Chapter 31: Jewels of the Sea, Part 2
Last time on Legends Unite…
Jesse Anderson has been challenged by the Big Five's Gansley. Jesse initially had the upper hand, but Gansley surprised him by using his Skill, Reflector Hole. With the other members of the Big Five searching for opponents to take Link Crystals from, Jesse hopes to finish his duel quickly, so they can get back to finding them.
Around the same time, the Battle of the Kaibas commenced, as Seto went against Gozaburo's new Chessmate deck. Kaiba managed to get his best monsters out, but Gozaburo retaliated with a Synchro Monster: Chessmate Brilliant Queen. Kaiba managed to defend himself, but Gozaburo will not stop until he buries the pain of his past forever.
Now the duels continue. How will Jesse get past Gansley's business-oriented dueling strategy?
Jesse is facing Gansley of the Big Five. Jesse managed to play Crystal Beast Topaz Tiger, but as soon as he attacked, Gansley used his Skill to send the attack right back and damage Jesse.
Jesse: 2600 LP
Gansley: 4000 LP
"Boy, I'll admit. Y'sure got me with that Skill of yours." Jesse said. "Guess this tournament is full of surprises."
"I assure you I have plenty more," Gansley said. "I'll show you them, provided that you're done attacking."
"Oh, I'm done attacking, but my turn's not done yet. I play Crystal Blessing." Jesse played his Spell card. "With it, I can take two Crystal Beasts that're in my Grave and place 'em in my Spell/Trap Zone. I'm choosin' Ruby Carbuncle and Amber Mammoth." A red stone and an orange stone appear on Jesse's field.
"Quite the collection." Gansley commented.
"You ain't seen nothin' yet. I play my Field Spell, Ancient City - Rainbow Ruins!" Jesse activates his Field Spell. The area transforms into a stone colosseum.
"Alright! With Jesse's Field Spell, things are gonna change!" Jaden said.
"Yeah, but Gansley still has two monsters, meaning the next time Jesse attacks, he'll use his Skill to send it back." Soulburner said. "Normally, avatars in Link VRAINS can only use their Skills one time during a Speed Duel, but I betcha Gansley has the same modifiers as Queen and Bohman."
"No worries, I got it all figured out." Jesse said. "He's tryin' to make sure he's got lots of monsters on his field so he can use his Skill. But, once he uses it, he's gotta refill his field again, so it's a bit more like a give-and-take situation."
"Yeah, but with the deck Gansley has, it probably won't be hard for him to do that." Yuya said.
"Well, let's see." Jesse said. "If I can get Gansley to use his Skill again, he won't have enough to block my next attack."
Turn 5: Gansley (4000 LP)
"Easier said than done, Jesse." Gansley said, drawing his next card. The card is revealed as Pot of Greed. "Ah, an excellent investment choice. I think I'll go ahead and activate Pot of Greed, allowing me to draw two cards, increasing my dueling options." Gansley draws two cards, revealed as Abyss-sphere and Mermail Abysslinde.
"Next, I shall activate Deep Sea Aria! By banishing a Water monster from my Graveyard, I can add a Level 4 or lower Sea Serpent from my deck to my hand." Gansley said.
Banishing Abyssdine, he chose to add Atlantean Attack Squad to his hand.
"Perfect. I summon Atlantean Attack Squad in attack position!" Gansley said, summoning the sword-brandishing fish monster.
Atlantean Attack Squad (Level 3/ATK: 1400/DEF: 0)
"And since I have another Fish, Sea Serpent, or Aqua-type monster out on the field other than itself, my Attack Squad Gains 800 extra Attack points." Gansley pointed out.
Attack Squad: ATK: 1400 → 2200
"And now, since I have Atlantean Dragoons on my field, my Attack Squad can strike you directly! Prepare yourself!" Gansley said as his monster charged. It dealt a slash attack to Jesse.
Jesse: 2600 → 1500 LP
"Jesse!" Jaden yelled.
"I'm okay, Jay." Jesse said.
"Hmmm…I'd thought you'd take more damage than that." Gansley observed.
"It's all thanks to m' Field Spell. Since I've got at least 2 Crystal Beasts in my Spell/Trap Zone, I can reduce any battle damage by half."
"True, but that effect only works once each turn." Gansley said. "Meaning that I can still attack your Topaz Tiger with Atlantean Dragoons!" He commands his Atlantean Dragoons to attack Topaz. Their spears pierce into Topaz, destroying him.
Jesse: 1500 → 1300 LP
"Luckily, Topaz Tiger becomes a crystal." Jesse said as a yellow crystal appeared in Jesse's Spell/Trap Zone. "And since he did, I can use Crystal Boon's second effect. By banishing it from the Graveyard, I can check the top card of m' deck and if it happens to be a Crystal Beast, then I can either add it to my hand or summon it. Anything else goes to the Grave."
"A very bold move, Mr. Anderson. Let's see if you made the right choice." Gansley said. The air becomes tense as Jesse draws his card in slow motion. The card is soon revealed as… Crystal Beast Amethyst Cat.
"Yes! I've drawn Crystal Beast Amethyst Cat!" Jesse said happily. Gansley growls in frustration. "I'll keep her in my hand for now."
"Awesome! Now all Jesse has to do is gather them together and he'll be able to summon his most powerful monster: Rainbow Dragon!" Jaden said.
"I'd better be ready for when that monstrosity appears." Gansley thought. "I place one card face down, and switch Abyssteus to Defense. That ends my turn."
Turn 6: Jesse (1300 LP)
"I'm up now. I draw!" Jesse draws Crystal Keeper.
"Crystal Keeper. I think I heard about cards like these." Jesse thought. "I believe they're called Pendulum Monsters. Though they are still technically monsters, Pendulum Monsters can act as Spell cards as well. If I can draw another one, I might be able to pull it off."
"I'll start by using Rainbow Ruins' effect. Since I have 4 Crystal Beasts in my Spell/Trap Zone, I can draw one more card." Jesse said as he draws another card from his deck. He sees the card to be Crystal Master.
"Hey, Gansley! Yer not the only one who's made a business investment." Jesse said.
"Explain yourself, boy." Gansley glared.
"You heard from Yuya that I got some new cards for m' deck, right?" Jesse asked. "Well, it's about time I showed you a new trick o' mine." He revealed Crystal Keeper and Crystal Master. "I set the Pendulum Scale with Scale 2 Crystal Keeper and Scale 5 Crystal Master!" Jesse plays the two Pendulum Cards in his Pendulum Zones. A swordsman in white and gold armor and a magician with long cyan hair in dark gray clothes wielding a large bronze staff appeared in the Pendulum Zones.
"Now I can summon monsters between Level 3 and 4, at the same time!" Jesse said.
"Jesse's got Pendulum cards?!" Yuya gasped in surprise.
"So even the Crystal Beasts can pull it off!" Jaden said in amazement.
"You bet they can! I Pendulum Summon!" Jesse said as he Pendulum Summons his monsters.
"Take to the skies, Crystal Beast Cobalt Eagle!" Cobalt Eagle is the first to arrive.
"Sharpen your claws, Crystal Beast Amethyst Cat!" Amethyst Cat arrives next.
"And finally, my favorite steed! Crystal Beast Sapphire Pegasus!" Sapphire Pegasus whinnies as it appears.
Cobalt Eagle (Level 4/ATK: 1400/DEF: 800)
Amethyst Cat (Level 3/ATK: 1200/DEF: 400)
Sapphire Pegasus (Level 4/ATK: 1800/DEF: 1200)
"Took you long enough to call us out." Amethyst Cat said. "I can't wait to sink my claws into someone."
"This pendulum summoning is something else!" Cobalt Eagle said. "We got on the field so fast!"
"And now that we're all here, there's only one thing left to do, isn't that right, Jesse?" Sapphire Pegasus asked.
"Sure is, but I don't have it in m' hand right now, so you'll have to wait patiently." Jesse said. "For now, how's about I demonstrate Amethyst's ability?"
"By taking Amethyst's ATK points and splitting 'em in half, Jesse's allowed to wage a direct attack with her." Jaden explained to Yuya and Soulbuner.
"She what?!" Gansley gasped.
"And since Amethyst is attacking directly, Gansley can't use his Reflector Hole to stop it!" Soulburner said.
"HIs Skill only works if I attack his monsters. But if I jump over em? No problem! Do your stuff, Amethyst!" Jesse called for Amethyst to activate her ability.
Amethyst Cat ATK: 1200 → 600
"Amethyst Power Pounce!" Jesse called for his attack as Amethyst Cat clawed at Gansley.
Gansley: 4000 → 3400 LP
"Hmph, that is only a mere 600 points. But the fact of the matter is, you cannot initiate more attacks because none of your other monsters can destroy my Abyssteus," Gansley said.
"He's right. And even if I attacked any of his other two monsters, he'll just bounce it back using his Skill, and when that happens, I'll lose." Jesse thought. "Lucky for me I still got one more trick up my sleeve."
"I play the Spell Crystal Promise. It lets me summon a Crystal Beast from within its crystal." Jesse said. "Come on out, Amber Mammoth!" Amber Mammoth emerges from its crystal form.
Amber Mammoth: (Level 4/ATK: 1700/DEF: 1600)
"Ready for me to stomp 'em good, Jesse?" Amber Mammoth asked.
"Not just yet, Amber. You'll have to wait a moment." Jesse said. "I'm done for now."
"He's playing smart." Soulburner commented.
"I should say so. He's dangerously low on Life Points." Yuya pointed out.
"What Jesse needs right now is to get Rainbow Dragon in his hand. And I think Amber Mammoth and Jesse's Pendulum Monsters may help him out while he buys time." Jaden said.
Turn 7: Gansley (3400 LP)
"Please, with his Life Points falling faster than the 1929 Stock Market, there will be no chance of him ever getting his best card," Gansley said, taking his Draw Phase. Card of Sanctity is the card he drew.
"In the meantime, I'll use this: Card of Sanctity!" Gansley said, activating his spell. "Now we're both allowed to draw until we have six new cards." Gansley draws three cards while Jesse draws six cards. Of the cards he drew, one was Poseidra, the Atlantean Dragon.
"Perfect. Just what I need to claim the victory. I'll save this for when he's all out of options." Gansley thought.
"It's been fun, Jesse, but all good things must come to an end. Atlantean Attack Squad, attack Jesse's Life Points now!" Gansley commanded his monster to attack directly.
"Sorry, but we're not done yet!" Jesse said as he discarded a card from his hand. A rainbow suddenly appears in front of Jesse, intercepting the attack.
"What?!" Gansley gasped.
"How did Jesse escape that much damage?" Soulburner asked.
"It's very simple, Soulburner: I simply activated a Trap called Rainbow Arc." Jesse said.
"Rainbow Arc? I never saw a card like that on your field." Gansley said.
"Whoever said it had to be on m' field to activate?" Jesse asked.
"Okay, we're a little lost here, Jess." Jaden said. "What does this Trap do?"
"Allow me to clarify." Jesse began.
(Flashback - Earlier)
The duel flashes back to when Gansley's Atlantean Attack Squad raises its sword and is about to strike Jesse. The latter responds by discarding a Trap card that depicted Rainbow Dragon using its wings to conjure a protective rainbow and save a duelist from a thunderstorm.
"Whenever I'm about to take any battle damage, I can toss Rainbow Arc to the grave and lower that damage to 0." Jesse explained.
(End Flashback)
"Awesome! Does it bring Rainbow Dragon into your hand too?" Jaden asked.
"Unfortunately, no. But we'll cross that bridge later." Jesse chuckled.
"You'll pay dearly for that!" Gansley growled. "Atlantean Dragoons, attack his Amethyst Cat!"
"If that connects, Jesse will run out of life points!" Yuya said.
"Not quite!" Jaden corrected. They suddenly see Amber Mammoth intercept the attack, being destroyed in Amethyst Cat's place.
Jesse: 1300 → 1200 LP
"When Amber Mammoth is on m' field, he can take any attack that's meant for another monster." Jesse explained. Amber Mammoth then reappears in its crystal form. "Sorry, but it looks like you're runnin' outta attacks t'do."
"Perhaps, but I still have some moves waiting for you." Gansley said. "For now, I'll place this face-down and end my turn." Gansley ends his turn with a face-down card.
Turn 8: Jesse (1200 LP)
"Alrighty, it's my go now." Jesse said as he readies to draw his card.
"If I don't get Rainbow Dragon on this turn, m' chances of being in the finals with Jay will never be a reality." Jesse thought.
"Here I come, Gansley!" Jesse draws his card. He checks the card, revealed as… Rainbow Dragon. Jesse smiled when he saw the card.
"I should thank you, Gansley." Jesse said.
"For what?" Gansley asked.
"If it weren't for you playin' Card of Sanctity on your last turn, drawing this would take forever." Jesse clarified.
"What are you talking about?" Gansley pressed further. The idea suddenly hit him. 'No! Don't tell me you drew the card you were looking for?!"
"Sure did, and he's about to make his grand entrance!" Jesse said. "When all 7 Crystal Beasts are gathered on m' field or in my Grave, the greatest light in history resurrects!"
"Alright!" Jaden said, knowing what comes next as all the Crystal Beasts' energy merged into one.
"I can't believe it, we're gonna see one of the most legendary cards in duel monsters history!" Yuya said to Soulburner in excitement.
"I heard about how amazing Rainbow Dragon is, but this'll be the first time I'm about to see it in action." Soulburner commented.
"Ready, Gansley?" Jesse said to his opponent. "It's time for you to meet the all-powerful… Rainbow Dragon!"
And at that, in a flash of light, the white serpentine Dragon with crystals in all colors of the rainbow on its body with angelic wings appeared with a mighty roar.
Rainbow Dragon (Level 10/ATK: 4000/DEF: 0)
"This complicates things…" Gansley said.
"More than y'think, pal. Now that he's on the field, I'm about to make your takeover crash and burn!" Jesse said. "But first, I think I'll get some of my Life Points back. I play Mystic Wok! By givin' one o' my monsters the heave-ho, I gain Life Points equal to either their ATK or DEF. Why don't you get some rest, Emerald?"
"You sure about this, Jesse?" Emerald Tortoise asked him.
"Yeah. I promise we'll win." Jesse said before Emerald Tortoise disappears. "Now I gain Life Points equal to Emerald's DEF."
Jesse: 1200 → 3200 LP
"Now, on th' turn Rainbow Dragon is summoned, he can't use any of' his abilities, but that don't mean he can't attack! So he'll go ahead and lay the hurt on!"
"Jesse, wait! If you do that, Gansley will just activate his Skill again!" Jaden warned.
"That's right, I almost forgot. If I attack with Rainbow Dragon, my attack will just be sent back at me. Of course, in order to use his Skill, Gansley will have to sacrifice two of his monsters first, which will weaken his defense." Jesse thought. "I know it's a long shot, but what other choice do I have?"
"Before I go on th' offensive, I'm gonna play M Force!" Jesse said. "This pumps up Sapphire Pegasus' ATK by 500!" Sapphire Pegasus neighs loudly as it powers up.
Sapphire Pegasus: 1800 → 2300
"Then, I'm gonna play Rainbow Arc's second effect. If I happen to have 3 or more Crystal Beasts in m' Spell and Trap Zone, I can play a Trap from my hand once a turn."
"From your hand?!" Gansley gasped in shock.
"Yep. And the card I'm playin' is Crystal Raigeki!" Jesse reveals the Trap in his hand. "By sending one of m' pals in my Spell and Trap Zone to the Grave, I can zap one of your cards, like your Atlantean Attack Squad!" A bolt of lightning shoots from the topaz and zaps the fish warrior, destroying it. The topaz then disappears.
"Alright, now's the time to strike!" Sapphire Pegasus said.
"You took those words right outta my mouth!" Jesse said. "Sapphire Pegasus, take out his Abysspike!" Sapphire Pegasus charged right at the sword-wielding fish warrior.
"Looks like you're more foolish than I first thought!" Gansley said. "For now, I'll sacrifice Atlantean Dragoons and Abyssteus! In order to activate my Skill!" Atlantean Dragoons and Abyssteus disappear and another black hole appears.
"Here it comes again!" Soulburner said.
"Reflector Hole, counter attack!" Gansley said as Sapphire Pegasus is sucked inside. Another black hole opens in front of Jesse and it spits out Sapphire Pegasus back at him. Jesse recoils from the pain.
Jesse: 3200 → 900 LP
"That makes two direct hits, Jesse. Three strikes, and you're out!" Gansley said. "Then you can take a nice long nap. Surprised by how this duel feels?"
Jesse began to recover from the attack. "At least you only got one monster left." Jesse said. When his vision returned, he noticed that instead of only one monster, he had two, one of them is a girl with long orange hair in a single braid and a white eel tail. She is Mermail Abysshilde.
Mermail Abysshilde (Level 3/ATK: 1300/DEF: 400)
"I think you'd better count again, Jesse!" Gansley said.
"What?!" Jesse gasped. "How in the hay could you have two monsters left?"
"Easy. While you were recovering from the direct attack to your Life Points, I seized the opportunity to strengthen my team!" Gansley explained. "I feel it's best to get ahead when your rival is down! So I activated my Trap Abyss-sphere, allowing me to summon Mermail Abysshilde from my deck."
"Ya had that move planned from the beginning, didn't you?" Jesse asked.
"Of course I did." Gansley said. "Now, allow me to introduce you to my newest employee! Meet Mermail Abysshilde! 'What are her strengths,' you ask? Well, if for any reason she is sent to the Graveyard, I can summon another Mermail from my hand, apart from herself, of course. So, you may want to resign now, Jesse!" Gansley then laughs.
"Oh, man! What is Jesse gonna do?!" Jaden said.
"What can he do? Now that he has two monsters again, Jesse can't attack." Soulburner pointed out. "Cause if he does, he'll just use his Skill to sacrifice them and activate Reflector Hole, causing his attack to backfire! And that's a mistake he can't afford to make again!"
"He's right. With only 900 Life Points, one wrong move and Jesse will lose the duel and his place in the finals to Gansley!" Yuya agreed.
"Well, you gave it your best shot, my young friend, but in the end, big business always wins." Gansley said. "I may be an avatar, but I've been patient in escaping my virtual prison long enough, and winning this tournament is my ticket out!"
"It's not over, Gansley! So don't make your travel plans yet." Jesse said.
Gansley chuckled. "Keep your false hope… You'll be that much more disappointed when you plunge into defeat. You and your Crystal Beasts were doomed from the start."
"You can taunt me all you want, Gansley. I'll never give up hope!" Jesse said. "I believe in my deck."
"And I believe in my skills!" Gansley said. "I was insightful enough to assemble an unstoppable arsenal of monsters - not that it really matters at this point anyway. I've rendered you so weak you'll be out of Life Points before my next turn, bringing me one step closer to finally returning to civilization… while you and your friends are scattered throughout the planet!"
"If you've had enough suffering, feel free to give up." Gansley said.
"In your dreams, Gansley." Jesse said.
"Fine. You're only 900 Life Points away from annihilation, anyway." Gansley said.
"I've gone through worse." Jesse countered. "Cobalt, Amethyst, time to switch to Defense." Cobalt Eagle and Amethyst Cat switch into a defensive stance. "Now I place these two face-down. You have the floor now."
Sapphire Pegasus: 2300 → 1800 ATK
"Not just yet," Gansley said. "First, some good news. Since I played the Trap Abyss-sphere, it's destroyed at the end of your turn, which means that Abysshilde is also destroyed." The water bubble surrounding Abysshilde bursts, destroying her.
"That means Gansley's down to one monster, right?" Jaden asked.
"Not for long. Remember, when Abysshilde goes to the Graveyard, her ability lets Gansley summon a different Mermail from his hand." Yuya said.
"You are indeed correct, Yuya Sakaki," Gansley said. "And I think the one I will choose is Mermail Abyssmegalo!" He then calls forth a red fish warrior that resembles a megalodon.
Mermail Abyssmegalo (Level 7/ATK: 2400/DEF: 1900)
"He looks ferocious." Soulburner said.
"Nothin' Jesse can't take down." Jaden said.
Turn 9: Gansley (3400 LP)
"Not if I have anything to say about it." Gansley said, drawing a card from his deck. The card is revealed as Lemuria, the Forgotten City. "Ah, this'll do nicely. I'll begin by activating Monster Reborn! And I'll use it to revive my trusted defender, Mermail Abyssteus." The Dunkleosteus returns.
Mermail Abyssteus (Level 7/ATK: 1700/DEF: 2400)
"My first order of business is to rid the field of that infernal Rainbow Dragon, and now that I have the required means of doing so… Here comes your demise, Mr. Anderson! I overlay Level 7 Mermail Abyssteus and Abyssmegalo to build the Overlay Network!" Gansley said as his two Mermails were overlaid and went into the portal to Xyz Summon. "I Xyz Summon! Rank 7, Mermail Abyssgaios!" The Xyz Monster is a merman with a gold trident and an Atlantean dragon's tail. His lower half looked very similar to Poseidra.
Mermail Abyssgaios (Rank 7/ATK: 2800/DEF: 1600)
"This monster is my greatest investment! While it has Overlay Units, monsters Level 5 and above cannot attack during the Battle Phase, which means your Level 10 Rainbow Dragon won't be able to do a thing!"
"That's not fair!" Yuya scowled. "Rainbow Dragon has always been his ace in the hole! How will he win without it?!"
"That's the thing. He won't!" Gansley laughed. "I know he's not powerful enough to take down your dragon, but he can take down your Pegasus and wash away the last of your Life Points in the process."
"Well, I'll just keep you at bay then. I activate my Trap card Crystal Fortress!" Jesse reveals his Trap card. A crystal wall formed by a sapphire, cobalt, and amethyst appears around Jesse's monsters.
"Not Crystal Fortress!" Gansley gasped.
"That's right. With this Trap card, each of the Crystal Beasts I have out count as 1000 ATK. When combined together, any monster with that many ATK or fewer can't attack." Jesse explained.
"That means with three Beasts out, his Abyssgaios can't wage an attack!" Soulburner said.
"Wrong again! I play the Equip Spell Abyss-Scale of the Mizuchi!" Gansley plays his Equip Spell. "This set of scale armor grants my Abyssgaios 800 Attack Points, making him strong enough to send his fury your way. You came close to putting an end to my monster. Too bad you and your Crystals came up short. Looks like your Crystal Fortress is about to be conquered!" A set of silver armor adorns Abyssgaios.
Mermail Abyssgaios 2800 → 3600 ATK
The crystal wall disappears. "Not good!"
"Jesse!" Jaden said.
"If this hits, it's all over!" Soulburner said.
"I'd say it's been fun, Mr. Anderson, but it hasn't. Mermail Abyssgaios, destroy his Sapphire Pegasus and the last of his Life Points! " Gansley commanded his monster to attack. Abyssgaios charged his trident with lightning and fired it at Sapphire Pegasus.
"Jesse!" Sapphire Pegasus said.
"I got ya, pal! I play Crystal Brilliance!" Jesse reveals another Trap Card. "This gives all my Crystal Beasts a boost by addin' their Defense Points to their Attack Points!" The card glows with rainbow energy and energizes the Crystal Beasts.
Sapphire Pegasus: 1800 → 3000 ATK
Cobalt Eagle: 1400 → 2200 ATK
Amethyst Cat: 1200 → 1600 ATK
The attack lands and Sapphire Pegasus is destroyed. He transforms into a crystal.
Jesse: 900 → 600 LP
"Phew, close one! Y'nearly had me there!" Jesse said.
"I assure you my next turn will be the last one." Gansley said.
Turn 10: Jesse (600 LP)
"We'll see about that, Gansley." Jesse said as he drew a card from his deck. The card is revealed as Omega Judgment.
"Omega Judgment. This lets me destroy one monster on my Spell and Trap Zone along two of my opponent's cards." Jesse thought.
"What's wrong? Have you given up already?" Gansley taunted. Jesse smirked.
"Not really. I'm just amazed that you almost had me." Jesse said. "But now, this duel is over."
"What are you on about? You only have 600 Life Points and only one card in your hand. How do you plan on beating me?" Gansley said.
"Like m' pal Jay always said: A duel isn't over until the last card is played." Jesse said. "And one card can change the outcome. Like so!" He reveals the Omega Judgment card in his hand.
"Omega Judgment?!" Gansley gasped.
"That's right, and thanks to the Rainbow Arc in m' Grave, I can play this card from my hand since I've got three Crystal Beasts in the Spell and Trap Zone!" Jesse said. "With the power of Omega Judgment, I can use one o' my monsters in the Spell and Trap Zone to blast two of your cards. Ruby, take out his two monsters!"
Ruby Carbuncle's spirit appears from the red jewel and it creates a flash of red lightning from its tail. The lightning destroys Abysspike and Abyssgaios.
"NO!" Gansley yelled in complete horror.
"All right!" Yuya cheered. "Now that Abyssgaios is gone, Rainbow Dragon's free to attack!"
"And since those were his only two monsters, Gansley can't use his Skill to stop it!" Soulburner said.
"Impossible! I've analyzed every aspect of this duel." Gansley said.
"Well, I'm afraid to say that you've missed this one." Jesse said. "Rainbow Dragon, take out his Life Points!" The seven crystals on Rainbow Dragon start glowing and energy starts forming in its maw.
"No! This can't be!" Gansley yelled. "Without any monsters, I can't use my Skill!"
"Yes, I know. And Amethyst Cat helped me figure out your weakness." Jesse said. "Prepare to be crushed by the competition. Rainbow Dragon, take him out! Rainbow Refraction!" Rainbow Dragon fires a blast of energy at Gansley, completely enveloping him in rainbow energy.
"You little punk! I can't be defeated by rainbows again!" Gansley said.

Gansley screamed as his avatar vanished. "It's all over, at least for now." Jesse sighed as the area returned to normal.
"Jesse! You did it!" Jaden cheered.
"Was there ever any doubt?" Jesse asked with a smile.
"I'm amazed that you were able to beat a member of the Big Five." Yuya said.
"Eh, he wasn't that powerful." Jesse said. "It's how he adapted to his new deck that surprised me."
"Speaking of surprises, we better be ready for any more that may come our way." Soulburner said.
"You're right." Jaden said.
"I heard that you're lookin' for some of your friends." Jesse said as he picked up the three Link Crystals Gansley's avatar left behind. "Well, now that I'm in the finals, I wanna help."
"Thanks, Jesse." Jaden smiled. "The others are looking for anyone else that came to this tournament and adding them to the resistance."
"I just hope the rest of the Big Five haven't found them first." Yuya said.
"Then we better move quickly." Soulburner said. "Yuya, you meet up with Yugi and Zuzu. Jesse, you go with Jaden to back up Aster and Yusei. I'll join Crow, Axel, and Tea." The four of them head in different directions to assist their friends.
