Hey guys, sorry I missed last week. Unfortunately, a tragedy struck my family. We lost the family cat who's been nothing but a sweetheart for a majority of my life. I couldn't finish the chapter until now, too down to write. I am announcing however that my upload schedule will be once every two weeks now. I need some free time to write these chapters, as it was difficult for me to make them in one week. I'm glad many of you are enjoying the story, because you inspired me to keep going.
Reader20448: Thank you!
Sea21: Thanks! And you'll see who I chose to fill in for Izuku.
ProjectIceman: Soon you will see.
Guest 1: You bet Shoto will try and piss off his father. Obviously Mina will apply for the class, but the idea of her being better than Momo does sound interesting.
GuestW: Glad you liked it! I'm glad someone saw the Ben 10 aliens easter egg. Most likely may use aliens from other medias for small or background characters. As for the pairing, I'm leaning towards something more... alien! I'm not sure why your reviews pop up later than others, must be the website.
Noggin78: I wanted to do something unique with Izuku on Earth. Uraraka will for sure be interested in his class.
Ryubar Tepes: People in the government may not be all to cooperative dealing with alien governments. Bakugou will have an interesting reaction to seeing Izuku at U.A.
Guest 4: Blue Lanterns are busy. Besides, Izuku may do something about All Might's injured state.
It was a few days later when Izuku finally moved into his classroom. He was setting up the room with decorations to fit the theme of his class when Eraserhead came in with Nezu on his shoulder once again.
"Good morning, Midoriya. I see you have finally settled into your class." Nezu commented.
"I have, sir. Though I feel like something is missing, but never mind that. What brings you in?" Izuku asked.
"I believe it's now time to introduce you to the rest of the staff. We are having a meeting about the upcoming entrance exam, and I would like for you to be there as well." Nezu answered.
"Well, lead away." Izuku said.
Suddenly his ring beeped loudly, making everyone look at it. "Warning, Ring power level is at 10%." His ring said.
"Oh, bout time for a recharge. Give me a moment" Izuku told them.
Izuku then raised his ring forward and made a tear in the air shining a green light. He reached in and took out a green lantern before closing the rift.
"What is that, Mr. Midoryia?" Nezu asked.
"My lanter battery. It allows me to recharge my ring if it's low on energy. The lantern recharges itself after a day." Izuku revealed.
He put his fist with his ring against the lantern, feeling the power of will siphon through him.
"In brightest day."
"In blackest night."
"No evil shall escape my sight."
"Let those who worship evil's might."
"Beware my power."
"Green Lantern's light."
With his ring back at a hundred percent, Midoriya had an idea of what to add to the room. He placed the lantern on his desk and turned it a few times before being satisfied with its position.
"There we go. Now the room feels complete." Izuku stated.
"If I may ask Midoriya, what was that chant?" Nezu wondered with Aizawa.
"That was the Green Lantern oath, sir. We say it whenever we recharge our rings. It's not necessary to, but we do it out of respect for the first Green Lanterns." Izuku explained.
With that done, the trio exited the classroom room and walked through the halls until they found the conference room. Inside there was a long table with several seats, all but three occupied. Nezu and Eraserhead head took their seats next to each other, leaving Izuku the last seat between Midnight and All Might, who was in his skinny form to his surprise. Izuku nodded to him and tried to ignore the ogling Midnight was giving him as he sat down.
"Before we tackle the main reasoning of this meeting, I would like to introduce all of you to our newest staff member and teacher Izuku Midoriya, the Green Lantern." Nezu introduced.
"Wait, he's the new hire?" Vlad questioned.
"Yes, he was hired a few days ago for our new elective class." Nezu said.
"So that's why he was here. Why give him a test instead of an interview like the rest of us?" Present Mic asked.
"I was in middle school when I left Earth and didn't get to finish my education. So, Principal Nezu here got to make up a test that went over everything I would've done in high school, and I passed it which allowed him to hire me." Izuku explained.
"Oh." Present Mic said understanding.
"Well, I'm happy to have another space hero working at this school." Thirteen approved.
"I don't have a problem either." Cementos commented.
Everyone else threw around words of agreement with Aizawa giving an indifferent shrug. All Might was ecstatic to be able to spend some more time with Midoriya.
"Now with that out of the way, it's time we discuss the upcoming Entrance exam. As well as the Recommendation exams coming up tomorrow." Nezu said.
"What time will that be?" Eraserhead asked.
"It will begin in the afternoon, and I would like for everyone to be there tomorrow to discuss which of the candidates will get in." Nezu answered.
"How many students are taking it?" Midoriya asked.
"A couple dozen, but only their actions will show if they deserve to be in our school." Nezu states.
"These candidates will also possess either powerful or versatile quirks, maybe both. If they are recommended by a pro or wealthy sponsor, they are set with high expectations and must meet them in order to pass." Eraserhead added.
"When will the Entrance exam take place?" All Might spoke up.
"A week ahead of tomorrow's exam. That will allow us some time to do the paperwork for the candidates that pass before the next exam comes up." Nezu revealed.
"If I may ask, what's the difference between the Recommendation and Entrance exam?" Midoriya asked.
"The Entrance exam is split into two parts, a written exam, and a combat exam, where they fight robots with their quirks and try to rack up as many points as they can. There are also hidden points they can get if they do a heroic act like saving someone from danger." Eraserhead said.
"The Recommendation exam consists of a written test, a practical test, and an interview. For the practical exam, students race through a long obstacle course using their Quirks in a limited amount of time. Obviously, the interview will allow us to determine if their personality and goals belong in our school." Nezu answered.
"Hmm, that all sounds great except for the robot part. What if their quirks aren't suitable against machines?" Izuku questioned.
"There is an off switch behind their backs that the candidates can hit if their quirks can't damage them." Nezu explained.
"Ah, continue then." Izuku said.
The entire teaching staff then went on to discuss everything that was needed for the preparations for both exams. Midoriya sat there for the entire day going over everything twice, not leaving anything unturned on his first day.
It was almost the afternoon the next day when Midoriya walked into the viewing room above the gym where a dozen candidates stood around in a small arena with an obstacle course created by Cementos. They just finished their written test that only required Nezu and a couple of teachers to be present, allowing Midoriya and others to show up later. Izuku had even bought coffee for everyone there who was tired from all the work yesterday and handed the first one to Eraserhead.
"Coffee?" Izuku offered.
Aizawa only hummed in satisfaction once he took a sip of the holy beverage. He nodded thanks to Midoriya as he began passing around the several coffee drinks to everyone there. Midnight a loud moan in front of Midoriya when she took a sip, who once again tried to ignore the woman's teasing. He gave the last free coffee cup to All Might, who looked exhausted from yesterday's meeting.
"Thank you Midoriya." Toshinori said with gratitude.
"You look more exhausted than everyone, and I don't think it's just because of all the work we had to do." Izuku speculated.
"Sigh, you're right. I had used up my three hours this morning dealing with many criminals, not realizing how much time had passed." He admitted.
"Right, your time limit." Izuku mentioned.
"Attention everyone! The practical test will commence in five minutes." Present Mic yelled out to everyone in the gym through the microphone.
All Might and Midoriya stopped their conversation to join the others sitting in the booth. With everyone seated, they waited and chatted as the timer counted down till the test would start.
Down below where the contestants stood, a nervous girl with a dark-haired ponytail was trying to calm her nerves.
Momo was glad she aced the written exam, though she was shocked to see half of the candidates fail the test. It made her worry about disappointing her parents and herself for failing. As she tried to meditate to ease her worries, a feminine voice spoke up right next to her.
"Scary isn't it?" They asked.
Momo turned to see a thin girl slightly shorter than her, whose dark hair reached her shoulders.
"I'm sorry?" Momo inquired.
"Seeing all those people fail just like that. It can be very intimidating, but you shouldn't let it deter you." She said.
"... how do I know I won't fail this?" Momo asked.
"You can't, but you managed to kick the other test's ass. So why can't you do the same to this one?" She questioned.
Momo only stared at the girl silencing before smiling at her. "You're right. Oh, I'm so sorry, I didn't catch your name. I'm Momo Yaoyorozu, and you are?" Momo politely asked.
"I'm Gogo Amari, and you are welcome for the pep talk." She revealed.
"Well thank you, Amari." Momo said with gratitude.
"Don't sweat it, and call me Gogo. I came from America, so I would prefer it if you could call me by my first name if you're comfortable with it." Gogo requested.
Suddenly Present Mic yelled out over the intercom once again. "The test starts in one minute, get into positions!"
"Oh, gotta go! Hope to see you later Yaoyorozu." Gogo said before dashing off.
Momo did as well, as she would very much like to see Gogo again after this. She hoped the both of them passed and got into U.A. Nevertheless, she went and got into position with everyone else.
The countdown reached ten seconds with everyone ready to sprint the moment it hit zero. Momo saw every participant ready their quirks, including Gogo who shot out two disks from her skin and hovered them next to her feet raising her slightly above the ground. Momo had the idea of creating an electric scooter with three seconds left.
"3... 2... 1... GO!" Present shouted.
Then they were off.
Back in the viewing room, all the teachers watched each participant closely with drones recording their every move for later research. Izuku focused on the two leading candidates with flashy quirks, one having the ability to manipulate wind and the other having two quirks, ice and fire. However, the dual-quirked boy only used and relied on his ice to get him across while protecting himself from flying objects. The wind user simply floated through with an air sphere that knocked away any projectiles launched at him.
"Hmm, very flashy quirks." Vlad commented.
"They look well trained in them. Good." Eraserhead said.
He marked down both for having good control of their quirks and moved on to the other two that interested him. Both were young girls whose quirks could create items, with one only able to make disks and the other could create anything non-organic if she knew the chemical compound. The first girl was very handy with her quirk, using the disks as rollerblades for maneuverability and projectiles against incoming shots.
"I like her style." Snipe said, appreciating her aim.
"She is both fast and acrobatic with those disks." Midnight noted.
The second girl however, her quirk was both versatile and powerful. She could crash the market if she made valuable goods and make a dangerous villain if she ever made weapons for criminals. He was glad she chose the path of a hero, having one like her would be beneficial to the world.
"While it can be difficult having to remember all those compounds for normal people, Ms. Yaoyorozu possesses an incredible intellect to make full use of her quirk." Nezu said drinking tea.
The last two that interested him had some interesting quirks. The girl had green hair and sharp teeth, with her quirk allowing her to split her body into many parts and regenerate if they were destroyed. She can also levitate with them like she is doing right now, easily dodging every obstacle and passing the finish line. The second person was a boy with no lips, his mouth shaped like a skeleton. He could soften any surface he touched and is quite skilled with it, as all teachers saw him swim through the floor out of the finish line.
"Now those two breezed through this thing like nothing." Present Mic said.
"I wonder how he came up with the idea to swim through his soft surfaces?" Thirteen wondered aloud.
He watched all of them jump, slide, or hover over the obstacles while evading swinging objects meant to knock them off the course. Three of the candidates were knocked out of the race for not paying attention to their surroundings, sharing defeated and angry looks as they limped out of the gym. They only had one minute to get through the entire course, and the timer buzzed loudly with only seven candidates having made it, the last two in the course growled at themselves for not finishing in time before leaving. Izuku noticed the wind guy talking to the ice man but had a miffed expression when he walked away.
Now, that leaves just the interviews.
The last seven were in a room waiting to be called in for the last test. They were given snacks and beverages for dealing with the obstacle course, with Momo eating much more than everyone else.
"Damn Momo, I don't know how you can keep a figure like that if you eat this much." Gogo said.
Momo slightly blushed from her first name being used. "My quirk requires the usage of my fat, so I eat large amounts of calories for fuel."
"Wait, does that mean you can't get fat?" Gogo questioned.
"Well I can, it would probably take an entire buffet to make my figure big." Momo answered.
"... I'm so goddamn jealous of you." Gogo said making Momo giggle.
The other participants were also chatting, with Setsuna and Juzo getting annoyed by the boasting of the seventh person. The last two however were silently waiting, with Inasa glaring at Todoroki.
'He's just like his old man, full of hate. How could U.A. allow someone like him to become a hero?' He questioned in his head.
Inasa had actually passed the finish line right before Shoto did. He was amazed at the power Todoroki held and immediately connected the dots he was Endeavor's son. He used to be a fan of the man before meeting him as a child, where he got to witness the personality Endeavor possessed. After their confrontation, Inasa could only see him as a jealous and angry man, someone who wasn't fit to be a hero. He hoped Todoroki wasn't like his father, but was proven wrong after the race. He saw the same fiery hate in his eyes that Endeavor had.
Inasa then decided without thinking, only based on his feelings, and got up to leave. No one questioned why he walked out of the room, probably assuming he needed to go to the bathroom. He was going to find a teacher and tell them about his forfeit from the exam but ran into someone he didn't expect.
"Woah, where you off to buddy? The interviews are about to start." Midoriya said.
Inasa stared at him in surprise. "You're that Green Lantern guy from the hearing! What are you doing here?"
"Oh, you guys were supposed to find out later, but I was offered a teaching position here and I took it." Midoriya answered.
"So you are a teacher. Can you please tell the others I am forfeiting from the exam?" He asked.
"Forfeit!? Now why are you doing that?" Izuku asked.
"Personal reasons, sir. Can I leave?" Inasa requested.
"Look I'm not supposed to tell you this, but you are the leading candidate in the exam right now. If this interview goes well, you will be allowed in. Do you really want to throw away an opportunity like this?" He questioned.
"I don't, sir. I just don't think it's the right place for me." Inasa said.
"Is it because of that Todoroki kid?" Izuku asked.
Inasa remained quiet when asked that question.
"Look, don't let one person stop you from making a choice. This place is meant to change people for the better, all I ask is you give it a shot." Izuku said.
Inasa contemplated in the halls for a minute, before sighing and turning back into the room. Midoriya felt pleased having convinced the kid and felt someone clap him on the back.
"Nice save there, Midoriya." Toshinori said.
"Yeah. Let's get those interviews dealt with because I'm getting hungry." Izuku complained as the two went back to the interview room.
"What qualities do you believe are essential for a hero to possess?" Nezu asked with the other teachers behind him clad in darkness.
"I believe heroes should have courage, a passion for heroics, and a strong sense of justice. All heroes I feel are required to have those traits." Inasa said.
"How do you prioritize between saving civilians and apprehending villains in a crisis?" He questioned.
"In a crisis situation, prioritizing between saving civilians and apprehending villains is crucial. My approach would be to ensure the safety of civilians first, as their lives are the top priority. Once civilians are out of immediate danger, then the focus can shift to apprehending villains." Momo answered.
"In what ways do you believe technology can enhance or hinder hero work?" He asked.
"So technology can make hero stuff easier, you know? Like, it helps with quick responses and analyzing stuff. But, if it glitches or gets hacked, we're kinda screwed. And relying too much on gadgets can make us lazy or not trust our gut instincts." Setsuna said.
"How do you maintain your physical and mental fitness to perform hero duties effectively?" Nezu asked.
"Well, staying fit for hero stuff is super important, so I try to hit the gym regularly, do some cardio, and lift weights to stay strong. Also, yoga helps me keep flexible and calm my mind. Oh, and I make sure to get enough sleep and eat healthy to keep my energy up. And talking to friends and taking breaks when I need to helps keep my mental game strong too. It's all about balance, really." Gogo responded.
"How do you plan to utilize your quirk to make a positive impact as a hero?" Nezu inquired.
"Well, my whole thing is making things soft, so I say it would be pretty easy for me to save civilians that are in harm's way, or stop the bad guy by sinking them in the ground." Juzo said.
"What do you hope to achieve as a hero in the long term?" Nezu asked.
"By making the top with my ice. I want to prove with 'my power' that I can help anyone and stop the villain." Shoto said.
"Lastly, why do you want to be a hero?" Nezu wondered.
"Well, let's be real here. Being a hero means you're in the spotlight 24/7. Who wouldn't want that kind of fame and adoration? Plus, the perks are pretty sweet too – endorsements, fan clubs, you name it. But hey, don't get me wrong, I'll still save people and stuff. It's just a bonus that I get to be famous while doing it." The seventh candidate arrogantly said.
"Well, that wraps up the interview. You will know in a few days if you made it into the school." Nezu told him.
"Sure, whatever. I'll be waiting for that acceptance letter." He said before leaving.
"... he's definitely not getting in." Midoriya said.
Everyone shared his sentiments and already marked off the last candidate as a no-go. Every question he answered almost made everyone scoff loudly, but held it in to show some respect.
"Everyone else showed promising potential. At least, in my opinion." All Might said.
"I have to agree with All Might. Endeavor's son and the wind boy have a fire in them that I like." Vlad said.
"I like the disk kid already. She's got her head in the right place." Snipe complimented.
"The Yaoyorozu girl was very informative in her answers. I would like her in my class, if possible." Aizawa requested.
"The lizard girl and soft boy are nice. I say we give them the chance." Midnight said.
"Besides the last candidate, we agree the remaining six deserve a spot in the hero classes?" Nezu asked around.
"Aye!" Was thrown around by all the teachers in the room.
"Then it's settled! The paperwork for their acceptance will be finished tomorrow. Until then, everyone." Nezu said.
With that everyone began leaving with Nezu going to walk the new students out. Izuku was going back to his room to do some extra work, with the Entrance exam only a week away.
13 Years Ago:
Izuku enjoyed flying through space as he followed Tomar-Re at light speed. He was very excited to be on his first field mission and see another alien planet. One that Tomar-Re liked quite a bit.
"So what is Seletris like?" Izuku asked.
"Seletris is a rather peaceful world that welcomes everyone in this sector. You will find many great cultures from other worlds stationed there." Tomar-Re revealed.
"So like a resort then?" Izuku asked again.
"Hmm, I suppose so. We're getting close, prepare to exit light speed." Tomar-Re advised.
The blurry stars began to slow down until the two stopped in front of a big blue planet. As they entered the atmosphere, Izuku noted that the islands looked tropical with many beaches. They approached an island with a large silver city, holding hundreds of restaurants and stores with all kinds of aliens moving through them.
"This place looks amazing!" Izuku exclaimed.
"I'm glad you share my thoughts, Midoriya." Tomar-Re said.
"So what's the problem here?" Izuku asked.
"I was contacted by an officer here who found something strange hidden in one of the jungles before it was taken into custody. It was a technology that didn't belong on Seletris and didn't exist in their database." Tomar-Re explained.
"So we're here to figure out what that is?" Izuku guessed.
"That and something else. You see his commanding officer acted strange when it was discovered. He assumed it was nothing until he later checked in on it and discovered it was never logged in." Tomar-Re said.
"You think his boss is hiding something shady?" Izuku theorized.
"I do and so does he. Fly down, he's in a pub waiting for us." Tomar-Re ordered.
The two Green Lanterns descended into the crowd who paid no attention to them, accustomed to seeing Tomar-Re around these parts. They entered a building, the interior lit with warm lighting, filled to the brim with many patrons drinking different beverages. They found their man sitting in a booth in a corner, who had a human-like appearance with blue skin, a bald head, and red eyes. He wore a white uniform and noticed us immediately.
"Tomar-Re, over here!" He called.
We walked over and sat in the booth. "Dunik, it's been a long time." He greeted.
"That it has. It's good to see you again, but I wish it were under better circumstances." Dunik said.
Just then a redheaded waitress came over with a digital notepad. She had purple skin and a long neck with blemishes all over her.
"Can I get you gentleman anything?" She offered.
"I'll have a zocha." Dunik requested.
"I'll have green milk, my friend will have blue milk." Tomar-Re ordered for Midoriya.
The waitress left for their drinks. "Is it any good?" He asked.
"I think you'll like it. If not, it's an extra drink for me." Tomar-Re said before turning back to Dunik. "So, what's your situation?"
"I tried looking into where the tech was taken, as they never made it to the station. I checked into the security cams of the area, but it was never driven out of the forest." He revealed.
"You have no other leads?" Tomar-Re questioned.
"Well, I went back to the crime scene and saw many leaves scattered around. The dirt was cleared of any as if they were blown away." He said.
The waitress came back and placed their drinks in front of them before placing a bowl in the middle with some cubed nuts. Midoriya took a sip of his blue milk and quite enjoyed the fruity taste. He then reached for a nut and looked at Tomar-Re, who nodded that it was safe with Izuku biting down on one. It had a sweet flavor to it and made a loud crunch sound as he chewed on it.
"So you believe it was transported by a cargo ship?" Tomar-Re said.
"Yes, but it couldn't have left the planet. Our planetary border hasn't detected any cargo transports leaving Seletris since then. So most likely it's still here." Dunik said before drinking his zocha.
"Hmm, have you done a search for it on land yet?" Tomar-Re inquired.
"Ahem, I have not. I wasn't sure if I could trust my men. I thought maybe you could do it, as your rings are efficient in identifying almost anything in the universe." He said.
"We could. What areas do we need to search over?" Tomar-Re asked.
"I'm not entirely sure yet, but I do have some files back home that share similar errors with my investigation. One place I believe we can check is-" he stopped.
Suddenly, Dunik clutched his throat with wide eyes and stared at us alarmed. He was unable to say anything but choking gasps before falling out of the booth onto the floor, startling every patron in the bar. Tomar-Re quickly kneeled next to Dunik trying to help him with Midoriya standing by unsure what to do.
"I can't feel anything in his throat!" Tomar-Re stated as he massaged his neck.
Dunik locked eyes with Izuku, looking scared and pleading to him. After a few more seconds, Dunik began to stop thrashing so slowly until he lay still. Tomar-Re touched the side of his neck trying to feel for a pulse, and Midoriya didn't like the expression he had after.
"... he's dead." Tomar-Re announced.
Shocked cries went around the room with people looking on in horror. Izuku only felt useless for not being able to do something to help. As he looked up defeated, he noticed through a window outside the same waitress who served their drinks watching them, only to start running when she made eye contact with him. Midoriya bolted without hesitation and gave chase to the woman.
Tomar-Re behind him yelled out. "Midoriya, wait!" He shouted.
He ignored him as he ran outside into the crowd of people looking for her. Unfortunately, the dense population made it difficult for to him locate her, so Izuku had the idea to fly up surprising the aliens around him. He looked down at the crowd searching for the purple redhead, only to find her running through people as she looked back at him. He immediately flew after her as she ran out of the crowd and into an alley.
"Midoriya, stop!" He heard Tomar-Re behind him.
Once again he ignored the order and turned into the alley, only to see the waitress push a squid man off his hoverbike and take it into the air. Izuku growled and sped after her, Tomar-Re seeing them from a distance before flying off elsewhere.
Midoriya started shooting energy bolts at her bike, trying to be careful to not accidentally hit any vehicles that they flew by. He suddenly had to dodge when shots were fired back, the woman having pulled out a hidden blaster. One of the shots he dodged hit the engine of a small cargo cruiser, the driver freaking out and trying to keep his vehicle in the air. A small part of Midoriya was reluctant to let the assassin go, but a bigger part of him wanted to stop the truck from crashing into the crowds below.
The grey driver of the cargo ship was desperately pulling up on his steering wheel, staring fearfully with his big black eyes at the approaching crowd. Below people began to notice the falling truck and ran to get out of the way. One alien child who looked like a blue ant stood still in fear, his father grabbing him and shielding his son before the vehicle hit them.
Only the pain never came and both the father and son looked up to see a green construct wrapped around the cargo truck. People moved aside as it was set down softly, the driver hopping out to see Midoriya holding it. He released it as people began cheering for him and while Izuku felt amazing about it, he pushed those feelings down to resume chasing after the shooter.
Miles ahead the woman was relieved to have escaped from the Green Lanterns. As she was about to change direction, a green spear was lodged into the stolen bike completely wrecking the engine. The panicked woman jumped off the bike before it crashed in an explosion, throwing her back against a wall. Hurt, she leaned against the wall as she was basked by the green light of Tomar-Re.
"Do not resist, you are under arrest." He told her.
Midoriya stumbled upon the two after hearing the explosion. Both Green Lanterns dropped to the ground and had their rings aimed at the woman.
"It's obvious why you ran. So why don't you tell us why you poisoned an officer?" Tomar-Re questioned.
"Please! I didn't want to, but I had to clear my debts!" She pleaded.
"Your debts?" Midoriya inquired.
"They told me if I did this, all my debts would be wiped off the board! I almost didn't do it until they threatened me!" She answered.
"Who ordered you to do this!?" Tomar-Re demanded.
"I'm not sure! All I know is-"
Suddenly there was a gross bursting sound and both Lanterns were covered in purple slime. When Izuku wiped his eyes off, he was horrified to see the woman.
Her head was blown off with purple blood spouting out of her neck. Her remains covered the entire fronts of their uniforms and faces.
"My god..." Tomar-Re said.
"She's de- her head... it's gone!" Izuku exclaimed.
Tomar-Re looked sadly at him and Izuku stared back with wide eyes.
This was not how his first patrol was supposed to go.
Present Day:
It was a week later when Midoriya was going grocery shopping. His mom wanted to make him lunch to take to work, so he was picking up the ingredients and stashing them in his basket. It was an odd site though as he was wearing his Green Lantern uniform in the store, with some people watching him out of curiosity.
"What kind of meat should I get, beef or pork?" He asked himself.
"Um, excuse me Green Lantern, sir?" A girlish voice spoke up behind him.
Izuku turned to see a teenage girl with pink skin and horns, who looked up at him excitedly with her dark yellow eyes.
"Oh, can I help you?" He asked.
She reached into her backpack before thrusting a picture and pen at him. "Can you please sign this!?" She begged.
Signing something wasn't new for him, but coming from a human felt very different. Almost like he was signing an autograph for the first time again. He took it to see an art drawing of him in his Green Lantern uniform, his fist raised to the stars and shooting out a bright green beem. People were making fanart of him already?
"Uh sure, I can do that. What's your name?" He asked.
"Mina Ashido! How many aliens have you met?" She questioned.
He began signing the drawing. "Millions by now I think." He answered.
"Are you friends with any?" She asked again.
"Hundreds, all each unique in their way. Here you go." He said.
Mina took the paper gently and stared at it with awe. "I will forever treasure this as a family heirloom." She stated.
"Oh, you don't need to do that." He chuckled.
A beeping noise came from her and she pulled out her phone. Her face morphed to a paler pink when she saw the time.
"Crap, I'm late for the entrance exam! Thank you so much for this, I hope to see you again!" Mina shouted before running out of the store.
Izuku only shrugged before grabbing both kinds of meat, unable to choose between them. He walked to wait in line behind a father with a child, having his groceries processed and looking nervous at the price.
"That will be eighty-two hundred yen." The cashier lady said.
The man cringed at the price, not having enough money on him to pay. He looked over his items which contained mostly food for his daughter and only a couple of things for him. He sighed and took his items off the list, hopefully having enough to pay for his kid's food.
"Excuse me, I'm on a bit of a time crunch. Can I add this man's items to my cart?" Izuku offered.
"Oh no, I don't want you to have to-" the father stopped, now noticing his suit.
"Nonsense, consider it my good deed of the day." Izuku said.
"Uh, you can do that." The cashier lady said.
The two civilians were stumped to see him there, and Izuku was glad the man was too shocked to protest him buying his food for him. Having paid for everything, Izuku went to leave with his items but was stopped by the father.
"Sir, thank you for this! I don't know how I'm going to repay you." He thanked Midoriya profusely.
"You were about to sacrifice your needs for your daughter, that's more than enough. Have a good day sir." Izuku told him.
Then he flew off, leaving the father with his babbling child. He hoped mom would like the variety of ingredients he chose.
Katsuki Bakugou was stressed for the nine months Deku was gone, and it only got worse when he returned. The nerd was a lot older and apparently had power now, but Bakugou still believes he can easily put him back in place. Just because some stupid space jewelry chose Deku and not him didn't mean he was better than Katsuki.
Right now he was sitting outside of a prop city where the physical was about to begin. All the extras here were getting on his nerves along with Deku. He needed something to explode now.
However, he wasn't aware that Midoriya was up in the viewer's booth with the other teachers.
"So, all these kids have to destroy as many robots as they can?" Izuku asked All Might.
"Yes, those with the highest will be allowed to enter the hero course. Though I'm not sure how candidates with quirks that can't affect robots will do." He said.
"Hmm, on the packet here there is a button on their back that a candidate can press to shut them down. There's also something here about rescue points, which you can earn by helping or saving other candidates." Izuku revealed.
"Ah, so they have it hidden so that their actions will be genuine." All Might noted.
"Attention everyone, the test will begin in one minute." Nezu notified everyone in the room.
"I wonder what kind of quirks we'll see today." Izuku wondered aloud.
"It will be interesting. I'm curious if anyone will be able to top my score this year." Toshinori said.
"... wanna make a bet?" Izuku asked.
"What kind?" He inquired.
"I bet you no one will score more than a hundred points in the test. The loser gets to pay for the winner's dinner." Izuku stated.
"Hmm, alright. I bet one person will earn more than a hundred points." All Might said.
"Deal." Izuku said.
Tenya Iida was running through the fake city to destroy test robots with his kicks as he sped to each one in range. He was also making an effort to avoid other candidates so he didn't get in their way and to score more points for himself. He saw multiple people with interesting quirks like a boy who could shoot lasers from his stomach, another boy who could harden his skin, and a girl who could affect gravity. Iida wondered which of them would be his classmates if he were to pass. Nonetheless, he continued smashing through robots with his engine legs.
However, that changed when the ground began shaking, throwing almost everyone off their balance.
Back up in the viewing room, Nezu had Power Loader activate something.
"All right! Zero-pointer is in the house!" Present Mic excitedly shouted, with Eraserhead grumbling from the noise.
"What's a zero-pointer?" Izuku asked.
"A robot as big as the buildings. The participants are meant to evade and run from it, as it doesn't grant any points." Power Loader answered.
Back below, Tenya and others gazed up fearfully at the colossal android. People began running away, and he was about to join them until he heard a cry behind him. He turned to see the gravity pinned under rubble with the zero-pointer approaching.
He wanted to run from the danger, but then he remembered a conversation he had before the test resurfaced.
Iida was walking to the restroom after changing into gym wear. The practical exam was going to start in fifteen minutes, so he had plenty of time to do his business and do some stretches before it started.
As he was about to enter the door opened with someone else coming out, and Iida was shocked by the person in the green suit being there.
"Oh, uh sorry. Thought no one would come here." Izuku said.
"The- the other bathrooms were full. What are you doing here!?" Tenya questioned.
"Uh, well... ah screw it. I'm not supposed to tell anyone this, so can you keep this a secret? I'm actually a teacher here now." Midoriya revealed.
"You're a teacher!?" Iida exclaimed.
"Keep it down! I don't want anyone else to know." Midoriya requested.
"Oh, sorry! Why are you a teacher here?" Iida asked.
"The principal wanted future pros to be aware of the kinds of threats that live in space. He offered me the job since I'm the world's expert in space and a space cop." Midoriya said.
"So you'll be teaching hero students?" Iida asked again.
"Not just hero students, it's an elective. Any student enrolled can apply for the class to learn about space laws and alien technology." Midoriya answered.
"Astute of U.A. to jump on this after the discovery of aliens." Iida complimented.
"Yeah, look I got to go and join the other teachers the test starts, and... are those engines in your calves?" Midoriya asked.
"Yes, they are! They allow me to run faster than anyone else." Iida revealed.
"Out of curiosity, do you happen to be related to Ingenium?" Izuku questioned.
Iida smiled with pride. "I am. That's why I'm trying for U.A., I want to be like my brother."
"He's your hero?" Midoriya assumed.
"That he is. My brother is my biggest inspiration to become a great hero." Iida said.
"I can see why. I remember Ingenium being one of the better heroes in Japan. He's a good role model to have." Izuku praised.
"I'm happy you think so. I only hope I can be just as good as him." Iida said.
"Well, I guess the best way to do that is to think like him when you're in a situation." Izuku advised.
Suddenly the intercom came on. "Attention! The practical exam will commence in ten minutes."
"Ah, better do your business quick. I hope to see you make it in..."
"Tenya Iida, sir." He answered.
"Iida. See you around." Izuku said.
Tenya watched the Green Lantern leave, happy someone shared the same opinions as him about his brother.
And here was Iida now, thinking what his brother would do.
Instead of running away, Tenya ran to the girl as fast as he could. When he stopped next to her he saw her leg trapped under concrete.
"Can you help me!?" She pleaded.
"Yes! Let me try and move this off you." He told her.
Tenya went to lift the rubble off her leg, but it was too heavy for him to lift.
"Here, let me help." The girl said.
She pressed five fingers on the stone slab, and it was suddenly weightless in his hands. He threw it away and took her in his arms since her ankle was sprained, and ran away from the approaching giant.
Back up above, All Might approved of the boy. "First person we've seen try and save someone." He said.
"And smart for the girl to help him out faster." Midnight commented.
"Well, it's about time for the test to end this test." Nezu said.
Present Mic's voice was heard over the speakers. "Times up! The practical test is over!"
Back on the ground floor, Iida set the girl on the floor. Just then Recovery Girl came walking in to heal any that were injured.
"That's a nasty sprain, honey. Let me take a look at that." She requested.
As the girl showed her leg, Recovery Girl puckered her lips and gave a kiss to the injury. Almost immediately it went away, but the girl felt more tired than before.
"That's amazing!" She said.
"You there, boy. Are you hurt?" Recovery Girl asked.
"Ah, no mam." Iida answered.
"Then get going you two. I have other children to look at." She said leaving.
Iida helped the girl up from the ground. "Hey uh, thanks for saving me back there." She said.
"I was just doing what my brother would have done. I'm Tenya Iida." He introduced.
"I'm Ochaco Uraraka." She told him.
"I have to ask, is your quirk gravity-based?" Iida asked.
"It is! When I touch an object with all five fingers, it becomes weightless as if it were space." She explained.
"Well Uraraka, I hope we both make it in." He said.
"Me too. Hope I'll see you then." She bid farewell.
The two left each other to go their separate ways, as the day was now over. Elsewhere, a paramonian had a sick feeling someone did better than him. He shrugged it off however, confident he got in.
And the Green Lantern, he was watching Iida save the girl in a recording again and again. He had a good feeling he'd be seeing him around after all.
