Before the story starts, I wanna give a BIG shout out to every single Vtuber who was down for taking part in this story! It is a big honor for me for being able to use you in my story, and I hope it will live up to your expectations!
"LADIES AND GENTLEMAN, THE TIME HAS COME!" the loud voice of the commentator roared through the entire stadium, followed up by even louder waves of applause from the entire audience. All of them were waiting impatiently for the biggest event of the past few years to begin: the Great Vtuber Dueling Championship of Sideline City. Created and arranged by the VDueling Corporation, a lot of virtual content creators, known as Vtubers, were about to clash each other in this stadium which was almost like holy ground for duelists from all around the world in order to find out who was the Number one – the king or queen of games, so to say.
"And now we're getting started with our first duel! I'm sure you can't wait to find out who the first two Vtubers will be! Well, the same goes for me! So, let's get things started and see what decision the wheel of destiny is going to make! Who are the first two duelists that will meet each other at the battlefield?"
Now all of the attention headed towards the giant screens mounted on the stadium walls where a lot of artworks from the participating Vtubers appeared. Then they were shuffled randomly for about ten seconds before two of them were shown in oversize.
"The decision has been made! Our first two opponents will be Nintendrik and C0okieDance, known as Kiriana!"
Another wave of applause echoed through the entire area while the two artworks were placed on the left and right side of the screen to make space for a wheel graphic in the middle.
"And now we're gonna find out what kind of duel our first two participants will have: a regular, a turbo or an action duel! Spin out, wheel!"
As the commentator said that, the wheel started to light itself up in different colors. When it stopped, the text "ACTION DUEL" appeared on the screen.
"An action duel it is!", the commentator shouted. "Now that all the preparations have been made, let's give our first two duelists a warm welcome! First is the tall fox boy with his beloved deck: Nintendrik!"
A giant wave of applause echoed through the arena as a quite tall humanoid fox walked on the stage. His black and red hair slightly covered the red eyes, looking through dark glasses; his clothes consisted of an e-sports team shirt, comfortable jeans and a long hooded cape. His long fox tail was swinging slightly from side to side.
As Nintendrik took his place on the stage, he waved towards the audience and gave them a friendly smile.
"And now for his opponent! The fox girl known for her cuteness and her desire to bully others for no reason: Kiriana!"
Another wave of applause was given to Nintendrik's opponent, a humanoid fox girl with dark blue hair who was wearing a red and black dress with striped thigh-high socks. Her face showed a sign of disappointment when she stood at the other side of the battle field.
"Man, who in the world made this entrance text?" Kiriana asked and crossed her arms.
Nintendrik only gave her a short grin.
"It was you, right?" Kiriana asked and growled a bit.
"Maybe," Nintendrik answered her and grinned more.
"Hrmpf," Kiriana snorted and looked at her friend angrily.
"Hey, you can give me payback during the duel," Nintendrik said and activated his duel disk.
After another snorting, Kiriana did the same.
"The judge is ready, the duelists are too, the life points are set at 8000, so there's no reason left to wait any longer!" the commentator roared. "Let's activate the action field spell Crossover!"
The duel disks of both players now showed the action field spell cards as several glowing platforms appeared all over the field, and the special action cards were scattered.
"Hey, we might be friends, but I'll still give it my all in this duel!" Nintendrik said while drawing his start hand.
Kiriana just nodded and drew too.
"The duelists meet at the battlefield!" Nintendrik then announced.
"Along with their monsters, they'll kick the ground..." Kiriana continued.
"… and fly through the sky..."
"to move around the field!"
"Witness dueling's greatest evolution! Action..."
"DUEL!"
"I'll go first," Nintendrik said and looked at his hand. "First of all, I activate the quick-play spell Wings of Light! This lets me add Supreme King Gate Infinity from my deck to my hand! And then I set the pendulum scale with scale 1 Purple Poison Magician and my scale 13 Supreme King Gate Infinity!"
The two pendulum monsters appeared in his spell and trap zones.
"Now swing, Pendulum of destiny! Surpass the limits of space and time and become the light that guides us into the future! I pendulum summon the tuner monster Harmonizing Magician (ATK 0) and my beloved friend with different-colored eyes, Odd-Eyes Pendulum Dragon (ATK 2500)!"
A huge applause echoed through the audience as they saw one of Nintendrik's ace monsters.
"When Harmonizing Magician is special summoned, I can summon a pendulum spellcaster monster from my deck! So come out, Black Fang Magician (ATK 1700)! And then my Level 4 Harmonizing magician tunes Level 4 Black Fang Magician!"
His tuner monster turned into four green rings, and as black fang flew through them, it became four stars that enveloped a bright beam of light.
"Beloved comrade of mine, use your keen wings to strike the enemy at the speed of light! Synchro Summon! Appear, Supreme King Dragon Clear Wing (ATK 2500)!"
"Woah! Two awesome boss monsters right off the bat!" the commentator said about Nintendrik's first turn.
"And now you're standing in the light, Kira. Show me what you're made of," Nintendrik declared the end of his turn.
"Alright, then. I draw," Kiriana said and looked at her hand.
"Now, by discarding Lunalight Black Sheep from my hand, I can add the spell card Polymerization from my deck to my hand. And then I activate it! The summon conditions are two Lunalight monsters! I fuse Lunalight Scarlet Fox and Lunalight Wolf together! Fusion Summon! Come forth, beautiful beast who dances gracefully in the moon light: Lunalight Cat Dancer (ATK 2400)!"
"Woah! Kiriana instantly summoned one of her strong fusion monsters!" the commentator said.
"And I am not done yet," Kiriana said and gave a short laugh. "I now use my spell Lunalight Fusion to fuse together my Cat Dancer and Lunalight Tiger from my hand! They now let my beautiful friend who dances on the moon itself take the place! Fusion summon! Appear, Lunalight Panther Dancer (ATK 2800)! And with its effect, by making your monsters indestructible for the first time this turn, Panther Dancer can attack all your monsters twice this turn!"
"This isn't good," Nintendrik thought. "But I guess she knows about Clear Wing's effect that destroys the monster it battles, dealing this monster's attack points as damage to her. Let's see what she will do."
"Battle! Lunalight Panther Dancer attacks Odd-Eyes Pendulum Dragon two times! Moon Claws!"
Nintendrik's dragon was scratched twice by the sharp claws, then was destroyed, and Nintendrik lost 600 life points.
"I set one card face-down and end my turn," Kiriana said.
"Nintendrik quickly lost one of his monsters, and Kiriana still has a powerful attacker on her field! How is Nintendrik going to react to this?" the commentator asked.
"Let's find out. I draw," Nintendrik said and looked at his new card. "I play Pendulum Fusion! This card lets me use monsters in my pendulum zone to perform a fusion summon! I fuse together Supreme King Gate Infinity and Purple Poison Magician! Mixing these two monsters is dangerous! Conquer your enemies with poison! Fusion Summon! Come forth, Starving Venom Fusion Dragon (ATK 2800)!"
Nintendrik's new dragon roared over the stadium and looked at Kiriana.
"Starving Venom's effect activates! It gains the attack points of Panther Dancer on your field! Then I set White Wing Magician in my pendulum zone and attack Panther Dancer with Clear Wing! Go,
Hell Dive Storm!"
"But why are you attacking when your monster is weaker than mine?" Kiriana asked.
"Because of Clear Wing's effect! When he battles, the opposing monster is destroyed before the damage calculation, and you take damage equal to your monster's attack points!"
In the middle of its attack, Clear Wing stopped and shot a shining wave of energy towards Panther Dancer.
Kiriana looked shocked for a moment, but then she smiled. "Well done, but unfortunately, Panther Dancer cannot be destroyed by any of your card effects!"
"What?"
The effect of Clear Wing was useless, and due to its destruction in battle, Nintendrik lost another 300 life points.
"In that case, Starving Venom Fusion Dragon attacks Panther Dancer! Toxic Infusion!"
This time, it was Kiriana's monster which was destroyed, and she took 2800 damage.
"You triggered my trap card: Lunalight Reincarnation Dance! When a Lunalight monster on my field is destroyed, I can add two Lunalight monsters from my deck to my hand! And I choose to add Lunalight Purple Butterfly and Emerald Bird!"
Nintendrik took a deep, long breath, then he said: "I end my turn. During this turn's End Phase, Starving Venom's attack points return to normal."
Kiriana drew her next card and gasped.
"Alright then, time for another Lunalight Fusion! Since you've got a monster special summoned from your extra deck on your field, I'm allowed to use a monster from my deck or extra deck as the material! I fuse Lunalight Purple Butterfly and Emerald Bird with Lunalight Panther Dancer in my extra deck! Behold when the beautiful beast who dances throughout the entire universe surpasses everything and everyone! Fusion Summon! Come forth, Lunalight Lion Dancer (ATK 3500)! And now attack Starving Venom Fusion Dragon! Dance of Death!"
Since Nintendrik's dragon was now weaker than Lion Dancer, Nintendrik lost another monster and 700 life points.
"Ah, and just so you know: due to its effect, Lion Dancer is able to attack twice! Now take a direct attack!"
"Argh!" After this second attack, Nintendrik was down to 3200 life points.
"My turn is over. Now you should really come up with something cool if you still intend to win."
"I know that, Kira," Nintendrik said while he stood up again, drawing his next card.
"I play the spell card Pot of Riches: I shuffle the three face-up pendulum monsters from my extra deck, which are Odd-Eyes Pendulum Dragon, Supreme King Gate Infinity and Purple Poison magician back into my deck, then I draw two cards. I set Harmonizing magician in the pendulum zone. And now swing again, pendulum of destiny! Surpass time and space and open the way to our future! Come forth, Supreme King Gate Magician (ATK 2500)!"
Nintendrik's new magician enveloped the entire area with its golden shine.
"When Gate Magician is special summoned, I can add one card that mentions Supreme King Z-ARC from my deck to my hand. I add and set the trap card Soul of the Supreme Celestial King. And then I end my turn."
"Neither of them is even giving an inch!" the commentator shouted, and the audience screamed even more as they watched this balanced duel.
Then Kiriana started her next turn.
"I set one card face-down and attack Supreme King Gate Magician with Lion Dancer!"
Kira's monster sharpened its claws and dashed towards Nintendrik's spellcaster.
"I activate Soul of the Supreme Celestial King! First I tribute my Gate Magician!" The monster disappeared from the field before the attack went through. "And then I banish the required materials from my hand, deck, extra deck, field or graveyard to fusion summon!"
"So basically an always-working fusion, huh?" Kiriana asked and wobbled her ears.
"Exactly. From my deck, extra deck and graveyard, I banish Odd-Eyes Pendulum Dragon, Starving Venom Fusion Dragon, Clear Wing Synchro Dragon and Dark Rebellion Xyz Dragon. Now kneel before the supreme ruler of all four dimensions: Fusion, Synchro, Xyz and Pendulum! Come forth and destroy my enemy! Fusion Summon! Appear, Supreme King Z-ARC (ATK 4000)!"
A dragon bigger than the entire stadium now looked down on Kiriana and the entire audience as it let out an incredibly loud roar.
"Ladies and gentleman, Nintendrik finally summoned his strongest fusion and pendulum monster! That means he's really getting serious now!"
"As if it hasn't been serious until now..." Kiriana mumbled.
"Supreme King Z-ARC'S effect activates! When I succeeded in its fusion summon, it destroys every single card on your field!"
"But Lion Dancer cannot be destroyed by any of your card effects," Kiriana countered. "Since the situation on the field has changed, I stop my attack and end the turn."
"My turn! I draw!" Nintendrik shouted as he was now fully pumped. "I use the pendulum scale and perform another pendulum summon for another Harmonizing magician from my hand! And when she is special summoned, I can summon a pendulum spellcaster from my deck; and its Purple Poison Magician!"
"Another synchro summon, eh?" Kiriana asked who seemed less motivated since Z-ARC entered the field.
"Nope. I overlay Harmonizing and Purple Poison Magician to build the overlay network!"
As he said that, his two monsters were sucked into a black hole in the ground; then a giant light shot out of the black hole.
"Fangs of rebellion that have gained new power, strike the enemy with your dark powers and bring forth the battle spirit! Xyz Summon! Appear, Supreme King Dragon Dark Rebellion (ATK 2500)!"
"Let me guess: it's over now," Kiriana said with her arms crossed.
"Hey, it was super close. If I didn't drew Harmonizing Magician this turn, I would have had more problems."
Kiriana looked up to Z-ARC. "Yeah, definitely."
"Hey, this is still a show here," Nintendrik reminded her. "But even the best show must come to an end at some point. Now, Dark Rebellion, attack Lion Dancer!"
His monster charged its fangs with electricity and started the attack.
Kiriana on the other side of the field suddenly started running over the field, then jumping up to one of the platforms created by the action field, grabbing one of the action cards.
"Perfect! The action spell Double Attack!" she shouted. "One of my monster's attack points are doubled during the Battle Phase! With this, Lunalight Lion Dancer has now 7000 attack points! You will take 4500 damage!"
"Sorry, but that's not gonna happen," Nintendrik said and smiled. "I activate Dark Rebellion's effect: during a battle with him, I can detach one material to reduce your monster's attack points to 0; and Dark Rebellion gains the attack points that your monster lost! Go, treason discharge!"
In the middle of the attack, Dark Rebellion sent out electric waves that dropped Lion Dancer's attack points to 0 while those of Nintendrik's dragon became 9500.
Due to the battle, Kiriana lost her monster and all of her life points. The action field disappeared again, and the audience freaked out in joy.
"And it's over!" the commentator shouted from his room. "Nintendrik and Kiriana both showed a lot of their potential, but as we all know, there can only be one winner! Everyone, a big applause for the two Vtubers!"
Nintendrik ran over to Kiriana who looked quite resigned.
"Don't you dare ever telling me again that you're not a good player," she said to him and snorted.
"Yeah, yeah, I won't tell you again," Nintendrik promised while he waved towards the audience. "But now, I think we both need a little break. How about having a pizza?"
"Hrrmm… alright, but you're gonna pay," Kira said while they now started walking out of the stadium.
"What? But I already paid last time!"
"I have no memories of that..."
"Alright, everyone, it's all going as planned so far," the voice from the end of the room said. "The tournament has started, and once it's over, our time will have come."
The owner of the voice looked at one of the monitors which were the only sources of light in the room.
"No one's gonna be able to stop us once we're at the peak of our power. No human. No duelist. No Vtuber. And no Vtuber duelist. We're gonna be absolute."
