Is The Dark All Dark?

Chapter 6

Harry stood with his arms crossed, glaring around the Great Hall. Dumbledore stood up from the table, placing his hands down as he peered at the young wizard. His blue eyes had lost their normal gleam as he realized just where the boy had disappeared during the summer. From his obvious new looks he had learned about his true heritage but that just left him to wonder, how.

"Harry, my boy, perhaps this is a conversation that would be better had in my office." Dumbledore stated. Draco didn't bother hiding the frown that graced his face as he watched his brother walk between the Gryffindor and Ravenclaw tables, towards the teachers' table.

"No, I think this is a conversation best had here. In front of everyone so they can know just how it is my name came out of the cup." Harry stated. Padfoot growled at his feet when Ron and Hermione stepped towards the small group.

"Harry don't be so dramatic. The Headmaster just wants to talk to you in private. Listen to him." Hermione stated, crossing her arms as she stood next to the table.

"Unless it has something to do with my magical education or this tournament I will not listen to him." Harry stated, crossing his arms. The two visiting schools remained silent, watching the stand of between boy and headmaster. Draco couldn't help but groan, knowing their mother and father would have scolded him for such rash and unacceptable behavior. Daphne was silent as she sat at the Slytherin table, watching the confrontation. Everyone could see the clear obvious features that but there was something else there that caught her attention. She briefly glanced at Draco, feeling the slight similarity in their magical signatures now, easily finally figuring out just why her fellow Slytherin had seemed so worried about his school rival.

"Professor McGonagall will get Harry his class schedule so he can attending them with his year mates during the tournament." Albus stated, clapping his hands together, forcing a smile on his face.

"That won't be necessary. Auror Tonks and I have taken over his lessons and will continue to teach him. We have filed all of the necessary paperwork with the Ministry so there will be no reason for him to return to Hogwarts lessons." Remus stated, finally speaking up. Tonks simply nodded, glaring at her old headmaster. Harry gave Dumbledore and his ex-friends one final glare before he turned and walked out of the Great Hall, attempting to control the tremble in his hands at having to face the old wizard in front of everyone. Padfoot walked at his side, his fur brushing against Harry's leg as they walked.

"That was nerve wracking..." Harry whispered, pulling open the flap of the wizards tent Hagrid had been nice enough to set up for them. Sirius shifted back, standing in front of his godson once they were inside, placing his hands on his shoulders.

"You handled Dumbledore really well. I am proud of you." Sirius stated, offering him a kind smile. Izzy popped into view, holding a tray up that held two hot chocolates.

"Miss Tonks and Mr. Lupin being talking to Deputy Kitty. They'll be back soon." she commented, looking up at them. Harry managed a mute nod as he moved to sit on the couch, leaning his head back and closing his eyes.

"I didn't get a chance to tell you this morning before we left the house, but I love the blue." Sirius joked, reaching out to ruffle his godson's hair. Harry released a small chuckle, reaching up to swat his hand away.

"Tonks thought it would look better than just having Malfoy blonde hair. Sets me apart from...from them. I'm just glad she used muggle hair dye instead of trying to spell it this color. I doubt it would have worked the wizard way." Harry breathed, releasing a small chuckle as he thought about Tonks fighting to apply the muggle dye.

"Potter! Are you in there?" Draco's voice suddenly echoed from just outside the tent. Harry groaned, rubbing the palms of his hands against his eyes for a moment before he stood up. Sirius could only watch in silence as the young male walked back to the entrance of the tent.

"What do you want Draco? I need to finish my study plan for the day than work on some training. I don't have time for your petty arguments anymore." Harry stated firmly as he opened the front flap. Draco took a step back, slightly caught off guard at the sight of his twin when he got a closer look. In the Great hall he hadn't been able to see his new features from the distance and at the time he had been more relieved to know his twin was alright.

"Look I'm not here to pick a fight with you. I know you don't want to accept it any more than I do but we are brothers. Mother and father have been really worried since you just disappeared from the Leaky Cauldron during the summer. They just wanted what was best for you. Why would you just disappear like that?" Draco questioned. Harry crossed his arms, raising an eyebrow as he watched the Slytherin.

"Why wouldn't I? Mr. Malfoy never gave me any reason to trust him. Your mother, the brief moment I saw her, seemed like she would rather anyone but me. And you...you have hated me since that first night at Hogwarts on the train." He stated. He didn't miss the way Draco flinched at the mention of their second meeting.

"And yeah, I know now that I didn't handle that the proper way of an heir in the wizarding world, but I didn't know that than. All I saw was a rich kid being a jerk just because he saw some famous kid who didn't know what all was going on and came from a not-so-great home." He continued, leaning back against the tent. He was thankful for magic since it held his weight easily. He spotted Remus and Tonks walking towards them across the open landing.

"My parents are yours too! You can't just ignore that!" Draco stated, balling his hands into fists at his side.

"I can actually. As far as I'm concerned my parents were killed that Halloween night by Voldemort. Remus, Tonks and...they've shown me more love and kindness than anyone in my life. Your family might be great but until I see that they care and aren't going to try and change me I want nothing to do with them." Harry stated firmly before he turned and walked back into the tent. Sirius pushed off the center pillar watching as his godson's face fell for a moment, knowing he wanted to give the Malfoys a chance, but he didn't want to get hurt.

"You handled that surprisingly well. I thought I was going to have to step in." Tonks stated as she stepped inside with Remus.

"You release he's going to wait out there until you talk to him right? He didn't really show any signs of leaving." Remus stated, crossing his arms. While he did understand where Harry was coming from he personally wished Harry and Draco would talk and work their differences out. Harry couldn't help releasing a small groan, glaring at his godfather when Sirius released a chuckle.

Draco had attempted to enter the tent but figured that it was warded against any unwanted guests entered since he'd bounced back. He paced in front of the tent for several moments before he moved to lean against one of the trees around the area. His gaze remained locked on the tent entrance, waiting and hoping Harry would come back out.

After dark, Harry glanced around the tent, sure that everyone was asleep before he slipped outside, feeling like he needed some fresh air. His mind was still reeling from the conversation with Malfoy earlier, honestly wondering if what he'd said held any truth to it. He wanted to be happy and excited about having a family but his past was stopping him, knowing already he would never be good enough for the Malfoys. He shoved his hands into his pockets as he walked along the grass, lost in thought. His bangs fell in his eyes as he looked down.

"Just because you are not a current student at Hogwarts Mr. Potter does not mean you can simply wander around after curfew." A voice stated behind him, startling him from his thoughts. He glanced over his shoulder, frowning in annoyance when he saw the Potions Master.

"You can't do anything to punish me sir. I don't exactly have any points for you to take and since I'm not your student you can't give me a detention." Harry stated, ducking around the teacher. Snape gritted his teeth, balling his hands into fists as he glared at the boy.

"I see you're still the annoying, selfish brat." Snape sneered.

"Just like James right? Just because my looks change doesn't mean your opinion of me is going to change. Just because Lucius Malfoy is my blood father doesn't mean I'm any different. I've gone through too much growing up to let a man I don't even know define me." The younger male calmly stated. He turned, walking in the direction of the tent, hoping the potions professor wouldn't say anything.

"You don't know anything about going through hardships. You've grown up spoilt-" Snape began. Harry balled his hands into fists, slamming to a stop.

"You don't know anything about me! You keep saying I was spoilt, that I'm just like James Potter! I was raised with muggles that hated me, that treated my magic like it was a curse! So I don't want to hear what you have to say to me when you don't know anything about me!" Harry finally snapped, jerking around to face him. He faltered when he felt a hand on his shoulder, looking up at Remus. His other godfather carefully pushed him in the direction of their tent. Harry glanced between the two of them before slipping back inside. He brushed past Sirius, heading straight for his bed.

"I'm going to get some sleep. The wand ceremony is after lunch, so I want to get some training done before that." Harry muttered under his breath.
