{"Ugh, Can't we have one easy adventure."}

When I had woken up from my long nap, Theta and I had an even longer talk. He cleared things up, letting me know what he was finally feeling and honestly I was more than relieved because now all I needed to worry about was the little one growing inside me.

And making sure Theta stays alive.

———

The Tardis materialises in one of the corners of an eleven pointed Army base exterior wall. "Where are we?" Martha asked as we all stepped out, Theta back in his blue suit after insisting he needed a change. Saying that it was better for me and him if we tried to move on together.

"Ah, smell that Atlantic breeze. Nice and cold. Lovely. Martha, have you met my friend?" She turns around and looks up, her eyes widen causing me to look back with her. "Is that? Oh, my God. That's the Statue of Liberty." She laughed in joy and awe, "Gateway to the New World. Give me you tired, your poor, your huddled masses yearning to breath free." I told her as I placed a hand on her shoulder.

"That's so brilliant. I've always wanted to go to New York. I mean the real New York, not the new, new, new, new, new one." Martha laughed before raising an eyebrow to make a point, I smirked towards her. "Well, there's the genuine article. So good, they named it twice. Mind you, it was New Amsterdam originally. Harder to say twice. Now wonder it didn't catch on. New Amsterdam, New Amsterdam." I explained to her as she nodded along with me. "I wonder what year it is, because look, the Empire State Building's not even finished yet."

"Work in progress. Still got a couple floors to go, and if I know my history, that makes the date somewhere around" Martha picks up a copy of the New York Record which is lying on a bench. "November first 1930." She told us causing Theta to nod, "You're getting good at this." He commented not paying attention to the newspaper she grabbed. "Eighty years ago." He finally turns, noticing the paper she was holding. "It's funny, because you see all those old newsreels all in black and white like it's so far away, but here we are. It's real. It's now. Come on then, you. Where do you want to go first?" Martha asked us, handing the paper to him. "I think our detour just got longer." We both lean over to read with him, "Hooverville Mystery Deepens. What's Hooverville?"

Music changes to Putting on the Ritz. "Herbert Hoover, thirty first President of the USA, came to power a year ago. Up till then New York was a boom town, the Roaring Twenties, and then." He spoke as we walked along, our hands intertwined together with Martha on my side so I was in the middle. "The Wall Street Crash, yeah? When was that, 1929?" Martha asked leaning down slightly to look around me at him. "Yeah. Whole economy wiped out overnight. Thousands of people unemployed. All of a sudden, the huddled masses doubled in number with nowhere to go. So, they ended up here in Central Park." I explained to her as we made our way into Central Park. "What, they actually live in the park? In the middle of the city?"

A shanty town overlooked by Manhattan skyscrapers. "Ordinary people lost their jobs. Couldn't pay the rent and they lost everything. There are places like this all over America. No one's helping them. You only come to Hooverville when there's nowhere else to go." Theta spoke sadly, his eyes moving down towards me as we both felt a little of their pain. "You thieving lowlife!" A fight breaks out, "for a single loaf!" He yelled angrily. "I didn't touch it!"

"Somebody stole it.!" A black man comes out of a tent, "Cut that out! Cut that out right now!" He breaks up the fight. "He stole my bread!" The other man argued as he pointed at the kid, "That's enough! Did you take it?"

"I don't know what happened. He just went crazy."

"That's enough! Now, think real careful before you lie to me."

"I'm starving, Solomon." Soloman holds out his hand, and the white man takes the bread out from inside his coat. "We all starving. We all got families somewhere." He does the judgment of Soloman and gives each man half of the loaf. "No stealing and no fighting. You know the rules. Thirteen years ago I fought in the Great War. A lot of us did. And the only reason we got through was because we stuck together. No matter how bad things get, we still act like human beings. It's all we got." The two fighters walk away.

"Come on." Theta leads us over to Solomon, "I suppose that makes you the boss around here." I spoke up with a small smile as he turned to us, "And, er, who might you be?" He asked placing his hands on his hips, "He's the Doctor, that's Kate. I'm Martha." Martha points along as she speaks, "A doctor. Huh. Well, we got stockbrokers, we got a lawyer, but you're the first doctor. Neighbourhood gets classier by the day."

"How many people live here?" Martha asks as she looks around with a sad look, "At any one time, hundreds. No place else to go. But I will say this about Hooverville. We are a truly equal society. Black, white, all the same. All starving. So you're welcome, both of you. But tell me. Doctor, you're a man of learning, right? Explain this to me. That there's going to be the tallest building in the world. How come they can do that, when we got people starving in the heart of Manhattan?"

"So, men are going missing. Is this true?" Theta asks as Solomon leads us through the crowd of people with no homes. "It's true all right." He nods as we enter a tent, he was taking it hard it seemed. "But what does missing mean? Men must come and go here all the time. It's not like anyone's keeping a register." I told him with a frown, "Come on in. This is different." He speaks as he takes off his hat an sits down. "In what way?"

"Someone takes them, at night. We hear something, someone calls out for help. By the time we get there, they're gone like they vanished into thin air."

"And you're sure someone's taking them?"

"Doctor, when you got next to nothing, you hold on to the little you got. Your knife, blanket, you take it with you. You don't leave bread uneaten, fire still burning."

"Have you been to the police?" Martha asked, "Yeah, we tried that. Another deadbeat goes missing, big deal." The man glared, not at us but at the thought of the care that seemed to be nonexistent in this time. "So the question is, who's taking them and what for?" I grunted as I crossed my arms, "ugh, can't we just have one easy adventure?" I wasn't trying to complain, but we couldn't even go to the lost city of Atlantis without problems. Now that's a story for another time, "Solomon!" A boy shouts as he rushes into the tent causing me to frown, why does he look familiar? "Solomon, Mister Diagoras is here."

"I need men. Volunteers. I've got a little work for you and you sure look like you can use the money." The man announced as we crowded around in the center of the park. "Yeah. What is the money?" The boy who had come to get us called out, "A dollar a day." I raised an eyebrow making eye contact with Theta who look back at me with the same look. "What's the work?" Solomon asked, "A little trip down the sewers. Got a tunnel collapsed needs clearing and fixing. Any takers?" I glared at the man, "Why do you go down yourself?" I asked causing people to look towards me but he just glared back.

"A dollar a day? That's slave wage. And men don't always come back up, do they." Solomon interrupted the fight that was about to happen between us. I wasn't happy with this guy at all, "Accidents happen." I snarl lowly as he shrugged nonchalantly. "What do you mean? What sort of accidents?" I snapped as Theta held me back. "You don't need the work? That's fine. Anybody else?" He ignored me, Theta raises his hand. Martha gaps at him as I roll my eyes in annoyance, "Enough with the questions."

"Oh, no, no, no. I'm volunteering. I'll go." Martha raises her hand then I do which causes the man to smirk. "I'll kill you for this." I grumbled shooting him a glare causing him to chuckle at me, "I love you."

"Anybody else?" Frank and Solomon.

"Turn left. Go about a half a mile. Follow tunnel two seven three. Fall's right ahead of you, you can't miss it." The man spoke as he led us through the tunnels, "And when do we get our dollar?" Frank asks with sarcasm causing me to raise an eyebrow. "When you come back up." He snipped causing me to glare, "And if we don't come back up?" I snapped back. "Then I got no one to pay."

"Don't worry, we'll be back."

"Let's hope so." Martha mutters as Theta stares into Diagoras' eyes for a few moments, then follows the others with me in tow. "We just got to stick together. It's easy to get lost. It's like a huge rabbit warren. You could hide an army down here." Frank explained to us as we nodded along, "So what about you, Frank? You're not from around these parts, are you?" I asked him as he looked back at me with a raised eyebrow looking me up and down. "Oh, you could talk. No, I'm Tennessee born and bred."

"So how come you're here?"

"Oh, my daddy died. Mama couldn't afford to feed us all. So, I'm the oldest, up to me to feed myself. So I put on my coat, hitched up here on the railroads. There's a whole lot of runaways in the camp, younger than me, from all over. Missouri, Oklahoma, Texas. Solomon keeps a lookout for us. So, what about you? You're a long way from home."

"Yeah, I'm just a hitcher too."

"You stick with me, you'll be all right."

"So this Diagoras bloke, who is he then?" Theta asked, Solomon who frowned in irritation at the thought of the man. "A couple of months ago, he was just another foreman. Now, it seems like he's running most of Manhattan." Solomon explained to us, "How'd he manage that then?" I asked cocking my head as I placed my hands behind my back, I was in between the two pairs. Martha and Frank behind with Theta and Solomon in front of me. "These are strange times. A man can go from being King of the Hill to the lowest of the low overnight. It's just for some folks it works the other way round."

"Whoa!" A luminous green jellyfish is lying on the ground in front of them. "Is it radioactive or something?" She gags in disgust as the three of us bend down. "It's gone off, whatever it is." Theta puts his glasses on before picking it up causing me to wince in disgust myself. "And you've got to pick it up." I spoke with a deep frown, he smells it. "Shine your torch through it. Composite organic matter. Martha? Medical opinion?" Theta turned to her causing her to frown back slightly in thought. "It's not human. I know that."

"No, it's not. And I'll tell you something else. We must be at least half a mile in. I don't see any sign of a collapse, do you? So why did Mister Diagoras send up down here?"

"Where are we now? What's above us?"

"Well, we're right underneath Manhattan."

By a handy manhole cover that is shedding some light. "We're way beyond half a mile. There's no collapse, nothing." Solomon glared in irritation, "That Diagoras bloke, was he lying?" Martha asked us, "Looks like it." Theta uttered with a nod. "So why'd he want people to come down here?" Frank asked looking back at us, "Solomon, I think it's time you took these three back." I elbow him causing him to wince in pain, "Two. We'll be much quicker on our own." Pig squeals echo around us.

"What the hell was that?"

"Hello?"

"Shush."

"Frank."

"What if it's one of the folk gone missing? You'd be scared and half mad down here on your own." Frank scoffed to himself, "Do you think they're still alive?" Theta asked, "Heck, we ain't seen no bodies down here. Maybe they just got lost." More squeals. "I know I never heard nobody make a sound like that."

"Where's it coming from? Sounds like there's more than one of them." We all spin around trying to find the source of the sounds. "This way." I insist as I turn to go down a corridor, "No, that way." Solomon's torch lights up a figure crouched in a corner. "Doctor?" Martha questions, "Who are you?" Solomon looked towards us with a deep before turning back to the figure. "Are you lost? Can you understand me? I've been thinking about folk lost down"

"It's all right, Frank. Just stay back. Let me have a look. He's got a point, though, my mate Frank. I'd hate to be stuck down here on my own. We know the way out. Daylight. If you come with us" Then he sees that the man is a pig, my eyes widen as I move closer for a better look. "Oh, but what are you?" I asked him gently, "Is that, er, some kind of carnival mask?" Solomon asked with a frown.

"No, it's real. I'm sorry. Now listen to me. I promise I can help. Who did this to you?" Theta gently pushed me behind him as he then moved closer to the pig man. "Doctor? I think you'd better get back here." More pigmen have entered the tunnel. "Doctor!" Martha shouts as I pull him away getting his attention. "Actually, good point."

We return to the group, "They're following you." Martha announces as we move back to the others. "Yeah, I noticed that, thanks. Well then, Martha, Frank, Solomon."

"What?"

"Eh? Er, basically, run!"

The pigmen chase us back to a junction, "Where are we going?!" Martha shouts as we turn a corner, "This way!" He spots something down a side passage. "It's a ladder! Come on!" Theta uses the sonic screwdriver to open the cover at the top. Frank grabs an iron T bar to ward off the pigmen as Martha climbs up after me, insisting I go first. "Frank! Frank!" Solomon climbs to safety, then Frank runs to the ladder. "C'mon, Frank! C'mon!" The pigmen grab Frank's legs, Solomon and Theta try to grab his hand. "I've got you. C'mon! Come on!" Frank is pulled down by the pigmen.

"Frank!"

"No!" I pulled Theta into a hug as he cried out for Frank who disappeared. Solomon pushes us away as the pigmen start to climb the ladder, and slams the lid shut. "We can't go after him." Solomon insists with a grunt as he helps us up. "We've got to go back down. We can't just leave him."

"No, I'm not losing anybody else. Those creatures were from Hell. From Hell itself! If we go after them, they'll take us all! There's nothing we can do. I'm sorry." A women steps out from behind a rack and points a revolver at us, Theta pushing me behind him as I raise my shield. "All right, then. Put them up. Hands in the air and no funny business. Now tell me, you schmucks, what have you done with Laszlo?"

"Who's Laszlo?"

We move to the dressing room where the women still has the revolver pointed at us. "Laszlo's my boyfriend. Or was my boyfriend until he disappeared two weeks ago. No letter, no goodbye, no nothing. And I'm not stupid. I know some guys are just pigs but not my Laszlo. I mean, what kind of guy asks you to meet his mother before he vamooses?" She rants as she waved the gun around, Theta standing in front watching it closely. "Yeah. It might, might just help if you put that down." He tells her slowly trying not to upset her or cause her to do anything stupid.

"Huh? Oh, sure." She throws it down causing Martha and Theta to jump slightly thinking it would go off. I grabbed his hand tightly, I knew he didn't like guns because of the war so I needed to make sure I comforted him. "Oh, come on. It's not real. It's just a prop. It was either that or a spear." She shrugged lightly as if it was no big deal. "What do you think happened to Lazlo?" Martha asked, "I wish I knew. One minute he's there, the next, zip. Vanished." She frowned at the thought. "Listen, ah...what's your name?"

"Tallulah."

"Tallulah."

"Three Ls and an H."

"Right. We can try to find Laszlo, but he's not the only one. There are people disappearing every night." Theta tries to get his information straight, "And there are creatures. Such creatures." Solomon told her causing her to lead around Theta in interest. "What do you mean, creatures?" She asked, "Look, listen, just trust me. Everyone is in danger. I need to find out exactly what this is." The jellyfish thing, "Did you really put that in your pocket?" I asked him in our language out of shock and slight irritation.

"Because then I'll know exactly what we're fighting."

"Yuck."

The Doctor is scavenging for parts to build a gizmo after leaving Kate and Martha with the dancer. Solomon brings a small Art Nouveau radio, "How about this? I found it backstage." He hands it to The Doctor who nods, "Perfect. It's the capacitors I need. I'm just rigging up a crude little DNA scan for this beastie. If I can get a chromosomal reading, I can find out where it's from."

"How about you, Doctor? Where are you from? I've been all over. I never heard anybody talk like you. Just exactly who are you?"

"Oh, I'm just sort of passing by."

"I'm not a fool, Doctor." Solomon grunted in irritation. "No. Sorry." Solomon goes to the NYC sewer entrance. "I was so scared, Doctor. I let them take Frank because I was just so scared. I got to get back to Hooverville. With these creatures on the loose, we got to protect ourselves. Ain't no one else going to help us." Solomon glared at the ground, "Good luck."

"I hope you find what you're looking for, for all our sakes."

——

Tallulah is getting ready for her next show. "Laszlo. He'd wait for me after the show. Walk me home like I was a lady. He'd leave a flower for me on my dressing table. Every day, just a single rose bud." She spoke happily as she smiled looking down, "Haven't you reported him missing?" Martha asked. "Sure. He's just a stagehand. Who cares? The management certainly don't." She scoffed back with an eye roll, "Can't you kick up a fuss or something?" I asked her with a raised eyebrow. "Okay, so then they fire me."

"But they'd listen to you. You're one of the stars."

"Oh, honey, I got one song in a back street revue and that's only because Heidi Chicane broke her ankle. Which had nothing to do with me whatever anybody says. I can't afford to make a fuss. If I don't make this month's rent, then before you know it, I'm in Hooverville."

"Okay, I get it."

"It's the Depression, sweetie. Your heart might break, but the show goes on. Because if it stops, you starve. Every night I have to go out there, sing, dance, keep going, hoping he's going to come back." She started to tear up but it was a happy sort of sad that she seemed to be feeling. "I'm sorry." Both Martha and I speak together, "Hey, you're lucky, though. You got yourself a forward thinking guy with that hot potato in the sharp suit." She gave me a pointed look causing me to laugh and smile down at my feet. "I've seen the way you look at him. It's obvious."

"Oh, I should have realised. He's into musical theatre, huh? What a waste. Still, you got to live in hope. It's the only thing that's kept me going because, well, look. On my dressing table every day still." A white rose bud, "You think it's Laszlo?" I asked her suddenly wanting to be around my lover. "I don't know. If he's still around, why is he being all secret like he doesn't want me to see him?" I smile gently at her before I rush after Theta.

———

A town meeting in the pouring rain, "The stories are all true. People are being taken. We lost Frank today. He was stolen from right in front of me. No more. I swear to you, no more. Now, I made a pledge that this place would be a peaceful place, but now it's time to take up arms." Solomon announced as the crowd cheers. "Yeah!" They raised their cheers in agreement, "We need weapons. We need sentries on duty. We need men prepared to fight. We've got to protect ourselves because you know no one else will."

"That's right."

"Now get moving. Arm yourselves. Come on!"

———

Theta aims a spotlight onto the jellyfish, which is pinned inside his gizmo, which in turn is powered by the sonic screwdriver.. "That's it. We need to heat you up." He puts on his glasses and starts to examine it, I watched as he did his thing in silence. "This is artificial." I muttered as I eyed it as well causing him to nod in agreement.

"Ladies and gentlemen. The Laurenzi"

"Genetically engineered. Whoever this is, oh, you're clever." I smile gently at him as I sit down next to him watching, as the announcer speaks out loud through the auditorium.

"Dancing devils, with Heaven and Hell!"

The curtains open to show the chorus line in their red devil dresses, who pull back their red feather fans to reveal Tallulah, the angel in white. She starts singing, "You lured me in with your cold grey eyes, your simple smile, your bewitching lies. One and one and one is three. My bad, bad angel, the Devil and me. You put the devil in me. You put the devil in me. You put the devil in me. My bad, bad angel, you put the Devil in me." From the wings, Martha spots a pitman in the opposite wings. She tries to sneak across the back of the stage, unnoticed. "What are you doing?" Martha accidentally grabs a devil's tail and they both fall. "What are you doing?"

"You're on my tail. Get off my tail!"

He is listening to the jellyfish with a stethoscope. "Fundamental DNA type four six seven dash nine eight nine." My eyes widened as I smacked him in shock, "Nine eight nine?" I question standing up in panic, "Hold on, that means planet of origin. Skaro." My eyes widen as he looks back at me as well, them again?!

——

The audience are laughing at the chaos. "Get off the stage. You're spoiling it!" The dancer shouted at Martha, "But look. Over there!" Martha points at the pigman, Tallulah screams and it runs. "Hey!" Martha chases the pigman backstage, "Wait!" The pigman runs in. "But you're different to the others! Just wait!" Clang! It's gone into the sewers, Tallulah stands around the crowd of girls.

"It was like something out of a movie show."

"Oh, that face. I ain't never going to sleep."

"Where is she? Where's Martha?"

"I don't know. She ran off the stage." A different pigman grabs Martha from behind. She screams. Theta, Tallulah, and I run towards the sound. "Martha!" The sewer entrance lid hasn't been put back properly. Theta puts his coat on, "Where are you going?" She asked us as she stared at us in shock. "They've taken her."

"Who's taken her? What're you doing?" Theta goes down into the sewers with me following close behind. "I said, what the hell are you doing?" She shouts down at us, "Crazy people." Tallulah puts on a fur coat and goes down the ladder. "No, no, no, no, no way. You're not coming." Both Theta and I insisted, "Tell me what's going on." I groaned and rolled my eyes.

"There's nothing you can do. Go back."

"Look, whoever's taken Martha, they could've taken Laszlo, couldn't they?"

"Tallulah, you're not safe down here." I insisted causing her to glare at me. "Then that's my problem. Come on. Which way?" Tallulah goes down a tunnel. "This way." Tallulah comes back and follows us.

———

"No! Let me go!" Martha is pushed against a wall and a line of men is escorted past. "Martha." Frank looked confused at the sight of her. "You're alive! Oh! I thought we'd lost you." A pigman pushes Frank, "All right, all right, we're moving."

"Where are they taking us?"

"I don't know, but we can find out what's going on down here."

———

Theta, Tallulah and I walk under a portcullis. "When you say, they've taken her, who's they exactly? And who are you anyway? I never asked."

"Shush."

"Okay, okay."

"Shush, shush, shush, shush, shush, shush, shush." The shadow of a Dalek is cast on the wall ahead of them. "I mean you're handsome and all." Theta puts his hand over her mouth and drags her back into a service alcove with standing behind until the Dalek is safely past and away. "No, no, no, no, no, no, no. They survived. They always survive while I lose everything."

"That metal thing? What was it?" She asked us as he moved to look out, "It's called a Dalek. And it's not just metal, it's alive." I explained to her as I peered around the corner. "You're kidding me." She scoffed in disbelief, "Does it look like I'm kidding?" He snaps causing me to look back as she looks at him in shock but he ignores us. "Inside that shell is a creature born to hate, whose only thought is to destroy everything and everyone that isn't a Dalek too. It won't stop until it's killed every human being alive."

"But if it's not a human being, that kind of implies it's from outer space. Yet again, that's a no with the kidding. Boy. Well, what's it doing here, in New York?"

We move along the sewers, Theta turns to us, "Every second you're down here, you're in danger. I'm taking you back right now." A pigman is round the corner. Tallulah screams and it tries to hide. "Where's Martha? What have you done with her? What have you done with Martha?"

"I didn't take her." It spoke causing my eyes to widen, "Can you remember your name?" I asked moving closer only for him to move backward. "Don't look at me." He insisted causing me to frown, he wasn't talking to us. "Do you know where she is?" Tallulah asked this time it was her moving closer and that's who he seemed to be reacting too. "Stay back! Don't look at me." He shouted, "What happened to you?"

"They made me a monster."

"Who did?"

"The masters."

"The Daleks. Why?"

"They needed slaves. They needed slaves to steal more people so they created us. Part animal, part human. I escaped before they got my mind, but it was still too late." The pigman explained to us, "Do you know what happened to Martha?" I asked him, "They took her. It's my fault. She was following me." He looked down in guilt. "Were you in the theatre?" She asked him causing him to slowly nod back, "I never. Yes."

"Why? Why were you there?"

"I never wanted you to see me like this." My eyes widened as I finally figured it out, looking up at Theta he nodded back in his own realization. "Why me? What I got to do with this? Were you following me? Is that why you were there?" Laszlo turns around so that Tallulah can finally see him. "Yes." He answered sadly, "Who are you?" She insisted, "I was lonely." He whispered to her. "Who are you?" She asked again, "I needed to see you." He still wouldn't answer causing her to glare in irritation, not gonna lie I was also getting irritated.

"Who are you?"

"I'm sorry."

"No, wait. Let me look at you. Laszlo? My Laszlo? Oh, what have they done to you?"

"I'm sorry. So sorry."

"Laszlo, can you show me where they are?"

"They'll kill you."

"If I don't stop them, they'll kill everyone."

"Then follow me."

We move throughout the sewers in silence, "What are they keeping us here for?" Franks voice came through causing both Thera and I to smile at one another in happinesses that he was still alive. "I don't know. I've got a nasty feeling we're being kept in the larder." It was Martha this time, Laszlo brings the Doctor and Tallulah to where they can see Martha and Frank. The pigmen get nervous, "What're they doing? What's wrong? What's wrong?"

"Silence. Silence." Laszlo hides. "What the hell is that?" Martha asks with wide eyes as we watch silently. "You will form a line. Move. Move." The Dalek demands, "Just do what it says, everyone, okay? Just obey." Martha insisted to everyone, "The female is wise. Obey."

"Report."

"These are strong specimens. They will help the Dalek cause."

"Dalek?"

"What is the status of the Final Experiment?"

"The Dalekanium is in place. The energy conductor is now complete." Another Dalek speaks, "Then I will extract prisoners for selection." A pigman drags an older black man forward. "Intelligence scan, initiate." The Dalek puts its sucker onto the man's face. "Reading brain waves. Low intelligence." I frown as I try to figure out what they are doing. "You calling me stupid?" The man snaps angrily, "Silence! This one will become a pig slave. Next."

"No, let go of me. I'm not becoming one of them. No! No." He is dragged away, "Intelligence scan. Initiate." They continue with the next person. "They're divided into two groups. High intelligence and low intelligence. The low intelligence are taken to become pig slaves like me." Laszlo explains to us in a whisper, "Well, that's not fair." She snaps causing both me and Theta to shush her. "You're the smartest guy I ever dated." She whispered to him causing him to blush.

"And the others?"

"They're taken to the laboratory." Laszlo told us, "Why? What for?" I asked turning to them. "I don't know. The masters only call it the Final Experiment." The Dalek has scanned Frank, "Superior intelligence." Martha's turn, "Intelligence scan, initiate. Superior intelligence. This one will become part of the Final Experiment."

"You can't just experiment on people. It's insane! It's inhuman!" Martha shouts as they start to drag her away. "We are not human. Prisoners of high intelligence will be taken to the transgenic laboratory." The Dalek insisted, "Look out, they're moving!"

Laszlo leads Tallulah away, but we stay behind watching it all. "Doctor. Doctor, quickly! Kate." Laszlo called out to us but we weren't going to be moving anytime soon. "We're not coming. I've got an idea. You go." Theta points to the exit as he grips my hand. "Laszlo, come on."

"Can you remember the way?"

"Yeah, I think so."

"Then go, please."

"But Laszlo, you got to come with me."

"Where would I go? Tallulah, I'm begging you. Save yourself. Just run. Just go. Go." Tallulah leaves. Laszlo, Theta and I let the Daleks glide past then join with the humans following. "Just keep walking." I insist to Martha who gaps at the sight of us. "Oh, I'm so glad to see you." Martha laughed causing me to nod and grip her hand, "Yeah, well, you can kiss me later. You too, Frank, if you want." I roll my eyes at his teasing, I knew he didn't mean it and so did Martha by the smirk she shot me.

Meanwhile, Tallulah gets lost in the sewer tunnels.

The Daleks don't realise they have three extra prisoners. "Report." The first Dalek utters, "Dalek Sec is in the final stage of evolution." Dalek thay spoke, "Scan him. Prepare for birth." Another commanded. "Evolution?" Theta muttered lowly, "What's wrong with old Charlie boy over there?" Martha asked, "Ask them."

"What, me? Don't be daft." Martha hissed in horror, "I don't exactly want to get noticed. Ask them what's going on."

"Daleks, I demand to be told. What is this Final Experiment? Report!"

"You will bear witness."

"To what?"

"This is the dawn of a new age."

"What does that mean?"

"We are the only four Daleks in existence, so the species must evolve a life outside the shell. The Children of Skaro must walk again." Sec's shell stops smoking and the light goes out in its eye stalk. The casing opens and a biped struggles out. The casing shuts and the biped straightens, "What is it?" It has the one-eyed head and hands of a Dalek blob, but is wearing Mister Diagoras' suit. It takes a deep breath and speaks with Diagoras' accent. "I am a human Dalek. I am your future." My eyes seemed to widen further as my heart pounded, Theta pulled me behind with a tight grip.

Any corrections let me know.
