"I can't believe you did all this." I comment, looking around the quiet store once I've found my voice again. I've never had someone do something like this for me, and I'm still in shock.
Edward smiles, taking my hand. "I'd do anything for you."
Standing here in the dim light of the store with him looking at me the way he is, I know I'm in love. I don't know how it happened so fast, but I know it's the truth.
"Come," he tugs my hand, leading me to the stairs in the corner. "We don't want dinner to get cold."
When we make it up the stairs, there's a small table covered in a tablecloth, a candle in the center. There are two plates with scallops, asparagus, and risotto from my favorite restaurant, along with a bottle of white wine. He's thought of everything. When he said that he was going to romance me, I didn't expect anything like this. In a matter of moments, he swept me off my feet. I didn't know he was such a romantic.
"Edward." I say when he pulls my chair out for me. God, I was down bad for this man. I was overwhelmed.
"I got you, Bella." He says, taking my hand and placing a kiss on my knuckles. "Just be here with me."
His words ground in the way I need to be as I take the seat he offers me.
The food is impeccable as always, and I try not to think about how much all of this must have cost him. He'd never tell me even if I asked. We talk about everything and nothing as we eat, the wine flowing, maybe a little too easily. All I know is that Edward is so much more than I even really knew. And I couldn't wait to discover all the other layers to him.
After the meal is finished, and most of the bottle of wine consumed, we take to perusing the aisles. I'm reading the back of a historical romance novel when I look up to find him looking at me, a soft look on his face. He's leaning against the bookcase with his arms crossed, just looking at me like I'm some captivating creature he can't believe is real.
"What?" I asked, a little self-conscious under his scrutiny.
"Nothing," he shakes his head. "I'm just enjoying you."
"Yes." I say out the blue, making his expression turn to one of confusion.
"Yes, what?" His brow is furrowed and it's the most adorable thing I've ever seen.
Wow, I have it bad.
"Yes, I'll be your girlfriend." I put the book on the shelf, not bothering to put it back in line with the rest, I'm too focused on the man in front of me to care about anything else.
He walks over to me, taking my face in his hands so softly, like he's afraid I might break. "You're really mine?"
I look into those emerald eyes of his, getting lost in them like the heroines in all those books I've read. "As long as your mine."
The smile he gives me is blinding. He kisses me, taking my breath away, which he seems to do all too well.
"Don't think I've forgotten." I whisper seductively when we part.
"What?" his hands grip my waist tightly.
"That you said the next time you'd make me come was when I was your girlfriend."
His eyes become an impossibly darker green. "I did say that didn't I?"
He's using that tone, the one that makes my toes curl.
"I think it's time you make good on that promise, Mr. Cullen."
See you tomorrow!
