Really wanted to go ahead and most the next chapter. Hope everyone likes it. It's more of a filler chapter featuring all of the Malfoys.

Is The Dark All Dark?

Chapter 13

Once Harry had fallen asleep Remus and Tonks cornered Sirius, demanding to know just what had happened.

"Like I said everything went fine at the bank. Harry is now considered Lord Potter and neither the Malfoys nor Dumbledore will have any say in the kid's life, whether it's what he does or where he lives." Sirius explained, sitting on the couch in the center room. Tonks released a small breath of relief as she sat down beside him. Remus crossed his arms, knowing there was more to the story.

"Lucius showed up at the Leaky Cauldron. He didn't attempt anything so don't worry about that. Honestly it was a little weird, but he spent the whole type just…explaining stuff to Harry about his assets and a few of the smaller properties. Just…doing stuff we always expected James to do with him. I could tell Harry was actually enjoying it." Sirius continued, shaking his head.

"Which explains why he kept saying he was betraying them. He enjoyed getting to spend that time with Lucius and he feels like he's betraying Lily and James because his birth father is a known death eater." Remus sighed, shaking his head. He sat in the chair closest to the small furnace, getting lost in thought as he tried to think of some way to help with their current situation. Between the tournament, Dumbledore and the Malfoys, Harry had been jerked in nearly every direction since the end of Summer. He hadn't had a chance to actually be a kid since the Potters had died and it seemed no matter how hard they tried it just wasn't in the cards.

"Narcissa…showed up after a few hours. She wanted to spend time with Harry, and it caused him to panic. I personally think it would be good for him. It's what Lily and James both wanted. You both saw Lily's note. If he'd been raised with me, he would have known the truth a long time ago." Sirius sighed, reaching up to jerk his fingers through his hair, frustrated for his godson. Their whole situation was a huge mess.

"Do you think it would be a good idea for them to go somewhere alone? Lucius is still a death eater and from everything we've learned, Voldemort is still out there but…we don't know where." Tonks questioned, glancing between the two Gryffindors.

"Not alone, no. Besides I don't Harry is anywhere near ready for that. Today was the first time he'd even been around Lucius without it turning into a full out argument that Izzy must get him out of." Sirius stated, giving his head a shake.

"If we can convince Harry to spend time with them I personally think one of us needs to go with him. It can't be Sirius for very obvious reasons. I don't think I would be the best choice simply for my…furry problem. Tonks you actually might have the best chance. Narcissa is your aunt after all, even if she and your mother don't talk anymore." Remus suggested. The ends of Tonks' hair turned a green shade for a moment at the thought of spending time with either of her aunts. Sirius couldn't help but laugh at her reaction, remembering his own distaste of spending time with the Black sisters himself.

"I'll do it for Harry. But only when he's ready." She stated, a tone to her voice that left no room for arguments as she glanced between the two men. She frowned before standing from the seat, walking to her part of the tent.

Malfoy Manor

Lucius sat in his office, silently tapping the quill against the parchment, lost deep in his thoughts. A cup of tea sat forgotten on the desk where one of the house elves had left it for him shortly after he'd returned to the manor after his unplanned lunch with Harry. A small smile graced his lips as he thought about the small amount of time he'd gotten to spend with his youngest.

"Lucius? It's late. Dinner's been ready for a little while now." Narcissa stated softly, stepping into his office. He glanced up at his wife for a moment before looking back down at the paperwork in front of him. It was a copy of Harry's finances he'd received at the end of the summer along with Harry's heritage report. He still felt angered reading it, learning that several of his son's natural gifts had been blocked, leaving him unable to rise to his fullest potential. He'd been potioned to hate his family and to blindly trust a family of the 'light'.

"What is all this?" Narcissa questioned, gently placing her hand on his shoulder once she'd moved to his side.

"The scan the goblins did on Harry at the bank when we first got the letter. When I found out the truth." Lucius sighed, reaching up to rub his eyes. He'd been blindly staring at the papers for at least an hour.

"What are you going to do about whatever it is that has you so bothered?" she questioned. He flipped one of the pages showing her the monthly transfers to several accounts. Narcissa frowned, her anger growing further down the list she went.

"They were stealing from him? What kind of sick person steals from a child?!" she demanded, her magic sparking around her for a moment at the thought of the people that her son had trusted had only been doing it for money.

"Harry doesn't want to do anything about it right now which shows just how forgiving he is. I would have already reclaimed every last bit of it plus interest." Lucius sighed, shaking his head. He reached up, placing his hand over hers. Both of them looked up when one of the house elves popped into the room, dropping into a low bow.

"Potion Master Prince is waiting in the receiving room for Lord and Lady." The elf stated, lifting his head just enough to look at them.

"Inform him we'll be there in just a moment. Have another place prepared for dinner." Narcissa instructed, stepping back to allow her husband to stand from the desk.

Severus glanced up from where he had been leaning against the wall with his arms crossed. He glanced between the two Malfoys, releasing an annoyed sigh as he straightened up.

"Is everything alright with Draco?" Narcissa questioned, worried for her eldest son since unlike Harry, Draco was stuck in the castle with Dumbledore.

"Draco is fine. I'm here for another reason that has nothing to do with Hogwarts. I received a message this morning from the Dark Lord. He requested several different potions for me to prepare for him. Each one designed to help him regain his strength and magic." Severus stated, watching the look they both shared. Lucius couldn't help the small pang of hurt that his own godfather hadn't contacted him first but he did understand that the last time they'd seen each other it hadn't ended on the best of terms.

"Why are you here telling us this?" Narcissa questioned, gently taking her husband's hand.

"Because none of us even knew he was even remotely back to his full strength. Which means there is a chance that he's the reason for Harry being tossed into the Triwizard Tournament. And if Potter is actually your son like you're so adamant he is, there is a chance he's in danger." Severus explained like it should have been common sense.

"Who could he possibly have inside Hogwarts? I wouldn't think Dumbledore would hire anyone else that was openly marked with the Dark Mark that he doesn't have any form of control over." Lucius stated, frowning. He couldn't help racking his brain, attempting to remember who all had been hired as new professors at the beginning of term.

"No surprise but I'm clueless. No one that I know of on the current staff at Hogwarts has the mark. But I don't know anything about either of the two visiting schools other than Durmstrang's headmaster. However, he's a coward. His mark has been darkening slightly and he came to me in a complete panic." The potion master commented, shaking his head. Lucius simply nodded, wondering just what his own godfather was up to and what plans he had for the boy he now knew to be his son. When Hadrian had been born, Marvolo had felt drawn to him, but they'd never had a chance to figure out why before he'd gone missing.

"It's getting late. We'll figure all of this out and do our best to keep Harry safe. Severus, I've had a house elf prepare you a plate if you'd like to stay for dinner." Narcissa stated, looking between her husband and his friend. Severus simply nodded, following them from the room.

After dinner Lucius returned to his study, glancing around the office that held many memories of his own childhood. Moments with both his godfather and his own father, memories of growing up and raised to be the proper Slytherin that was expected of him. After Harry had been taken, he'd shut himself off. He knew that he hadn't given Draco the proper attention he should have, raising him to be the perfect heir more than actually treating him as his son.

"Try not to stay up too late. You do have a meeting with the Minister in the morning than you're supposed to pick up Draco's dress robes." Narcissa suggested softly from the doorway before heading to their room. Lucius waved his wand to blow out the candles when he heard a tapping on the windows, drawing his attention. He frowned, stepping over to open the window just enough to let the snow-white owl in.

"Who in Merlin's name is sending a letter this late at night?" he muttered, confusion evident on his face as he walked towards the window.

Hogwarts – Slytherin Common Room

Draco was silent as he sat on one of the couches in the common room, a book lying open on his lap. A bored expression on his face as he leaned back, lost in his thoughts. Blaise and Daphne shared a look, sitting on one of the couches across from him. Both of them knew he wasn't actually reading the book, but neither knew what to say to pull him from his thoughts. Since Harry's performance in the first task, the elder Malfoy twin had seemed slightly more reserved. They'd seen the actual concern and fear he had for his twin, even if he refused to fully acknowledge it.

"Malfoy if you're not actually going to read that book than return it to the shelves. I'm sure there are several others who could use it for their own assignments." One of the Slytherin perfects called from one of the tables across the room. Draco jerked, sending the book tumbling from his lap. Daphne sighed, raising her wand to send the book back to its correct location.

"Why don't you head to bed Draco? I know you've been sleeping well. I share a dorm with you, and I know you don't even come to bed until well after midnight." Blaise commented, giving his best friend a concerned look.

"Because this whole tournament is a joke. Everyone keeps making jokes about Potter not making it past the next task and it worries me. I just found my brother and…he doesn't even acknowledge me as his brother. I've been a right prick to him since we got to Hogwarts. I've been crazy to even think he'd give me another chance." Draco vented, reaching up to brush his fingers through his hair, frustrated. Daphne couldn't help but sigh, knowing he had really been trying to make things right with Harry.

"Well…at least he can somewhat stand to be around you now. Something changed after the first task, even if we don't know what it was. He may not have spoken to you yet, but he doesn't completely avoid you anymore when you come into the library or venture out onto the grounds." She commented, hoping to at least ease some of his worries. Draco rolled his eyes as he leaned back against the couch again, crossing his arms.

"Just because he doesn't completely avoid me anymore doesn't mean we're even close to being friends." he muttered, a defeated tone to his voice. Daphne and Blaise shared a look for a moment before each returning to their assignments.

"Mr. Malfoy I sure hope your potions assignment is finished to my expectations since you're just lazing around while your house mates work on theirs." Severus stated as he walked through the common room. Draco flinched slightly, quickly sitting up. He glanced over his shoulder for a moment, catching the disapproving look on his godfather's face.

"Just taking a small break." He objected, offering an embarrassed smile as he reached for the parchment and quill he'd tossed on the couch beside him. Daphne couldn't help rolling her eyes as she continued working on her own assignment.

"I would hate to have him as a godfather. That's a lot of extra pressure to do great in potions than what you already have with him just as a regular professor." Blaise muttered, glancing at his friend again.

"Imagine how it would have been if Professor Snape had known Harry was his godson before he left Hogwarts. That would have been a complete nightmare." Draco muttered in response, thinking about just how horrible his twin had been in their potions class. He knew some of it had been his fault, but a lot of it had been Harry's for not actually paying attention to the instructions that the professor had written on the board.

Once the trio had completed their assignments, Draco decided to slip out of the common room, intending to spend some time out on the grounds before curfew. He shoved his hands in his pockets as he walked through the quiet halls, glancing around each time he passed a student. It was only a half moon that night, meaning there was still plenty of light to see the courtyard. He glanced across to the tent that had been set up by the lake, wondering if there was any chance Harry would still be up. He couldn't help biting his lip for a moment before deciding to see if he could talk to his brother, even if it was for just a moment.

"It's late Mr. Malfoy, shouldn't you already be retiring to bed?" Remus questioned, watching the young wizard walk up. He was sitting outside on the grass with Tonks, a small fire going between them. Draco glanced around for the large black dog that always seemed to follow his twin around, figuring he would be out if Harry had already gone to bed.

"If you've come to try and talk to Harry again, he's already asleep. He had a trying day today and ended up calling it early." Tonks commented, seeing him looking towards the tent.

"Why don't you all stay in the castle? I can understand why the other schools don't. They had time to prepare their own arrivals and sleeping quarters before the tournament. You guys are sleeping in a wizards tent instead of in the school." Draco questioned, frowning as he debated sitting on the ground next to them. Even if he was trying to change for his family, he wouldn't lower himself to sitting in the dirt like some muggle born.

"Because we must think about what is best for Harry. We still don't know how he ended up being entered into this tournament. There could be anyone lurking around wanting to cause him harm inside the castle. We don't know just who we can trust." She explained, chuckling at the look of disgust on her cousin's face.

"Plus, Harry is doing more…practical work than actually book work. So being outside means that he has a whole open area to train with his magic. It's not restricted to the size of whatever room Professor Dumbledore would decide to give us use of." Remus added. Draco slowly nodded, remembering the sparring matches he had watched between Harry and Tonks. Their spells had been flying all over the place and he'd watched them use their surroundings as barriers and cover.

"So what do you do during a full moon? I don't think very many parents would be happy about having a werewolf run around Hogwarts again. That's why you got fired in the first place right? Even though you were probably the best Defense Against The Dark Arts teacher we had." Draco questioned bluntly, not missing the way Remus flinched. The older wizard reached up, rubbing the back of his head as he released a nervous chuckle.

"Harry's…grandparents on James' side. They had a section of the forest at the manor warded for me when we were teens. Izzy, Harry's house elf, takes me there just before nightfall. So I'm nowhere near the castle so no one's in any kind of danger. Tonks usually stays here to keep Harry company." He explained, glancing at the Metamorphmagus. Draco slowly nodded, glancing between the two of them.

"You should head back inside. It's getting late and I don't think Professor Snape would take to kindly to one of his snakes being outside the castle this close to curfew." Remus suggested, jerking his head back towards the castle. Draco simply nodded before leaving. He glanced over his shoulder again, looking back towards the tent before slipping inside.

Hope everyone enjoyed the newest chapter. Poor Draco doesn't know what to do. Keep any eye out for the next chapter within the next few weeks.
