The Eldest Son's Bride

-Sasuke-

It is an honor to be his bride, so why is everyone so upset about it? Why is okaasan begging Itachi to choose another? Why does otousan look furious? Even our cousins seem uneasy. "But I want to." Seeing those red eyes lock onto me fills me with joy. I go over to thirteen-year-old Itachi and hug him, nuzzling into his waist with my short height. "I want to be aniki's bride." I feel a pat to my head and giggle.

"Good, otouto."

I love those words.

Our family is…strange. Apparently, our ancestors made a deal with the devil and now we're cursed or something. I don't get what's so bad about it to be honest. We're all really pretty, successful, smart, and have really cool eyes. They can change color sometimes. And the best part? The eldest son gets to choose whoever he wants as his bride and no one can stop him. And Itachi chose me!

I'm only five right now so I guess there is more to this than I know, but seriously. Why are people upset about it? So, later in the evening before heading to bed, I go to otousan's office. "Otousan?"

He looks up from his work. Whatever it is. "Hai?" Otousan is handsome but not as much as niisan. Itachi is perfect.

I frown and tilt my head. "Why are you all upset that aniki wants to marry me?"

Otousan sighs and looks angry for a second before just blank again. "It doesn't matter. He's decided." He looks back to his work in an obvious dismissal. Itachi doesn't do that.

I'm a bit confused at the brief angry look but decide to just take the answer. "Good night." I head to my room but change directions. With barely a thought I decide to go to Itachi's. "Niisan?" I open the door and see Itachi sitting on the bed brushing his hair. He wears some sleep pants and a loose shirt. He still looks beautiful and perfect even in normal clothes.

Itachi looks over and gives a small smile before setting his brush to the side. "Do you want to sleep in here, otouto?" He always stops what he's doing for me and won't turn away. I love that.

I smile and come in, quickly climbing onto the bed. "I'm really happy you chose me aniki." Even though I don't understand why everyone else is upset. "I'll have to figure it out tomorrow."

Itachi chuckles and gently kisses my head. "As you should be." I watch as he gets up and turns off the light before coming back and getting us situated in bed. "Sleep now, otouto."

My eyes slowly close and I turn to nuzzle into Itachi's chest. I take a deep breath and almost immediately drift off.

The next day I blink as I read the passage from one of our family's history books in the library.

"And so, the deal was made. In return for eternal beauty, power, and wealth, the eldest son shall be the vessel for the new generation of demons. His life-mate is his choice alone and cannot be changed. The life-mate will completely belong to both the first-born son and the demon inside him. No one may interfere no matter the circumstance. Even the life-mate themselves cannot refuse."

"Oh…well I guess I can see how that's upsetting for some." Then I make a face. "I think." That last sentence sounds weird. Why would I want to refuse him? Itachi is amazing. I shrug and close the book. With a grunt I pick it up and walk over to the shelf, putting it in its place. I turn only to squeak in surprise at seeing Itachi standing in the doorway. "Niisan! You scared me." But I smile and go over to hug him. I always love when he spends time with just me.

Itachi places a kiss on my head. "What have you learned otouto?" The soothing voice wraps around me like a hug. I wonder if it's the demon?

I look up. "I wanted to know why everyone is so upset you chose me. No one will tell me though, so I decided to look for myself." I see the raised brow and continue. "I actually think it's cool you have a demon. It makes you even more powerful!" My eyes widen with wonder. "I didn't even know that was possible." I've always known Itachi is the best ever. But now I have proof!

Itachi's lips twitch from a small smile to a smirk. "Thank you otouto. I hope to one day soon introduce you two." I like the smirk just as much as his smile. Because it's aimed at me.

I gasp. "Really?" I figure that Itachi doesn't have full control over the creature yet, which is why he says one day. I see the nod and feel a shot of glee. "Cause I'm your bride!" I pause and give a sad frown. "But why didn't you tell me niisan?" A stab of pain goes through me. Why did he hide it if we are going to be married?

Itachi hums and runs fingers through my raven blue locks. "You didn't need to know right away. Besides, I know that you are smart enough to learn on your own. I trusted you to figure it out and you did wonderful, otouto." He kisses my head again and I feel my cheeks grow hot with a blush. "You found the correct book and are smart enough to understand it even with your age against you."

I giggle when Itachi pulls away a little. "So, can you talk to him? Your demon?" This is all so fascinating and wonderous. Like magic or something!

Itachi shrugs. "In a sense. I feel what he feels. It's a way of communicating."

My eyes are fully on Itachi's. "Can he hear me?" When I get a nod, I wave. "Hi Itachi's demon!"

Itachi laughs at that and pats my head. "He's pleased."

"So what else can I know about it?" I blush. "Um, him." I hope niisan isn't upset with that slip up.

As usual, he isn't. He merely gains a thoughtful look. "When you and I marry, he and I will become one true being." It sounds so mysterious and yet very important.

My eyes widen and a gasp leaves me. "So you need me?" Even I can tell that my voice is extremely hopeful. Just the thought of aniki needing me makes me feel butterflies in my tummy and my chest feels warm. I like this feeling.

Itachi leans down and kisses my head. "Hai otouto. He and I need you very much."

When he pulls back, I give him a huge grin and then hug him tight. "I love you aniki. You're amazing."

-Itachi-

My otouto worships me and always has. It's amazing to see and powerful to feel. My demon enjoys it too. This is why I know Sasuke is meant to be mine. Every time Sasuke gives me wide wonder filled eyes that are meant only for me, I feel a jolt of desire. The desire to control. He is mine.

A feeling of annoyance comes from the corner of my mind where the demon resides. A quick translation flows through, as it does when using multiple languages. "He is ours." I didn't lie to Sasuke about talking to the demon. I just didn't fully explain it. The boy doesn't need to know right now.

"Of course, that's what I meant. You and I are one being." Tied to each other through a curse. A curse that I greatly enjoy. Though I do wonder who the last powerful vessel was as it definitely isn't otousan. Fugaku's demon is of no threat to me even though I'm only thirteen. And the accursed thing knows it too.

I get a jolt of amusement from that thought. "The last powerful vessel was your ancestor Madara. He also chose the younger brother."

"Perhaps that is a common factor?" Maybe I can finally get a few more answers. The demon seems to take great joy in only giving out hints and small details. Makes sense, I guess. But is power linked to controlling one's own blood?

A pause of no sensation lasts long enough that I assume he won't answer. Finally, a neutral feeling answers it. "Perhaps."

I go into my room and glance to the calendar. I frown in annoyance. Sasuke will start school tomorrow. It's mainly for socializing purposes. The boy is already reading at a high level with some basic math skills. He'll sore through school, no doubt about that. And yet…he'll be gone for a good portion of the day…

A jolt of lazy interest goes through me. "You can demand Sasuke to continue to be homeschooled with you. They must listen to you because it has to deal with our mate." Which is completely true.

I pause in my pacing and consider it. Unfortunately, Sasuke has been hinting that he is interested in it and I have never been good at denying my otouto anything that makes him happy. It means I'll have to give him up for a few hours each day but I can merely use that time to train in ways he can't see quite yet. And I will always have the weekends with him.

A wave of mild annoyance. "It will be more efficient to keep him here."

I frown and my eyes flash with the Sharingan, power surging through me. "My decision is to let Sasuke decide. Final." My demon may be strong but he is still caged and I have begun to show immense strength over the spell. Only when I take Sasuke will the cage safely melt and we will merge into one being, but it can be weakened if I'm not careful. To keep complete control takes power. Power that I have plenty of and my demon knows it. I can feel it in the lack of response. He has accepted it.

Okaasan's voice calls out, "Lunch is ready. Come down."

I leave the room and go to the dining table, my eyes locking onto Sasuke who is already sitting down. The boy turns and smiles at me as soon as I enter. An approving growl flows through my mind. I return it with my own small smile and sit next to him. Lunch is quiet, I can tell our parents are still frustrated by my choice. They need to accept it and just move on. Especially Fugaku. He has his own demon and knows the laws.

As usual, Sasuke manages to surprise us about fifteen minutes in. "I found out about aniki's demon." The silence turns tense. "You shouldn't be so mean to him about it. I like that he's even more powerful." His small voice is laced with annoyance. Seems he doesn't like that they don't approve of it.

I feel a spike of need from my little otouto trying to protect me. I look to Fugaku who is glaring at the rest of his food. My eyes move to Mikoto who is looking sadly at Sasuke. It looks like she wants to try to convince him otherwise but after a quick glance she immediately looks down. I stand, victory in my smirk. "Come on Sasuke. It looks like you're done eating."

Sasuke nods and gets up. "Hai." Immediate obedience.

Another spike of need shoots through me. I take his hand and we get our shoes on to go outside, grabbing his ball on our way. Quietly we set up and begin kicking it back and forth. "Are you sure you want to go to school otouto?" I feel like if I don't make sure one last time then the damn demon will bug me all day.

Sasuke pauses in his kicking. "Hai. I'm curious about other kids." He glances up to me. "…Is this okay?" The fact he is asking permission solidifies my decision.

So I sigh, knowing I can't deny this request. Not when my otouto looks so excited. "I will go with you when you're dropped off then." That night, Sasuke joins me in my bed. Like always.

-Sasuke-

The next morning I wake up in Itachi's bed. He's already woken up and is reading next to me. He never leaves me alone in the bed. I yawn and give a smile that is meant only for him. "Good morning aniki." I giggle when Itachi puts his book aside and kisses my head. He's giving me all his attention. I love that.

"Good morning otouto. Did you sleep well?"

"Hai." I get one more cuddle before getting out of the bed. I have to get dressed for the new school day after all. I quickly pad to my room and look at the uniform already waiting on my bed. I guess Okaasan realized I was sleeping in Itachi's room. I first take care of my bathroom needs before getting dressed. Luckily, I'm used to wearing nice clothes when family comes over, so I can do this uniform no problem.

"You look nice, otouto."

I spin around and grin at seeing Itachi standing in the doorway. "Arigato aniki." I can feel a small blush. I love how those eyes move over me. Approval clear in them. I chew my lip a bit as some worry creeps into my mind. "…I don't look weird in it?" I look at mirror again. I may be used to wearing nice clothes but this is something completely different.

Itachi walks over and kneels down, lifting my chin. "You are always lovely to me. My precious otouto." His thumb gently pulls my bottom lip from between my teeth.

I grin as those red eyes stay on my lips. "And bride!"

Itachi chuckles. "Hai." He seems to be getting closer to me. "Sasuke." A shiver flows through me at my name being said like that. It's a nice shiver. "Don't bite your lips. They are too precious."

I'm pretty sure my entire face is red with the blush. "H-Hai aniki."

"Say my name."

I swallow. "Hai, Itachi-niisan." I love seeing those lips in a satisfied smile. "I love you!" And then I lean forward and place a small kiss on that smile.

Niisan lets out a strange rumble, but in a really cool way. "Good otouto."

Breakfast is quiet but I don't think about it, my mind filled with what might happen at school. Before I know it, it's time to leave. I pause as I put on my shoes. I can hear my parents talking. "I don't think Itachi should come. He may change his mind." That's otousan.

Before I can call out, I hear okaasan say, "It's up to Itachi." I'm not sure why okaasan sounds sad about that. They both come out and look at me expectantly. "Do you want Itachi to come with you?"

I open my mouth to reply when niisan comes in. I grin and run over to hug him, nuzzling his stomach. "I want aniki to come." I want to have him see me be big and brave and go to school. And I'm hoping to get one last hug for courage. Aniki always makes me feel calm.

Itachi pats my head and says my favorite words, "Good otouto." When we arrive at the school he gets out and gives me a huge hug. "Just think of me if you get scared."

I blush softly and nuzzle into him. "Hai. Bye Itachi-niisan." I turn and go into the building, quietly exchanging my shoes before I make my way to the correct class. I don't have too much trouble finding it and can't wait to tell Itachi that. I pause in the doorway, the classroom already holding a bunch of kids.

I feel nerves take over, but before I'm even able to step inside I'm knocked against. I and another boy fall over in a small pile of limbs. Immediately the other boy gets up and helps me rise to my feet. "Arigato! I tripped and really didn't mean to make you fall." He bows in apology.

I'm a bit in shock by how different the blond boy looks. It's like he has the sun for hair and when he looks up, I can see that he has eyes like the gems okaasan sometimes wears on dates with otousan. "You're pretty."

He blushes and then his eyes widen. "So are you!"

I grin. "My whole family is pretty." My voice shows how proud I am.

The boy returns the grin. "That's so cool. Wanna sit next to me? I'm Uzumaki Naruto."

"Uchiha Sasuke." We both go find a seat and get ready.

Naruto looks over to me. "So all of your family is as pretty as you?"

I nod. "Yup. And it's because…." I pause as I remember Itachi's warning about not telling anyone.

Itachi gently kicks the ball to me. "Sasuke?" He waits for my full attention. "You cannot tell anyone about the curse. Understand?"

I stop the ball and smile. "Hai. It's out secret." I giggle and kick it back. "Can I tell people I'm your bride?" I hope I can because it's awesome.

Itachi stops the ball and thinks about it. "Not yet. I will be the one to do that."

I sigh but nod. "Hai niisan. I won't tell anyone."

My favorite words are spoken in that smooth calming voice. "Good, Otouto."

I clear my throat and set up my notebook and pencil case. "It's a secret."

Naruto pouts slightly. Not really a good look in my opinion. Itachi doesn't pout. "I can keep a secret."

I frown. "So can I. So I won't tell you."

Naruto looks sad for a second before smiling. "Good point. Arigato. I shouldn't have pushed. I hope you're not angry with me."

I shake my head and give a small smile. "It's okay. Niisan says being curious is a good thing."

Naruto giggles. "Your niisan sounds smart."

I sigh with an even happier smile. "Aniki is the smartest ever. And he's the prettiest of the family and really strong too."

Naruto's eyes widen again. "Whoa. That's really cool! If we become friends, maybe I can meet him." I like that he's so interested with my family. We are pretty amazing after all. Who else has deals with demons?

I shrug as Sensei comes in. "Maybe." Our conversation ends as class starts.

-Itachi-

When we arrive back home from dropping my precious otouto off, I immediately walk out of the compound. I want to update my only friend on the progress with Sasuke. I find myself at another wealthy family's home and knock.

An elderly lady named Chiyo answers the door. She frowns but steps aside. "Brat's in his room." She then goes further into the house. "Close the door behind you."

I simply nod and do so, changing my shoes for slippers.

Sasori's family made a very similar deal with the devil in the past. Neither of his parents were hosts, but he's the eldest son and therefore a host. With our family, only the eldest son can pass along the next generation of demons. With Sasori's, it's every first son. Though, he's also the only son. He is being raised by his grandmother Chiyo after his parents were killed by fanatics. He is determined to get stronger in order to hunt down the group and exterminate them all.

I go up to Sasori's room and knock once before going in. I enjoy annoying the redhead like this. "Sasori." Besides, he should already know it's me.

I blink as a I see a long-haired blond straddling Sasori's lap, arms around his neck. Grey eyes look over. "Itachi-san!" The boy yelps as he's pushed onto the floor. "Itai." He continues to grumble softly as he sits cross-legged.

Sasori merely smirks. This is Deidara Iwa and he is Sasori's bride. He's always been into the occult and so has always been totally obsessed with Sasori and his demon. He also finds Itachi fascinating as well. Sasori relaxes back on his hands a bit. "What do you want Uchiha?"

I lean against the closed door. "Sasuke kissed me. A small peck. Completely adorable."

Deidara claps his hands excitedly. "Oh yay! Your precious brother is perfect for you, yeah. Just like Sasori-danna and me." He looks to Sasori.

Sasori rolls his eyes. "You are the only one who won't break. That's why." He glares at me when I don't appear convinced. "Tsk." He flips me off and changes the subject. "And Fugaku's reaction to all this?"

I smirk. "He despises it." My demon lets out a low chuckle that can almost be felt. The burst from Sasori means his demon is probably also amused. Deidara can't really sense anything but he has learned to interpret Sasori's demon. So he smiles, definitely loving it all

-5 months before Sasuke's birth-

I decide to leave the compound despite others not wanting me to. It's just so boring here. When I get into town, I notice people seem to be wary of me. Rumors of our family plus my natural aura tends to do that. I pause in my wandering when I feel a spike of power. Without further thought I seek it out. The source turns out to be a redhead standing beside an elderly woman who is arguing with a shop keep. We look at each other and I immediately know. He's a host.

The boy walks away from the lady and over to me. "You're like me. How strong is yours?"

I smirk. "Seconds strongest of our full family."

The woman quickly storms over. "Sasori! I tell you to stay by me and you wander off anyway!"

Sasori rolls his eyes. "I found another host. Old crow." His voice gives off an aura of boredom.

Her eyes narrow on him. "Don't test me brat." She looks to me. "Uchiha. Correct?"

I nod. "Itachi." I really do find this amusing. No one in my family will stand up to me. Yet this woman has no fear at all. Fascinating.

"Well I am Chiyo and this is my grandson, Sasori. Now come on." She grabs Sasori's hand and pulls him along. Sasori frowns but follows anyway. I find this part of the interaction even more interesting. Sasori must have some type of feeling for the woman if he tolerates all this yet is a host.

We continue to see each other, always with Chiyo watching over. Three months later Sasori introduces someone.

"Uchiha. This is Deidara Iwa. He's mine." Sasori's voice is usually somewhat flat. But right now it's full of iron and want. Interesting.

The blond rolls his eyes but smiles at me. "You have a demon too, right?" I reply with a nod. "Awesome. I'm all about the supernatural and occult stuff, yeah. Pretty cool there are two cursed families in Konoha."

I look back to Sasori. "So is he your bride?" Considering the 'mine' comment that would make sense.

Sasori frowns slightly. "I haven't made a declaration yet."

I look to Deidara again with curiosity. "Do you want to be his bride?"

Deidara grins wide. "Hell yeah!" He winks. "Pun intended." He then yelps at a smack from Sasori. "Itai! Meanie." Sasori just smirks at that.

When a month later Sasori declares that Deidara will become his bride, I'm not surprised. Though apparently others are. Possibly because the two are still young. Sasori merely brushes off all comments by saying that his demon knows and he just follows along. An interesting way to put it. Around the time of this announcement, I gain a baby brother. A precious baby brother that causes my demon to become interested for the first time.
