Chapter 27: Battle of Chicago
Throughout the streets of the financial district of Chicago which is adjacent to Lake Michigan, was total carnage between the defenders and Ares' army. The troops of the agency and those of the US army are holding their ground against the daemon and cultist followers of the God of War. Air support was ordered from the commanding officers to give relief to the ground troops, even some of those were taken down by flying daemons. The current state of the battle is more in favor of the defenders. However the real threat was the God of War himself. He has yet to reveal himself in the battle. At Grant Park you will find many troopers from the government and the Army of Ares in a hard struggle. Which the favor of the outcome was turning for the defenders. Among the chaos you will find an abnormal party of an agent, a teenager, a preteen, three Amazon warriors, and an old man fighting for their lives. The party remained close with each other in the conflict. John and Pop-Pop used a rifle he was issued to keep the enemies from getting too close to allow breathing room for those fighting more melee. His old Navy training came back to help in a good time. Lincoln and Diana remained close together fighting with their blades. Lincoln did use the pistol given to him by John which was a good help preventing himself from being overrun. Whenever Lincoln had a few seconds to readjust he would look over on how his mother and aunt were doing in this situation. He saw his aunt fighting with much ferocious will in her strikes against any opponent she came across. What struck Lincoln with great surprise was seeing how impressive his adoptive mother was fighting. Her acrobatics she performed in battle was something Lincoln never thought he would ever see her do. He knew she had received training like any other amazon but this was something he never knew an Amazon could fight like, especially from his pacifist mother. Her feats put his Aunt's to shame. Along the amazon sister duo was Lucy with the pistol which John gifted to her. She was keeping the bigger daemons off balance with her bullets, then allowing Artemis and Alexa to finish them off. She also provided breathing room for the two of them. The Grant Park area has been cleared of Daemons which the party gave a mild celebration and were taking a small breather from the exhausting battle. They know that there were more daemons to the south of them. Before any of them could make the trip to the area to assist the other defenders a loud roar could be heard across the Park coming from Lake Michigan. The defenders prepared themselves for the threat to come. It was a deafening silence before a hulking figure smashed landed on the ground in the middle of the park surrounded by the agents, soldiers, and the party. He wore a black and red armor with long white hair that stretched below his shoulders. He had a large smirk on his face that spoke volumes that he was ready for them and prayed that they would make the first move.
