"Making Beautiful Music Together"
Patrick comes over in the midst of Pepper's songwriting hoping to be a source of inspiration for her.Part 4 of 6 for my OC block. Enjoy!
Pepper was at home tinkering on her guitar when she heard a knock at her door. She got up to check who it was seeing Patrick on the other side, and she let him in. The two sat in the living room, and Pepper picked up her guitar once more, absentmindedly playing a few notes.
"So, whatcha' working on?" Patrick asked.
"Just trying to find some inspiration. It's been awhile since I wrote a new song." Pepper told him.
"Any luck so far?"
"Well, I have the start of a melody, but I don't have any lyrics. I'm not entirely sure what I want my song to be about." Pepper explained.
Patrick thought about it for a minute while listening to Pepper strum a few notes. Suddenly a crazy idea popped into his head.
"Okay, so this might sound dumb, but hear me out. What if you wrote a song, giving someone bad news?"
"What? How would that work?" Pepper asked.
"Well, if you wanted to break off a date with someone, what better way than to tell them through song?" Patrick suggested.
"Somehow, I think that would end badly." Pepper said.
"Maybe, or it could be just what they need to hear. Here, what about something like this..." Patrick said, before jotting down some words.
Pepper takes the notebook from her boyfriend reading what he has come up with for her melody.
"Hmm…yeah, maybe. I guess this could work for a bad news song." Pepper said.
"Definitely, and I know it would sound good coming from you."
"Thanks." Pepper smiled, as she started to sing first.
"I'm glad we met, but how do I say this? You're not the one I imagined for my first kiss…"
The song continues with Patrick singing.
"I hope this doesn't make you cry, but going out with you is not what I had in mind…"
They both finish the last of the song.
"Most importantly, I hope we can be friends, but my heart isn't with yours in the end."
Once her song was finished, Patrick stood from the couch, clapping for his girlfriend. This made Pepper laugh as she stood to give him a hug.
"Well, I'm glad you liked it. I doubt however it will be as well received by whoever this song is for." Pepper said.
"I mean…I didn't have anyone in mind, but I think this would be a great way to let someone down easy."
Pepper takes his hands while she continues speaking.
"I just hope it's never me who needs a bad news song." Pepper told him.
"You? Of course not. You're the best, Pepper. I feel so lucky to have met you."
"Thanks. I, uhm…I feel really lucky to have met you, too." Pepper said, meeting him in the middle for a kiss.
The young couple embraced, kissing for a little while longer, until they were distracted by Pepper's guitar sliding off the couch to the floor, and the loud clang startled them. Pepper rushed over to pick it back up while still awkwardly smiling.
"Everything okay?"
"Yeah, It's fine. Nothing happened to it." Pepper said, setting her guitar on its stand.
"What do you say we order some food?" Pepper proposed.
"Sounds great. I am getting hungry."
The two of them order food, and sit on the couch to watch a movie while waiting for their food to arrive. Patrick had a good time writing songs with Pepper, and made a mental note to do more songwriting with her in the future. In the time these two have been together, they really mesh well together, and have found they have a lot in common. Highschool has been a big change for both of them, but at least through it all, they have each other.
