There were scary models, realistic models, and adorable cutesy woosty like models.
Snape directed his new charge to the cute ones. The boy wanted a scary one, but it was to disturbing for Sev.
The boy chose one that had a more realistic Spider head, but still had a cute design... it was black and brown, and very fuzzy... resembling a cuter tarantula... to the point not even being the size of a great dane, could make it frightening.
The sales rep took the spider off the shelf, once Harry picked. And plugged it's head into a data pad.
"What would you like their gender to be?" He typed away, as he walked harry through the daunting task of programming the thing. Customizing everything, from its voice to its personality traits.
It took a good half an hour, before the robo-pet was even activated.
Its 8 digital eyes turned into a cloud of white and black pixels. Then formed into emoji faces, with question marks for the eyes within eyes.
The Emoji pupils went in different directions, as the cameras in its eyes looked all over it's surroundings... then one landed on Harry, and all eyes suddenly snapped towards the boy. The question emojis turned into bright smiles, some even had little hearts.
It hesitantly stood, clearly big enough for the little boy to ride. With him being stronger then a dozen men, despite how light he was.
"Har-eee," The creature sounded like bloody Wall-e. Speaking in mechanical, one word sentences. Cutely stumbling over the syllables.
"Hey Hedwig," The boy smiled.
The giant spider, gently nuzzles the boy, more little hearts appearing in his eyes.
Robo pets were programmed to love their owner unconditionally. With this one doubling as maid, pet, bodyguard, and videogame console.
Harry laughed happily, hugging the beast.
"Wuv, hAr-Eee" The spider insisted.
"I love you to!!!" Harry hugged his giant spider.
The sales rep smiled, as he connected a third wire into Harry. and went back to pressing buttons. "He'll work a lot like a hub computer, and server console. Any gaming cartridges you buy, can be plugged in behind a door, in the sides of his thorax. Which he'll be able to link you to, even when your awake.
"You'll be able to spend your every moment, in both the Oasis and real world. It will feel like multi-tasking, but you'll be able to play up to 42 games at once. Even carry on completely independent conversations, simultaneously. With hedwig here, by your side in all of them. Acting as your familiar, and operating system. He's not gonna cheat for you though. As it goes against the morality program all AIs are programmed with."
Sev rolled his eyes. "You mean the same ones Harry has in his head." Given the boy was a Bio-Android.
The Sales Rep chuckled nervously, "Sorry, I'm more used to dealing with people with cybernetic implants. Not a lot of bio androids can afford robo-pets, even if they are designed to be compatible with them.
"The stipend we give all bio-androids, doesn't leave room for much luxuries... and it can be difficult for them to find work outside our company. Given not many parents have the funds to buy a bio android child, AND upload in a cyber education. Most have to learn things the hard way, even if they do have an advantage with their computer based memory logs."
"Wuv! Har-eee!" Hedwig insisted, knocking the boy on the ground and laying on him. His programming told him it was okay to do that to Harry, but no one else. Harry was laughing madly, clearly happy with the eager Snuggles. Both Ignoring the adults.
Snape smiled. Already knowing this was worth the small fortune he spent for it.
"Careful Hedwig," The Sales Rep lightly chided. Which was ruined by the smile on his face. "you don't wanna accidentally yank out your cords." nothing bad would happen, besides the company having to delete the corrupted files, then reuploading them. The files couldn't affect their systems. Not until they were properly installed and approved. It just add an extra few minutes.
It took the better part of 7 hours, but they finally left the Ogden Morrow Cybernetics Hospital.
The spider scurried into the backseats of Snape's car, while Harry sat in the front. Going off to their new home.
