In the rubble of a testing area, the examinees had all crowded around, shrugging off the effects of Recovery Girl's treatment. Sato only wore his underwear and left sock, and he sported a spectacular black eye given to him by God himself. Kaminari drooled and gave off the occasional spark, and Iida alternated between politely chatting with his neighbors and ranting about the evils of medical fraud.
Nezu addressed the crowd from his nest in Aizawa's scarf. "Thank you all for gathering here. Normally, we would send you all on your way and give you the results next week, but given the unusual circumstances this time around, we're trying a different approach."
"What were those other robots even worth?"
Nezu shrugged. "Before we ask that, why don't we have a show of hands? Who doesn't want to enter our hero program?"
The students, exhausted and traumatized by the robot invasion, raised hands in droves. "Excellent! You're all dismissed."
Mineta, trapped between a rock and a hard place, or in other words, Kirishima and Tetsutetsu, struggled with tears streaming down his face to join the flock of students heading for the gate, but the hardening duo proved too solid for him to budge. Koda, too timid to raise his hand or speak out, remained nervously rooted at the spot, staring Nezu as though the principal were about to chew off his feet.
Nezu did a quick headcount. "That leaves exactly thirty-six of you left. Congratulations! You're all accepted."
"What about our test scores?" Mina asked. "I'll be honest, I think I failed."
"Irrelevant! U.A. always takes the top thirty-six applicants, with four recommended by heroes. As you're the only ones left, the points and tests don't matter."
"How imprudent of you!" Iida cried. "You stoop to accept those unworthy of U.A.'s lofty standards simply because they are all that remain? It's a disgrace to-" Iida slouched over as his voice trailed off. "Actually, I don't see why it's a big deal. They're still here, so why not?" Iida shook himself. "No, standards must be maintained!" He shrugged. "It's not like there's anyone else to pick from." Standing straighter, Iida said, "Then take only the finest that remain! U.A. is the bastion of the hero world and must remain selective with its candidates for the sake of hero society!"
Recovery Girl walked forward, gummy in hand. "Oh dear, still seems like you're out of sorts. Here, have another one."
Iida relaxed after Recovery Girl shoved the candy in his mouth. Nezu grinned and said, "Right, we'll mail you your acceptance letters. See you all in the spring!"
Once the students filed out, Nezu turned towards Cementoss. "Ishiyama-san, be sure to put the cities back the way they were, alright? We'll need them for classes tomorrow."
Cementoss stared at block after block of rubble and broken robots. With a heartfelt sigh, the Cement Hero molded new buildings from the wreckage.
