Chapter 13: Dinosaurs, Dragons, and Divas, Part 1

In the Island Area, Rex Raptor fled after seeing Playmaker humiliate Weevil in the first duel of the Tournament of Time. But he did not get far when he ran into Zane Truesdale.

"I've been wanting to get my hands on you for a long time." Raptor said.

"If it's a duel with me you want, I'll happily grant your wish." Zane smirked.

"Be careful, Rex. He's got a bit of a reputation." Weevil warned Rex.

"Ah, he's all talk." Rex smirked as his Duel Disk booted up.

"We'll see if I'm all talk." Zane's Duel Disk powers on. Another duel is about to start, and two words are uttered to show who will prevail.

"Let's Duel!"

Zane Truesdale: 4000 LP

VS

Rex Raptor: 4000 LP

"I'll start us off." Rex sees his hand.

Turn 1: Rex Raptor (4000)

"I play Gilasaurus!" A brown dinosaur with red eyes emerges with a roar. (Level 3/ATK: 1400/DEF: 400)

"You're a Dinosaur duelist, I see."

"That's right, and whenever I have Gilasaurus in my hand, I can summon it right away. And guess what? I have two!" An identical dinosaur emerges alongside it.

"But they won't be sticking around, at least not for much longer. I tribute both Gilasauruses so that I can summon the mighty Black Tyranno!" Both dinosaurs disappear and in their place is a gigantic, black-scaled Tyrannosaurus Rex. It emerges with an earsplitting roar. (Level 7/ATK: 2600/DEF: 1800)

Weevil chuckled. "Now that's a move worthy of a Regional Championship finalist."

"I aim to please. Now let's see what you can do." Rex challenged Zane, signaling the end of his turn.

Turn 2: Zane Truesdale (4000)

"It'd be my pleasure." Zane draws his card. He sees that he drew Cyber Dragon. He sees two more Cyber Dragons, along with Evolution Burst, Damage Polarizer, and his most powerful Spell card: Power Bond. "Your Black Tyranno is powerful, but I'm afraid I have something far stronger."

"What are you saying?" Rex asked.

"I'm saying that I'm about to blast your dinosaur back into the prehistoric times, and it starts with this!" Zane declares as he reveals Power Bond.

"Power Bond!?"

"That's right! With this, I can summon a Machine-Type Fusion monster from my Extra Deck!" Zane declared. "I fuse my three Cyber Dragons together and summon my most powerful dragon! I create Cyber End Dragon!" The three metal dragons fuse into a three-headed mechanical dragon with large wings. (Level 10/ATK: 4000/DEF: 2800)

"That thing is humongous!" Weevil yelped.

"Ha! I'm not scared of that scrap pile!" Rex smirked.

"You should be scared. Due to Power Bond's effect, Cyber End Dragon's attack strength doubles!" Cyber End Dragon lets out a mighty roar as its ATK doubles to 8000.

"8000 Attack Points!?" Rex yelped in horror.

"That's right, and he's going to put them all to good use!" Zane declares his attack. "Cyber End Dragon, attack! Fossilize his Tyranno with Super Strident Blaze!" The three heads of Cyber End fire a powerful blast from their maws and swirl together. The beam envelops Black Tyranno and evaporate it. Rex screams in total pain and fell to the grassy ground, knocking the Link Crystal out of Rex's Link Glove. (Rex Raptor: 4000→0 LP)

"And you call yourself a Regional Finalist. Hah!" Zane laughed as he picked up the dropped Link Crystal. "A word of advice: never pick fights you know you can't win." He gives them time to reflect that as he walks away.

"I can't believe we got beat that easily! Again!" Rex complained.

"At least I managed to fight back." Weevil noted.

"Yet, your duel ended the same way mine did."

"A real shame." They hear a sinister voice behind him. They see a muscular man in a soldier's uniform with a few medals on his lapel.

"Who are you?"

"I'm a friend of the tournament's host." The strange man said. "He sent me to retrieve you."

"What does he want with us?" Rex asked.

"You'll know when you meet him." The stranger told them as he activated a teleporter device on his wrist. The three of them disappear in a flash of blue light.

Somewhere in the Jungle Area, we find Zuzu Boyle walking around for any potential opponents. Rin's spirit appears after a minute.

"I'm feeling a little uneasy right now, Zuzu." Rin spoke.

"Aren't we all? There's something off about this tournament." Zuzu deduced.

"What makes you say that?"

"Why would someone forcefully bring us here just to have us compete in a tournament?"

"That's what we want to know, too." She hears Celina's voice as her spirit appears along with Lulu's.

"I just hope Yuya and the others are okay." Zuzu said.

"Hey, Yuya can take care of himself. Trust me." Celina reassured her other self. Zuzu was doubtful of Celina's words, but her train of thought halted when she bumped into someone. She looks up and sees Hassleberry.

"Uh, sorry." Zuzu apologized to the Ra Yellow duelist.

"No harm." Hassleberry gets up and dusts his blazer. "Hey, you're Zuzu, right?"

"Yeah. And from the look of that blazer, you must be Hassleberry."

"That's me." Hassleberry confirmed. "What brings you out here?"

"I was just looking for any opponents I come across."

"Well, lucky me. I'm doing the same." He answered.

"How many crystals do you have?"

"Three. How about you?" Hassleberry shows three Link Crystals.

"I've got four right now." Zuzu flashes her four Link Crystals.

"Wonderful! At this rate, we'll make the finals in no time!"

"Easier said than done."

They hear a sinister voice. They turn and see Chazz's brothers, Slade and Jagger.

"Who are you!?" Zuzu demands.

"The most powerful brothers in the Princeton Group. I'm Slade and that's Jagger." Slade introduced themselves.

"And I'm supposed to know who that is?" Zuzu asked.

"Chazz's older brothers." Tyranno Hassleberry answers.

"Chazz's older brothers?" Zuzu asked.

"From what Jaden told me, they hired a camera crew to film Chazz's victory in the school duel, but Jaden won that duel and to retaliate, they tried to buy off Duel Academy." Tyranno Hassleberry explains.

"Buy off?"

"That's right. Since Chazz failed, we sought to finish what he couldn't and to do that, we chose to duel Chazz with some special rules." Slade said.

"Special how?" Zuzu asked. She noticed a briefcase in Slade's hand.

"I'm glad you asked, young lady. Inside this briefcase are all the cards I offered to Chazz to use in the School Duel against North Academy, which he never used I might add. I used these very cards against Chazz, who of course was not allowed to use any monster that has more than 500 Attack points."

"500 Attack Points!? That just isn't fair!" Zuzu gasped in shock.

"Fair or not, Kaiba agreed to the terms. But even with a monumental advantage, Chazz used a deck of complete weaklings to beat me!" Slade scowled, reminiscing the humiliating defeat Chazz handed him.

"And we would've succeeded if it weren't for him and that Slifer punk Jaden!" Jagger shouted angrily.

"Jaden? as in Jaden Yuki? The Pro League Champion who Alexis likes? The reincarnation of the Supreme King? The same Jaden who was Duel Academy's top student?" Zuzu asked.

"Yep, that's Jaden for ya, but tell me, how do you know that much about him?" Tyranno Hassleberry asked.

"My Fusion counterpart Celina is a huge fan of him, plus she knows that much about him." Zuzu answered smiling as Celina's ghost appeared in front of Zuzu with a smile.

"You hear that? There's your problem: The only ones that support you are yourselves. But Chazz, he's got friends like us and that is a big difference between you and him." Hassleberry told them.

"Friends? Why on earth would you need friends? The only one you're able to look out for is yourself! And if you don't believe me, then a duel will decide if I'm right or not." Slade smirked.

"Fine by me. But let's make this a Tag Duel. Me and Zuzu against you two." Hassleberry suggests.

"Fair enough. Our billion-dollar decks are unbeatable." Slade pulls out two Duel Disks and both Princeton brothers put one on. "And to make it interesting, both sides will share Life Points, fields, and Graveyards."

"Think you can help me out, Zuzu?" Hassleberry asked as his Duel Disk powers on.

"I'd be happy to." Zuzu agreed as her Duel Disk boots up.

"Before we begin, I'll throw in two crystals." Hassleberry wagers two of his crystals.

"Add three more to that for a total of five." Zuzu added, wagering three of her crystals.

"Five Link Crystals from each side. We'll be happy to win them from you."

"Let's Duel!" All four duelists shout in unison, beginning the Tag Duel.

Tyranno Hassleberry & Zuzu Boyle: 4000 LP

VS

Slade & Jagger Princeton: 4000 LP

"I'll start us off, if you don't mind." Slade starts his turn.

Turn 1: Slade (4000)

"I'll start out strong with the Spell Polymerization! I'll use it to fuse Lord of D. and Divine Dragon Ragnarok! These two monsters will merge and become the almighty ruler of all dragons!" Slade chants as the two monsters swirl into a portal, forming a ball of light. "I Fusion Summon King Dragun!" Emerging from the light is a glimmering golden-scaled dragon with the upper half of Lord of D. fused to its head. Two dragon-like flutes are mounted on his back. (Level 7/ATK: 2400/DEF: 1100)

"A Fusion Summon on the first turn? He doesn't mess around." Hassleberry commented.

"And wait until you see his special ability. Once a turn, he lets me summon another Dragon-Type monster from my hand. Say hello to Luster Dragon #2!" He calls upon another dragon, one with shimmering emerald scales. (Level 6/ATK: 2400/DEF: 1400)

"Two monsters with 2400 Attack Points?!" Zuzu gasped.

"Yep, and don't think you can use any of your cards to stop my Dragun! His special ability protects my dragons from being targeted by effects." Slade informed them. "Now I'll just end my turn. Let's see you find a card that can beat ours."

"If I know Chazz's brothers, they plan to stop us with some kind of combo." Hassleberry warned her.

"Of course, we'll stop you by the time you figure it out." Jagger smirked.

"Like I'll let that happen!" Hassleberry barked as his turn began.

Turn 2: Hassleberry (4000)

"I draw!" Hassleberry draws his card. "I need to think carefully. With that Dragun out, I can't use any of my cards against their Dragons. All I need to do is get rid of it. And I got just the thing."

"I'll start things off by activating Fossil Dig!" Hassleberry activates his Spell card. "This lets me pick a Level 6 or lower Dinosaur in my Deck and add it to my hand. A card slips out of his deck and he places it in his hand.

"Now, I summon Souleating Oviraptor!" He summons a blue-scaled dinosaur with red scales on its limbs, tail, and around its volcano-like head. Blue flames run along its spine. (Level 4/ATK: 1800/DEF: 500)

"And when Souleating Oviraptor is called to the front line, I can pick another Dinosaur in my Deck and place it in either my hand or Graveyard." Another card slips out of his deck. "I choose to send Overtex Qoatlus to the Graveyard!" He places the card in question into his Graveyard.

"You must have rocks in your head! That monster could've destroyed my Dragun!" Slade taunted. "Why on earth would you get rid of it?" He noticed Hassleberry's smirk and then realized his plan. "No!"

"Oh yeah! My Qoatlus has a special ability that activates when it goes to the Graveyard. I get to add an Evolution Pill in my Deck to my hand." He takes another card from his deck and puts it in his hand.

"You may have obtained the cards you're looking for, but it'll take more than a dinosaur to beat my Dragon!"

"Maybe not, but we'll see next time." Hassleberry places two face-down cards to end his turn.

"With what we planned, there may not even be a next time." Slade said before glancing to Jagger, signaling the start of his turn.

Turn 3: Jagger (4000)

"That's right. Observe!" Jagger draws his card. "I activate Silent Doom!"

"Not good! With Silent Doom, he can bring back a monster from their Grave!" Hassleberry sneered.

"And I've got an inkling what he's about to bring back." Zuzu added.

"That's right. Here comes Divine Dragon Ragnarok!" The white scaled dragon with white tufts of fur on its maw appears in a defensive stance. (Level 4/ATK: 1500/DEF: 1000)

"Now, I activate Polymerization! I can now fuse Divine Dragon Ragnarok with Lady of D.!" Jagger uses Polymerization and fuses both cards. "If you think the King of dragons was powerful, just wait until you meet their queen! I Fusion Summon Queen Dragun!" Jagger's new Fusion Monster emerges, being a silver-scaled dragon with Lady of D.'s top half fused to its head. Another dragon-like flute is mounted on her back. (Level 7/ATK: 2500/DEF: 1100)

"Your dragons are powerful, but even they don't stand a chance against our troops." Hassleberry said.

"That's what you think. Our regal dragons are very protective of their kind."

"What makes you say that?" Zuzu asked.

"While King Dragun prevents any Dragon from being targeted by effects…" Slade began.

"Our Queen Dragon protects them from being destroyed by effects." Jagger continued. "And they can't be attacked either."

"So then, we can't do anything to beat you?" Zuzu asked.

"Exactly! But let's keep things going. I summon Luster Dragon." A sapphire-scaled dragon emerges. (Level 4/ATK: 1900/DEF: 1600)

"And King Dragun's ability lets me summon Hyozanryu!" A diamond-scaled dragon appears with a roar. (Level 7/ATK: 2100/DEF: 2800)

"Five Dragons!?" Hassleberry yelped.

"Yep, and they're about to go medival on your Life Points!" Slade and Jagger laughed as their four monsters tower over their one monster. Zuzu looked scared while Hassleberry scowled at the laughing Princeton Brothers.
