**THIRD PERSON POV**
Jotaro was given a very cryptic message from a girl crying for help. It didn't help that they were in the middle of one of the worst snowstorms Morioh has had within the past 12 years. Meaning that if she was outside, it would be hard to find and get to her.
There were hundreds of phone boxes scattered around Morioh, and going to everyone was not a possibility. Kujo had only one option: to go to one of the most reliable stand users he knows.
Koichi Hirose.
Jotaro got into a taxi at his hotel, told the driver Koichi's address and told him to hurry.
Each few minutes that passed, Jotaro glanced at his watch.
Three minutes.
Five minutes
Seven minutes.
Each minute that passed left him more anxious than the last.
Once he got to the Hirose residence, Jotaro rang the doorbell. A few moments later, the short gray-haired teen opened the door. "Jotaro? What are you doing here? We're in the middle of a snowstorm."
"Wait, Jotaro's here?" A voice called out from the hallway. Okuyasu entered the hallway and ran up to Koichi. He was holding a cup of hot chocolate and two DVD boxes. "Are you here to watch a movie with us?"
"No. Kuroko and Josuke were attacked. I need to know where they are."
"They were attacked?!" Koichi yelled. Okuyasu was taken aback as well.
"Kuroko called me and said she was at a phone box at the bottom of a hill. Do you have any idea where that is?"
"Josuke was going to take Kuro up a hill near Rohan's house!" Okuyasu told him, his voice sounding panicky.
"Thank you. We have to go now. Before the storm gets any worse."
The three of them got into the taxi. Koichi told the taxi driver the direct location of the hill and Rohan's house. As they traveled up the inclined road, the road got more narrow and rougher. Then, a red motorcycle could be seen in front of a deep pothole, broken and battered up.
"There's Josuke's motorcycle!" Koichi pointed out. Jotaro told the driver to immediately stop and let the three of them out. The red motorcycle was stranded in the middle of the icy road, showing no signs of Kuroko or Josuke.
"Spread out," Jotaro ordered the teens. "Look for any clues. We need to know the direction Kuroko went."
Okuyasu and Koichi followed his orders, looking for something, anything that would be a lead.
"Jotaro!" Koichi yelled. "I found a red hat!"
Jotaro rushed to Koichi and snatched the hat from him. The size of the red hat was relatively small. It had to be Kuroko's. "Kuroko said that she was at the bottom of a hill. This way!"
The three of them stomped through the snow down the hill, each step being harder than the last. It didn't help that they were going against the icy wind. Once they got to the bottom, they saw what Kuroko was talking about.
A phone box at the bottom of a hill.
But no one was at it.
"Start digging through the snow," Jotaro ordered as he did so himself. "The two of them have to be underneath it."
All of them were urgently and frantically digging through the icy powder until Jotaro found a single finger poking out of the snow. He summoned Star Platinum, lifted the hand out of the snow and laid the body on top.
It was Josuke. His fingers and lips were light blue, showing obvious signs of hypothermia. He checked his pulse and breathing to find that it was slow, but not life-threatening. He shook the teen's body. "Josuke! Hey!"
No response.
"Jotaro!" Koichi yelled. "I found Kuro! She's barely breathing!"
"What?!"
Jotaro stomped through the thick snow to Koichi to see Kuroko, her sweater coated in her own blood. "Hey! Kuro!" He called out as he shook her shoulder gently.
No response either.
His left hand immediately went to her neck to check her pulse and his right hand brushed against her nose. Koichi was right. Her pulse was slow and barely any air was coming out of her nose. Although he wasn't a doctor, from his time in college Jotaro did study biology. He could maybe save her life, at least, not in this snowstorm.
"We need to get the two of them out of here!" He yelled at Koichi.
"Rohan's house should be close by! We can take the two of them there."
Jotaro gently picked up Kuroko's lifeless body bridal style, making sure not to open up her wounds anymore. Okuyasu lifted up Josuke's body and carried him on his back. The three of them stomped through the blizzard towards the mangaka's house, hoping that they could save both of their lives.
Once they got there, the group of stand users waited impatiently at Rohan's door after Jotaro rang the doorbell several times and banged on the door. When the mangaka finally answered, Jotaro pushed him to the side and ran into the house carrying Kuroko. "Move!"
"Hey! You can't just barge in," the mangaka started to say, only for his sentence to be stopped, realizing that Jotaro was laying down Kuro's injured body on his carpet. Okuyasu followed behind him, placing Josuke's body on the couch. "What the hell happened?"
"The two of them were attacked." Jotaro said as he took off his jacket. "Get me a first aid kit! Or bandages! Anything!"
"My house isn't a doctor's office! I don't have a first aid kit!"
"Then get me some towels and scissors damnit!"
"R-right!" Rohan ran out of room to get the requested items.
Jotaro turned to Okuyasu. "Keep trying to wake Josuke up. He needs to heal Kuroko." He then turned to Koichi. "Call the hospital and tell them we need two ambulances."
Jotaro finally got a chance to inspect Kuroko's injuries. There were multiple stab wounds on her chest, arms, legs and stomach. Three knives were poking out of both of her legs and one on her shoulder. What worried him the most was a single black knife lodged into her chest. It couldn't be more than 10 centimeters long, but it was stuck right next to where her heart is. If her heart stopped, he wouldn't be able to give her a heart massage.
"Josuke!" Okuyasu yelled while he shook his best friend. "Wake up, damnit! Kuro needs your help! You need to heal her!" Josuke's pale body laid there silently. "You're seriously going to nap while the girl you love bleeds to death? Get up jackass!" Okuyasu slapped Josuke's face, but got no response. "Jotaro! He's not waking up!"
Rohan ran back into the room holding the items Jotaro requested and placed them on the floor. "Here."
Koichi ran back into the room as well. "I just called the hospital. They said that they'll be here in 20 minutes."
20 minutes? Jotaro bit his lip. He didn't think she could stay with them for ten minutes. He took the scissors and delicately snipped Kuroko's red sweater open, exposing the wounds on her chest. He then took one of the towels and compressed it on one of the biggest wounds on her stomach. The towel quickly soaked up her blood.
"Rohan sensei, can't you do anything?" Koichi asked.
The mangaka clenched his hand into a fist. "My stand has its limitations. Heaven's Door can't heal people like Josuke's stand."
"Then make Josuke wake up!" Okuyasu yelled. "That should work, right?"
"Okuyasu is right," Jotaro added, his hand still on Kuroko's stomach. "Force him to wake up, now!"
"Right!" Rohan got on his knees, summoned Heaven's Door and wrote and opened a page on Josuke's face.
"Josuke Higashikata will wake up."
Instantly, Josuke's eyes opened. A smile spread on Okuyasu and Koichi's faces. "Josuke! You're awake!" Koichi shook Josuke's shoulders. He then turned Josuke's head to face Kuroko's body. "You need to use Crazy Diamond to heal Kuro! She won't make it if you don't"
Josuke's eyes stared at Kuroko showing no signs of life or consciousness, as if he was a doll. Koichi shook Josuke once more. "Josuke! Why won't you wake up?!"
"He's probably being affected by some stand," Rohan said. "Meaning Heaven's Door can't do anything."
"That must mean the stand user is close by!" Okuyasu yelled. He got up and ran into the hallway and summoned The Hand, ready to fight.
"Hold on Okuyasu." Jotaro spoke. "The user can't be nearby. We're in the middle of a snowstorm."
"But!"
"There's no point in looking for them. We don't know where they are or what their stand's range is. The best thing we can do is focus on keeping Kuroko alive." Jotaro tossed one of the blood-soaked up towels and grabbed a clean one to compress on her stomach. "This is bad. She's losing too much blood, and I can't compress on her chest if she stops breathing."
Then, Jotaro had an idea. It could cost her life, but it's now or nothing. If he doesn't do something, she will die on them.
Jotaro looked at Rohan. "Use Heaven's Door and make Kuroko wake up."
Rohan looked at Jotaro in confusion. "Are you crazy? She's injured! Do you realize how much pain she'll be in if she wakes up?"
"It doesn't matter. Do it now!"
Rohan bowed his head in frustration. He finally gave into Jotaro's request, bent down next to Kuroko, summoned Heaven's Door and wrote: "Kuroko Izumi will stay awake for the next 12 hours."
Immediately, Kuroko's eyes shot open. Her eyeballs darted around the room, trying to understand the situation she was in. "Where…am…I?" She whispered, struggling to speak.
Jotaro used his hands to cup both of Kuroko's cheeks. "Kuroko, listen to me. Right now you have a knife lodged into your chest. I'm going to pull it out, but once I do, you HAVE to use your stand to make a shield over the wound. Ok?"
In all the pain that she was in, Kuroko only had one thing on her mind. "Where's…Josuke?"
"He's over here." Jotaro turned Kuroko's head so that she could see him being shaken by Okuyasu, who was still trying to wake him up.
"Thank…God," Kuro coughed with blood dripping from her lips. She clenched her palm with her fingers in pain. "It hurts…so much."
"Don't talk! Just promise me you'll cover the wound that I'll make, OK?" He then grabbed the injured girl's hand and placed it next to the knife. "The wound will open up right here. Squeeze my hand to tell me that you're ready."
Kuroko, although in a daze, understood the gist of the situation. She was injured and Jotaro wanted her to stop her from bleeding out. Josuke was next to her but couldn't heal her. Iron Maiden was summoned above her and she squeezed Kujo's hand lightly.
Star Platinum was summoned as well. Jotaro knew that if he did this with his hands, without Star Platinum's pecison, he might hit a vital organ and she would die. And no stand could bring someone back to life. "Ok. I'm about to start." He warned. Star Platinum's hand wrapped around the handle of the knife. Jotaro took a deep breath in, knowing that if he messed this up, he would kill her.
Jotaro started extracting the knife. Immediately, Kuro's body jolted forward as she started to scream. "Koichi! Okuyasu! Hold her down." Jotaro instructed.
Okuyasu held down both of her legs while Koichi held down both of her arms. Blood squirted from the edge of the knife. Screaming turned into whaling as tears began pouring from the injured girl's eyes.
Ten seconds passed and finally, Jotaro pulled the knife that was lodged inside her chest. "Cover the wound now!"
Iron Maiden formed a shield in the shape of the wound and covered it. Her body slacked as she went silent. Okuyasu and Koichi let go of Kuroko's limbs as Jotaro moved his hand onto her neck to check if she was still with them. Her eyes, although still open, stared at the ceiling.
"Is…is she alive?" Okuyasu timidly asked.
"Yeah. She just stopped breathing." Jotaro placed both hands on her chest and started to compress on it to try to force her lungs to move.
A few moments later, she started coughing up even more blood. For the next 20 minutes, Kujo constantly checked Kuroko's heartbeat and used his hands to compress her chest rhythmically as well as use Star Platinum to massage her heart. Her life was in his hands. He was not going to lose her. For her friend's sake. For her sake.
Once the ambulances came, the two of them were carried on stretchers into separate vehicles. Paramedics panicked as they tended to Kuroko's wounds carefully.
Kuroko's ambulance was the first one to arrive at the Budogaoka hospital. Immediately, the staff went into code blue. Multiple doctors and nurses came to tend to Kuroko's wounds as she went into emergency surgery. 10 tense hours passed of surgery and she was finally stabilized.
As the red-haired girl laid in the recovery room, the receptionist and the nurses started to gossip.
"That girl looks familiar."
"Isn't that Dr. Izumi's daughter?"
"What happened to her?"
"I have Dr. Izumi's number. I'll call her to tell her that her daughter is in the hospital"
"I heard from one of the paramedics that she was with a boy."
"Did he do this?"
When Josuke's unconscious body came through 20 minutes later, the rumors only got worse.
"Is that the boy she was with?"
"He looks like a delinquent."
"I would never let my daughter date a boy like that."
"He must've done this."
Doctors treated Josuke with a case of mild hypothermia. They changed his wet clothes into a hospital shirt and pants and wrapped him in blankets. It was a simple solution.
But why wasn't he waking up?
It was as if he was in a deep sleep.
Doctors gave the boy an EEG to check for brain activity. Everything came out as normal. After all the tests, they moved the sleeping boy into a separate recovery room.
By the time the situation calmed down, it was already 4:00 am. Jotaro told Okuyasu and Koichi to go home and rest since there was nothing that they could do. Once one of the doctors that treated Kuroko came out of the recovery wing and into the waiting room, Jotaro walked up to them. "How is Kuroko Izumi?"
"I'm sorry, but who are you?" The doctor asked. "Are you a family member of Kuroko? We do have patient confidentiality after all."
"Let's just say I am a friend of her mom."
The doctor raised an eyebrow. "Are you talking about Dr. Izumi? We have a paper of release to tell us who to give out patient information to. Let me just check that."
Jotaro pulled the hat down on his head. "Good grief." The doctor then went into one of the rooms filled with file cabinets that contained patient information and documentation. He then came out with a clipboard along with the release form and frowned.
"Sorry, but I cannot release any information about Ms. Kuroko. You are not on the list of relatives or friends that I can release information to."
"Check again."
"Excuse me?"
"I said check your release form again?"
The doctor gave him an irritated look. He just checked the paper. There's no way that the contents of the release form could've changed.
Unless…?
The doctor looked at the paper once more. "Huh? But…how could this be? These names weren't on the paper a few seconds ago." He then wiped his thumb over the names on the paper. "The ink even looks fresh. How?!"
"My medical information and other confidential health information may be released to the following:
-Jotaro Kujo
-Josuke Higashikata
-Koichi Hirose
-Okuyasu Nijimura"
The doctor signed in defeat. Maybe he was just seeing things. It's 3:00 am in the morning after all. Although visiting hours were over, he didn't have time for this. He scanned his charts. "Ms. Kuroko Izumi had 13 stab wounds all over the front of her body. Her heart stopped three times in the middle of surgery. Her right lung collapsed when she came into the ER along with a mild case of hypothermia. She's lucky that she survived. Although she's not breathing on her own, she's awake right now and said that she's willing to accept visitors. I'm assuming you want to see her, right?"
"Yes."
"Very well. She's in the recovery room. 1E-14."
Jotaro made his way to her room. He could hear the nurses gossiping about the two teens at the receptionist's desk. Once he got to her room, Jotaro walked in to see his uncle's friend.
Kuroko was lying down on a hospital bed silently. An IV tube was connected to her arm and her mouth was covered with an oxygen ventilator to help her breath. Bandages covered her chest, arms, and legs underneath her hospital gown.
"Kuroko," Jotaro kept his voice low.
The young girl turned her head towards the door. "Jotaro…" she whispered.
Jotaro pulled up one of the guest chairs in the corner and sat down next to her bed. "How are you?"
"I'm…ok…I'm just…tired." Her eyes slowly moved around the room. She only had one thing on her mind. One person that is. "Is…Josuke ok?"
Jotaro gave her a soft smile. "He's fine. He's in his own hospital room. Once he wakes up he'll heal you."
Kuroko's expression relaxed. "Thank god."
Jotaro rubbed her forehead. "You must really like him, don't you?"
"…yeah. I like him. I like him…a lot." Tears began to roll down her cheeks as her lip trembled. "I was…scared. So, so scared. Everything was…so cold. I thought…I thought we were going to die."
Kujo grabbed her hand and squeezed it lightly. "I know. But you can rest now. Everything is ok. Everyone is safe."
She shut her eyes once more before falling into a deep sleep. "Ok."
Everyone was safe now.
Everything would be ok.
