Chapter 3: Care for a stroll?
A/N: We're back with another chapter! Since Leon has Rachel's wallet that means he has to see her again, right?
Wonder how that interaction is going to go.
Sorry if this chapter is short but I wanted to get one out soon for you guys!

"Come on, where is it?!"
For the last half hour, Rachel was tearing apart her whole apartment looking for her wallet. She was so busy trying to get Isabella out of the bar last night that she didn't realize her wallet was missing until the next morning. Of course, she was freaking out because all of her cash and cards were in there, but it also housed her library card. She was planning to go to the library today so she could work on her thesis but with her wallet missing that wasn't going to happen. She could have gone to the one on campus, but she didn't want to deal with Marcus or accidentally run into Jeremy.
After going through her stuff for the tenth time, she realized her wallet wasn't here and was probably lost.
Hanging her head in defeat she knew that today was going to be a bad day. The logical thing to do was call her bank and cancel all of her cards but part of her said to just retrace her steps and hope she left it at the bar. Hopefully someone turned it in.
Grabbing her messenger bag, she headed back to that lousy bar.

With a clearer head, Leon headed back to the bar from last night to drop off the wallet. He didn't know what was going on in his head when he decided to hold onto it. His intentions were pure, but it made him look like he stole it. If he had stayed as a cop like he wanted to once upon a time he would have arrested people for doing similar stunts.
Hopefully that girl wasn't freaking out too much that it was gone. Then again, he could have just opened it up to get her contact info so he could call her to let her know he had it. He quickly shook the idea out of his head. The less involved the better. He was just going to drop it off at the bar and go back to his apartment and enjoy a very rare weekend off.
Reaching the bar, he was half surprised to see the girl from last night already there.
"Are you sure no one turned in a wallet from last night?" she asked.
The bartender looked annoyed as he gave her a tired look.
"For the last time, there was nothing that was turned in. You probably dropped it when you left or it's somewhere in your house" he said annoyed.
Rachel groaned. Why did her luck suck so bad? She knew that she should have played hooky on that party.
Her wallet flopped on the counter in front of her.
"Is this what you were looking for?" Leon asked.
Rachel jumped and whipped around in surprise. She didn't hear Leon as he walked up to her. The agent had a small grin on his face. He kinda enjoyed jump scaring her like that.
The shock wore off quickly as Rachel realized that her wallet was found.
"Oh, thank goodness!"
She quickly picked it and opened it to make sure nothing was missing. The bartender gave Leon a disgusted look.
"Do you make it a habit of taking a lady's wallet?"
Leon gave the bartender an equal look.
"This coming from the guy who served a bunch of college students a crap ton of alcohol…half of who were underage?"
The bartender gulped and quickly walked away to do something else. Leon rolled his eyes. He'd send in an anonymous call to the police later. For now, he was curious about his little pixie companion. He was expecting her to check that all of her cards and cash were still there but was surprised to see her get excited when she pulled out a library card.
"Perfect, it didn't get lost" she said to herself.
Leon raised an eyebrow in confusion.
"You're more worried about a library card than the fact that someone could have stolen your credit card and cash?"
Rachel glared at him and put her hands on her hips.
"Do you know how hard it is to get one of these? Getting registered at the library these days is just as bad as getting your license at the DMV. Besides I could have always canceled my cards if they were stolen"
Leon snorted.
"Least you know your priorities" he teased.
Rachel huffed in annoyance. She thought that maybe he was a nice guy after how last night went but maybe she thought too early.
"Anyway, thank you very much for returning my wallet" she said.
"I best be on my way. Library being busy with it being the weekend and all"
She hurried out of the bar and walked down the sidewalk. Leon smirked a little and leisurely followed her outside.
"You do know that the library is on the other side of town, right?" he called out.
Rachel froze in place. Slowly, she turned around with a huge blush on her face.
"I-I know that! I was just going to take the scenic route" she said.
"Yeah? Well with the way you were going, you were going to take a very long one" Leon teased.
Rachel blushed some more and quickly stormed past him.
"I know where I'm going! I'm not a complete airhead!" she snapped.
"I never said anything" Leon said.
"You were thinking it!"
For some reason, Leon found himself tagging along with her as they walked down the sidewalk.
"If you're a college student why not just go to the library that the campus provides?" he asked.
Rachel cleared her throat as she readjusted her messenger bag.
"I've read everything that's been provided and then some already, plus it tends to get noisy since it's a college library" she said.
"…that and I kinda have a love hate relationship with campus security and I don't feel like dealing with them today"
Leon raised an eyebrow.
"Oh?"
"You jump over the campus walls once because you're running late to class, and you're labeled for life" she sighed.
She snapped out of it when she realized she was spilling her guts to a complete stranger.
"Wait a minute, why am I telling you all of this?!"
Leon shrugged and looked ahead.
"You're the one who was talking. I never asked what you did" he pointed out.
Rachel blushed and looked ahead again.
"I guess another reason I don't go to the campus one is because I don't like dealing with a couple of my classmates. They don't take their classes serious and just want to party. I had to work my ass off to get here. Partying isn't going to get me my degree"
Leon didn't say much to that. He saw where she was coming from but at the same time it wasn't healthy to pour all her attention into studying. It was ok to live a little. Why else did he risk his neck trying to keep the world safe?
"I used to have the same mindset as you when I was your age. Almost burnt myself out doing so" he said.
"It's good that you want to focus on your studies but you gotta remember to enjoy yourself every now and then. Other wise you'll forget what it was that you were aiming for"
Rachel looked at him curiously. He talked in a similar manner last night. He must have seen and done it all.
"And what decade did you go to school?" she teased.
Leon looked at her with narrowed eyes.
"Nineteen-kiss-my-ass" he retorted.
Rachel snorted.
"That was a good year. Not as memorable and Eighteen-go-fuck-yourself though"
Leon couldn't help but chuckle at that. What do you know? The shy one had a sense of humor.
They reached a crossroad where it split the town into two parts. One end led to the library while the other lead to the shopping districts.
"Well, looks like this is where we part ways" she said.
"Thanks for escorting me"
"Just making sure you didn't get lost again, shorty" Leon teased.
Rachel rolled her eyes but smirked. It was obvious she heard that nickname before.
"Take care" she said as she walked away.
Leon watched as she left. What he said next still confused him to this day.
"I never did get your name"
Rachel paused and looked over her shoulder.
"You had my wallet, I'm sure you saw my ID" she pointed out.
"I don't make it a habit of going through a woman's belongings. Kinda scared of what I'll find" Leon joked.
"So, you gonna tell me your name?"
Rachel pretended to think it over then shook her head.
"Nah., I doubt we'll see each other again and you'll just forget it" she said.
She turned around and continued walking away.
"If we ever run into each other maybe I will" she called out.
Leon looked surprised for a second then chuckled. This girl really was interesting. But she had a point, he doubted that he would run into her again since it was a big town. Least she made his day interesting.
Deciding that it was a nice day out, he would take a stroll around town instead of heading back to his apartment.
Meanwhile Rachel was a blushing mess as she hurried to the library. Where did she get that boldness from?! She was just being logical about giving a random stranger her name and instead she made herself sound like a flirt!
'He was easy to talk to…and he had a nice smile' she thought.
She quickly shook that thought out of her mind.
'No, Rachel! Bad!'
She was going to ignore this and just focus on getting her thesis done. Studying was going to earn her degree, not talking to handsome men.
There was no reason to feel embarrassed by her actions. She wasn't going to run into him again anyway.
/
A/N:….it wouldn't be the last time lol.
Looks like Rachel can be a flirt when she wants to. She just has to work on the feeling embarrassed afterwards part. Even if Leon hasn't dated for a while, he can still be a charmer.
Hope you guys liked their first real interaction with each other. The first of many that's for sure lol.
Please review and tell me what you think!
Take care!
