Khalid's POV
Coulson and I had just pulled up to their household. I quickly hopped out of the car and ran to the door. I couldn't wait to tell Alexis; she was my biggest supporter in everything I did. As much as I cared for Coulson, it was her approval I sought the most. Before I could open the door, Aunt Lizzy and Mrs. Stacy opened it.
"Oh, Khalid! How are you?!" Lizzy squealed in excitement as she scooped me up into a bear hug. What's with this family and their freakish grip strength?
"That's enough, Liz, the boy is turning blue," Mrs. Stacy said with amusement in her voice. Lizzy loosened her hold.
"Sorry about that, Khal. Hey Phil! How are you?" she said, and I turned my head to see Coulson standing behind me.
"Good to see you, Elizabeth. You too, Helen," Coulson said cheerfully. "I didn't know you guys were stopping by today."
"Yeah, thought we would check up on Alexis and see how our little ninja is doing," said Helen as she reached up and ruffled my hair. I giggled before the scent of chocolate hit my nose. Lizzy must have noticed the change in my facial expression before putting me down.
"Go ahead, your mom baked you a cake," she said, smiling before I took off for the kitchen. Inside, Alexis was spreading the frosting on top of a beautiful chocolate cake. My mouth instantly began to water. Alexis looked up at me and smiled.
"Hi, baby, come sit next to me. I'm almost done. While I'm doing this, tell me about the exam," she said, her smile never dropping from her face. I moved quickly to sit next to her and began to tell her about the exam and the tour of the school.
For the past hour, Magneto had listened to Ogun explain what a ninja was and their known function was in known history. This was something he could have learned from a history book. It wasn't until Ogun started to piece together that maybe the myths behind shinobi abilities may be linked to mutants. The powers that Ogun described of this Orochimaru character indicated he was at least an Omega level mutant, a skilled one at that. To possess abilities of a snake and the ability to summon snakes was astounding. Magneto knew he had to find this man and bring him into the Brotherhood.
"That's all I have on the matter. I have my people in Japan trying to track his whereabouts and see if they can find out what he is planning," Ogun said. Magneto could see that Ogun wanted him to say he would help capture this man, but...
"This is all interesting, but I think you and Charles have forgotten that I want mutant kind to have a place in the open. If this man has plans to do that, then I will side with him. But if he plans on harming our kind, then I will join you," explained Magneto.
"But Eric, I'm telling you this man is not a mutant. I don't know what he is, but he is a danger to us all. Whatever he has planned needs to be stopped," Ogun said. Magneto could hear the pleading in his voice and found it disgusting.
"Maybe, but I'll figure this out with my people. I will not be a part of your petty revenge. Unless he threatens mutants. Just because he hurt your pride doesn't mean I will make him my enemy because of it," Magneto said coldly. "Contact me again, and I will visit your little prize student." He watched as Ogun's eyes flashed a blood red when he said this.
"How do you know about him?" Ogun asked coldly.
"The homo sapiens aren't the only ones that have spies," Magneto said back calmly. Ogun stood up with so much force that his chair fell back a few meters.
"What makes you think I wouldn't kill the both of you where you sit? How dare you threaten what is mine!? You think I don't know where the woman you sent off is, Eric? Or your twins?" Ogun said venomously before turning to Mystique, "Or your daughter, Raven?"
"You bastard!" Mystique growled out. She was about to attack, but Magneto held his hand up in front of her.
"He is only trying to get under our skins," Magneto said as he willed a thick metal panel to rip away from a nearby building and float down in front of Mystique.
"Eric, you're making a mistake. This man is dangerous for our people and needs to be stopped," Ogun said, his eyes returning to blue.
"I will be the judge of that myself," Magneto said before Mystique got on the platform, and they left with the feeling of Ogun's intense glare on their backs.
Alexis sat there, happy to hear the excitement in Khalid's voice as he talked about his day. Being the first to ace the entrance exam and the tour of the campus. She was pleased to hear the wonder in his voice, like how a child's voice is supposed to be. She just wanted a normal life for her little boy.
"I'm so proud of you. Don't worry, you can have the room next to yours for your lab, but no blowing up the house," she said with a smile on her face.
"Why does everyone think I'm going to blow up something?" Khalid said, puffing out his cheeks.
"That's because you're five years old," Lizzy said as she walked into the kitchen.
Alexis looked up and saw that Lizzy was alone, which confused her. She asked, "Where's Phil and Helen?"
"Oh, Phil asked if the twins and Gwen wanted to stay over for the weekend. We said yes. Phil took Helen to get the kids from school since they have half days on Friday. Their school isn't far from here," Lizzy explained. Alexis turned to see Khalid's eyes twinkling. She smiled at the excitement in her child's eyes.
"Alright! I can see if they kept up with their training," Khalid said excitedly. Lizzy sighed.
"I'm hoping some of your big brain rubs off on them," Lizzy said jokingly. "I would be happy if you all went to Horizon." Khalid turned to her.
"I can help them with that if you want me to," Khalid said as if it was an easy task. Both adults looked at him in shock.
"Really?" Alexis asked curiously.
"Yeah, I'm sure if I promise to teach them some more martial arts as a reward, they can do it. Besides, it would be great if all of us can go there at the same time," Khalid replied cheerfully. Lizzy smiled brightly at him.
"I won't pressure you, Khal, but if you can help them, I will appreciate it," Lizzy said sincerely.
"Consider it done, Aunt Liz!" Khalid said cheerfully and gave her a salute. Alexis and Lizzy couldn't help but chuckle at her son's antics. Just then, the sound of the front door opening could be heard. Alexis could hear the tiny feet running towards the kitchen.
"Khalid! I heard you got into the school for smart kids!" Rowan said excitedly.
"Yeah! Are you still gonna help us be a ninja like you?" Harry asked with the same level of excitement as his twin.
"Can you help me get in too, Khalid? I wanna go to the same school as Khalid, mommy!" Gwen said in the most excitement Alexis had seen the girl muster.
"Me too!" the twins said in unison. Alexis looked up to see Phil and Helen walking into the kitchen. Phil walked straight up to her and gave her a swift kiss.
"Hello, beautiful," he said softly.
"Hi, handsome," she replied back and smiled. "I made Khalid a cake to celebrate," she gestured towards it on the countertop. He smiled at her sweetly.
"I know he'll love it," Coulson replied, never breaking eye contact with her. Alexis could feel her heart beating like a drum. At that moment, it was only them in the world. She still didn't understand how he could do that to her so easily. It wasn't until they heard a cough that they broke each other's gaze.
"Glad to have you join us again," Helen said playfully. Alexis's face reddened from embarrassment.
"I really wish James would look at me like that. I would be pregnant again," Lizzy said, fanning herself. Phil put back on his business face before he spoke again.
"Anyway, I'll be home at about eight. The boss wants to go over his last meeting with the board. It was nice seeing you ladies again," Phil said as he gave Alexis a kiss on the cheek and left. As soon as she heard the door close, Alexis noticed that the kids were gone.
"Where are the kids?" she asked, trying to get the conversation flowing again.
"They went to the training room. Khalid said once you two get like that, it's best to leave before it gets weirder," Lizzy said, barely holding in her laugh at the end. Helen joined her. Alexis only sighed; she knew she was in for a long day until these two go home.
Khalid's POV
I sat on the mat in the training room with Gwen and the twins in front of me. Even without flowing their chakra, I could feel the strong spirit of Gwen, and the twins were just as determined. I really wanted to unlock their chakra now, but how would I get them to keep quiet.
"Khalid, are you okay?" Gwen asked, turning her head to the side. I sighed.
"I'm just trying to think of a training plan to get you guys into Horizon," I lied. I already knew Gwen was smart enough for their first-grade selection. The twins were smart but they lacked focus, but what could you expect with 5-year-olds. Running out of ideas, I finally made a decision.
"Don't move, I'll be right back. I need to use the bathroom," I said as I got up and walked to the bathroom in the training room. I locked the door as soon as it closed. I pressed the button for the Time Chamber. I blinked and was once again looking at the endless white void.
"Iruka sensei!" I shouted. I turned around to look around the living quarters.
"Yes?" That caused me to jump back. I looked at Iruka, who had popped up behind me.
"Can you not do that?" I said angrily. Iruka just stood there laughing. I could see where Naruto got his pranking spirit from.
"I'm sorry. I couldn't help it. Maybe you should take a sensory scroll with you," said Iruka. That wasn't a bad idea, but that wasn't why I was here.
"I will, Sensei, but I have a question," I said.
"Ask away, Khalid," he replied quickly.
"Can the spirits of the Time Chamber cast a genjutsu that can last in the real world?" I asked seriously. I watched as Iruka's smile faded.
"Why would you want to do that, Khalid?" Iruka asked with concern in his voice.
"I have people that I want to unlock chakra in, but they are young and I don't know if they will be able to keep their mouths closed about our abilities," I explained.
"Well, isn't this interesting," I heard a second voice behind me. I turned to see All in a black t-shirt and white leather pants and jacket. "I'll allow it. If you make Genin by the age of seven."
I glared at the god. He always seemed to get in my way. Why was All interfering now of all times?
"No need to look at me like that. I know you're not ready, hence why I said seven. To make it even more interesting, if you do it before you reach seven, I will grant you another wish," All said as if he didn't notice my distaste for him. Though the extra wish did seem like a good idea. That would make one of my wishlist plans available to me. Maybe I could push for more.
"Make it two wishes," I countered. All's smile faded from his face. He walked closer towards me. I prepared to be crushed by whatever power he had. When he was within a step of me, he stopped.
"Are you sure you want to do this, boy? I will not make it any easier for you," All said sternly. I nodded. All smiled again and spoke, "Very well. You will take an exam of my choosing."
"Fine. I accept," I said coldly. All smiled evilly. Whatever kind of god he was, he wasn't a good one.
"I'm looking forward to the entertainment you're about to provide me," All said before fading out of existence like he never existed. I sighed before I felt a hand clasp on my head. I looked up and saw Iruka with an angry look on his face.
"Don't worry, I'll help you out, Khalid. I don't care if he's a God or not, but he's trying to take away your childhood. I won't stand for it. I swear as a shinobi of Konoha, I will make sure you are the strongest genin to ever graduate from under my tutelage," Iruka said with conviction in his voice.
For my sake, I hope he was right. "Come, Khalid, I have something to give you," Iruka said, guiding me to the library section of the Time Chamber. He instructed me to sit, which I did. I saw he went through each of the elemental jutsu, the theory, and fuinjutsu section.
He placed 15 books in front of me and sat down. Iruka stared at me intently and began to speak, "These are five books about more advanced chakra control techniques. I know that because of your combination of bloodlines, you may be the strongest shinobi chakra-wise to be born. At 5 years old, your chakra is as large as a high-level genin, but learning your skills on your own may stunt your shinobi training a bit. But if my guess is right, you're going to need to get your taijutsu up to par and add a few more ninjutsu under your belt. How many ninjutsu do you know?"
"I've mastered the academy techniques, learned five C-rank ninjutsu from each element, and two genjutsu, one C-Rank and one B-rank," I told the instructor.
"Good. I'm glad to see you gave me just enough information to keep me guessing. Very shinobi-like," Iruka said with a smile. "Well, I also added 5 elemental ninjutsu in here. Two books on beginner's medical ninjutsu. A book on how to make soldier pills from the Akimichi Clan, and lastly, the flower log book of the Yakamama so you can grow the ingredients for the pills," Iruka explained.
I soaked in every word. I had already known that soldier pills were the only thing not found in the shinobi storage room. I had already given up on even using them.
"Lastly, I think you should spend a full year here. You'll have to find a way to get away from your family one day before you have to take the exam. That way you can polish off your techniques with me and test yourself against one of the other beings here," Iruka explained.
I nodded at him. He was right, but how to accomplish that with Coulson getting him a bodyguard for school. He had to think of a way to get away without drawing any suspicion. He had a year and eleven months to get ready for All's challenge.
Gwen sat there quietly, waiting for Khalid to come back and see how they would perform against him. However, all they did was sit there while she thought about something. After a while, Khalid had gone into the bathroom a minute ago after telling them to stay still. The twins were talking about a cartoon they watched on Saturdays, but Gwen wasn't interested; she just wanted to learn more about the Gentle Fist. Whenever she practiced it, it felt as if her body was made for it. The way her body flowed seamlessly between the forms and stances was natural to her. Her father had said she looked like a dancer when he saw her on the roof of their apartment building practicing. She loved when her father praised her, so she wanted to improve.
After a few moments, Khalid came back out of the bathroom, but Gwen noticed that he didn't flush the toilet nor did she hear water running to indicate that he washed his hands. This was unusual because Khalid always washed his hands. He looked troubled by something, like he was planning something. Gwen observed that he was holding a scroll in his hands. 'Where did he get that from?' Gwen thought.
"You guys, can we spar later? I have to talk to my dad before he leaves," Khalid said before running up the stairs to head to the kitchen.
"Aw man, I was gonna show him this awesome move I made up at recess yesterday," said Rowan sadly.
"Maybe when he's done, he can show us more ninja stuff," Harry said to cheer his brother up. Gwen just sat there, wondering why Khalid's mood had shifted so quickly.
