Chapter 30: Six Weeks Later
The Party remained in Man's World for six weeks awaiting the awakening of Artemis. They occupied the Lake House. The Lake House had enough rooms and food for everyone to live off comfortably. Lucy was finished with enough schoolwork at this point so she wouldn't need to worry about missing anything important. She chose to remain because she knew her brother needed emotional support. Alexa and Diana remained there for Artemis and they visited as many days as needed with Lincoln to watch her sleep in her bed. They constantly asked for updates on her condition. Almost every answer was to be patient and let her body heal on its own. Pop-Pop brought Lily from Michigan to the Lake House to be with her brother and adoptive mother. Lily and Alexa missed one another and they embraced each other when they saw each other the day Pop-Pop drove her to Wisconsin. Lincoln momentarily returned to Themyscira and relieved Rhea of her duty of looking after Linka. Lincoln brought Linka to Man's world because he knew he needed them all together so they await for Artemis' recovery. Linka was at first intimidated by Pop-Pop's appearance because this was the first man she ever saw that wasn't her brother. John was stationed at the base she was recovering at so he visited her and spent hours with her every day. It too was very tiring for the agent because of the incident in Chicago, the supernatural and the organization he served was exposed to the public and the press couldn't keep their distance from the constant press conferences and nagging from journalists greatly annoyed him. On one fateful day, Lincoln received a message from John informing him that Artemis had awoken and he was with her right now. The whole party rushed to the base to see Artemis with John by her side. The newly awakened Artemis embraced her nephew, nieces, sister, her future daughter in law. They all caught up with current events. Artemis requested all but Alexa, Diana, and Lincoln to exit the room. John and Artemis wished to speak with them privately on a serious matter.
"When I awoke with John besideme, I was informed by the doctor that I am on my way to making a full recovery from the injury I sustained from our previous battle. " Artemis explained to the trio. She continued.
"However, there is something else I was informed of. I am pregnant. "
The trio with her with shocked expressions but they all knew how it happened. They still needed to process that she is with child.
" John and I talked and I have decided to remain in Man's world until the child is born. But we are gonna work together to make this relationship work for our child. I know as well as you three that our Queen would never allow him on Themyscira. And John and his overseer who came in earlier that I am more than eligible to work with this organization. The same applies to you three. That is all I have to say. ". Artemis concluded.
Alexa was the first to speak up. " Looks like it is my turn to be the fun aunt." She said with an excited look on her face.
They continued to talk until the Doctor gave her an official notice to discharge her from the hospital. The Party returned to the Lake House to conclude the day. Diana and Lincoln shared a room together. While John and Artemis had their own as well. Alexa went to slumber in a bed the same but with Linka and Lily holding tight onto her.
