AVATAR: EMPIRE OF ICE
BOOK 1: FAMILY
CHAPTER 11: THE MISSION
We hear footsteps before we cut to the bottom half of someone running down a palace hallway.
We cut to Jang, in the palace, opening a door and walking inside. Then we see Kato, in full Empire regalia, run around the corner and see the door Jang just walked into. He opens it up just in time to see Jang descending down a trapdoor, closing it behind him.
Kato
Jang! Stop!
Kato runs over and opens the trapdoor, jumping down after him.
Then we cut to Kato in a simple shirt and pants, with a farmer's hat on, sitting at a table in a large cave. A large feathered hand slides a cup of tea over and Kato takes a sip from it. We cut to see that Wan Shi Tong is sitting across from him, studying the pendant that Kato gave him.
Kato
So? Were you able to break the code?
WST
Yes... It took me a while but I finally figured it out.
Kato
Wow... So, what does it say about my ancestry?
WST
It says, 'Here lies Kato the proud. He was violently dragged through the whitecaps, bumping his head on each corner until the tide took him out to sea.'
Kato
Oh, that's not me. That was the old Kato.
WST throws the half amulet on the table.
WST
Was it?
Kato picks the pendant up and sees that it's now just his own face in profile. He's facing someone who would be on the other side of the pendant. Kato looks confused, then he looks back up at WST.
WST
Kato, my boy. How many times do I have to tell you? It's all about the mission! (He winks)
Kato
You keep saying that but you never tell me what the mission is!
WST nods.
WST
Very well… I shall tell you.
WST leans in very slowly. Kato leans in as well.
WST
(In Yamani's voice) Wake up!
We cut to Kato waking up on a bench in the library. Yamani is shaking him.
Kato
(Disoriented) What?! What's going on?
Yamani
I solved it.
We cut to Inuk lying down on a couch in his home in the early morning. He hears the door unlock and then sees Lao walk in. Lao looks very tired.
Inuk sits up and looks at her. Lao gives him a thumbs up and walks off, and he nods apprehensively.
We see Lao going to her servant's quarters. She takes the master key out of pocket and puts it on a hook, before lighting a candle in front of airbending scripture. Lao then sits on the floor and meditates.
We cut to Ta, sitting on a ledge overlooking the canal. She's whispering to herself.
Ta
Mother. Father. Nuaka-Sia. Please forgive me.
Ta closes her eyes for a moment. We cut to a wider shot and see a group of guards approaching her. One of the guards grabs her and picks her up.
We cut to outside of Batua's bedroom. One guard unlocks the door while the other holds Ta. The door opens, then they toss Ta into the room with a thud. They close the door behind her, locking it.
Ta lies on the floor for a moment, then she runs her hand through her hair and stands up. Batua is sitting at his desk, trying to look intimidating.
Batua
You were out all night.
Ta
Yup…
Batua
Doing what?
Ta
I was with Lao.
Batua
All night?
Ta nods and sits down on the bed. Batua stands up.
Batua
Doing what?
Ta
Actually, we were talking about you. About what a great Emperor you're gonna be one day.
Batua smiles, then he narrows his eyes and frowns.
Batua
No you weren't.
Batua walks out from behind his desk, before he trips on the side of the fountain and falls over. Ta looks down at him, trying to stifle any sort of expression. Batua angrily stands back up.
Batua
You can't be socializing with a servant, Ta! We have an image to uphold, and it's not… Respectable!
Ta nods, still stifling.
Ta
Of course.
Batua
I don't want you spending any more time with that airbender. Got it?
Ta
Got it. (Lies down and yawns) Goodnight!
Batua shakes his head in disbelief and walks out of the room. Ta waits for the door to close before she opens her eyes. She smiles briefly before looking troubled.
We cut to a circle being drawn around a glyph of Kanakui's name.
Yamani
See?
Kato
No, I don't understand any of this.
Yamani
The cipher is a formula for deriving a sequence of numbers, and each number represents a letter to take from a name in the genealogy. And when you write all of these letters down and interpret them as syllables instead of logograms, you get this.
Yamani takes out another piece of paper, with a sentence on it, which translates to 'Histories, section 9, row 6, column 23'.
Kato looks at Yamani.
Kato
Secret scroll?
Yamani
Secret. Scroll.
Kato looks down in disbelief, shaking his head.
Kato
Yamani... I can't believe you did all this… (Looks up) Thank you.
Yamani
Yeah, well… (Scratches her unruly hair) Don't go around thinking I did it for you. I just really love puzzles...
Kato nods, smiling.
Kato
So, Histories. Where do you think that is?
Yamani
I bet a fox would know.
We cut to a young earthbending woman in bed, holding up a piece of parchment.
Woman
(Slowly, in a foreign accent) -Granted in part by the… Intasoo… Insatusa… Um…
She looks unsure, then she turns her head to the right. We pan over to see Kamui in bed next to her. He glances at the parchment.
Kamui
Institutional.
Woman
Oh…
Kamui
(Chuckles) Keep going, you'll get it.
The woman sighs and then looks at the parchment again.
Woman
In part by the… Institutional… Powers of the court. Such motions were-
The woman is cut off by a knock on the door. Kamui sighs.
Kamui
One moment...
Kamui gets out of bed, then he hears a familiar voice.
Umi
(From outside) I don't see why you won't let him carry you.
Hakoi
Because it's undignified!
Kamui blinks in surprise, then he looks over at the woman in bed.
Kamui
Up. (She nods and gets up as well) Follow me.
Kamui takes her to a door in the back of his chambers. He opens it up and we see that it leads to a room full of clothing.
Kamui
Why don't you take some time to admire my furs? Quietly.
The woman raises her eyebrow. Kamui pushes her in before closing the door behind her. Then he turns around.
Kamui
Come in!
The front door opens and Umi and Hakoi walk in. Hakoi is using a cane, while a guard spots him. Umi runs over to Kamui and hugs him.
Umi
Daddy!
Kamui hugs her back.
Kamui
Umi... (He looks confused) You're in the capital...
Hakoi limps over to the chair and takes a seat.
Hakoi
Yep, we're here. In one piece...
Umi
We missed you!
Kamui
I missed you too, Umi... (Pauses, then glances at Hakoi) Can you give me and your brother a moment alone?
Umi
But… I thought we were going to play Pai Sho...
Kamui
We will, sweetie, I promise. I just need to talk to Hakoi first, okay?
Umi
Okay…
Umi turns around and gives Hakoi the stink eye, then walks away. Hakoi rolls his eyes. Umi and the guard leave, shutting the door.
Kamui walks over to Hakoi, then he leans on the front of his desk, looking at Hakoi in confusion.
Hakoi
Hey, dad…
Kamui
I see you've cut your hair. Very… Airbender chic...
Hakoi runs his hand through his short hair.
Hakoi
Yeah…
Kamui
And then there's your leg. Is this why you're back? There are plenty of competent medics in Kiyuga…
Hakoi looks down, biting his lip, then he looks back up.
Hakoi
I went looking for Kato.
Kamui looks surprised, then kind of amused.
Kamui
What? How do you even know about that?
Hakoi
Captain Kayat showed me your memo.
Kamui
(Narrows his eyes) I see… Kayat is it? (Kamui grabs a piece of parchment, and bends some ink out of it) He is fired.
Hakoi
What? Are you serious? Why?
Kamui
Because you weren't supposed to be looking for the false prince, you were supposed to be in school. He's lucky I don't bring him up on formal charges.
Hakoi
(In disbelief) Who cares about school?! This is about the reputation of our Empire!
Kamui puts down the parchment and looks at Hakoi.
Kamui
Really? Well, then I'm sure you handled this very important mission with the utmost care. (Hakoi looks to the side) Well? I'd love to see the false prince. Bring him to me.
Hakoi scratches his head.
Kamui
You don't have him, do you?
Hakoi
...No. But I found him! (Kamui raises his eyebrow) I had this idea to um… Search Koakono beach, because waterbenders are afraid of the forest! And I was right! Turns out there's this whole airbending society living in the trees! Nobody even knows about it!
We cut to Kamui, who crosses his arms in amusement
Hakoi
And Kato was there! And… (Narrows his eyes) So was Jang… (Gets angry) I was so close, but that animal pounced on me and almost killed me! We have to go back for them! All we need is thirty good men and a ship! We'll storm in and wipe those savages off the map!
Kamui takes a long pause, and then sighs.
Kamui
Let me get this straight. You lost a fight to a couple of airbenders?
Hakoi
...What? No! It was Jang! He's crazy!
Kamui
(Smirks) He's a feeble old man!
Hakoi
(Red cheeks) No! No, you weren't there! He caught me off guard! (Flustered) He's not even an airbender, he's just a savage wildman living in the forest!
Kamui
(Rolls his eyes) Oh, Hakoi…
We cut to Hakoi, as he looks at Kamui with wide eyes. Kamui walks over to him and pats him on the shoulder.
Kamui
It hurts me to see you do this to yourself.
Hakoi
But… I found him… We just need to go back for him! Please!
Kamui
With that useless leg of yours? (Clicks his tongue) I've always told you, Hakoi. You're not cut out for this life. Stick to your strengths.
Kamui gives Hakoi's shoulder one last pat, then he turns to walk away. Hakoi then grabs Kamui's wrist, stopping him. He looks up at him with earnest eyes.
Hakoi
I want to bring glory to my Empire.
Kamui looks down at Hakoi in sympathy.
Kamui
Hey, (Shrugs) There's always politics.
Kamui turns and walks back to his he sits down, concerning himself with a piece of parchment on his desk.
We cut back to Hakoi, who looks utterly destroyed. We cut to his busted up leg. He looks down at it. A quiet storm of percussion builds up as his face clenches with anger.
Kamui
(Disinterested) Oh, and have the medics take a look at that leg. It'd be a shame if you lost it.
We cut to Umi standing in the plaza. She is surrounded by guards and personal servants. She snaps and one of them gives her a pipe. Her firebending guard lights it and she puffs on it, blowing smoke rings.
Umi
I am so glad to not be on a boat anymore. Though, this city isn't much better... (She blows more rings and surveys her surroundings. Then she stops) Whoa, who's that boy over there? He's so... Brooding.
We cut to Batua, solemnly eating berries at a table.
Guard
That's your cousin, ma'am. Crown Prince Batua.
Umi raises her eyebrows.
Umi
Oh, wow. I almost didn't recognize him.
We see Batua eat another berry, then he looks down and crosses his arms. Umi blushes.
We cut to a fox walking through the library. Kato and Yamani are following. The fox leads them up a spiral staircase to a room labeled "Histories". Yamani scratches the fox behind its ear, then the fox leaves them to it.
The two enter the room. There is a man standing at a desk.
Man
Can I help you?
Yamani takes out the small scroll and puts it on the desk.
Yamani
Section 9, please.
The man looks down at the scroll, then up at Yamani. Kato is standing in the background, waving. The man raises his eyebrow. Then Yamani does a quick double eyebrow raise in response.
We cut to the man unlocking section 9.
Man
(Looking at the scroll) You two know what you've got there?
Kato and Yamani glance at each other, then look back.
Yamani
Do you?
Man
No. And I don't want to.
The man opens the door to section 9 and lets them through.
Man
Be careful.
They both nod. We cut to Yamani's finger traveling down the slots.
Yamani
Row 6. (She moves her finger horizontally) Column 23. Here it is.
Kato inhales and exhales, readying himself. We see the scroll in that slot. It has an emblem of a white lotus on it. Yamani slowly slides the scroll of its slot, then she puts it on the blocks and unfurls it. We see Kato and Yamani from below as they look down at the scroll.
Kato
'Dear Okawa.'
We cut to an overhead shot of food on the table in the palace. We see hands are grabbing for various things. Then we cut to Batua with his arm around Ta, shoveling food into his mouth. We cut to Kamui, who's talking to Ato.
Kamui
Batua has learned his lesson, but remind your boy, Tahno, that if he raises his hands to the prince again, there will be a serious discussion about what happens to those hands.
Ato
Oh, he knows. I gave him a good flogging, don't you worry.
We see Umi sit at the table. She hugs Kamui. Batua looks at Umi with surprise.
Kamui
You remember my daughter Umi, don't you? It's been a few years.
Batua
(Food in his mouth) Oh yeah. (Swallows) Hey there, Umi.
Umi
(Flirtatiously) Hi, Batua.
Then Batua goes back to eating. Umi then looks over at Ta, who seems completely disconnected from the setting.
Umi
I'm going to get some smoked eel.
Umi stands up and Batua watches her as she leaves with leering eyes. He then looks kind of grossed out at himself. Kamui is watching Batua as the gears turn in his head.
Lao walks by, carrying a tray. Her and Ta share a knowing glance before Lao continues on. Batua doesn't seem to notice.
We cut to Kyana in her room. She's finishing writing a letter, which she rolls up and stamps. She gives it to her falcon, which takes it and flies off. Kyana nods, then sits there for a moment. Then, her eyes look at something.
We cut to a stone sculpture on her desk.
We cut to Kato and Yamani, looking down at the scroll. As Kato reads, we start to see watercolor illustrations of the events depicted. Maybe we fade to the writer's voice. But either way, dramatic music slowly starts to build up.
Kato
'If you ever receive this letter, which I suspect is not likely, then I hope it may offer you some closure. You wondered how it was possible that I could break your trust so thoroughly and bring violence to your sister, my beloved Nawa. The truth is that I never could. I did not kill your sister in the way they have said, though I did play a part in her death. Me and Nawa had a child together, and we named her Usawa. At three years of age, Usawa manifested as an earthbender. (Kato gasps) I was shocked. But I knew in my heart that Nawa was faithful to me. So I tried to hide this inexplicable ability away from the world. Unfortunately, the citadel caught tide and took our child from Nawa's hands. Usawa was thrown into the sea, and Nawa soon followed, on the grounds of miscegenation. I could not live with it, so I spoke out. I soon found myself exiled, on the run, and all the while, your sister's death pinned on my shoulders, the disgraced general. I traveled to the library of Wan Shi Tong to help me understand this cruel twist of fate. In this library, I found a scroll detailing the genealogy of the Kamakoi royal family, and in this scroll was an undeniable fact about my own past. The royal family was once a collection of earthbenders and waterbenders. In fact, this coalition seems to have built the four great northern cities, including the capital, together.'
Kato pauses and looks up, absorbing all of this with his head in his hands.
Kato
The earthbenders… And the waterbenders… Built it together…
He slides his hands down his face with astonishment, then he looks back down.
Kato
'It appears that the two groups intermarried for generations, before something happened… At a certain point, around seventy five years ago, various branches of this tree were cut short. Pruned, as if it were a bonsai. The earthbending names disappeared entirely from the family, to be replaced with a single line. The line of Emperor Lakui.'
The climactic music continues to build.
Kato
'If this information is correct… Then it means my little Usawa, your niece, was proof of something.'
We cut to Kyana in her room, staring at the stone sculpture on her desk. She slowly raises her hands and narrows her eyes.
Kato
'Something the Kamakoi would like us to forget.'
Kyana anxiously lifts her arms up in a bending motion. The music reaches its climax, but the sculpture doesn't budge. Then Kyana lets out a deep sigh of relief and lowers her arms.
Kato
'Signed, Tahnuk.'
We cut back to Kato and Yamani, as the music stops. We see the two of them from a low angle as their brains churn. Kato finally blinks and looks at Yamani.
Kato
So… It was just dumb luck. That's it.
Yamani nods and looks up at Kato.
Yamani
Yeah.
Kato exhales in thought.
Yamani
This guy. General Tahnuk. Do you know him?
Kato
I know of him.
Yamani
Is he still around?
Kato
(Shakes his head) No… He was a famous traitor. They used to read stories to us about his head getting chopped off. (Chuckles sadly) He died over two hundred years ago...
Yamani
I see...
Kato walks away from the scroll and stares out the window. Yamani looks up at him and then she releases the scroll and rolls it back up. She puts it back in its slot. Then she looks back at him.
Yamani
Well… (Shrugs) Now you know.
Kato turns around and looks at Yamani.
Kato
Yeah…
Yamani
I know this a lot to process. I'll give you some space.
Yamani begins to walk away.
Kato
Wait.
Yamani turns around and tilts her head at Kato, waiting for him to continue.
Yamani
Yes?
Kato sighs, then he stares out the window again.
Kato
Yamani, I need to tell you something.
We cut to a wall with a mosaic of the 4 element symbols made of shiny stone. We see Jang's distorted reflection in the mosaic. He hears a woman walking up to him, then he looks over and we see that she's carrying a scroll.
She hands the scroll over to Jang. He unfurls it and we see that it's a map of the southern half of the earth continent. There is a dot near the top of the desert, where the library is located. There are also various points scattered about.
Then we see an X on a peninsula near the bottom of the continent.
Ming
I marked a few places where the Empire's been known to set up shop, so you can steer clear. I also marked the boundaries of the Chiangsu mountain range. If you're traveling by carriage, you're gonna have to avoid that too.
Jang
(Perusing the map) This is excellent work.
Jang takes a piece of chalk and starts on the dot marking the library.
Jang
And I am traveling by carriage, so it looks like the shortest path would be something like...
The camera follows as Jang draws a path from the library along a series of trails and down to the X.
Jang
...This.
We cut to Ming, who nods. Jang rubs his beard, looking down.
Jang
I appreciate your help. Thank you, Ming.
Ming
Of course, Jang… Though I hoped you would know better than to wake a sleeping giant.
Jang rolls up the map and looks at her.
Jang
This was always happening, we just didn't know when. (Jang puts the map into his bag) Naptime is over.
Ming bows at Jang, and he bows back.
Ming
Good luck.
We cut to Kato and Yamani walking through the library.
Yamani
So, how do you think he'll take it?
Kato
I don't know...
A fox runs up to them with a scroll in its mouth. It drops it and runs away. Kato picks up the scroll and unfurls it.
Kato
'Meet me by the entrance. -Jang'
Kato and Yamani look at each other. Kato inhales and exhales again.
We cut to Jang, waiting by the entrance, looking down at the map. He looks up and sees Kato and Yamani walking towards him. Kato is fidgeting his fingers as he walks. Then we see Yamani has a strangely frustrated expression.
We cut to the gang walking out into the daylight. The sunlight hits their faces and they squint.
Kato
Jang. I need to talk to you about something.
Jang
I trust your time in the library was informative.
Kato
Well, yes actually. Apparently, I've had earthbending blood in me all along. And so does Batua, and pretty much my entire bloodline…
Jang
(Disinterested) I'm glad you were able to get some closure. Now, come along, we have a caravan arriving soon, so-
Kato
Wait, I didn't tell you why yet. Aren't you curious?
Jang stops and crosses his arms.
Jang
Okay. Why, Kato?
Kato
...Well, it turns out the story of the capital's founding is... Complicated. But before that I have to tell you about what we had to do to find the thing. You wouldn't believe it, Jang, there was this whole cipher that we had to break. Yamani is, like, a puzzle master, and… You're not listening to any of this.
Jang
No, that's really terrific, Kato. It's just that there are more important matters to discuss right now.
Kato
Okay...
Jang
First point. On our way down south, you're going to be Mushi again. There's a Kamakoi outpost on the way, and obviously-
Kato
Down south?
Jang
Yes, that's where- (He looks at Yamani) Sorry, can we have some privacy?
Kato looks at Yamani.
Kato
No, Yamani can stay.
Yamani
Um…
Kato
You're a part of our team now. You've proven herself.
Yamani weakly smiles at Kato and looks down.
Jang
Okay, fine. Not like it matters to her, anyway. We're traveling south. The 'you know who' is in an air temple down on the southern shore of the continent. So say goodbye to your friend and let's go.
Kato
You mean Miyuki?
Yamani's eyes widen ever so slightly.
Jang
Yes. (Glances at Yamani) Miyuki. We're going to link up with her, gather her army, and once we've given her all our intel on the capital, we're going to mount an attack. (Jang puts his hand on Kato's shoulder) I will advise her that at the end of this war, you should be restored to the throne.
Yamani turns and looks at Kato.
Kato
You want me to be the Emperor again?
Jang
It's your destiny, Kato. It always has been.
Jang waits for a response. The camera slowly zooms in on Kato until he raises his eyes to look at Jang.
Kato
You don't care about my ancestry…
Just then, a caravan pulls up in the background. Jang glances towards it and then looks back at Kato.
Jang
(Impatiently) Hmm?
Kato
That was just an excuse… You needed to come here so you could figure out where to find the Avatar.
Jang
Kato! (He looks at Yamani, who is looking down with her hair covering her face) Okay, fine! I wasn't entirely forthright about this trip. But so what? In the end, we both got what we wanted.
Kato
(Looking at Jang with a concerned expression) But you didn't even care. It was an afterthought to you... (Blinks) You think I'll just go along with whatever you say, don't you?
Jang
...Excuse me?
Kato
What if I don't want to be the Emperor? What if I don't want to fight in a war? Did you ever consider that?
Jang
This is bigger than you, Kato. Bigger than all of us. We don't have a choice.
Kato
Right, it's a big raging river and we're all stuck in it! We're all just bashing our head on the rocks until we get dragged out to sea!
Jang
What on earth are you talking about?
Kato
Do you know how guilty I feel for leading Hakoi to Yamani's home? Your old home? And now you want more people to risk their lives for me? No. I'm sorry Jang, but... I don't want to do this…
Jang pauses and looks up at the sky.
Jang
(Slowly, enunciating every syllable) You don't want to do this.
Kato
Look-
Jang
I'm going to assume this is another one of your little episodes. In which case, (Grabs Kato's arm) You can work it out on the trip.
Jang attempts to drag Kato to the caravan, but Kato breaks away.
Kato
Stop!
Jang looks over at the caravan driver. The driver is looking back, and he gestures 'Well, are you coming or what?' Jang holds his finger up to the driver and then grabs Kato and starts whispering.
Jang
Kato, please. I do not need your emotional problems derailing this entire mission.
Kato continues to look back resolutely. Jang widens his eyes.
Jang
You're serious. (Kato looks down with guilt) Do you know where you'd be right now if it wasn't for me?
Kato
I know, okay? I know this isn't what you want to hear, and I admit that without you I'd be dead, or worse!
Jang
No, Kato, you wouldn't be dead. No, no. Without me, you'd be a brainwashed little soldier, just like your brother. Except unlike him, you'd be an earthbender. Think about how that would have played out.
Kato steps back, shocked and hurt.
Jang
(Pauses) Look, I'm not trying to upset you, Kato, I'm trying to get you to understand the stakes here!
Kato
I get the stakes! I understand them completely! And I admit everything you want me to admit! But maybe... Maybe there are some things that you can admit, too.
Jang
(Crosses his arms) Such as?
Kato
Like... Maybe you didn't do all of this out of the goodness of your heart, but because I was useful to you. (Jang looks to the side) You… You use people, Jang.
Jang
...Kato, what we do in life-
Kato
Stop. You don't have to explain yourself to me. I get it, and I'm not upset. But it doesn't change how I feel.
Jang turns around and paces, then he turns back.
Jang
This is unbelievable… I thought you of all people would understand the gravity of this situation! After what your brother did to you? What your nation did? Your people? Are you seriously telling me that you don't want revenge?
Kato
Of course I want revenge! I have fantasized about killing my brother so many times. For a while, that's all I could even think about! (Pauses, then sighs) But I don't want to go down that road...
Jang rolls his eyes.
Kato
I want to save Princess Ta.
Jang
...What do you think we're doing, you nut brain? We are saving Ta! And everyone else under the thumb of the Empire!
Kato looks down. Jang looks at Yamani.
Jang
Come on. Tell him he's being crazy.
Yamani
(Shrugs) I think it's kind of romantic...
Jang
(Ruefully chuckles) You knew about this. I thought you were smart, but you're just as foolish as he is! (Jang rubs his temples in frustration) Tell me, Kato, what exactly is your plan for getting into the capital?
Kato
There's an unfinished section of the palace. I'll sneak in through there during the Dance of the Flying Peacock.
Jang
That's suicidal!
Kato
It is without your help.
Jang laughs.
Jang
Oh, you want my help? That's… That's really something, Kato. All I've ever done is help you. But you're helpless. After all this time… You're nothing but a spoiled prince.
Kato
Jang...
Jang
You want my answer? Well, the answer is no. I'm not going to risk my life going on some fool's errand. You're on your own.
Beat.
Kato
Then I guess this is goodbye.
Jang
I guess it is.
Kato holds out his hand. Jang hesitates, but then shakes it.
Kato
I hope one day you can understand why I did this.
Jang sighs, shaking his head. The two share one final look.
Jang
Goodbye, Prince Kato.
Jang turns around and walks over to the caravan. He gets inside and they depart. Kato watches them go.
Then Kato turns to Yamani.
Yamani has a tear rolling down her cheek and an unreadable expression as she watches Jang's caravan disappear. Kato looks confused.
Kato
Hey… What's wrong?
Yamani wipes her cheek and smiles, but the smile wanes. She looks in Jang's direction.
Yamani
I'm pretty sure that guy is my dad...
Kato nods and then does a double take.
Kato
Wait, what?! Why didn't you say anything? Why didn't you... Go with him? You still can!
Yamani looks at Kato and then narrows her eyes.
Yamani
Fuck the Avatar.
TO BE CONTINUED...
