Chapter 28: Ares
The God of War of the Greek Pantheon has finally revealed his face to the mortal army that stands against him this very night. The army that wishes to defend their land from his campaign of carnage. He received some support from remaining daemons who were in the vicinity. He was excited to fight his half sister. Seeing the Princess of the people that held him captive for centuries decked in their most valued battle attire brought arousal in his heart that desired a fight. Beside her was a fellow white haired male. Which he presumed was the adopted son of the amazons who was in front of him holding a sword at the ready. Behind the two were fast approaching amazons ready to defend their Princess and adopted family. Lincoln screamed at Pop-pop and Lucy to run, because this was an opponent he knew they could not hold their own against. Other soldiers of the defending army attempted to fire at him but the bullets only grazed him. To the war god in front of them, it was felt as merely a mild annoyance. He made quick work of the troops that made that vain attempt at him. Diana was the only one who could hold against him. Diana and Ares engaged in an intense battle. Lincoln and John used their firearms on the god of war in hopes to throw him off balance to support Diana but it was as if it wasn't felt at all. John called in air support from the army for which an attack helicopter proceeded to travel to the location and unloaded its Arsenal onto Ares. The strikes that Ares felt from a 50 cal machine felt like hard punches all over his body and the missiles which his body absorbed pained him. It was very glad that olympians like him were blessed which accelerated healing only mortals could be envious of. Diana was being pushed back by her opponent. The amazon sister duo with John and Lincoln wished to assist her but they had no idea what to do. Diana was pummeled to the ground by Ares and what seemed to be the final blow to be delivered by Ares towards Diana. Ares has received a shot in his left eye. It caused a great pain which forced him to drop his sword and focus both hands on his eye. While distracted and before the healing factor possessed by Ares could take care of both the wound and the pain. John fired a grenade launcher at him which he had looted off the corpse of a fallen soldier. While off balance Alexa ran and shoved her sword into his abdomen. For which Ares backhanded Alexa which sent her flying a few feet. And Lincoln made a deep slash on his back of the thigh so Ares would have trouble working his legs. But Ares using the same leg punted Lincoln into the air and with luck on Lincoln's side he landed on the hood of a parked car that softened his fall. With Ares off guard Diana stood up on her feet and with a slash of great force severed the head of Ares from his body. With the God of War dead. The army of Ares lost their morale and were merely attempting to survive and or retreating. Lincoln and Diana ran up to one another and embraced each other with a passion kiss. However a stray daemon who was loyal to his master until the end saw an opportunity to seek revenge for his fallen lord charge at them while preoccupied with each other with a dagger. Before either one of them could notice and react. Artemis charged between them and the dagger was thrusted into her side. Lincoln finished the daemon with his pistol when he saw the creature harming his adoptive aunt. She was bleeding out and John screamed for the medical attention which the medics were applying to stop the bleeding. She was rushed to a makeshift hospital which stabilized her. She lost too much blood when she was unconscious and fell into a coma. She was transported to a hospital that was attached to a facility run by the organization. A doctor that was assigned to her informed the party that escorted them there that she would most likely be in the coma for a few weeks to two months at most.
