Chapter 2
Time skip 5 years.
Over the last five years Jeanne had taken one to fully convince everyone in her family that she was ready to start training to become a hunter most of the efforts were spent convincing her father and older brothers her mother was surprisingly on board with her decision. Ever since the 'awakening' she had turned into a bit of a spoiled child and most definitely a daddy's girl he would spoil Jeanne rotten, and it was what Jeanne exploited when she finally convince her father she was committed to becoming a hunter it was all quite comedic in Jeanne's opinion.
In Ansel where Jeanne lived, they didn't have any huntsman's academy available but it was a town for huntsmen and huntresses that had retired and the arc were quite well known in the town as most of Jeanne's family could hold their own in a fight and both of Jeanne's parents had there huntsmen's license, using this sway that the Arc's had Jeanne managed to join the retired hunters in the patrols around the town to defend from any Grimm around the area, she would also do her own training with her family and even got some of the retirees to spar against her.
With all of this experience she was able to get quite a few recommendations from the retired hunters and her dad had even agree to write her one as well with the amount of recommendations that she was able to get and the amount of Grimm kills that where dedicated to her in the reports made of the patrols she was able to apply to Beacon two years early just like she had planned.
Leading her here, A fifteen-year-old Jeanne Arc, with blond hair in a braid flowing down to her lower back with the same blue eyes she had in her previous life, was sitting on a Bullhead on its way to beacon academy for her first year of Beacon. She was sat in the corner eyes stuck firmly onto her scroll as she came to a horrifying realization 'I haven't spoken to anyone other than my family and the retirees in almost seven years, what did the cool kids talk about last time I can hardly remember' Jeanne was freaking out she had almost forgotten how anxious she had been last time and now it all came crashing down on her again.
"I can't believe my younger sister is going to Beacon with me!" Jeanne heard yang and that made her feel a bit of comfort in hearing a friend she hadn't seen in what felt like forever even if said friend doesn't exactly know her yet "Yang please stop!" 'Ah Ruby nice to see you're as awkward as ever' it was a nice comfort that everything was going the same as last time.
"But sis I'm so proud of you" yang released Ruby from a bone crushing hug, jean stopped listening to the sisters conversation 'I'm going to see Pyrrha again soon after so many years that's going to be an overwhelming experience, I've got to make sure to play it cool though and make sure that I don't go all fangirl on Pyrrha she would hate that.' Jeanne wasn't sure how she was going to handle seeing her again, she was definitely going to have to hold back tears, that was for sure.
"Hello and welcome to Beacon" Glynda Goodwitch had snapped Jeanne out of her thoughts "who's that" Yang piped in "My Name is Glynda Goodwitch" Jeanne decided to zone out for the rest of the speech have had already hearing it before well sort of hearing it before going all vomit boy over Yangs shoes 'that's not going to happen this time no thankyou that's not going to have the moniker of vomit boy, or well girl this time around' Jeanne thought as the Bullhead finally came to a landing.
'right now all that's left is for crater fac to explode the cli-' a loud *Boom* could be heard as if right on que 'right I guess it's time to go see Ruby' Jeanne started to walk over to Ruby who was lead on the floor and just gave out a huge sigh "-welcome to Beacon" Jeanne stood over her and gave an awkward wave "uhm hi I'm Jeanne" Ruby looked at her for a second before standing up and looking Jeanne directly in the eye before talking "hi I am Ruby, Ruby Rose it's a pleasure to meet you lets be friends" ruby managed to get out she sounded like an awkward robot but she did it she spoke to someone and that was progress.
Jeanne couldn't help herself she laughed it was so classic ruby she couldn't not laugh, then she noticed Rubys heartbroken face and froze "oh no, I'm sorry I would love to be friends." Ruby's face went from sad to a happy puppy almost instantly "awesome!" ruby shouted then settled an awkward silence yet again "um shall we get going?" Jeanne said and started to walk towards the many arches that surrounded Beacon.
"So... I've got this thing" Ruby stated to cut through how awkward she was feeling and whipped out her scythe/sniper-rifle "whoa is that a scythe! From the looks o it a gun as well, right?" Jeanne said and ruby looked happy 'yeah that's right ruby I know that a weapon can be two things this time around' "yes, that's right it's a customizable high-impact sniper rifle!" Ruby stated feeling proud of her work "so what have you got" prompting me to show my weapon.
Jeanne hadn't needed to steal Crocea Mors this time and she felt like it wasn't right to have it this time so she had 'Catherine De Fierbois' a sword and shield exactly like the upgraded Crocea Mors after the fall of beacon with the addition of the sword also turning into a spear she had it made by a blacksmith back in Ansel.
"This is Catherine De Fierbois it's a sword/spear and shield" Jeanne said whilst showing of her weapon she was happy with "that's so cool, But why isn't there a gun, guns are so cool!" came the reply of an exited Ruby "well I'm more of a close up fighting sort of girl you know, that and I cant aim to save my life, got me to use one and I nearly shot my brother" I laughed at the memory, Ruby seemed to find it funny as well she also started to giggle.
When Jeanne and Ruby finally made it to Beacons Giant auditorium Yang waved and called out to Ruby "Ruby! Over here! I saved you a spot!" "that's my sister Yang come on let's go." Ruby grabbed my hand and started dragging me over to where her sister was standing. "how's your first day going little sis?" Yang asked Ruby huffed "you mean after you ditched me, and I exploded?"
Yang paused for a split second "yikes meltdown already huh?" she asked "no, I literally exploded there was some fire and I think some ice! Tell her Jeanne" I was just amused watching the scene "huh, oh right yeah big boom and everything" I helpfully supplied Yang just stared again not sure what to make of this "are you being sarcastic?"
Ruby scoffed "I wish! I tripped over some crabby girl's luggage, and then she yelled at me, and then I sneezed, and then I exploded, and then she yelled at me some more, and I felt really, really bad and I just wanted her to stop yelling" Ruby ranted, as she was doing so Weiss appeared behind Ruby.
"You!" Weiss screamed "you are lucky we weren't blown off the cliff" Ruby jumped up into Yang's arms "oh, gods its happening again" everything seemed to sink in and click for Yang "oh my gods you really exploded" Yang whispered out that was it for Jeanne as she tried to hide her snickering it was just to funny to watch it seemed to be a fatal error on her part.
Weiss snapped her head towards Jeanne and seemed to evaluate her Jeanne froze, Weiss finally spoke "just great Beacons becoming a day care not just one incompetent child but two what is going on I thought that this was supposed to be a hunters academy!" Weiss ground out she was the first person to actually notice the age difference she had with everyone else, in all honestly, she was surprised Ruby didn't bring it up whilst they were walking hell, she was shorter than ruby was that had to be some sort of accomplishment.
Ruby and Yang both seemed to have gotten their bearings and stare at Jeanne for a few seconds before talking "now that it's been brought up how old are you exactly? You definitely can't be seventeen like us I would peg you at ruby's age" Yang asked, and ruby nodded along whilst she spoke "yeah, about that I'm actually fifteen but with all the recommendations I got and Grimm kills dedicated to me in the patrol reports I managed to enroll early" Jeanne spoke with a weak voice.
Ruby's silver eyes sparkled "thars so cool we're the same age, I thought I would be the only one" she beamed after learning this information "yeah you two can be besties little sis!" Yang chimed in. "oh of course I will even join in myself, and we can have sleepovers and talk about tall, dark and stoic" Weiss spoke with sarcasm pointing over at Ren who was standing next to Nora "wow Really?" Ruby asked hopefully, not sensing the utter hatred Wiess was giving of at her "no" Weiss Deadpanned and stormed of Ruby and Yang frowned.
Just then everyone was cut out of their chattering by Ozpin and Glynda walking onto the stage Ozpin spoke "I'll… keep this brief. You have traveled here in search of knowledge, to hone your craft and acquire new skills, and when you have finished, you plan to dedicate your life to the protection of the people. But I look amongst you, and all I see is wasted energy, in need of purpose, direction. You assume knowledge will free you of this, but your time at this school will prove that knowledge can only carry you so far. It is up to you to take the first step." As Ozpin stopped talking and walked away from the stage it was Glynda's time to talk "you will be sleeping in the ballroom tonight, tomorrow you will be initiation, be ready" then Ms. Goodwitch also began to walk away.
Yang, Ruby, and Jeanne all looked at each other "that speech was kind of a downer, no?" "yeah" Ruby spoke not completely there she seemed distracted "lets just get ready for bed guys?" yang chimed in 'time to get ready for initiation tomorrow' Jeanne thought.
