Haelth Challenge A Bunch Of Ghosts

"Ready?" Susie asked the gang. Oliver carries a medic kit, Haelth has a bat, Melody has a pickaxe, and Scott has a shovel. Ace, Deuce, and Grim don't need weapons as they have their magic. Susie herself doesn't have a weapon but a lamp.

Deuce steps forward and cracks his knuckles

"Let's go!" He told them. All of them nodded and stepped into the mirror one at a time.

The lights and colors swirl around Melody making her feel like her stomach drops but she looks on in awe at the same time. When it settled into the muted night sky the moon shed light on the woods. The group was silent as they tried to settle from their first trip through the mirror

"So this is the Dwarfs' Mine…" Deuce broke the silence and startled Melody, "Long ago, this mine was flush with magestones."

"What happened?" Melody asked him.

"I don't know. People said there was a horrible accident-" Deuce was about to explain but he was cut off by Haelth shouting.

"Guys look I found a cottage!" She told them. Everyone looked at where Haelth was pointing and sure enough, down the path there was a small cottage in the woods, which looked so run down that it belonged in a horror movie.

"Not creepy," Melody said with sarcasm.

"Hope we don't run into a serial killer in there," Scott chimes in.

Deuce looked at them confused, "What are you all talking about?" He asked them as they made their way into the cottage.

"Oh, it references a movie series about a serial killer," Melody told him. Deuce gulps and Ace smirks at him.

"What you're scare Juice?" He teased another student.

Deuce glared at Ace, "Shut up Ace! And called me by my real name! You know it!"

Ace rolled his eyes, "Yeah, yeah sure." He said as he continued down the path. Deuce looked at him in disbelief, pouted, and went after him with others in tow.

When they got into the house, it wasn't good. It, was as bad as the Ramshackle dorm: cracked walls, overturned furniture, and dirt everywhere. Spiderwebs in a lot of spaces too.

"Hellooo? Is anybody home...?" Deuce called out but got no answer in return, "Must be empty. It looks like it's been abandoned."

"Oh, you think?" Melody mocked him.

"Hey, I'm not going to take it from you guys! I already have enough of it from Ace!" Deuce turns to her. He and Melody start arguing back and forth while Ace watches on, wishing he had popcorn.

Grim ignored them and explored, and when he was under the kitchen table, his face was filled with spider webs.

"Bwah! I got a spider web on my face! Ptchoo! Ptchoo!" Grim wipes his face. Susie knees down and pulls him up to her shoulder so he doesn't get hit by another web.

"Look how tiny these desks and chairs are. Did children live here?" Ace wonders out loud.

"Whoever they are they left in hurry," Oliver said looking over the kitchen, "They left a lot of stuff here." He said to point out pieces of furniture and items they leave behind.

Ace looks at the chairs next to the table and starts to count them.

"One, two... Seven! It's like a clown car in here." Ace joked which was met with blank stares from the others—Ace's eyebrow twitched.

"Hey guys! Look I found a picture!" Haelth told them as she ran in from the living room with a picture frame. She put it down on the table and the gang took a look. It was small people with mining clothes and pointy ears.

"Oh, dwarves live here!" Deuce exclaimed.

"That explains why everything is so small," Oliver added.

"Wait wouldn't your joke count as being racist because you make fun of their size?" Haelth asked innocently to Ace.

Ace's face turns red as his hair, "SHUT IT-" Scott covers his mouth so he doesn't have to hear it.

"Guys, I don't think we will find any answers here. Let's… head into the caves." He pointed out. Everyone looked at each other, then him, and nodded.

"Agreed."

"You wanna go inside THERE?" Grim exclaimed pointing at the entrance, "It's pitch black!"

The entrance to mine was pitch black, giving it an eerie look. Scott feels a cold breeze from the mines. It almost felt like someone had taken the first breath of the day when it was winter but without the stink of his mom's chili.

Which was good by the way!

"Why is your eyebrow twitching?" Susie asked him.

"Nothing," Scott said.

Ace turns to Grim, ignoring them, "What, are you scared of the dark? Pathetic." He teased him.

Grim growled at him, "Yeah, well," Grim walked over to Haelth push her in front of Ace, "You're scared of her!"

Ace glared at him, "AM NOT!"

Haelth narrows her eyes and tenses up as if she is ready to jump at him.

"Ahh!" Ace holds his arms up to defend himself. Only to meet with everyone laughing at him. His face turned red and he moved around Haelth, "Ha ha! So funny I forgot to laugh." He huffed as he took off suddenly into the cave.

"Wait, Ace! Don't go in alone!" Susie shouted as she went after him. The rest went after her, but Haelth and Grim were the last ones to leave because Haelth turned to the monster cat to ask.

"Did we take it too far?" She questioned him.

Grim waved his paw at her, "Nah, I say he deserves it." With that, the two dive on in.

Scott turned on the lamp and it took a while for his eyes to adjust. It is cold with the breeze from the opening of the cave. Brownstone has gems stuck to it here and there. Scott sees wooden beans hold the cave up, his eyes catch gleaming metal rail tracks that have rust with age and wooden carts that don't look like they've been used in years.

"Are these what we are looking for?" Oliver asked Ace as he pointed at one of the gems.

Ace shook his head, "No, I think it's bigger and glowing." He pointed out.

"That would be too easy," Oliver huffed as he looked down the mines.

Different tunnels go in different directions, "Which way do we go?" He asked Ace.

Before he could answer Deuce saw something farther in the tunnels.

"Huh? Hold up!" He shouted and turned to Scott, "Can I borrow that?" He points at the lamp.

Scott blinked, "Huh why?" He asked.

Deuce looks down the tunnel, "I thought I saw something…" Scott narrows his eyes and hands him the lamp. Deuce thanks him and stands in front of them with the lamp in hand.

Ace noticed this exchange and sighed, "What now?"

The others also took note and looked down the hallway that Deuce was looking down.

"There's something there!" Deuce shouted and pulled out his pen. There was chilled laughter down the dark tunnels and everyone tensed up.

"Myah?!" Grim yelps as the white face of a ghost appears in front of him. The monster cat immediately ran up to Susie's shoulder, who watched the ghost in fear but covered Grim out of instinct.

"Hee hee hee hee! Visitors! The first in ten years!" One of the ghosts giggled.

"Do make yourselves at home... You can stay forever!" Everyone took a step back in fear beside Haelth. Who tilted her head.

"Run!" The group runs down the hallway, the ghost laughs seeing them flee. They were about to chase after them but noticed Haelth who was just standing there, staring at them.

"...Is there something wrong?" One of the ghosts asked her.

Haelth pointed at them, "Staring contest! You vs me! I want to find the magestone!"

Everyone blindly runs away from the ghosts with Deuce leading the way because he has the lamp. They come to a fork in the mine and Ace is about to go to the right one but Deuce holds him back.

"This way!" He shouted at him.

Ace brushed him aside, "Don't act like we voted you team leader! The only reason we're here in the first place is because of that stupid stunt you pulled." he pointed out.

Deuce feel his eyebrow twitch, "Oh? I'm pretty sure this all started because you tried to shirk your window-cleaning punishment!" He points out.

Ace rolls his eyes, "So, we're bringing up ancient history now? Then if you wanna get down to brass tacks, this all started when the Furball torched that statue!"

Oliver blinked, "...That happened a few minutes ago." He pointed out. Ace ignores him but deep down he knows he is right.

"Myah?! Maybe you shouldn'ta made fun of me, then!" Grim add-in.

"Um…guys?" Susie looks around them and everyone turns to her, "Where's Haelth?" Everyone is frozen as if struck by lightning and looks around. No sign of the familiar red-head.

"Did…" Melody speaks up and looks behind them in the tunnel, "Did we leave her back with the ghosts?" She feels sweat going down her brow.

"How did we leave her behind!?" Susie ran her hands through her pink hair in panic, "She must be panicking right now!"

"And that's how me and my friends almost caused a fire." Haelth finishes her story. Ghosts look at her dumbfounded.

"I wonder how you guys are still alive and not in jail yet." One of the ghosts' comments.

Haelth shrugs, "According to the cops, they can't jail 7-year-olds."

"We need to go back," Susie said while walking back. Scott, Melody, Oliver, and even Deuce nodded.

Ace holds his hands, "Woah, woah wait!" He appeared in front of them, "Hear me out, how about we just take the magestone and leave." He said.

"Why?" Melody spoke up, "Ghosts are not that strong. Me and Grim beat up the ghost in our dorm by ourselves and it turned out fine."

Ace blinked in surprise, "Really?"

"Really." The main five spoke up.

"Hey guys!" Grim shouted behind them, "Look what I found!" Everyone turns to where Grim is and sees he is holding multiple colored gemstones.

"I think I found the magestone! As usual, the Great Grim proves once again why he is better than you humans for while you arguing I found the…" That's when he noticed everyone looking behind him in fear.

"What?" He asked.

"Grim…" Oliver said, his voice filled with fear, "Behind you!" He pointed behind Grim.

Grim tilted his head in confusion but shrugged and looked behind him. What he saw shook him to his core. It was a huge monster with a glass head that had ink inside the glass. Some of which was spilling out. It was wearing mine clothes and holding a large pickaxe towards Grim.

"Stooonesss... ...nevvva give stooonesss...!"

That's a wrap and if I play my cards right then in two chapters we be done with the prologue. Cross your fingers for that to happen.
