{"You do realize I could have been your distraction, right?"}
It's been two months, I'm now three months and two weeks pregnant. After a few tests, Theta was able to find out when our little one was produced. It was the trip where we lost Mickey, the other world. He had gotten sad again after finding out, thinking about the loss of our friends but eventually he perked up again. I knew this was hard on him, he had such a kind and gentle heart so no matter if someone was evil he still cared.
We had gone on a few trips since then but not very many seeming as Theta was being over protective.
I smiled gently watching him hum to his music as he painted the room, it was a beautiful dark blue starry night. Theta had decided he wanted to do something productive to move on, making a decision to decorate the baby room. Suddenly the Tardis shook causing us both to grip the wall, he turned to me with wide eyes as I shrugged back. It seemed like the Tardis wanted to go somewhere.
——
The Doctor walks up to Martha, "Like so." He takes off his tie, "See?" And walks away again. Martha arrives at the Royal Hope Hospital, and a man in full motorcycle gear barges past her. "Oi! Watch, it mate." The figure turns to stare at Martha, then walks on. Inside, at her locker, Martha puts on a white coat, then gets an electric shock from the door.
——
We ended up in a hospital, a warning from the Tardis to be here. She wouldn't explain why but she needed us to be here.
Stoker leads his students from the Breast Screening Unit to the Orthopedic Dept, past the lifts. Two figures in full motorcycle leathers get out. In reality, they would never have been allowed in the hospital without taking off their helmets. Stoker pushes back the curtain around a bed, "Now then, Mister Smith, a very good morning to you. How are you today?" He raised an eyebrow, "Oh, not so bad. Still a bit, you know, blah." I chuckled as he looked up at me with a smile. He seemed in better spirits today making me happy as well.
"John Smith, admitted yesterday with severe abdominal pains. His wife has been here with him. Jones, why don't you see what you can find? Amaze me." The older man turned to the young dark skinned women who smiled stiffly, moving around the bed to get to Theta. "That wasn't very clever, running around outside, was it?" She asked leaning down to listen to his hearts. I turned to look at him, "Did you leave while I was in the bathroom? I told you to stay put." He frowned an shook his head at me before looking up at her, "Sorry?" He asked confused.
"On Chancellor Street this morning? You came up to me and took your tie off." I cleared my throat and raised an eyebrow, his eyes widened as he looked at me before looking back to her. "Really? What did I do that for?" He asked her causing her to smile back. "I don't know, you just did." She shrugged, "Not me. I was here, in bed. Ask the nurses. Ask my Kate." He winked at me causing me to smile gently an run a hand through his hair. "Well, that's weird, cause it looked like you. Have you got a brother?"
"No, not any more. Just me."
"As time passes and I grow ever more infirm and weary, Miss Jones."
"Sorry. Right." Martha listens to his chest, and hears the two heartbeats. He winks at her, "I weep for future generations. Are you having trouble locating the heart, Miss Jones?" I glared at the old man, he didn't have to be so damn rude. "Er, I don't know. Stomach cramps?" Martha guessed with a wince. "That is a symptom, not a diagnosis. And you rather failed basic techniques by not consulting first with the patient's chart." Stoker gets an electric shock from the metal clip. "That happened to me this morning." Martha gapped as she pointed, "I had the same thing on the door handle."
"And me, on the lift."
"That's only to be expected. There's a thunderstorm moving in and lightning is a form of static electricity, as was first proven by. Anyone?"
"Benjamin Franklin." I stated with a fond smile at the memory, "Correct." The older man nodded, "My mate, Ben. That was a day and a half. I got rope burns off that kite, and then I got soaked.." I rolled my eyes as he continued on.
"Quite." The old man frowned with suspicious glare, "And then I got electrocuted." I chuckled at him with a shake of my head, I remember because he wouldn't let me anywhere near afterwards because he was afraid he would shock me. "Moving on. I think perhaps a visit from psychiatric. And next we have-" Martha and I exchange grins as she moves away. Theta looks up at me with a grin of his own as he watched silently, "What?" I ask with a laugh as I sit down on the bed. Leaning back against him, his arms pull me tight against his chest, "Oh I just think you are gorgeous." I blushed and shook my head with a small laugh.
"Your delusional, maybe you should get your head checked." I teased.
—
"Yeah, but listen I'll tell you what we'll do." She sees us walking past, Theta wearing a dressing gown as I shot her a wink. "You ready for this?" Theta asked as I put him back into the bed causing me to nod back. "Yeah, I just get a little fuzzy when I'm being shook around." He chuckled and gave my hand a kiss, "What would I do without you?" He muttered looking me in the eyes causing me to sit down next to him and give him a gentle kiss. "Probably crash and burn." I uttered out as the place began to shake.
There's a big thunder roll and lightning flash, and the building tilts from side to side a lot. Finally it stops, A half Earth hangs in the black sky over a cratered surface. Staff and patients stare out of the windows. The electricity still works as people switch lights on. Then the panic really sets in, "All right now, everyone back to bed, we've got an emergency but we'll sort it out. Don't worry." Martha tried to calm everyone down as she moved into the room with her friend. Theta draws the curtain around his bed as Martha and Swales go to the window. "It's real. It's really real. Hold on." Martha reaches to open the window, "Don't! We'll lose all the air."
"But they're not exactly air tight. If the air was going to get sucked out it would have happened straight away, but it didn't. So how come?" Theta got dressed in a blue suit now. He thought he needed a change after everything we've been through and he asked for a color randomly one day. The next he came out in a blue suit, I thought in looked lovely on him with his cute red converse.
I watched with a smirk of approval, he looked over to see me checking him out and smirked back, "If we weren't in trouble, I'd say you'd have your way with me." I smiled with a raised eyebrow before nodding, "Very good point. Brilliant, in fact. What was your name?" I asked her as I drew back the curtain causing Martha to turn and Theta to pout lowly from being ignored.
"Martha." She answered back, "And it was Jones, wasn't it? Well then, Martha Jones, the question is, how are we still breathing?" Theta asked stepping up to the two women by the door. "We can't be." The other nurse sputtered out in shock as she turned back to the window. "Obviously we are, so don't waste my time. Martha, what have we got? Is there a balcony on this floor, or a veranda, or-" Martha nodded with wide eyes as she thought of a place for us to go too. "By the patients' lounge, yeah."
"Fancy going out?"
"Okay."
"We might die."
"We might not."
"Good. Come on. Not her, she'd hold us up." We get down to the patient balcony, I open the glass doors and step out, each of us take a deep breath. "We've got air. How does that work?" She asked turning with a frown as she looked around, "Just be glad it does." He muttered with his hands behind his back. "I've got a party tonight. It's my brother's twenty first. My mother's going to be really, really" She paused taking in the sight in shock, "You okay?" Theta asked her watching with a raised eyebrow. "Yeah." She nods, "Sure?" I asked this time.
"Yeah." She smiled gently before turning back to watch the scenery, "Want to go back in?" He asked her, "No way. I mean, we could die any minute, but all the same, it's beautiful." I chuckled and gave a nod myself, it really was beautiful. "Do you think? I find others things more beautiful. " Theta asked not really paying much attention to the sight, instead I saw him look towards me at the corner of my eye. "How many people want to go to the moon? And here we are." She laughed in shock, "Standing in the Earthlight." I nodded along with her before she frowned again and looked towards him. "What do you think happened?"
"What do you think?"
"Extraterrestrial. It's got to be. I don't know, a few years ago that would have sounded mad, but these days? That spaceship flying into Big Ben, Christmas, those Cybermen things two months ago. I had a cousin. Adeola. She worked at Canary Wharf. She never came home." My eyes widened in realization, that's why she was so familiar! Her cousin was turned into one of the cybernetic cybers and Yvonne pulled her ear piece out when she died from the brain intrusion. "I'm sorry." I told her giving her a gentle smile.
"Yeah."
"We were there, in the battle." Thera explained causing her to nod, "I promise you, Mister Smith, we will find a way out. If we can travel to the moon, then we can travel back. There's got to be a way." I chuckled lowly as Theta smiled with a nod. He liked her, I could tell. She was smart and determined, a good future companion. "It's not Smith. That's not my real name." He explained causing her to raise an eyebrow as she watched him with a new sudden distrust. "Who are you, then?" She asked, you know that saying curiosity killed the cat.
Yeah, well I had a funny feeling about this curiosity.
"I'm the Doctor. And this is Kate." I smiled and waved at her as she scoffed, "Me too, if I can pass my exams. What is it then, Doctor Smith?" She asked watching him closely, "Just the Doctor." I told her as he pointed an nodded. "How do you mean, just the Doctor?" She didn't seem very convinced, "Just the Doctor." He repeated causing her to raise an eyebrow in disbelief. "What, people call you the Doctor?"
"Yeah."
"Well, I'm not. As far as I'm concerned, you've got to earn that title." She pointed at him causing me to chuckle, she did have a point but this man was the most deserving person to have that title. He was made for the title and nothing would ever change my thoughts on that. "Well, I'd better make a start, then. Let's have a look. There must be some sort of-" He throws something out, and it bounces off, "Forcefield keeping the air in." I finished for him with a small nod, "But if that's like a bubble sealing us in, that means this is the only air we've got. What happens when it runs out?"
"How many people in this hospital?" I asked her causing her to shrug, "I don't know. A thousand?" She guessed, "One thousand people Suffocating." I explained to her causing her eyes to widen. "Why would anyone do that?" She demanded angrily, suddenly a rumble sounded. "Head's up! Ask them yourself." Three massive columnar spaceships pass overhead, then land nearby. Columns of marching beings come stomping out, "Aliens. That's aliens. Real, proper aliens." Both mine and Thetas eyes widened as we recognized them.
"Judoon."
The aliens march towards the hospital, "What are they doing?" They pass through the forcefield and into the hospital. The three of us move into the hospital to find out what they were doing and why they were here. The people there scream and run, hiding behind the chairs in the waiting area. The leader takes off his helmet to reveal that he is - a two horned rhinoceros. He speaks in his own language, "Blos so folt do no cro blo cos so ro." The other Judoon draw their weapons. "Er, we are citizens of planet Earth. We welcome you in peace."
The Judoon pushes him against the wall and shines a blue light in his mouth. "Please don't hurt me. I was just trying to help. I'm sorry, don't hurt me. Please don't hurt me." The Judoon plays a recording of Morgenstern on his blue light device, then plugs it into his armour. "Language assimilated. Designation Earth English. You will be catalogued." He shines a blue light onto Morgenstern's forehead, "Category human." He marks a cross on Morgenstern's right hand. "Catalogue all suspects." The process is repeated on all the people by the other Judoon.
We watch it all from above, I frowned as I tried to figure who they were looking for as Theta spots a small area. "Oh, look down there, you've got a little shop. I like a little shop." We both turned to look at him with irritation on our faces, "Never mind that. What are Judoon?" Martha grumbled as she glare at him. "They're like police. Well, police for hire. They're more like interplanetary thugs."
"And they brought us to the moon?"
"Neutral territory. According to galactic law, they've got no jurisdiction over the Earth, and they isolated it. That rain, lightning? That was them, using an H2O scoop." I scoffed slightly, "What are you on about, galactic law? Where'd you get that from? If they're police, are we under arrest? Are we trespassing on the moon or something?" Martha continued to question causing me to wince at the sudden headache I was getting. "No, but I like that. Good thinking. No, I wish it were that simple. They're making a catalogue. That means they're after something non human, which is very bad news for us."
"Why?" She asked causing us both to look at her, "Oh, you're kidding me." He raised an eyebrow as I cleared my throat, she laughed. "Don't be ridiculous. Stop looking at me like that."
"Come on then."
We move out of the room, hiding away from everyone so we didn't get caught before making our way up to a computer room. Theta using his sonic screwdriver on a computer, "They've reached third floor. What's that thing?" Martha asked as she moved over, "Sonic screwdriver." I answered for him causing her to glare, "Well, if you're not going to answer me properly." I through my hands up in annoyance. If she wasn't going to listen then she shouldn't have asked the damn question. "No, really, it is. It's a screwdriver, and it's sonic. Look." He pointed it and pressed the button.
"What else have you got, a laser spanner?" She spoke with sarcasm lacing her voice but he didn't seem to notice at all. "I did, but it was stolen by Emily Pankhurst, cheeky woman. Oh, this computer! The Judoon must have locked it down. Judoon platoon upon the moon. Because we were just travelling past. I swear, just wandering. We weren't looking for trouble, honestly, we weren't, but I noticed these plasma coils around the hospital, and that lightning, that's a plasma coil. Been building up for two days now, so I checked in. We thought something was going on inside. It turns out the plasma coils were the Judoon up above." We watched him for a moment as he finally paused in his speech. It was mostly true, we were just wondering in space but it was more or less the Tardis that sent the signal for us to check out.
"But what were they looking for?" Martha asked after nodding along with him while he talked, "Something that looks human, but isn't." I told her with a frown as I tried to figure it out myself. "Like you two, apparently." Martha raised an eyebrow at the two of us still not quite believing us. "Like us. But not us." Theta nodded then had to correct so she didn't believe it was us that they were looking for but she didn't believe that we weren't human anyway. "Haven't they got a photo?" Martha asked with a scoff, "Well, might be a shape-changer." I explained causing her to nod slowly.
"Whatever it is, can't you just leave the Judoon to find it?"
"If they declare the hospital guilty of harbouring a fugitive, they'll sentence it to execution."
"All of us?"
"Oh yes. If I can find this thing first. Oh! You see, they're thick! Judoon are thick! They are completely thick! They wiped the records. Oh, that's clever." Theta laughed excitedly, he loved learning something new and when others get clever as well. "What are we looking for?" She asked again, "I don't know. Say, any patient admitted in the past week with unusual symptoms. Maybe there's a back-up." Martha nodded before moving towards the door. "Just keep working. I'll go ask Mister Stoker. He might know."
"Should we follow?" I asked him causing him to sigh at stare at me for a minute. He then nodding grabbing my hand and pulling me out the door. Martha runs into the Doctor as we round the corner, "I've restored the back-up." He told her as she looked back panicked. "I found her." She gasped in horror, "You did what?" I ask, The motorcycle men break down Stoker's office door. "Run!" We head down the stairs, but meet Judoon coming off and divert onto another floor, followed by a motorcycle man.
We run in and the Doctor sonics the door lock. Then we moved behind the radiation screen to hid from them. "When I say now, press the button." He demanded to Martha pointing at the button before forcing me into a seat behind the screen to keep me safe. I rolled my eyes in slight annoyance, "But I don't know which one." She told him as he moved to the other side. "Then find out!" He starts messing with the x-ray machine while Martha gets the Operator's Manual from the shelf and starts reading. The man outside is battering the door off its hinges. It gets in and Theta points the x-ray machine at it.
"Now!" We both shouted, The leather-clad man gets a massive dose of radiation, and falls face down. Martha turns the machine off, "What did you do?" She asked as we both came out from behind the screen. "Increased the radiation by five thousand per cent. Killed him dead." He chuckled at his accomplishment, going in for a hug but I backed away causing him to from for a second. "Your full of radiation and I'm pregnant." His eyes widened as he backed away even further. He was so protective over us but forgot that he was dangerous right now because of the radiation he sucked in. "But isn't that going to kill you?" Martha asked finally getting our attention again.
"Nah, it's only roentgen radiation. We used to play with roentgen bricks in the nursery. Although it's not good for our pregnant women." He nods towards me but Martha doesn't seem to notice.
"It's safe for you to come out. I've absorbed it all. All I need to do is expel it. If I concentrate I can shake the radiation out of my body and into one spot. It's in my left shoe. Here we go, here we go. Easy does it. Out, out, out, out, out. Out, out. Ah, ah, ah, ah! Itches, itches, itches. Hold on." After a lot of jigging about, he throws his shoe into the bin. I laughed an opened my arms as he rushed into them with a happy hum. Pulling away he smiled brightly at Martha, "Done."
"You're completely mad." She uttered out staring at him as if he had two heads, "You're right. I look daft with one shoe." So he gets rid of the other one, I chuckled lowly. "Barefoot on the moon." He pursed his lips as he dragged out the word in a deep voice, clicking his teeth. "I don't think that's what she meant, dork." I laughed as she watched me before turning back to him. "So what is that thing? And where's it from, the planet Zovirax?" She asked still confused with everything. "It's just a Slab. They're called Slabs. Basic slave drones. See? Solid leather, all the way through. Someone has got one hell of a fetish." I explained as I examined them with a frown, why would this shape shifter need clones. I mean I understand the body guard thing but they weren't much of a protection detail.
"But it was that woman, Miss Finnegan. It was working for her, just like a servant." Theta went over to where he had left his screwdriver in the x-ray machine. It is totally fried, I winced in sadness with him as he gapped in shock. His eyes moved over to me as he pouted, "My sonic screwdriver." He whimpered out causing me to give a sympathetic smile. "She was one of the patients, but" Martha was still talking but neither of us were paying much attention. "Oh, no. My sonic screwdriver."
"She had a straw like some kind of vampire."
"I loved my sonic screwdriver."
"Doctor?"
"Sorry."
He throws the screwdriver away, I move behind him, bending down to pick it up. Placing it in the palm of my hand I smile lightly, this was the perfect time to practice something I discovered the other night. Closing my eyes I placed my other hand over it and thought of the Tardis, a second layer my hands were empty. Letting out a small laugh, l smiled proudly silently cheering. Now I just needing to learn to do it with bigger objects.
"You called me Doctor." Martha rolled her eyes at him as I moved over with him, "Anyway? Miss Finnegan is the alien. She was drinking Mister Stoker's blood." Martha explained causing me to nod as Theta grunted in curiosity. "Funny time to take a snack. You'd think she'd be hiding. Unless. No. Yes, that's it. Wait a minute. Yes! Shape-changer. Internal shape-changer. She wasn't drinking blood, she was assimilating it." I nodded in agreement as my eyes widened, "If she can assimilate Mister Stoker's blood, mimic the biology, she'll register as human. We've got to find her and show the Judoon. Come on!" I shout as I rush out with them following behind. Theta not happy that I was running but now wasn't the time.
—
We ending up hiding by the water dispenser as the other Slab walks down the corridor. "That's the thing about Slabs. They always travel in pairs." Theta explained as we continued to move trying not to be seen. "What about you?" She asked looking over at us, "What about me what?" He asked back, "Haven't you got back-up? You must have a partner or something? Other than Kate here, I mean she can't exactly help you if she's always near you. You have to have someone else around here." I frowned slightly, was she implying that I wasn't helpful.
"Oh. Humans. We're stuck on the moon running out of air with Judoon and a bloodsucking criminal, you're asking personal questions? Come on." Theta ignored her as we finally made our way into a hallway, getting out of the open common room. "I like that. Humans. I'm still not convinced you're an alien." She spoke right as we turn and walk into a Judoon, Theta gets scanned. "Non-human." She turned in shock staring at us with her mouth open. "Oh my God, you really are."
"And again." We run, and get round the corner before the Judoon fires its weapon. The chase is on, we rush up the stairs running past people who are starting to slump to the floor. "They've done this floor. Come on. The Judoon are logical and just a little bit thick. They won't go back to check a floor they've checked already. If we're lucky." A man is giving oxygen to a patient, "How much oxygen is there?" Martha asks as we pause next to him. "Not enough for all these people. We're going to run out." He started to panic and cry in terror, "How are you feeling? Are you all right?"
"I'm running on adrenaline."
"Welcome to my world."
"What about the Judoon?"
"Nah, great big lung reserves. It won't slow them down. Where's Mister Stoker's office?"
"It's this way." She leads us down the hall and into his room.
"She's gone. She was here." Stoker's body is very white, I wince at the sight of the drained man. "Drained him dry. Every last drop. I was right. She's a plasmavore." I muttered causing Thera to nod. "What's she doing on Earth?" Martha asked, "Hiding. On the run. Like Ronald Biggs in Rio de Janeiro. What's she doing now? She's still not safe. The Judoon could execute us all. Come on." Theta pulled me out of the room as Martha followed, "Wait a minute." She closes his eyes.
"Think, think, think. If you were a plasmavore surrounded by police, what would you do?" Before I could speak up in slight confusion as to why he was praising me, he sees the sign to the MRI, "Ah. She's as clever as you. Almost." I smiled gently at him before we hear a crash, screams. "Find the non-human. Execute." Theta spun around to me with a pained look, I stared back slightly confused before he turned to Martha. "Martha, stay here. I need time. You've got to hold them up." I watched silently for a moment, "How do I do that?" She snapped in irritation and shock as I shook my head, "Just forgive me for this. It could save a thousand lives. It means nothing. Honestly, nothing. I promise." He kisses Martha, quick and rushed, then runs away with me following behind in exasperation. "That was nothing?" She sighed dreamily.
I grunted pulling him to a stop, "You do realize I could have been your distraction, Right?" I asked lowly as I watched him. I know he wouldn't but he has been distancing himself lately and I wouldn't blame him, she was pretty and new- "Stop it. Right now." I jumped slightly at his voice, "I needed you next to me. I don't need her." He wiped his mouth harshly before pulling me into him by the waist. "I love you. You are the mother of my child and I would die for you. So don't ever second guess my love for you. Do you understand?" I stared back in slight shock before nodding with tears. Pulling him into a harsh kiss he moaned into it, but I pulled away. I had to because we had people to save.
—
There are flashes of light going on inside the room. Theta and I enter, The scanner itself has energy dancing all over it, and Florence is in the control booth, working. "Have you seen them? There are these things. These great big space rhino things. I mean, rhinos from space. And we're on the moon! Great big space rhinos with guns on the moon. And I only came in for my bunions, look. I mean, all fixed now. Perfectly good treatment. The nurses were lovely. I said to my wife, I said I'd recommend this place to anyone, especially for us since she's pregnant but then we end up on the moon. And did I mention the rhinos?" He rambled as she watched us with a glare, "Hold him." The Slab comes out from behind the door and grabs Theta arms, "Hey!" I shouted before everything went black.
——
"Find the non-human. Execute."
"Now listen, I know who you're looking for. She's this woman. She calls herself Florence." The Judoon scans Martha, "Human. Wait. Non-human traits suspected. Non-human element confirmed. Authorise full scan. What are you? What are you?"
——
"Er, that, that big er machine thing. Is it supposed to be making that noise?" The Doctor tried to continue as he watch Kate closely, one of the men in black came behind her and knocked her out before grabbing him. It seemed she didn't want the blood of a pregnant women. "You wouldn't understand." The creature hissed, "But isn't that a magnetic resonance imaging thing? Like a ginormous sort of a magnet? I did magnetics GCSE. Well, I failed, but all the same." The Doctor continued to ramble on, he knew he was annoying the shit out of her but he didn't care.
"The magnetic setting now increased to fifty thousand Tesla." She spoke with a evil glint in her eyes, "Ooo, that's a bit strong, isn't it?" The Doctor asked, "It'll send out a magnetic pulse that'll fry the brain stems of every living thing within two hundred and fifty thousand miles. Except for me, safe in this room." She laughed as The Doctor frowned trying to distract her enough for Martha to get here with the Judoon.
"But er, hold on, hold on, I did geography GCSE. I passed that one. Doesn't that distance include the Earth?" He asked her, "Only the side facing the moon. The other half will survive. Call it my little gift." She laughed watching him struggle, "I'm sorry, you'll have to excuse me, I'm a little out of my depth. I've spent the past fifteen years working as a postman. Hence the bunions. Why would you do that?" He cocked his head to the side at her. "With everyone dead, the Judoon ships will be mine, to make my escape."
"No, that's weird. You're talking like you're some sort of an alien." He continued to act as if he was human, it was all apart of his plan.
"Quite so."
"No!"
"Oh, yes."
"You're joshing me."
"I am not."
"I'm talking to an alien? In hospital? What, has the place got an ET department?" He laughed at his own joke, "It's the perfect hiding place. Blood banks downstairs for a midnight feast, and all this equipment ready to arm myself with should the police come looking." She explained, this alien was giving him everything because she though he was human. To be honest it kinda boosted his ego just a little bit. "So, those rhinos, they're looking for you?" He asked her causing he to chuckle and nod. "Yes. But I'm hidden."
"Right. Maybe that's why they're increasing their scans." He lied through his teeth causing her eyes to widen, "They're doing what?" She asked in panic. "Big chief rhino boy, he said, no sign of a non-human, we must increase our scans up to setting two?" He nodded as he lied, "Then I must assimilate again." She sighed before smirking towards him.
"What does that mean?"
"I must appear to be human."
"Well, you're welcome to come home and you've met my wife. She'd be honoured. We can have cake."
"Why should I have cake? I've got my little straw." She pulled out a straw as she moved closer to him. "Oh, that's nice. Milkshake? I like banana." He continued to ramble on, "You're quite the funny man. And yet, I think, laughing on purpose at the darkness. I think it's time you found some peace. Steady him!" The Slab forces the Doctor to his knees and turns his head so Florence has a clear shot at his jugular with her straw. "What are you doing?" He asked in a panicked voice, "I'm afraid this is going to hurt. But if it's any consolation, the dead don't tend to remember." She sticks her straw into his vein, and sucks.
——
I stared at my hands in anger and disappointment, who was I if I couldn't protect and make others happy? I'm not anyone, I'm just a lousy ruler who can't even keep the man she loved by her side long enough. I sighed, standing up and walking towards my window, pushing them open to feel the breeze of the cold world I lived on. The setting suns where beautiful, they took away the darkness on this planet but now that they were leaving again I knew it would come back.
The darkness I was so scared of, the darkness that the man I loved had no idea about because he couldn't see it like I did. I dread the day where he comes home to find I had been taken by that darkness.
It was only a matter of time.
——
Florence is sucking away when the Judoon enter. The Slab drops the Doctor and Florence hides her straw in her handbag. "Now see what you've done. This poor man just died of fright." She lied, "Scan him. Confirmation. Deceased." Martha runs in an spots The Doctor and Kate passed out on the floor. "No, he can't be. Let me through. Let me see him." She glared in horror finally pushing through, "Stop. Case closed." The Judoon didn't care much about the two people on the floor. "But it was her. She killed him. She did it. She murdered him." Martha pointed at her, "Judoon have no authority over human crime."
"But she's not human." Martha demanded, "Oh, but I am. I've been catalogued." She held up her hand to confirm. "But she's not! She assimi. Wait a minute. You drank his blood? The Doctor's blood?" Martha points a Judoon scanner at Florence. "Oh, I don't mind. Scan all you like." She smirked smugly thinking she would get away. "Non-human." The scanner confirmed, "But, what?"
"Confirm analysis." The leader demanded with a squint. "Oh, but it's a mistake, surely. I'm human. I'm as human as they come." She tried to laugh it off but Martha wasn't having any of it. "He gave his life so they'd find you."
"Confirm. Plasmavore, charged with the crime of murdering the child princess of Patrival Regency Nine."
"Well, she deserved it! Those pink cheeks and those blonde curls and that simpering voice. She was begging for the bite of a plasmavore."
"Then you confess?" The leader asks, "Confess? I'm proud of it! Slab, stop them!" The Judoon fries the Slab. "Verdict, guilty. Sentence, execution." Florence dashes behind the screen and plugs in the MRI scanner. The Magnetic Overload sign comes on, "Enjoy your victory, Judoon, because you're going to burn with me. Burn in hell!" The four Judoon all fire and incinerate Florence. "Case closed." The leader muttered, "But what did she mean, burn with me? The scanner shouldn't be doing that. She's done something." The Judoon scans the MRI machine, "Scans detect lethal acceleration of monomagnetic pulse."
"Well, do something! Stop it!" Martha shouted with a demand, "Our jurisdiction has ended. Judoon will evacuate." They started to leave, "What? You can't just leave it. What's it going to do?"
"All units withdraw."
The Judoon clomp their way back to their spaceships, "What about the air? We're running out of air."
"You can't go! That thing's going to explode and it's your fault!"

Martha starts CPR on the Doctor, as Kate gasps awake. "One, two, three, four, five. One, two, three, four, five. Two hearts! One, two, three, four, five. One, two, three, four, five." Martha starts to gasp for breath as I sit up in panic. She takes a last deep lungful and gives it to Theta, I watch silently as he wakes and she collapses next to him. "The scanner. She did something." I pointed causing him to nod and pick me up, "Theta!" He shot me a glare, silently telling me to be quiet as he moved me behind the screen for protection. Energy is playing all over the hospital. Theta moves to the scanner controls then realises he doesn't have a sonic screwdriver any more. "Soddit."
He pulls apart the cables that Florence had plugged together and the scanner turns off, I smile gently as he walks over to make sure I'm okay before moving to pick up the unconscious Martha and carries her down the corridor. The Judoon spaceships take off as the oxygen levels fall to zero, He carries Martha to the window. I stand behind watching in desperation, the air was getting thin even for us. I move to sit down, Theta looking towards me in horror. "Come on, come on, come on, come on, please. Come on, Judoon, reverse it." I mutter, finally it starts to rain. Letting out a joyful laugh I turn to Theta who was already smiling and watching me. "It's raining, Kate. It's raining on the moon." A crash of thunder and big flash, and the hospital is back where it should be with air.

Later, the people are being taken to other hospitals. Martha is sitting in the back of an ambulance. Morgenstern is giving his version to a policeman, "I told them I represented the human race. I told them, you can't do that. I said, we have rights." He tried to play off as being the savior but it wasn't really working as much as he wanted. "Martha! Oh, God! I thought you were dead! What happened? It was so weird, because the police wouldn't say. They didn't have a clue. And I tried phoning. Mum's on her way, but she can't get through. They've closed off all the roads." We sneak back to the Tardis, "There's thousands of people trying to get in. The whole city's come to a halt. And Dad phoned, because it's on the news and everything. He was crying." The sound of the Tardis dematerializing, "Oh, what a mess. What happened? I mean, what really happened? Where were you?"
—
I watched him silently as he continued his internal battle, "It's okay, you know. To care for Rose and to allow Martha to come along. It's okay to mourn, she was your friend once." I told him gently as I gripped his hand. His head dropped and his eyes started to tear up. Finally he let it all out as I held him, I was okay with it. He was okay with it. After a few minutes he nodded at me and let out a laugh, "Thanks. I needed that." I nodded back as he gently kissed me on the lips. "I understand." Of course I did, I was his Binded. I was meant to understand him, from the moment we connected to the moment we die I will always understand him.
I will give into him.
I will love him.
No matter what, if he falls for someone else. If he hates me. If he forgets me. I was made to be his and I would do anything to keep it that way.

We watch her with her family for a minute before she finally sees us standing on the corner. We back away and she follows, Theta stands next to the Tardis back in his brown suit. I stand next to him with a small smile, in a different white dress with a black over coat. "I went to the moon today." She stated slowly causing me to nod. "A bit more peaceful than down here." I teased her causing her to scoff, "You never even told me who you are." She stated with a raised eyebrow, "The Doctor. Kate." He pointed to us as he spoke, "What sort of species? It's not every day I get to ask that." She laughed it off. "I'm a Time Lord and she's the Queen of our planet. A Timelady." Her eyes widened as she stared at us, "Right! Not pompous at all, then."
"I just thought since you saved my life and I've got a brand new sonic screwdriver thanks to Kate which needs road testing, you might fancy a trip." He asked her as he smiled towards me. "What, into space?" She asked with a disbelieving smile on her face. "Well." We both dragged out the word, "But I can't. I've got exams. I've got things to do. I have to go into town first thing and pay the rent, I've got my family going mad."
"If it helps, I can travel in time as well."
"Get out of here."
"I can."
"Come on now, that's going too far." She hissed slightly at him in irritation. "I'll prove it." Theta goes into the Tardis and it dematerialises. Martha reaches into the space where it had been. Then it rematerialises again and he comes out holding his tie in his hand. "Told you." He smirked smugly causing me to chuckle. "No, but, that was this morning. Did you? Oh, my God. You can travel in time. But hold on. If you could see me this morning, why didn't you tell me not to go in to work?"
"Crossing into established events is strictly forbidden. Except for cheap tricks." He totally made up the cheap tricks part, "And that's your spaceship?" She pointed causing him to nod, "Our. It's called the Tardis. Time and Relative Dimension in Space." Theta explained, "Your spaceship's made of wood. There's not much room. We'd be a bit intimate." She hinted slightly as she stared him down with a lusty look. Great. Here we go again. "Take a look." He opened it and nodded towards the inside as she slowly moved in, "No, no, no. But it's just a box. But it's huge! How does it do that? It's wood. It's like a box with that room just rammed in. It's bigger on the inside." He mouthed along with her causing me to smile gently at him.
"Is it? I hadn't noticed." He spoke with sarcasm as he shuts the door. "Right then, let's get going." I insisted as I moved towards the console with him. He through his coat on one of the corals, "But is there a crew, like a navigator and stuff? Where is everyone?" Martha asked us, "Just us." He smiled gently at me as she watched, "All on your own?" She asked with a sad frown. "Well, sometimes I have guests. I mean some friends, travelling alongside. I had. There was recently, a friend of mine. Rose, her name was. Anyway." He paused slightly, I knew he was fighting himself over the thought of her. His ninth self loved her as a friend and companion, he wanted to remember the good in her but his self now hated her with a passion.
It was like playing tug a-war with himself.
"Where is she now?" Martha asked looking around, "With her family. Happy. She's fine. Not that you're replacing her." He grumbled causing me to raise an eyebrow as Martha glared slightly hurt. "Never said I was." She insisted, "Just one trip to say thanks. You get one trip, then back home. I'd rather be on my own with Kate." He smiled over at me again as he reached for my hand. "You're the one that kissed me." She teased with a flirty smile. "That was a genetic transfer." He pointed at her his eyes suddenly becoming dangerous.
"And if you will wear a tight suit." She started towards him, "Now, don't!" He backed away getting angry, I couldn't help but watch in slight amusement. "And then travel all the way across the universe just to ask me on a date."
"Stop it. Let's get one thing clear," She interrupted him causing me to cock my head to the side. She purposely interrupted so she wouldn't have to here what he was going to say. "For the record? I'm not remotely interested. I only go for humans." She tried to play it off as she watched him not so subtly, "Good. Well, then. Close down the gravitic anomaliser, fire up the helmic regulator. And finally, the hand brake. Ready?"
"No." She scoffed with a laugh, "Off we go." The Tardis dematerialises with a big jolt. We hang on for dear life, "Blimey, it's a bit bumpy." Martha muttered to herself. "Welcome aboard, Miss Jones." I laughed happily, "It's my pleasure, Mr and Mrs Smith." Theta smiled brightly at me causing me to smile back, he grabbed my hand and held my hand as we flew into time and space on our next adventure.
