Thank you everyone for the reviews and for basically giving my new Naley story a chance. Also to be honest Chris Keller for Haley wasn't my first choice. I thought about pairing her up with either Chase or Julian but I ended up writing Chris Keller instead lol. For Nathan I wanted to match him with Renee mainly because I thought it would work for this story. But don't worry though, Nathan and Haley will find their way back to each other. Just not sure when.
Driving through the streets of Tree Hill, Haley felt a little nervous for some reason, which was kind of weird because Haley had no reason to feel nervous about anything. She was just going over to Nathan's house to pick up her kids; there was no reason for her to be nervous. Besides, she had already called Nathan this morning before she and Chris flew into town to let him know that she would be coming home today and she would be picking Jamie and Lydia up. What she didn't tell him was that Chris was going to be with her as well.
Haley pulled in front of Nathan's house and as she turned off the engine. She sighed deeply as she looked over at Chris."I am just going to go get Jamie and Lydia, and I will be right back out with them."She said as she quickly gave Chris a kiss before getting out of her car and walking up to Nathan's door.
Taking a deep breath, Haley reached out and pressed the doorbell. She then looked around for a moment as she waited patiently for someone to answer the door.
Hearing the doorbell, Jamie jumped up from the couch as he ran towards the door and reached for the door knob to answer it. Once he opened the door, a huge grin spread across his face when he saw who it was. "Mama!" he exclaimed, stepping out and wrapping his arms around her, hugging her tightly.
Hey baby," Haley said as she knelt down and hugged him back just as tightly before kissing the side of his head. "Oh, I've missed you so much." She said as she was happy to be home and to have her son in her arms once more. She couldn't wait to hold her baby girl again.
"Jamie, who's at the door?" Renee asked as she walked towards the door with Lydia in her arms. "Haley, what are you doing here?" Renee asked as she didn't expect to see Haley back in town, let alone on her doorstep.
Haley looked up and smiled at Renee, but her smile quickly faded when she saw Renee holding Lydia. As soon as she spotted Lydia, Haley felt anger welling up inside her. Taking a deep breath, she forced herself to smile softly at the little girl. "Hey, baby girl," she said, taking Lydia out of Renee's arms without even acknowledging her presence.
"Did you miss me?" Mommy definitely missed you," Haley said softly as she held Lydia closer and kissed her forehead. "I love you so much," she whispered as she closed her eyes and rested her forehead gently against Lydia's.
" So you're just going to ignore me?" Renee asked with annoyance.
Haley sighed. "Where's Nathan?" she asked, as he was the person she wanted to talk to, not Renee. As a matter of fact, Haley would have wished Renee wasn't standing there. She would never ever be friends with Renee or even try to be nice to her, either.
" Dad's upstairs in his office on the phone with uncle Clay." Jamie answered.
"Of course he is," Haley said with a scoff as she shook her head. Clay Evans was another reason why her and Nathan's marriage had gone to hell. Clay may not have intentionally gotten Nathan drunk that night, but he should have stopped him from getting too drunk, or at least made sure Renee stayed away from Nathan.
" Want me to go get him?" Jamie asked.
Haley looked down at her son with a smile and nodded her head. "Yes, please," she answered as she watched Jamie run into the house to find Nathan. "Come on, sweetie," she said as she walked back toward her car to place Lydia in her car seat.
Renee scoffed, rolling her eyes as she turned and found Nathan carrying Jamie and Lydia's things. "Why didn't you tell me that your ex-wife was back in town?" she asked, crossing her arms over her chest and glaring at Nathan.
Nathan shrugged his shoulders."I guess, I forgot," he said as he kissed her cheek quickly. "I will be right back." He said as he walked past Renee and followed Jamie out the door.
"Unbelievable," Renee said as she threw her hands up and ran upstairs to check on their son. For almost a year now, both Nathan and Renee had been doing great. Everything was fine, and now here came Haley showing up like it was nothing and ruining everything.
As Nathan got closer to Haley's car, he noticed Chris Keller sitting on the passenger side. He rolled his eyes and walked over to her trunk to place the kids' suitcases. After he closed the trunk, Nathan walked over to Haley before she got into the car. "You didn't tell me that Chris was going to be here," he said.
Haley shrugged her shoulders a little."You're not my husband anymore, which means I don't have to tell you anything anymore, including Chris." She said as she walked past him and got behind the wheel, closing the door as she sighed deeply.
" Thank you for taking care of them, while I was gone." Haley said softly.
" They're mine kids too Hales, you know that I would always take care of them no matter what." Nathan said as he placed both hands into his pockets.
Haley nodded her head."Yeah, I know. We should get home. I'll talk to you later." She said as she got buckled in and started up the car once more."Oh, one more thing," Haley continued. "Can you tell Renee not to carry our daughter anymore? I would really appreciate it."
Nathan sighed as he placed his hands on Haley's door." Why do you have a problem with her carrying Lydia?"
Because she's our daughter, Nathan, and I don't want your new girlfriend thinking that just because you two are together and have a child together, that she can play "mommy" with our own children." Haley answered angrily.
Nathan sighs once more." I'll talk to her."
" See ya Nate." Chris said with a huge grin on his face.
"Whatever," Nathan grumbled as he stepped away from Haley's car and waved goodbye to Jamie and Lydia as he watched Haley drive off. He ran his fingers through his hair and blew out a breath before turning around and heading back inside.
Later that evening after Haley read Lydia a bedtime story and after she checked on Jamie. Haley walked into the kitchen and helped Chris clean up the kitchen, before going to bed herself." So, Lucas called." Haley started to say as she started to wipe down the kitchen table.
"Really? What did Lucas have to say?" Chris asked as he placed the plates they used for dinner tonight into the dishwasher.
" He and Brooke are taking the girls to the beach and he wanted to know if Jamie and Lydia wanted to come." Haley answered as she folded up the hand towel after she wiped down the kitchen table.
" What did you tell him?" Chris asked with curiously.
" That the kids would love to go to the beach and that we'll meet them up at Karen's Cafe in the morning, so we all can go to the beach together." Haley smiles as she shrugs her shoulders a little.
Chris nodded slightly as he walked up to Haley. "Now, when you say 'we,' do you mean, like, you, me, and the kids? Or do you mean just you and the kids are going to the beach?" He asked, making sure he understood what Haley really meant by her use of the word 'we.'
Wrapping her arms around his neck, Haley looked up at him as she smiled softly. "I meant we, you, me, and the kids are going to the beach with them," she said as she kissed him softly and tenderly, smiling against his lips.
Chris smirked against her lips as he wrapped both arms around her waist, pulling her closer to him as he kissed her deeply and passionately, groaning softly against her lips. Moving his hands further down towards the back of her legs, Chris lifted her up and hooked her legs around him, carrying her to bed.
Nathan and Renee were both in bed as Renee ran her fingers up and down Nathan's chest. Renee took a deep breath as she finally decided to ask the question that has been on her mind all day." So, how long do you think Haley is actually going to stay around this time?"
Nathan shrugged his shoulders."I really don't know," he said. "But does it really matter though?" Nathan asked as he looked down at Renee. "Look, I get that you feel threatened now that Haley's back. But you don't have to, Haley coming back has nothing to do with us, okay?"
Renee nods her head a little." Yeah, okay." She says as she leans up and kisses him deeply, placing her hand against his face as she smiles against his lips." I love you."
Nathan smiled slightly as he returned the kiss."Yeah, you too." He said softly as he watched Renee lay her head against his chest. As Nathan gently ran his hand up and down her back, he watched her sleep. Nathan's mind started thinking about Haley and how her body used to feel next to him every night, even after they made love. How her soft skin felt against his hands and fingers. Or how soft her hair felt as he used to run his fingers through it.
Seeing Haley again after all this time has definitely stirred something inside of him. It's like all his feelings that he has ever felt for Haley have started to rush back to the surface, and Nathan doesn't know what to do about it or what it all means honestly. They've both moved on and there are other people involved now. But Nathan can't deny the fact that he will always love Haley, and that his heart will always belong to her.
