Well, today is the day my gym challenge begins, I got out of bed and took my Pokéballs. I went to the nearest cafe to have some breakfast, after finishing my meal, I headed toward the Gym but then 'Wait, did I take my clothes out of the dry washer?' I ran as quickly as possible to the laundromat to get my clothes out 'How do I keep forgetting?' After getting my clothes out, I decided it was time to change my attire. I got back to my room and took out some clothing from my backpack 'Let's see what we got here, hmm, this should do.' I chose a white shirt and black pants along with a green jacket. After taking a good look at myself in my new attire, I headed toward the Gym.
After arriving at the Gym, I had to say it was a lot more impressive than the games 'The games don't do this place any justice.' For one, it was a lot bigger than it was in the games, secondly, the location of the Gym was placed in was magnificent, it was very green, and it looked like the upgraded version of Stonehenge, just with Stonjourner replacing Stonehenge. The only location I could compare was the middle of Jewel in Singapore, but that was artificially made, here everything is natural. I entered the Gym to be met by the receptionist, but before I went to her, I went to get a Pokéball from the Ball Guy 'Ball guy is peak character design.' After getting the Pokéball from Ball Guy, I went to the changing room in the gym to get into my gym uniform, after doing so, I went to the receptionist "I have a battle booked with Milo at 8." The receptionist checked her computer "Alright, just head in, the gym challenge should be ready for you." I thanked her before I went into the gym challenge 'Welp, today is the day I will show the world the power of a competitive trainer.'
"Hello, I am gym trainer Samual, I will be here to tell you the instructions for the gym challenge." I nodded, even though I already knew the instructions "Your challenge will be to herd a flock of twenty Wooloo to the mats over there." He pointed to the mats over at the hays "After you herd all twenty Wooloo to the mat, you will progress to the next stage." I looked towards the Wooloos "The next two stages will have Yampers running around, the Yampers will scare the Wooloo away, if the Yampers are too much of a problem for you, you can challenge me and my colleagues to have the Yampers removed." I nodded "Alright, I will take my leave now." The gym trainer left and the gym challenge began. I herded all the Wooloo to the mat and avoided the gym trainer 'The next two will be difficult to do while avoiding the gym trainers' I entered the second stage. I herded all the Wooloo while avoiding the Yamper, it really wasn't that difficult, I just needed to wait for the Yamper to pass the row I was herding the Wooloos 'So far so good.' The last stage was a bit harder with dodging two Yampers along with the gym trainer, however, it was doable, after the Wooloos knocked down the last piece of hay, I walked up the stairs that led to the battle 'This brings,... uncomfortable memories.' After reaching the hatch steam blew out the holes 'Will, let's see if it lives up to the hype of the games. 'I entered the hatch to see the black corridors with light shining on the entrance 'This will be very fun.' I entered the stadium to see...sixteen people in the stands, I should have expected this, after all, who would go to the first battle of an absolute nobody? When the league season is two months away from ending! Never mind that, what is important are the people on the stands currently, I saw a few people who I did not recognize but I did see Jaime with friends and family "William! I'm over here!" Seems like he saw me, I turned my head back towards the field to see Milo standing on the other side, waiting for my arrival "Well, let's not keep the crowd waiting, shall we?" Normally, what Milo just said would have been an epic opener to a battle, if there were more than fifty people here "Welcome to Turffield Stadium! Today, we got an interesting gym challenger, hailing from all the way from Motostoke! We have William Brown!" I got to appreciate the announcer's enthusiasm, even though there bearly anyone there, A referee entered the field, most likely the gym trainer from the beginning "This match will be a two-on-two standard battle between challenger William Brown and Gym leader Milo. The conditions for winning are when both Pokémon on a team are unable to battle or either the challenger or Gym leader Milo surrenders." Alright, understandable "Only may the challenger substitute, and may do so only once." The referee looked at me before proceeding to look at Milo "Battlers, select your first Pokémon." I threw out Rolycoly Pokéball while Milo chose Gossifleur "A classic battle between a fire type and a grass type! Will Gossifleur triumph over Rolycoly or will Rolycoly subdue Gossifleur? Gossifleur has the experience but Rolycoly has the type advantage! This will be close! No, no it won't "Are both trainers ready?" Ready than I'll ever be "Ready!" Milo looked at me and smiled "Ready!" Gossifleur stands straighter than before and Rolycoly is slightly twitchy "Begin!"
Rolycoly makes the first move and tackles Gossifleur, sadly the attack misses as Gossifleur dodges 'So an offensive tactic won't work, let's try a more defensive one.' Gossifleur countered with Magical Leaf, the attack bearly scratches Rolycoly "Rolycoly, halt!" Milo looks confused, and so as Rolycoly but he follows without questions "Oh what this, why has Trainer William ordered Rolycoly to stop attacking?" To quote Sun Tzu "The whole secret lies in confusing the enemy, so that he cannot fathom our real intent." currently my tactic was to wait out for Gossifleur to miss up and counter it with an Incinerate or tire it out before attacking "Gossifleur use Razor Leaf!" Leaves slowly started to surround Rolycoly "Get out of there!" Rolycoly just bearly managed to evade the attack "Use Razor Leaf again!" This pattern repeated until Gossifleur stopped to take a rest 'This is our chance!' Gossifleur fate was sealed "Rolycoly, Rapid Spin directly into Gossifleur!" Rolycoly speeds up 'Gossifleur, evade it!" Fortunately for me, Gossifleur was too exhausted from spamming Razor Leaf to dodge in time. The attack hits Gossifleur and knocks it back "Now immediately use Incinerate!" The attack hits its point blank, yet it still stands 'Damn, I underestimated it.' Gossifleur counters with a Leafage 'Ouch.' Rolycoly backs away "Rolycoly it's almost down, use Rock Blast." The attack hits Gossifleur square in the eyes ' That must've hurt.' Gossifleur staggers to the ground "Rolycoly use one last Incinerate!" Roloycoly moves toward Gossifleur "Gossifleur, get up and use Leaf Tornado!" Excuse me, how the fu-, the barrage of leaves hits Rolycoly 'If that Gossifleur was a bit stronger it would have folded my Rolycoly like an omelet.' Rolycoly held on to a slither, with sheer determination Rolycoly still charged forward, Milo was taken aback by it 'Good, he didn't expect Rolycoly to survive.' Rolycoly closed the gap and with all his might, used Incinerate "Goss.." Gossifleur cried out before it fell "Gossifleur is unable to battle, the round goes to Challenger William." That was harder than I expected "What a match! It seems like Rolycoly overpowered Gossifleur with Incinerate, however before Gossifleur fell, it landed a nasty Leaf Torando on Rolycoly, will Rolycoly stand against Gym leader Milo's next Pokémon?" With a small pause on the match, I turned to look at Jaime, he looked quite worried "Gym leader Milo, please choose your next Pokémon." Milo turned to look at me "That was a good match, never have I ever been this challenged when fighting a new trainer, keep this up and one day you might just become champion!" He praised "But now is time to truly give it my all!" Milo threw out Eldegoss Pokéball 'My Rolycoly is going to get folded like wet cardboard.' Eldegoss appeared on the field "Match two, Rolycoly vs Eldegoss, begins!" Goodbye Rolycoly, you never stood a chance by yourself "Eldogoss used Razor Leaf!" Rolycoly fate is sealed, however, I could try to get one last shot in "Rolycoly evade and use Rock Blast!" Rolycoly managed to get three shots off before trying to evade, sadly Rolycoly was not quick enough to dodge the attack. The Razor Leaf was the final nail in the coffin for Rolycoly "Rolycoly is unable to battle, the round goes to Gym leader Milo." Well, this is going to now be a cake walk "And Rolycoly is down for the count! That Razor Leaf had finally put down Rolycoly, what will Challenger William do? And what Pokémon will he send out next?" Porygon Pokéball shakes with anticipation "Challenger William, please choose your next Pokémon." I griped Porygon Pokéball before throwing it "Porygon." I would be playing boss music by now if I had my devices here "It seems like Porygon is ready to avenge Rolycoly, the question is, can it do it?" Porygon very much can "Round three, Porygon vs Eldegoss, begins!" Porgon doesn't move as it knows what is happening next "This time, I'm no longer holding back!" Milo leans a bit back "Eldegoss, Dynamax!" Eldegoss returns to their Pokéball before the Pokéball grows ten times its original size 'I would be concerned if I didn't have my Porygon right now.' Milo tossed the Pokéball, and Eldegoss was released onto the battlefield, this time at the size of Big Ben 'Holy shit, it looks so much bigger in real life' Porygon looked up, unfazed "Woah! It looks like Gym leader Milo decided it was time to get serious!" It might look intimidating, but this is Porygon we are talking about, a few Ice beams will just end the job, even if it is Dynamax "Eldegoss, use Max Overgrowth!" Eldegoss charges up the attack and fires "Porygon use Conversion 2!" Porygon immediately turns into a fire type before the attack hits, in almost an instant giant mushrooms grow out of the ground and the grass starts growing to a very tall degree, the attack would normally be the finisher to a battle, however, like the chad it is, Porygon tanks the attack 'It now my turn! Porygon use Ice Beam!" Porygon fires the beam of ice directly at Eldegoss, the attack hits it square in the chest, which sends it staggering back "Eldegoss, us-" Porygon fires another Ice beam "Porygon, keep spamming Ice beam until it low!" Eldegoss tries to evade, however, while it was Dynamax, it is too big to evade any attack"In a surprising turn of events, Porygon survives Max Overgrowth and turns the tables onto Eldegoss! While Dynamaxing may make a Pokémon stronger, on occasions like this, it makes the Pokémon too big to evade attacks." Huh, I am so used to hearing 'how the turns have tabled' that hearing it in a normal way sounds weird "Well, I guess my time is up!" Eldegoss suddenly glows bright red before shrinking back to its original size "Alright, Eldegoss use Magical leaf!" Porygon evaded the leaves flowing toward it "Porygon, use Blizzard!" Porygon creates a hail of ice that completely misses Eldegoss 'Bruh.' Eldegoss counters with Razor leaf, and Porygon doesn't even bother getting out of the way before getting hit "Porygon, use Thunder Shock." Porygon fires off the attacks, which nails Eldegoss in the head "Eldegoss, counter with Round!" Eldegoss tries to counter but it halts after a jolt of electricity flows through it 'Good, it's Paralysed.' Porygon steadied itself "Porygon, it is time to end this! Use Blizzard!" Porygon creates another hail of ice...for it to just miss like the last attempt 'I think I spent all my luck on Limbus Company, but still, what is this bullshit!' Eldegoss recovered from the paralysis "Eldegoss, use Razor leaf!" screw it, I am just using Ice Beam "Porygon, block it with Ice Beam!" The Ice beam goes through the attack, causing Razor Leaf to be canceled and striking Eldegoss 'How much more until it faints?' Eldegoss is staggered "Don't miss this time, Porygon." Porygon creates a hail of ice, that for once, hits its mark, the torrent of ice that surrounds Eldegoss "Eldegoss, get out of there!' Eldegoss tried but failed to get out, the ice surrounded Eldegoss, chipping away at it after the ice cleared, the battlefield was silent, and everyone besides me held their breath, Eldegoss stood and tried to walk to Porygon, but finally Eldegoss fell to the grass, unconscious. "Eldegoss is unable to continue battling, the winner of this match goes to Trainer William Brown!" Well, that was more intense than I expected it to be, probably because Porygon had a stormtrooper aim "And that's a warp, folks! Porygon, against all odds, survived Max Overgrowth and defeated Eldegoss without even Dynamaxing!" The small crowd cheered, and I think I heard Jaime shout "I knew you could do it! from the stands. "I knew you would win, I saw lots of potential in you" Milo walked towards me "It would be a shame if you lost such potential, so please, always remain humble." He stopped right in front of me "So please, accept this badge." He held out his hand with the Grass badge, I took his hand and shook it "You will need this badge and seven more to complete the Gym Circuit, I look forward to seeing you in the ChampionCup next year." After shaking his hand, I received the Grass Badge, I can now buy Great Balls! I walked out of the stadium to meet with Jaime outside "Wait up" The receptionist ran towards me "Here, Gym leader Milo meant to give you this." The receptionist gave me a TM and a uniform "This TM here is the TM for Magical Leaf and here is the Grass uniform." Oh yeah, didn't Milo give the protagonist these items in the game, I guess it is universal with every challenger that beats him "Thank you, ma'am." The receptionist went back to her post. "Dude! That was so cool!" Jaime said "Thanks, and are these your friends behind you?" He nodded "How did you beat him without Dynamxing? Spamming ice-type moves, but I could not tell him that "Porygon is one hell of a fighter." He nodded "So off to Hulbury now?" If I wanted to follow the traditional Gym Circuit, then yes "Yup." He smiled "Then, before you go, I want you to have this" He gave me an Exp candy "I don't need this anymore, I think you would find a use for it." I smiled too "Thank you, even though I only knew you for a few days, you're a good friend." Before parting ways "Don't forget me!" He said "I won't! I responded back.
I walked back to the Pokemon Center to get my Pokémon healed 'You did well Rolycoly.' After handing my Pokéballs to Nurse Joy, I waited for a bit before getting them back. After getting them back I went to my room and released both Porygon and Rolycoly "Alright guys, we did it, the first gym is down." Porygon simply nodded and Rolycoly happily cheered "However, let's not get too cocky here, this is only the beginning, this and the next gym may be easy, but the rest won't be so forgiving, we have hard trials ahead of us." They both look at me, waiting for my next words "But remember, success is not final and failure is not fatal, it is the will to continue that counts." Rolycoly took the advice to heart, meanwhile, Porygon just stared at me, unimpressed, with a look that says 'I know who you quoted that from." Well, too bad, I'm still going to quote people.
"So, Rolycoly, eat this." Rolycoly, simply knew to trust my actions at this point, ate the EXP candy 'Cmon, cmon, evolve!' Nothing happened 'Ah, probably just not enough experience y-" A flash of white light covered Rolycoly's body,' Never mind, he's going to evolve.' Rolycoly's body started to expand and grow, and after a while, the white light disappeared, what remained was no longer Rocly, but Carkol. "Carkol!, Car!, Carkol!" Carkol ran around the room in happiness, yet also realized that he was a lot bigger than before, Porygon congratulated him, while I prepared for our next gym battle, 'Hmm, I don't know about my Pokémon abilities, to quote Sun Tzu once more 'If you know the enemy and know yourself, you need not fear the result of a hundred battles.If you know yourself but not the enemy, for every victory gained you will also suffer a defeat.' And that was my current problem, I do not know their ability or stats, as I am still using base stats as a reference. I took my laptop out of my backpack and searched "Where to find your Pokémon health record/ stats and ability." I quickly found out that BattleNet is the only public source for this information. I clicked on my BattleNet tab and searched up my name and actually found a result 'Page made one hour ago? strange.' I checked the page a bit to confirm that this was a page about me and not another William Brown 'Everything seems to add up.'I then clicked on the part of my page to show the details.

Analysis of William's preferred tactics is immediately striking the opponent before proceeding to wait defensively for the opponent to show any signs of weakness or opening, if the opponent shows any sign of weaknesses, William will immediately exploit it to his fullest capabilities, making sure the opponent is thoroughly pummelled into submission, from where on he will keep throwing attacks at the opponent until they fall, however, should they recover, he will either go back to waiting until the opponent shows any sign of weakness or he will attempt end the round will a powerful move.

I did not know that Jaimes was a BattleNet moderator, the more you know I guess. Now I actually know my Pokémon abilities, for Porygon I already knew it was Download, but I did not know that Rolycoly now Carkol has Steam Engine 'This will make for some good plays' But I have to know, where did he get this information? Hack my Pokémon medical records? That will be for future me to decide, right now I needed some sleep. I turned off my laptop and returned Porygon and Carkol to their Pokéball. I got on my bed and my last thought before I went to sleep was 'Nessa is so screwed.' then, sleep took over.
