AN: Since it has already been a year since I finished writing my Light in the Darkness fanfic, I thought it was about time I worked on the sequel! Just like the first story, this story would involve Molly and Libby meeting various Disney characters! I hope you enjoy this new story of mine!
Chapter 1
The Darkness Returns
It has been a year since Molly McGee and Libby Stein-Torres went on a journey through multiple worlds together to save Brighton from the darkness. One day when Molly and Libby were going to have their date together, Brighton was taken over by a bunch of shadow monsters known as the Heartless. The only way to save their home was to wield the keyblades that they earned to destroy the darkness that was plaguing other worlds.
Throughout their adventure, Molly and Libby met all kinds of wonderful friends, but also fearsome enemies. No enemy was worse than Molly and Libby's arch nemesis, Xehanort. Xehanort had constantly caused all kinds of hell for the two of them throughout their journey. In the end, Molly and Libby were finally able to defeat Xehanort and save their home from the darkness.
Ever since their journey ended, Molly and Libby had not seen a single Heartless and had no need to wield their keyblades. Now, neither of them even thought about the Heartless as they both happily walked through the park of Brighton, admiring the sunset in the distance. After their long walk, they both sat down on a bench together to take a rest.
"The end of another wonderful day!" Molly relaxed right next to her girlfriend. "I'm glad that we got to have an amazing date today, Libby!"
"Me too, Molly!" Libby agreed. "Today has been the perfect day!"
The two girlfriends snuggled up close to one another as they enjoyed the sunset. It wasn't long before Molly and Libby were startled when a certain cat-like spirit appeared in front of them.
"Oh, hello, Chirithy!" Molly waved towards her friend.
"Hello, Molly and Libby! I see that you two are enjoying your day together!" Chirithy noticed.
Libby nodded. "Of course! Molly always knows how to make my day fun and exciting! What about you, Chirithy? How has living with the McGees been for you?"
"I can't complain. I'd take living with the McGees over being stranded in the Final World any day! Although, living with Scratch can be kind of a pain because he always swipes my snacks away from me when I just want to relax! No offense, Molly, but your ghost friend can be kind of rude!" Chirithy complained.
"Yeah, that's Scratch! Don't worry, though. I know that it has been a year since you started living with us, but I'm sure you would warm up to Scratch eventually." Molly assured.
"You know, I still can't believe that it has already been a year since we defeated Xehanort and saved the world." Libby commented. "We have been through a lot during our journey!"
At the mention of their journey, Molly thought back to a year ago where she and Libby traveled to multiple worlds and met all kinds of amazing new friends. Molly missed all of them, but was happy knowing that all of their worlds were safe.
"I find it hard to believe that a year has passed too! It was really fun getting to know all of our friends from different worlds! I hope we get to see them again soon!" Molly hoped before noticing that the sun was about to set. "It seems to be getting dark soon. Do you want me to escort you home, Libby?"
"Sure, I appreciate it Molly!" Libby replied with a thankful smile.
With that, Molly and Libby stood up from the bench as they were about to return home. However, before they left the park, they suddenly felt a dark presence. Something that they haven't felt in a long time. Fearing the worst, Molly and Libby looked around before a bunch of Heartless appeared out of nowhere.
The presence of the Heartless caused everyone at the park to scream and panic. As the Heartless began to attack, Molly and Libby stared in shock, trying to comprehend what they were seeing.
"Wh-What? The Heartless are back?" Molly asked in disbelief.
"How is this possible? We defeated the Heartless a year ago!" Libby explained, feeling just as confused as Molly.
Before Molly and Libby could question it for another second, Chirithy called out for them. "Hey, don't just stand there! Summon your keyblades!"
Without wasting another second, Molly and Libby immediately summoned their keyblades. Neither of them would have guessed that they would need to use their keyblades again, but everyone in Brighton was in trouble and they had to save their friends.
The two girlfriends charged into battle, swinging their keyblades at the Heartless. Since it has been a year since the last time they fought Heartless, Molly and Libby's fighting skills were a little rusty. They forgot a lot of the spells they had learned in their last journey, so they mostly relied on slashing the Heartless with their keyblades. Molly and Libby defeated the Heartless one by one, only for more Heartless to take their place. This caused the girls to get more tired and frustrated.
"Oh, come on! Why are there so many Heartless?" Libby complained.
"Just hang in there a little bit longer, Libby! The Heartless have to go away eventually!" Despite her best efforts to be positive, even Molly is starting to wonder when this will end.
It wasn't long before Molly and Libby found themselves surrounded by the Heartless. Just when it seemed like there was going to be no end to them, a large amount of Heartless suddenly disappeared from the impact of a fire spell. This confused Molly and Libby since neither of them casted the spell.
Suddenly, a mysterious boy joined in on the fight as he stood next to Molly and Libby in the center of the Heartless. The boy had silver colored hair and wore a dark coat with straps at the front of his chest to form a cross. Much to Molly and Libby's surprise, the boy wielded a keyblade in his hands just like them.
"Can you two still fight?" The boy asked Molly and Libby.
"Y-Yes. We appreciate the help." Molly replied, still surprised by the presence of the boy.
With the boy's help, Molly and Libby were able to turn the tide on the Heartless. All three of them continued to slash their keyblades until not a single Heartless could be found. With the Heartless now gone, Molly and Libby were finally able to relax.
"Whew! Thanks for the help!" Libby thanked to boy with an exhausted sigh. "Who knows what would have happened if you hadn't come to help!"
The boy soon brought his attention to the keyblades in Molly and Libby's hands. "I see that you two are keyblade wielders as well."
"That's right! We kind of got our keyblades about a year ago!" Molly explained. "My name is Molly McGee, and this is my girlfriend, Libby Stein-Torres! We also can't forget about our wonderful friend, Chirithy!" Molly picked up Chirithy in her hands as she introduced them to the boy. "You must be new here, so as a fellow Brightonion, let me be the first to welcome you to Brighton, home of the turnip!"
"Uh, thanks, I guess." the boy said, weirded out by Molly's cheerful and optimistic attitude.
As she gazed at the boy, there was something about him that didn't seem right to Libby. She felt as though she had seen him before, but didn't know from where.
"Hey, there is something about you that seems familiar." Libby said.
This time, Molly gazed at the boy and started to find him to be familiar as well. She didn't know how since she just met him.
"Have we met before? What is your name?" Molly asked the boy.
What the boy said next filled Molly and Libby's hearts with fear and dread.
"My name is Xehanort."
