Chapter 14: Dinosaurs, Dragons, and Divas, Part 2

Hassleberry and Zuzu have challenged Chazz's older brothers to a Tag duel and the brothers have them overpowered with four powerful dragons on the field, two of which put their adversaries on lock.

Hassleberry & Zuzu Boyle: 4000 LP

Hand: 4 (Hassleberry), 5 (Zuzu)

Field: Souleating Oviraptor (Level 4/1800/500) and 2 face-down cards

Slade & Jagger Princeton: 4000 LP

Hand: 1 (Slade), 1 (Jagger)

Field: King Dragun (Level 7/2400/1100), Queen Dragun (Level 7/2500/1100), Luster Dragon #2 (Level 6/2400/1400), Hyozanryu (Level 7/2100/2800), and Luster Dragon (Level 4/1900/1600)

"I don't believe it. We're up against five dragons." Hassleberry noted.

"That's right, and they are about to blast you back to the Prehistoric Era! Starting with that Oviraptor. King Dragun, attack with Fire Scourge!" Jagger commands King Dragun to attack. He fires flames from his flute, aimed directly at the dinosaur.

"This duel is ours!" Slade smirked.

"I activate my Trap! Survival of the Fittest! I can equip this onto my Dino, giving it 1000 extra Attack Points!" Hassleberry's Trap sprung and boosted his Oviraptor's power. (ATK: 1800→2800)

"No way!" Jagger gasps as Souleating Oviraptor fires a flame blast of its own and overpowers the dragon's destroying it upon impact. The Princeton Brothers reel back from the shock. (LP: 4000→3600)

"You got lucky that time, but rest assured, we will be ready next time!" Jagger said. "Not that there will be a next time, because Queen Dragun has another ability. By tossing a Dragon in my hand to the Graveyard, I can summon another from the Graveyard. Rise again, King Dragun!" King Dragun reemerges with a roar.

"Drat! Just when we thought we got rid of it, we're back to where we started." Hassleberry scowled.

"Just try and break through our offense, little lady, if you can." Jagger said, placing a face-down and passing the turn to Zuzu.

Turn 4: Zuzu (4000)

"We'll see!" Zuzu draws her card and sees some monsters she's familiar with, along with a few new ones and they're Pendulum monsters.

"What are you waiting for?" Slade glared. "Hurry up and play a card, but I must warn you: it won't be long before our monsters obliterate it."

"You want me to make a move?" Zuzu asked. "I got one for you. I set the Pendulum Scale with Scale 1 Harmony the Melodious Orchestratrice and Scale 9 Symphony the Melodious Orchestratrice!" She places the two cards in their respective Pendulum Zones. Harmony, who has short blond hair and green skin wearing a dress with red and white stripes decorated with blue music notes and a large purple ribbon appears in the left and Symphony, sporting long brown hair wearing a blue and white long-sleeve dress adorned with red music notes and diamonds on the sleeves appears in the right. The numbers representing their scales appear below. "Now I can summon monsters from Level 2 through 8 all at the same time."

"What's going on?" Jagger asked in surprise.

"I'll tell you: we're about to win. I Pendulum Summon!" Zuzu calls for a Pendulum Summon. "Taking center stage are Canon the Melodious Diva and Solo the Melodious Songstress!" Zuzu's two monsters appear. The first is Canon, garbed in a stylish purple and black choir uniform with a golden mask on her face. (Level 4/1400/2000)

Her second monster is Solo, who is wearing a short red dress with a shining headdress. (Level 4/1600/1000)

"So that's the power of Pendulum." Slade said.

"I can't wait to buy those off you." Jagger snickered.

"If you think my Pendulum summon was that amazing, you haven't seen anything yet." Zuzu said. "Harmony and Symphony's Pendulum abilities both activate! They gain a Harmony Counter for every Melodious Monster I Special Summon!" Two musical notes on the dresses of both Pendulum Monsters light up.

"That's quite the ensemble. Too bad they're useless to you now." Jagger reminds her.

"As much as I hate to admit it, he's right. Because of King Dragun, I can't use Harmony's abilities against their dragons and Queen Dragun prevents me from attacking them. But who says I have to?"

"You may have blocked us off with your combo, but I have one of my own! Watch as I harmonize my circuit!"

"What did she say?!" Slade gasped as the eight-arrow portal opened above.

"The summoning conditions are 2 Fairy monsters. I set Solo and Canon in the Link Arrows!" The two monsters enter the portal, illuminating the down-left and down-right arrows. "I Link Summon! Link-2 Bloom Harmonist the Melodious Composer!" Her Link Monster wears a cyan and pink dress and has gleaming orange hair. She wields an ornate baton in her hand. (1000/Link-2/↙↘)

"First Pendulum and now a Link Summon? Now I've seen everything." Slade said.

"Sorry, Slade, the show's just starting. I activate Bloom Harmonist's special ability! When she's Link Summoned, by discarding a card, I can pick 2 Melodious monsters in my deck that have different levels and summon them next to her Links in Defense Mode." She declares as Bloom Harmonist waves her baton. Zuzu discards Melodious Illusion. "Now, Aria, Mozarta, take the stage!" Her red-clad monster and a monster in a regal red gown with harp-like wings appear in a defensive stance. (Aria: Level 4/1600/1200; Mozarta: Level 8/2600/2000)

"Summon as many monsters as you want, they can't do a thing,"

"Oh, they can. By special summoning Aria, my monsters can't be the target of your effects, nor can they be destroyed in battle." Zuzu explains. "And don't forget my Harmony and Symphony gain three more Melody Counters!" Three more notes light up on their gowns.

"You took a page from their book, didn't you?" Hassleberry asked.

"I had to think of something to defend ourselves." Zuzu said.

"So what? It won't save you from our assault!" Slade told her.

"Maybe not, but maybe this will. I place a card face-down and end my turn." Zuzu places a face-down to end her turn.

Turn 5: Slade (3600)

"You may as well face it. This duel is ours!" Slade draws his card. "And with this card, we'll be one step closer to total world domination. But hey, first thing's first, time to silence that Composer! King Dragun, attack with Fire Scourge!" A blast of flame is fired from King Dragun's flute.

"Not going to happen! I activate the Trap Lost Voice! When you attack me and I have a Melodious monster out, I can tribute another monster to stop your attack and end the battle!" Zuzu looks to Hassleberry, who gives her an approving nod. "I choose to tribute Souleating Oviraptor to stop the attack!" The dinosaur disappears along with the trap card. A barrier surrounds the Link Monster.

Slade growls. "If you think you can stop us, then you are sorely mistaken! I activate Dragon's Gaze! If I have a Dragon-Type Fusion Monster, any trap used during battle is negated and destroyed! So much for your last hope!"

"Guess again!" Zuzu interrupted them. "When I have a Level 8 or higher Melodious monster out when I use this card, your cards can't affect it in any way!"

"No!" Slade shouts as his trap disappears. The barrier deflects King Dragun's attack. He snarls. "Guess all that's left to do is end my turn with a face-down." A face-down materializes on the brothers' side.

"A face-down? Is that all you can do, Slade?" Jagger asked.

"Relax, bro. They know that as long as Queen Dragun is out, they can't attack, and even if they can, my face-down is Storming Mirror Force, which will send every monster in Attack Mode back to their hand the second they attack." Slade whispers to Jagger.

"Ah, sneaky. That'll be sure to guarantee our victory." Jagger smirked.

"Okay, Dinosaur boy! Let's see what you got!" Slade challenged.

Turn 6: Hassleberry (4000)

"Okay, if I'm to take down his monsters, I need to get rid of Queen Dragun somehow." Hassleberry thinks in his head as he prepares to draw. "If I don't draw the card I need, we're goners."

"Here goes something!" Hassleberry draws his card. He looks at it and sees that it is Double Evolution Pill. "Perfect!"

"I activate the Spell Double Evolution Pill!" Hassleberry activates the Spell he drew. "With this, I can banish a Dinosaur and a non-Dinosaur from my hand or Graveyard and call a Level 7 or higher Dinosaur to the front lines!"

"Hassleberry! My cards are your cards!" Zuzu tells him.

Hassleberry smirks. "I banish Souleating Oviraptor and Canon the Melodious Diva! Now I'm allowed to summon this! Set your binoculars on the apex predator! Here comes Ultimate Conductor Tyranno!" Hassleberry's new monster is a gigantic dinosaur with a black body with red accents, spikes on its head and long tail and glows with a blue aura. (Level 10/3500/3200)

"That thing's humongous!" Jagger yelped.

"So what? It still can't attack!" Slade told him. Hassleberry smirks. "Our Queen Dragun prevents you from attacking our dragons, remember?"

"Your face-up dragons, yeah."

"What?"

"I activate Ultimate Conductor's special ability! By destroying a card in our hand or field, all your face-up monsters are flipped face-down and switch to Defense Mode." Hassleberry reveals a Giant Rex in his hand as it disappears. Ultimate Conductor Tyranno lets out a powerful roar, forcing all five Dragons on Slade and Jagger's field to disappear, and five card backs reappear in their place.

"Great! Now that their monsters are face-down, we're free to attack!" Zuzu cheered.

"Now to get to business. I activate the Spell Dino Sweep! If I have a Level 7 or higher Dinosaur on the front line, then all of your Spell and Trap cards are destroyed!" With a swipe of its long tail, Ultimate Conductor Tyranno swept away both cards, revealed to be Dragon's Rage and Storming Mirror Force.

"No way!" Slade yelped.

"Ultimate Conductor Tyranno! Attack Hyozanryu!" He commands his strongest monster to attack.

"Go ahead and attack. We won't be taking damage because your Dino's ability switched our monsters to Defense Mode."

"That's where you're wrong. My Tyranno has another ability. See, when it attacks a defending monster, that monster automatically retires to the Graveyard and you take 1000 points of damage!"

"Say what!?" Slade yelped in shock. Ultimate Conductor Tyranno bites down on Hyozanryu, obliterating it. The explosion shocks the Princeton brothers. (Slade & Jagger: 3600→2600)

"You may have taken down one dragon, but we still have four more waiting to blast you to extinction!" Jagger said.

"I'm afraid they won't get the chance. Ultimate Conductor can attack all your monsters!"

"Impossible!"

"That's right! And his next target is Luster Dragon #2!" Ultimate Conductor Tyranno lashes its tail onto the emerald-scaled dragon, destroying it. (Slade & Jagger 2600→1600)

"Followed by King Dragun!" The Dinosaur stomps on King Dragun's card. It explodes in a burst of pixels. (Slade & Jagger: 1600→600)

"And last, but certainly not least, dethrone that Queen Dragun! Ultimate Extinction!" In one final attack, Ultimate Conductor Tyranno fires a blast of blue flame from its maw, incinerating Queen Dragun. Both Princeton brothers let out a defeated wail. (Slade & Jagger: 600→0)

All the other monsters disappear.

"Unbelievable! We lost!" Slade hissed.

"You sure did, bro." They hear Chazz's voice. He emerges from the thick trees. "And you know why? It's because you only care about power. You see, strong cards don't make a strong deck. With the right cards and the right strategy, any card can be powerful." Chazz roasted them.

"The things we did were what's best for the group!" Slade countered.

"Really? It felt more like you did what's best for yourselves." Chazz said. Hassleberry and Zuzu collected their crystals. He glances at their Link Gloves, showing that they're empty. "And from the look of your gloves, you've already lost everything."

Slade and Jagger sneer at how Chazz roasted them after they were eliminated. They take off with the briefcase they brought. "Thanks for taking care of those clowns. I'd have taken them down myself, but you saw how powerful they were."

"But we took care of them, didn't we, Zuzu?" Hassleberry asked.

"Yeah. We did." Zuzu replies. "Now I have seven crystals."

"I've got five." Hassleberry said.

Chazz flashes his Link Glove, showing eight Link Crystals.

"Sam Hill! How did you get eight Link Crystals?!" Hassleberry gasps.

"This is a tournament. The whole point was to gather Link Crystals and gain a spot in the finals." Chazz pointed out.

"Then I guess we better catch up, then."

"You do that. I'll keep looking around for Yuya." Zuzu said as she breaks from the group. "I'm a bit worried about him. He and I are childhood friends."

"I better go too. There are a lot of opponents out there." Hassleberry said as he leaves Chazz.

With Zuzu, she looks quite exhausted, and not just from the duel. She looks around for a place to relax. "I need to find a place to rest before I keep searching for Yuya." She looks up and finds a spring ahead. "A spring! Finally!" She runs up towards it and checks the water. It feels warm and relaxing. She kicks off her white boots, revealing her beautiful bare feet. She sits down and when her feet enter the water, she lets out a relaxed sigh.

"Ah, that's more like it." Zuzu said. "Okay, girls, let's rest here a bit before we keep looking for Yuya." Then her counterparts' spirits appear, their beautiful bare feet exposed.

Trap Card

When your opponent declares an attack against a Melodious monster, negate the attack and end the Battle Phase. This Trap cannot be negated if you control a Level 8 or higher Melodious monster.

Dragon's Gaze

Counter Trap Card

Activate only if you control a Dragon-Type Fusion Monster. When your opponent activates a Trap Card during the Battle Phase, negate the activation of the Trap Card and destroy it.

Dino Sweep

Normal Spell Card

If you control a Level 7 or higher Dinosaur monster, destroy all Spell/Trap Cards your opponent controls.
