Lincoln Loud, Quiet Kid - Chapter 1 (Quiet in the Dark)
AN: This one is an AU where Lincoln Loud is labeled as the certain cliche/trope called "The Quiet Kid". This may contain dark, comedic or mature themes not suitable for kids. Discretion and/or Parental Involvement/Adult Supervision might be advised. As per rule of AU/FanFics, there will be some, if not little to no similarities to the canon continuity. So for those who are weary of bad episodes like NSL, things will be different… I can assure you. It may or may not happen, same with the "Movie", or the Newer Seasons of TLH/TC. And I don't plan on rehashing what is written in Canon… rather, there will be certain chapters that doesn't follow the canon seasons from beginning to the recent. This is may appear as a rehash of what the Canon is but with Lincoln having the personality trait of the "Quiet One" (Just search of Kiyotaka Ayanokoji in Google).
TLH/TC belongs to Nickelodeon/Viacom.
That said, please enjoy. Leave a like, follow, review and stay safe. Shalom Aleichem/Peace be with You! To God be all the Glory! And PLEASE READ AN BELOW TOO!
'Twas a peaceful night in Royal Woods, Michigan. Most of the time, in these kinds of night… people are rushing in to get the remote to watch their favorite night show on TV. Lincoln Albert Loud… despite his namesake, he had been the most tame and quiet amongst his family of two parents; a mother and a father, and his 10 sisters; 5 elder and 5 younger. Him and his best friend, Clyde McBride are going to watch the season finale of their ghost-hunting show, ARGGH! And since Clyde is still ogling on Lori (Yes, this is before Haiku, Penelope, Emma or Chloe came to play), Lincoln decided that it's best that they watch separately. Lincoln once suggested a sleepover but because it was school night (Sunday is considered as school night as Monday comes next), they could not do so.
Hold on, wait a second… this is exactly what happened in the Canon-Verse! What makes this so different? Well, I'll tell you all about this "Quiet Kid" trope. You see, many had named this cliche or archetype before… the Introvert, the Smart, the Dangerously Silent, The Classmate with the Gun… all points to one thing… the Quiet Kid. It sounds stupid… you're right. People mistook the quiet children of schools as an "aspiring school shooter" and everyone is afraid of that… to a point that they dare not interact or "tick" him off, lest you'll be in his target list. They are dangerously stoic, strong and smart for their own good. You won't see them with a hint of anger, kinda like Ferb (Phineas & Ferb). They're innovative but they never seemed to hold any word on their own unless it was necessary. So why is it that they always think that being a "Quiet Kid" is considered a danger to anyone?
Has anyone heard of the expression: "There are three things a man fears; a sea with storms, a quietly dark and moonless night, and the wrath of a patient man. For the wrath of a patient man knows no mercy." or this one: "Must I at Length the Sword of Justice draw? Oh curst Effects of necessary Law! How ill my fear they by my Mercy scan, beware the Fury of a Patient Man!" If not, then look for John Dryden; a poet, playwright/dramatist. That very much entails that even the most patient, kind, understanding or stoic/unmoved person had limits on how they can deal with nuisances or annoyance… and when you do reach to that boiling point… HELL HATH NO FURY THAN QUIET KID SCORNED. You can test a man's endurance and they will recover in a day, but to test their patience… it will take years, decades or centuries before they could forgive and recover the same amount of patience.
Is Lincoln really that patient? In this AU, Yes. Scheming, again in this AU… yes! He's just as smart as Lisa, stoic as Lucy, had a strong sense of good and justice just as Lana, Lily and Leni, talented and strong like Luna, Lola and LJ/Lynn (Jr), efficient leader like Lori, but had some sense of humor or optimism like Luan. Now you see how the "Quiet Kid" function… let's go back to how things will play out. He may not express it but Lincoln is quite enthusiastic in watching the season finale of his show. However, he knows that things may not always go as planned. Even if he carefully calculate how things will go out, certain factors may come… but it doesn't hurt to be a little bit ready for the unexpected. Lincoln hurriedly rushed through the hall and sled on the stair to get to the TV.
What? You'd think he will try to make the twins fight against each other, or set it up to make Luan record them… nope, he won't be doing that. He just simply rushed through the couch and made it passed them. He did so by going down early than scheduled. That way, no one can complain and fight over the remote as he already went to lay claim over the channeled programs. This has been done before… during on one of Lincoln's flashbacks. I hope you don't mind it.
Lincoln nodded… Great! Flashback time
-Flashback-
This flashback opens with the idyllic picture of one boy with his ten sisters. The boy, Lincoln Loud, grew up in a big family… although it isn't perfect, he doesn't mind it much… or rather, he never once had been vocally defiant. But he had patience, perseverance and incredible problem solving skills. As the chaos outside his room ensues, the call of nature arrives and he had to release this strain or in layman's term… Take a massive dump down the toilet!
But he had no time left, still he focused his patience and subtly meditated to not feel the urge of going to the lavatory… with a little style. "Commence travel music, Luna." He sternly spoke as the musical sister starts playing tunes. Lucy then asked her brother if he wants to hear her poem, which the boy politely declined by shaking his head.
"Yo Link, smell my flower!" yelled Luan, but Lincoln dodges the water squirt by side stepping and rushes towards the bathroom. "Aw stinks, he's getting better. I didn't even used my second water flower from by flip-flops!" yelled the prankster. Suddenly, Lynn/LJ rushes through on a mini-motor bike… playing an odd mix of sports. Lincoln was able to avoid them since he's a bit athletic despite not showing off. He then met up with Lola, requested to play 'Fashion Photographer'. "Later" the boy said but… "YOU'LL PLAY OR I'LL TELL MOM YOU'RE READING MANGA ON THE ROOF WITH ONLY YOUR UNDIES AGAIN!" Lola, demanded. Lincoln narrowed his eyes, "You don't threaten me, little miss! Don't forget, you splurged most of the budget… wastefully on surplus makeup! If you tell, I'll tell who's wasting money and have them cut off your allowances." replied sternly as Lincoln left whilst carrying Lily when she crawled to him. "Poo-Poo" coyly and cutely spoken by the infant. "That's right, little one. Big brother (Onii-chan) needs to go poo-poo. I'll take you to Leni or Lori if you want to play." continuing his journey to the bathroom. LJ chuckles "Oh man, he's got you there. You're really overspending!? No wonder we haven't afford some of the things we wanted to buy." "Shut up you!" Lola replied. Lana enters the fray with mud-pie at hand but trips and the mud lands on Lola!
"You try having Lana as roommate and twin! See if you don't need to set yourself primly!" she angrily spouted. "Teh-heh, sorry Lola." Lana apologized but Lola growled and grouched as she left. Lincoln simply continued his way to the toilet but once again met with Lucy. "Now big brother" she asked but once again rejected. "Soon, when I'm done with my business.", Lincoln promised. Lucy retreated in acceptance. She knows her brother is not one to break a promise. Lincoln then nears Lisa and told her to carry the 1 while she solve another mathematical equation. Then he carried all the way to Leni, still figuring out on activating the vacuum cleaner.
"Does anybody knows how to turn on this sucky thingy?" Leni asked. "Leni, hold Lily for a bit.", Lincoln gives Lily to Leni and then switched on the vacuum cleaner. Then the brother gives the device to Leni to start cleaning. "Thanks, Linky", Leni said as Lincoln returned to his path to the bathroom. He's at reach on the bathroom door, but…
"Beat it, twerp!" Lori, the eldest said. "Lori, I was here first!" Lincoln sternly spake. "Well I was born first!" as the eldest shuts the door. "Be fair Lori, do not do this to me!" Lincoln demanded… "Now, brother?" Lucy asked. "Lucy Marie Loud… be a dear and get me Lisa's mask, Lynn's helmet and Lily's diapers from Leni for me. And I promise to hear you out.", Lincoln's tone shifted to austerity. Everyone paused and gathered what they heard. "Dude, he said 'Marie'! Meaning someone's in deep trouble!", Luna said as they suddenly felt fear. Lucy quickly gathered what was requested. "Well, I guess we're gonna play funeral after this Luce!", LJ blurted. "Lola, why are you hiding?" Lana said as her twin stayed behind her. "Me? Hiding? I'm not. I just… I'm almost sorry to whoever made Linky mad.", the prissy princess responded. "Well poop, it stinks to be whoever she is! Geddit!?" Luan joked as some groaned "But seriously, who is the victim?" Lisa then appeared after finishing her equation, along with the mask that Lincoln asked. "It's Lori… apparently, she still uses her outdated age privilege to gain access with the family lavatory while our dearest brother is in deep need on releasing his feces.", Lisa completely informed the rest and continued, "I can access a theory on how he will respond. He will drive Lori out using our infant sister's waste product to fume a malodourous stench whilst he will be immune to inhaling the smell with the mask and helm that he requested. Not only that but since our ventilation ducts are currently malfunctioning, the stench will stay in one room and not spread outside… forcing Lori to get away. That… or he'll throw the diaper to Lori's face in a fit of anger but he rarely ever shown the face of rage."
Lucy gave the requested trinkets as the brother wore the mask and helmet while held on to the waste diaper carefully to avoid smudging his hands with Lily's stool samples. Lynn (Jr) offered her hockey stick to act as holder for the diaper. Then he opened the bathroom door. "I said I was-" Lori blurt out but couldn't finish as she saw Lincoln fully masked, holding the rod with Lily's full diaper. "I'm only doing what is right and due… and if you don't move, you'll have to deal with the stench!", Lincoln sternly replied. "You wouldn't dare…", Lori challenged but Lincoln stood firm and readies in opening the diaper content whilst remaining outside, preparing to lock Lori in. "I need to use the toilet Lori, but you just had to cut in when I'm in deep need… I gave you a choice, and you've squandered it… Now I bring you, terror. You had your chance.", Lincoln spoke as he opened the diaper and rapidly rushed out while shutting the door whilst giving it a lock support to prevent opening. The odour then spreads through the room and Lori rushed to the closed entryway, gripping for the knob only to fail. She smacked on the door, demanding it to open. "Hey! Let me out! Lincoln! Let me out or I'll…", she shouted, but words fell to deaf ears as her threats are ignored by the rest of the sisters.
Lana amusingly spoke, "Can I keep the diaper afterwards?" but Lola spoke "For what!? Why would you ask Linky that?". Lincoln shook his head then said to them, "The diaper belongs in the trash Lana… unless you want to make fertilizer from Lily's feces… then no." Luna then spoke, "When was the last time we heard words from Linky?" but Luan retorted "When was the last time Linky was angry at anyone? He only say something when he's either angry or needed to reply but he sometimes just shake his head or nod or point. Him talking is often beyond me". Lisa then lisps while shaking her head, "Perhaps now our eldest sister would learn not to temper the dubbed 'Quiet Kid' of our family… save for Lucy who's more of a goth. Plus, this serves as lesson for her to never misuse her birthright privileges".
Lori still banging the bathroom door as she coughs from the odor finally spoke, "Fine! I'll leave! Go use the bathroom… please, let me out". Lincoln heard her pleas and moved in mercy, he opened the door and let Lori out back to her/Leni's room. Lincoln bound the diaper to stop the odour from spreading and threw the waste to the bin. He then gathered a set of air fresheners and toilet paper (or soap) to give way to fragrance. Once finished, he now sat at the bowl and finally let out everything before wiping and washing. Once he flushed, he went out and listened to Lucy's poem. Meanwhile, Leni is in her room comforting Lori. "You know, Linky wouldn't have done that if you were like, nice to him. He just wanted to to use the bathroom". Lori is still whimpering and traumatized of the smell while the rest of the sisters at the hall cheered… who wouldn't as they all know what Lily's bowel movement smelled like… which often times makes it fall on Lincoln being the responsible brother to change Lily's diaper and cleaning her keister.
This shall serve a valuable lesson for them… One, never mess with Lincoln… especially when he's angry. Two, it's first-come first-serve and it's only fair to be so… no privileges whatsoever. Lori may be first born but that gave her no right if she wasn't present (whether it be the remote or the toilet). Three, as extension to lesson 1, never tick off a patient/stoic/unmoved person for their retribution will be tenfold/hundredfold. Kinda like the guards at the Buckingham (Queen's Palace. Requiescat in Pace/Rest in Peace Queen Elizabeth). But just be kind and good in general… especially to the patient ones.
-Flashback Ends-
Yep, Lincoln is reserved and usually soft-spoken but… tick him off and expect the unexpected. Can he talk… yes, but in shorter and meaningful way. He'd go straight to the point and then. Is he patient… Well, sort of. He can deal with Luan's pranks like what you've been shown. Minor nuisance require minor attention, which is why Lincoln simply dodged. When threatened, Lincoln is smart to find a counter. He speaks when he has to but never did he desired to. I also forget that Uncle Iroh (ATLA/LOK) is also a stoic but he talks so I don't often count him. But Lincoln is wise enough and uses whatever he has to do things sagely. Anyways, when he reached the couch for the remote… He noticed that Lucy's already there waiting for her show, "Vampires of Melancholia".
"Forgive me brother, but I needed to watch my show", Lucy spoke. Lincoln nodded and agreed but soon the twins came while cheering "Cartoons!" while they walked down the stairs. He approached them and halted their advances. "Why, Lincoln?", Lana asked. Lincoln pointed at Lucy, showing that she had the remote. "Aw come on! We're gonna watch our show!", Lola argued. "Rules… you know what they are, right? Or do I have to be clear?", Lincoln lectured. The twins begged their "Buts!" but it was to no avail as Lincoln is firm with the rules. He wanted Lucy to enjoy the show as it was only fair. He already though of something, "I can always watch the replay on another time… or I'll watch my show on the old black-and-white TV". This piqued Lucy's interest, "Wait, brother. Can you plug the TV at my room. I prefer the old TV. You can have the remote". The twins shouted, "WHAT!?" but Lincoln simply agreed as he went to fetch the old TV at the garage. Despite it's heaviness, Lincoln carried the device with ease and readies to plug in the old TV while Lucy is waiting but… sudden chaos came from outside. It turns out that the rest of girls are now fighting for the remote. "Sigh… they never learn.", Lucy said in monotony. Lincoln pinches the bridge on his nose and went to the ensuing riffraff… as they all brawled for the RC. Lincoln clapped loudly to put them on stop. "Sigh… what do you all want? Just to stop you all from fighting.", he spoke and continued "I saved Lisa the time from going down by giving her the ingredients she needed for an experiment, so what do you all want"? Lisa replied from upstairs, "Thank you for that brother unit.", as she continued in baking her patent pending 'Glow-eos' (Glow and Oreo cookies). "WE WANT THE REMOTE!", they replied but… Lucy also came down. "Technically, I'm first since I had the remote but Lincoln is generous enough to let me watch on the old TV instead so I gave Lincoln the authority over the remote".
The sisters [save for Lily & Lisa] whined but Lincoln placed his foot down, earning their fear. Lucy seconded, "Rules are rules and Lincoln has the floor while he helps plug in the old TV. Or would you rather earn our quiet brother's ire". Oh boy, angry Lincoln means the Armageddon for them so they just made a different demand.
"Um… You know what? I can always watch another live-tweet of my show from someone else so I'm good.", Lori said. "Can you attend at my tea party for tomorrow? Please? Be my butler! I have friends over!", Lola asked but was countered with Lana's demand, "Nah-Uh! I need his help to train my frogs for show-n-tell! I need them by Tuesday". But Lincoln silenced them and accepted Lola's request first, only to keep it short as Lana needs him for the next. "I'm kinda lacking for a comedy routine so I'm good for now", Luan said. "I can always watch the stream on YouTube for my concerts so, why not?", Luna added. LJ demanded, "Can you at least help me pump my football for training"? Lincoln gave her an already pumped football, but with helium instead to make it float. LJ liked the idea of a challenge since this is the first time she'll use a helium-filled football. Leni doesn't have much to say since she's not really watching anything, she just wants to spend time to whoever is going to watch. And Lily just crawled to Lincoln's feet, wanting to be carried.
Now that had been settled with. Lincoln and Lucy returned to the room and had the old TV plugged in but… it caused the entire house to go dark due to circuit malfunction. Lincoln unplugs the old TV and simply breathe. "Curses!", Lucy still spoke in monotony. Leni screamed, "Guys, I can't see anything! I think I've gone blind!" but Lori replied, "You didn't go blind Leni. The power just went off. Everybody huddle up". Luckily, Lori's phone had a torchlight function but her phone battery is nearly drained so it wouldn't last long. Luan joked, "Hey! I know why the lights went out! 'Cuz they liked each other! [laughter] Geddit!?" while the the sisters groaned. "That one was good enough to deserve a biscuit.", Lisa said as she handed one of her Glow-Eos to Luan. The joker ate the biscuit and made another joke, "So anyway, what did the light bulb say to the other?", but Luan suddenly glowed. The sisters gasped but Lincoln remained unmoved [it was expected, it's Lisa afterall]. Luna answered, "You're glowing dude"! Luan responded, "Oh I already told you that one", not noticing her body. Luna replied, "No dude! You're actually glowing".
Everybody stepped away in fear while Lori scolded Lisa, "What did mom and dad told you about experimenting on us!? Especially that last one with Leni"! Leni whimpers, still remembering the time her face swollen and covered with blemishes. Lisa lisps, "Classic. All I did is infuse a bioluminescent DNA of an Aequorea Victoria jellyfish on the cookie. I dubbed them Glow-Eos. Besides, now we can see". Ah… that answered Lincoln's question on why she needed that amount of milk. That jellyfish releases calcium ion to emit a glow and milk had plenty. They all reared near to Luan as they went to the basement for the circuit box, but the prankster joked one more time. "I always knew that I was the light of your life!", earning the groan of the sisters. Once they arrived, Lori felt a bit afraid of going and complained but the sisters only told her, "You're in charge!" which only forced her to go down. Luan joined Lori due to still glowing but when they took their steps, Luan ceased illuminating.
Lori commanded, "Lisa, giver her more of those cookies! We won't tell". But Lisa apologized, "Negative, that's the only one. Prototype". Lincoln sternly took Lori's phone and activated the torchlight. With this, Lori went down and they all followed suit. However, when they reached the basement floor… Lori's phone died out due to lacking battery charge. They started panicking and crying but Lincoln stayed vigilant and unaffected. The sole brother asked for Luan's camera and the jokester gave it him, activating the night-vision mode. Lori then said, "Everyone, at Lincoln's back. Huddle up, now!", and they all gathered close as they looked for the circuit breaker. Luan even joked, "There's nothing funny in this situation, but I do like dark humor". The started hearing eerie noises but when Lincoln points the camera to the source… they only saw the pipe setting and Cliff, the house cat. LJ then asked, "Ew, what's that smell?", only for them to see Lily's diaper reaching full. "I'm surrounded by scaredy-cat… except for Lucy.", Lincoln spoke before another ominous sounds were heard. The noise speaks of a name, "Lincoln… Lincoln…" as some of the sisters panicked. "I'd be a liar to say that I'm not horrified beyond rational thinking but I have to remain sane. Lori, just fix the circuit breaker". Lori went to the circuit breaker and flipped the switches, activating the lights once more as the sisters discontinued their panicking. Lincoln then reached for the source of the sound, only to see the heap of dirty laundry along with his walkie-talkie. Clyde then spoke from the device, "Lincoln, I just wanna say that the season finale was awesome! Sorry if I wasn't such a good cadet but I wanna know if Lori is a Shotacon right now". Lori angrily replied, "No, I am not"! Clyde once again acted like a malfunctioning robot. Lincoln rolled his eye, thinking that he ought to learn by now.
"Freaking n[bleep: N-word]ah" he whispered which nobody heard… NOBODY HEARD, Lincoln… I didn't hear anything. Please don't look at me like that.
"Guys! I still can't see!", Leni said. Lisa replied, "Open your eyes". To which Leni did, "IT'S A MIRACLE!", she said. But with all said and done, Lincoln realized… Clyde said something about the season finale of ARGGH! So the show finished without him watching it. Lori declares, "First one to the TV is couch commando!", as the sisters rushed… well except for Lucy and Lincoln. Lily demands to have a diaper change so Lincoln obliged but still stayed at the basement for a few seconds. The goth asked Lincoln, "Are you alright, big brother"? Lincoln nods as he walked to the stairs. Lucy then said, "I'm sorry you missed your show, but I missed mine too. Maybe we can watch a replay if it airs tomorrow"? Lincoln smiled and just nodded while he went to the sink to have Lily cleaned up from her dirty diapers. Lucy contemplated and whispered, "Lincoln… one day… your patience might cost you. But still… thank you for loving us, despite being unmerited and undeserved". Lucy then went to the couch and scared the rest of the sisters while Lincoln returned the old TV back to the garage. When he returned to the living room, he saw that the sisters are instead watching Luan's recording of the whole ordeal. He simply became lost in thought and wondered… "I may have missed my show. But I ended up living it. Still, ah… these girls are a handful pain on my neck". Then he returned to his bed and changed to his pajamas to ready himself for sleep's embrace.
It's going to be a new day for tomorrow. The unknown waves against the unmoved mountain.

-Preview of the next Chapter-
Clyde: Are you okay, Lincoln?
Lincoln: What do you want with me, woman?
Lori: Is It true that he's getting picked on?
LJ: Alright, I'd deal with this bully!
Lucy: You all forget our brother could handle this himself despite his quiet and stoic nature.
Dodgeball Queen: Santiago, whatever you're planning, don't!?
Cookie Girl: There's a reason why we never, ever, ever, I mean, never tick the "Quiet Kid"
Brownie Girl: DO YOU HAVE A FVCKING DEATH WISH, SANTIAGO!?
Me/PiroBal: Next time on "Lincoln Loud, Quiet Kid" [Quiet Kid meets Tough Girl!] as we ask… Will the sisters meddle or will Lincoln pull his weight on this!?
AN: That is the first chapter of this story series. Now some of you might feel like I'm rehashing from season one. But I won't do that. There will be chapters that doesn't follow the Canon-Continuity from the show. Instead whatever route the quiet kid will do… the respond will vary. As such, the bullies in the Canon Continuity will be dealt with in this AU [Sorry to RonnieColn fans. I'm a RonnieColn or SidColn or SidNieColn fan myself but in this AU, Lincoln will not tolerate what happened in "Heavy Meddle"… but no worries… there will be RonnieColn moments. It's destined to happen because of Lori and Bobby's intervention… eventually]. Even if Lincoln is considered the reserved child in this AU, that doesn't mean that Lincoln will not speak when needed to be. He's just mostly soft-spoken or responds with nods/shakes/gestures… as the Canon-Lori once said,"Action speaks louder than words".
However, beware of certain bleeps or censorship as Lincoln might say words that are offensive to certain demographic. Just as that once Lincoln said the N-Word without Clyde hearing it. I'll try to make sure it doesn't reach VanossGaming level of offensive.
I'd like to invite MKM2K/Hades Disciple for a joint partnership for this one. I hope he'll agree to help me on this. This will be posted in FanFiction [I'm not permanently back], Wattpad [just in case], and Deviantart.
Anyways, I hope you enjoyed this new project that I've done. Thank you for reading. Any questions will be answered in PM if available. Please leave a like, follow, review. And as always: God Bless, Stay Safe and Peace be with you/Shalom Aleichem!
