to see if I can find somebody who can tell us when they're opening up."
The kids turned and began to walk towards the woods to begin their search… Tommy could hear Conner quip to Ethan, "So, let me get this straight… they have a club just for computers?"
Tommy and Kimberly made their way to the front door. Kimberly smiled, "That was nice of you… to give them a chance to reduce their detention."
Tommy just grinned, "They're just kids… I'm sure we were just like them at that age." Kimberly laughed, "Tommy… I hate to say it, but our high school experience was a bit different than theirs."
The two chuckled at that, when Tommy noticed the notice on the front door declaring that the museum was under new management, "In case of emergencies… call Anton Mercer Industries? Anton Mercer… that's impossible."
Kimberly asked, "Who's Anton Mercer?" Tommy frowned as he replied, "My former boss… who went missing a year ago."
In the woods, Ethan was trying to make conversation, "Hey, did you guys ever hear the story about the guy who was hiking up here and fell in the giant sinkhole?"
Kira quipped, "I've must have missed that one." Ethan continued, "Come on, it was on all the urban legend websites."
Conner smirked, "Dude, you know this isn't computer club, right?" Ethan turned towards the soccer star, "Oh, I guess you're too big and bad to surf the web. Well, what do you do in your spare time?"
Conner gave another smirk as he replied, "Me? I go out with girls. You know, they're the ones at school that smell really good with the long hair and the makeup."
Ethan did not appreciate the dig, "Oh, it's like that, is it?" Conner stood his ground, "Yeah, it's like that."
Kira rolled her eyes at the boys as she walked past them, "Whatever." Conner just scoffed and began to walk away.
Ethan replied after the two, "All I'm trying to do is give you guys the heads-up. Stuff happens out here. Just don't come crying to me when you fall in a giant sinkhole." At those words, all three were startled as they fell through the ground.
Back at the museum, Tommy and Kimberly were heading back towards the parking lot, when Tommy noticed something big was missing,
Tommy asked, "Where's the T-Rex?" Kimberly looked around and replied, "Tommy, I've got a bad feeling about this."
The two began to make their way back to the entrance, and when they turned around, they were met by a moving, gigantic T-Rex glaring down at them!
Tommy quickly pushed Kimberly behind him… the T-Rex let out a giant roar at the former rangers. Kimberly let out a huge scream, and Tommy went into defensive mode.
To be honest, Tommy was only going on instinct… he quickly spun and gave the T-Rex a kick on the nose. That caused the T-Rex to rear up in anger… Kimberly managed to yell, "Did you just seriously kick a T-Rex in the face?!"
Tommy just grabbed Kimberly's hand, and the two began to run towards the jeep. The two quickly hopped in, and Tommy locked the door on instinct. Tommy realized how crazy he was being and muttered to himself, "Great. Yeah, lock the door Tommy. Real good."
Kimberly rolled her eyes, "Tommy, start the damn car!" as the T-Rex began to approach them.
The T-Rex was getting closer, and Tommy quickly buckled and inserted his keys into the ignition. He hollered "Come on!" as it felt it was taking his jeep forever to get started. Finally, Tommy was able to reverse, and quickly spun out of the lot… with the T-Rex following closely behind.
Meanwhile, the kids had landed inside a huge cavern… they quickly realized they needed to find a way out. Conner turned towards the others, "You guys stay here where it's safe. I'll climb up and come back with help."
It was a long way up, but Conner was determined to get out of the cavern. Conner grabbed the rock walls and prepared to climb. The soccer star barely went up the wall, and quickly lost his grip.
Ethan quipped, "Back already?" He and Kira went ahead and helped Conner up, and the three began to look for another way out.
Tommy and Kimberly were speeding away from the T-Rex… Tommy definitely had to use his old racing skills from his Turbo days. He punched the accelerator and veered several times as the T-Rex got close to the jeep.
In the cavern, the kids were taking in their surroundings. Kira began to sing the song that landed her detention to pass the time and was impressed that the place had great acoustics.
Conner quipped as he pushed past Kira, "Babe, can you keep it down? I'm trying to stay focused here."
Kira shot Conner a dirty look, "Did you just call me babe?!" She then turned towards Ethan, "Did he just call me babe?"
Ethan shrugged, "I don't know… I wasn't listening. I'm still grooving to your tune."
Kira walked towards Conner to confront him. Conner just shrugged, "What? Just chill out, why don't you?"
Kira snapped, "Listen… my name is Kira. Maybe you should write it on your hand or something so you can remember." The young musician then turned in a huff and walked away from the soccer star.
Conner couldn't believe a girl actually told him off, and Ethan just shrugged. The two boys went ahead and followed Kira.
Tommy and Kim were still being chased by the T-Rex… Tommy sped underneath a tall bridge, with the T-Rex closely behind.
The T-Rex ended up colliding its head with the bridge and collapsed onto the highway. Tommy saw everything in his rearview mirror and spun the jeep to a stop. Tommy and Kimberly exited the jeep to check out the scene.
The two cautiously made their way towards the collapsed T-Rex… they were relieved that they were no longer being chased. Tommy squatted down to look at the T-Rex and observed that the T-Rex had a lot of complex circuitry.
Kimberly quipped, "This is not how expected my first day of work to end… I'm just glad that thing is dead. By the way, where the heck did you learn how to drive like a race-car driver?"
Tommy smirked at that, "Kim, I was a stock-car racer my senior year… and did you forget I was also the Turbo Red Ranger."
Kimberly smiled at that quip, but then seriously asked, "What the hell was that thing?" Tommy honestly answered, "I have no idea… but I have a feeling something big is about to happen in Reefside."
The kids found their way to a huge dinosaur skeleton buried in the cavern walls. Kira quipped, "This screams Jurassic Park to me."
Conner just smiled, "This will get us out of detention forever." Conner made his way towards the skeleton, while Kira asked, "Do you think we should-", but was interrupted as Conner lowered the skeleton's jaw, and a door began to open.
The group was amazed as the wall opened to reveal a high-tech lab. They quickly began to look around the place. Kira exclaimed, "I could do a crazy video in here."
Conner quipped to Ethan, "Whoa, this must be like the mother ship for you, dude." He went ahead and patted Ethan on the shoulder. Ethan replied as he continued to look around, "Normally, I'd be insulted. But when you're right, you're right."
Ethan then noticed Conner approaching a giant stone display in the middle of the room. Conner was about to reach and touch the display, and Ethan quickly yelled, "Yo! Don't touch that."
Conner raised his arm, "Why not?" Ethan scolded, "You really are taking this dumb jock thing to a whole new level."
Conner defended himself, "Look, I have sat through enough lame science classes to know that thing looks fully prehistoric. And if I don't have to miss practice-" Kira interrupted, "I hate to agree with him- really, I do. But I already missed one rehearsal."
The trio reached in and grabbed the Dino Gems. The gems suddenly glowed bright red, blue, and yellow. The Dino Gems had finally found their masters!
The kids were surprised, and gently studied the gems in their hands. Kira had the Yellow Dino Gem in her hand, and asked, "Well, what are they?"
Ethan replied, "I can go online later and see if I can find out." Ethan ended up having the Blue Dino Gem in his hand.
Conner had the Red Dino Gem and quipped, "You in front of a computer… wait, let me put on my surprised face."
Ethan shot back, "You know, 10 years from now, when your hairline's receding and you're playing pickup soccer in the park because your dreams of turning pro never quite worked out, I'll have my own multibillion-dollar software business." He smiled at that thought.
Kira began to make her way towards the exit, and Ethan asked, "Where are you going?"
Kira turned and quipped, "I don't want to think about what kind of freak lives in a place like this, and I sure don't want to be here when it gets home."
Conner nodded in agreement and put his gem into his pockets, "Right behind ya." Ethan nodded as well, and the boys followed Kira out of the lab.
In the middle of the ocean, a dark fortress rose out of the water. This fortress was Mesogog's lair… the evil villain had survived.
Mesogog declared, "The gems have moved. I can feel them." He turned to his Tyrannodrones, "Go, bring them to me."
The kids had made their way out of the lab… Ethan found an exit to the outside, "This way!" The others followed him, and the trio were relieved to be outside again.
Ethan realized they needed to make their way back to town, "A compass… we need a compass. Anyone have a compass?"
Conner sarcastically retorted, "I was going to bring one." The kids then heard a chilling roaring.
Ethan asked, "What was that?" Kira was still in denial, "The wind" and Ethan quickly retorted, "That ain't the wind. As much as we'd like it to be, it ain't."
An evil-looking green light surrounded them; it was an invisi-portal, and the kids were quickly surrounded by the Tyrannodrones.
The kids were shocked as the Tyrannodrones began to approach them. Conner whispered, "Don't move." Kira clenched her teeth and quipped, "Great idea… make it easy for them."
Ethan was still wide-eyed as he took in the ugly creatures quickly approaching them, "New plan- run!"
The trio quickly began to run away from the creatures. As they ran through the woods, the boys managed to leap over a wide ravine. Kira leaped as well but didn't make the jump. She rolled into the ravine and tried to climb out.
The boys heard Kira yelp, and quickly doubled-back to help her. Ethan hollered, "Come on!" as he and Conner both grabbed Kira's arms, and helped pull her up.
The kids began to run again, and the Tyrannodrones were close behind. Kira tripped and fell onto the ground… the Tyrannodrones began to approach her, and the frightened girl let out a scream.
The scream that followed was unexpected… it came out of Kira as a loud, supersonic screech. The Yellow Dino Gem had now given her mistress the Ptera-Scream, and it quickly drove the Tryrannodrones away from Kira.
The boys covered their ears at the painful sound. Once the sound dissipated, the boys rushed over to Kira.
Ethan quickly told Conner, "Help her up." The boys quickly helped the shocked Kira to her feet.
Ethan turned to Kira and asked, "What was that?!" Kira was still shocked but managed to say, "I have no idea."
Kira pulled out her gem from her pocket, and the gem was still glowing bright yellow. Kira was then met with a vision of the Ptera Zord.
The Tyrannodrones began to regroup and began another attack. The kids quickly scattered…. Kira began to run, and then suddenly stopped. She turned as the ugly creatures got closer and prepared to defend herself.
As the Tyrannodrones attacked, Kira began to perform some seriously impressive karate moves. She kicked and spun, and actually managed to hold her own.
Ethan was not faring as well… he was kicked into the arms of two Tyrannodrones, and he was tossed in the air like a rag doll. He landed in a heap on the ground… poor Ethan had to clutch his stomach as he got up. The computer nerd was surrounded, and the creatures launched another attack.
Ethan put up his arms to protect himself, and as the Tyrannodrones struck him the skin on his arm immediately changed. His skin turned blue and had hard-rock scales that effectively protected him from harm. Ethan was shocked and managed to push the Tyrannodrones away.
Ethan looked at his arms in surprise, "Something's happening to me." He had the Blue Dino Gem in his palm and was met with a vision of the Tricera Zord. Ethan smiled, and began to fight better.
Conner was struggling as well in his own fight with the Tyrannodrones. He was knocked into a tree and landed on his stomach. Conner had his gem in his palm, and it glowed bright red… he was quickly met with the vision of the Tyranno Zord. A sudden burst of power helped Conner get up, and he managed to kick a Tyrannodrone away from him.
Conner then noticed a change in his surroundings, "Whoa, everything's so slow." Conner was actually using his new-found super speed. The Tyrannodrones launched themselves at Conner, and Conner got into a defensive stance and used his new speed to his advantage. He sent several powerful kicks and had the Tyrannodrones flying away from him. He grinned at his new powers, and the Tyrannodrones quickly retreated from the trio.
The kids quickly huddled up, amazed at their new-found powers. Ethan proudly exclaimed, "Yeah! How much do I love detention?!"
Suddenly they heard running footsteps and turned to see Tommy and Kimberly approaching… the kids quickly hid their gems back into their pockets.
Tommy was relieved to find the kids, "Hey! Are you guys all right?" The trio quickly nodded… Ethan exclaimed, "Yeah… couldn't be better."
Tommy asked, "Nothing out of the ordinary happened?" Ethan shook his head in denial, "Nah, just your routine hike in the woods. Lots of furry little creatures."
Conner nodded his head in agreement, while Kira quipped, "And a few scaly ones."
Tommy gave Kira a curious look at that, so Conner quickly decided to change the subject, "So, did you get into the Dino Exhibit?"
Tommy and Kimberly gave each other a look… there was no way they were going to tell the kids they were chased by a T-Rex.
Tommy managed to answer, "Uh… they're still working all the kinks out." Kimberly nodded at that, "We better get you guys back… come on."
The two teachers began to lead the way back to the jeep… the kids trailed slightly behind. Kira turned to the guys, "Don't you guys think we should tell them?"
Ethan quickly replied, "I don't know about you, but I've got over a thousand sci-fi DVDs. You want to know how many times the dude with the superpowers ends up in some freaky government lab lying on a table with wires in his head?" Conner quipped in agreement, "Even I know that."
Tommy turned to check on the kids to see why they were trailing behind, "Are you guys coming?" The kids nodded, and the group headed out of the woods.
Back at school, the trio huddled up together to talk about their little adventure. Conner replied, "Okay, so we all agree no one talks about this to anyone, no matter what."
Kira turned to face the boys, "I can do better than that." She then places her gem into Conner's palm, "I'm out of it. Just forget I was here, and I'll do the same."
Ethan just gives a look at Conner, "Wait… how come he gets it?" Kira then grabs her gem from Conner and hands it over to Ethan, "Well, here." Ethan simply nods, and Conner just gives Ethan a surprised look.
Nearby, Cassidy and Devon were discussing their new science teacher. Cassidy replied, "I'm telling you, there's something weird about Dr. Oliver. I mean, seriously, I called Angel Grove High and they wouldn't tell me anything. It's like his private records are some big secret."
Devon quipped, "Yeah, I kind of thought that was why they called them private records. I mean if they were public-" but was quickly interrupted by Cassidy pulling him down as she noticed Conner, Ethan, and Kira talking.
Devon asked the blonde, "What?" while Cassidy pointed toward the unlikely trio, "Don't you think that's a little odd?"
Devon retorted, "A bunch of kids standing around talking. Yeah, freaky, man."
Cassidy quickly replied, "No… think about it. Why would Conner McKnight, king of all jocks, be hanging out with Ethan James?"
Devon quirked his head, "Huh?" which Cassidy explained, "King of all Geeks."
Devon nodded in agreement, and Cassidy continued, "Not to mention the Avril wannabe. I mean, seriously, in the three years we've been at Reefside, have you ever seen them look at each other? Because I haven't."
Suddnely the duo saw Kira raise her arms and overheard her saying, "You know what? I give up!"
Kira began to walk away from Conner and Ethan, when she felt a strong breeze surround her. Kira exclaimed, "Oh, you've got to be kidding me!" and was quickly surrounded by Tyrannodrones.
Kira screamed, "Get away, freaks!" and tried to defend herself. Conner shouted, "Kira!" and he and Ethan ran towards the scene to help.
Cassidy tapped Devon's shoulder, "Get the camera!" so they could record the scene. Devon nodded and began searching his bags for his camera… he ended up knocking most of his things onto the ground as Cassidy urged him to hurry.
The Tyrannodrones ended up getting a firm grasp on Kira, covering her mouth to prevent her from shouting. An invisi-portal opened, and the Tyrannodrones disappeared… taking Kira with them. By the time Conner and Ethan reached the scene, Kira was gone… the only thing left behind was her backpack.
Devon had finally started recording so Cassidy asked, "So, what do you see?" Devon smiled as he opened his screen, "You gotta check this out. I've got an awesome shot." Cassidy looked at the screen to see nothing but trees, "There's nothing there."
Conner and Ethan were still in shock. Conner managed to exclaim, "She's gone!" and just held Kira's backpack in his hands. They quickly realized they needed to get help.
Conner and Ethan hopped into Conner's car and sped away from the school. Conner asked, "Okay, so, where are we going?"
Ethan quickly answered, "Dr. Oliver's" Conner looked at Ethan like he was crazy and exclaimed, "What's he going to do?!"
Ethan replied, "He's a dinosaur guy. These things are dinosaurs, sort of." Conner just went along with it, "All right, so, where does he live?"
Ethan grabbed his handheld and typed in Tommy's name… he quickly found the address, "1993 Valencia Road."
Conner repeated the address, "Valencia Road" and quickly came to a realization, "That's like way out in the middle of the woods."
The boys managed not to get lost and arrived at Tommy's home. They headed up the front porch… Conner looked through the windows while Ethan knocked on the door.
Conner kept searching for signs that someone was home, "Knock again." Ethan knocked again, but no one answered.
Ethan shrugged, "Now what?" Conner went ahead and pushed on the door, and the door opened.
Ethan gave Conner a look, "What are you doing?" Conner didn't mean to open the door, but he couldn't believe a teacher wouldn't lock their front door, "Why would he leave it unlocked?"
Ethan reasoned, "He's got no neighbors." Conner retorted to that explanation, "What, you never heard of the Three Bears?"
Ethan quipped, "Is that the last book you read?" and followed Conner into the house.
As the boys made their way through the house, Conner hollered, "Dr. Oliver?" Ethan bellowed, "Hello?" and it appeared they had walked into Dr. Oliver's office.
There was a dinosaur statue in the middle of the room, and Conner was immediately drawn to it, "Man, check it out."
Conner was about to touch the statue and Ethan quickly swatted his hand, "Hey, remember what happened last time you did that?"
Conner just pointed at the statue, "Dude, the guy's a science teacher… not-" he touched the statue's jaw, and a trapdoor opened, "Batman."
The boys headed down the stairs and were met with a familiar sight. Ethan declared, "This is the same place!"
Conner asked, "Are you freaking out right now?" Ethan took another look around the lab, "Yeah… I'd have to say I am."
Suddenly, Tommy appeared out of nowhere… the former ranger frowned at his students and quipped, "If you're looking for extra credit… you're in the wrong place." The boys were shocked at their teacher's words, who continued to stare them down.
While the boys were dealing with Tommy, Kira was strapped to a chair in Mesogog's lair. Mesogog stood behind her, and declared, "Ahh… excellent." The evil villain was pleased that he had the young girl in his clutches and was determined to get her Dino Gem.
I've been hard at work writing this... I normally don't write this fast! I'll be getting started on Part 2 very soon.
