Chapter 18: Another Close Encounter Part 2
With Danny
The "match" had begun and the ghost boy tried to stay out of Mandie's sight and clutches, desperate to win this battle and finally get her out of his hair.
"I just gotta keep away from her until the day is over and then I'm home-free..."Danny thought as he tried to find a hiding spot.
He knew that he can't afford to lose this fight. If he does, then by tomorrow, he'll be on his honeymoon with a demented princess with major anger issues.
The ghost boy jetted around, determined to win as he kept looking for a place to hide. He got an idea as he recalled something from the last time Sam dragged him and Tucker on one of her nature hikes, something he hated until now.
"Let's hope that she's right..."He thought as he flew in that direction, needing to hide until the day and the challenge is over.
A few moments later
He arrived to an open area by the river, one with many leaves and such on the ground. A perfect place to camouflage yourself or something similar.
There, Danny turned invisible, hoping to hide from his alien admirer. He was panting as he tried to hide. He did not see the red beam scanning the woods or her green sunglasses used to track his ecto-energy as he was just desperate to win this duel and get away from that alien princess.
"Come in, go away..."He whispered as he kept his guard up.
"Danny!..."Was heard, making the ghost boy turn pale.
"Oh no!..."Danny thought in dread.
He turned, seeing no one, but a flaming sword in the distance alerted him to the present threat.
"Darling!..."The same voice said, more like a whine as it got closer.
"Where are you, my scrumptious warrior?..."Mandie's voice asked, wanting him. "You're future wife wants to give you a big kiss!..."She said in a sorta teasing way, wanting to find him as soon as possible.
She appeared to the area and Danny did not dare move from his hiding place.
"Stay calm, Fenton. She doesn't know you're here!..."He thought as he covered his mouth and nose with both hands in order to not make any noise.
However, that beam did more than scan. Mandie brings up a device from her pocket, displaying a holo-monitor pointing in the direction of the ghost boy.
"Gotcha!.."She silently cooed before she gave chase, feeling the thrill of the hunt.
She charged and Danny saw her running at him like a cheetah after it's prey.
"Oh no!..."Danny yelled as he began flying away.
Mandie activated her boots and gave chase in the air, grinning in anticipation and the thrill of the hunt.
"I have you now!..." She called out.
"How do you keep finding me?!..."Danny, no longer invisible, yelled as he gained some distance between them.
"We're tied together by the red string of fate, my darling. We'll always find each other, no matter how light years are between us..."Mandie said as she charged at him but Danny tried to keep out of her reach.
"Seriously, how?!..."Danny demanded, tired of her games.
"I was able to pick up the energy you give off. How do you think I found you in the first place?!..."Mandie pointed out like it was obvious.
Danny groaned upon hearing that.
"Ugh... should have stayed in human form..." He muttered as the demented princess continued her pursuit.
He kept trying to keep out of her reach but she wouldn't give up.
You can't escape my love...my darling Danny Phantom..."Mandie said, grinning wickedly as she kept chasing him.
"Do you even know what love is!?..."Danny shouted. "All you've done is chase me relentlessly!..."He shouted at her.
He felt like this was something out of an old cartoon, and even when he was kid, knew there was no love there.
"So what? That's how it's done on Boudacia. Once we get married, you're gonna have to catch up on all our ways and history..."She said, as if that was normal.
"Somehow, she's an even scarier hunter than Skulker and better at this than he is too..."Danny muttered as he kept flying for his life.
However, Mandie cornered him, her flaming sword swinging around, like a snake ready to strike.
Danny, knowing there was no escape right now, blasts the girl back with all his might. The girl tumbles, smiling as she gets up.
"That's more like it!..."She cooed but she saw Danny flying away.
"You're not getting away that easy...I've prepared every detail for this date..."Mandie said, looking confident.
"Some date..."He thought sarcastically as he turned to the girl, showing his angry face.
"Yeah well, I'm saying otherwise! Get lost!..."Danny shouted.
"No way, I am not going to let the only warrior I have ever loved go away!..."Mandie said forcefully.
Danny glared but was floored when he heard what she said.
"What was that?..."He said.
"You heard me. I love you, Danny Phantom, Earth's greatest warrior!..."Mandie said, not attacking but standing her ground.
Not flinching for a single second to indicate that she might be lying. The ghost boy was stunned to say the least and knew right away how wrong she was.
"You don't even know me!..."Danny shouted, knowing that everything she has done can't be love.
"So what? That can easily be fixed...I know I love you, so you'll have to deal with me for eternity..."Mandie said as she continued.
"And I'm sure you mean that with all your heart, assuming you have one!..."Danny said sarcastically as the alien princess tried to close the gap.
"Remember what I said...all I have to do is capture you and you are mine forever..."Mandie said.
"You haven't caught me, yet. Princess Pain-In-My-Butt..."Danny said, not letting his guard down.
"The day isn't over yet, my love. So, let's keep going..."Mandie said, as she pounced at him.
Danny managed to dodge and keep out of her grasp. Mandie tried to reach for him, but he kicked her hand out of the way. Mandie pulled out her plasma sword but Danny thought quick and used his ice powers to make a sword of his own, keeping her at bay at the moment.
"When will you get it?! I don't want anything to do with you!..."Danny shouted as he blocked her attacks.
"And when will you get that I don't take no for an answer?!..."Mandie shouted as she tried again but with the same results.
"Fine, then I'll just knock you out and make you leave! So get ready to wake up hours later!..."Danny said, as he tried to fight back.
"Not without you..."Mandie said in a less affectionate way.
That's when she used her secret weapon. While Danny was distracted trying to block her own sword, the evil alien princess decided to tip things in her favor by firing a dart at his arm.
"AH!..."Danny yelled as he was hit by the piercing into his skin.
"Gotcha!..."Mandie said with a smirk as he fell to his knees.
Danny yanked the dart out, hissed in pain and began to feel odd now.
"W-what was that?..." He asked, feeling weak now.
"Venom from a type of insect we Boudacians have enslaved called the "Warnet". Don't worry, it's not deadly, it'll just keep you incapacitated for a few minutes...long enough for me to chain you up and get you back on the ship..."Mandie said with a sadistic look on her face.
"Y-You cheated!..."Danny said in a pained voice.
"I did what I had to do..."Mandie said as her face went from sadistic to enamored. "Now, I have plenty of time to enjoy before I take you home. I promise that I'll be gentle, until the earth's sun goes down..."She whispered tenderly as she planted another kiss on his non-resisting form.
"I gotta get out of this!..."Danny thought as he tried to move.
"Uh uh..." Mandie said as she struck a blow to the head with her hand, knocking Danny out.
With that, she lifted him over her shoulder.
"Looks like I won, darling..."Mandie said smugly to his unconscious form.
She was about to go to her ship to chain him up, only for someone to crash the scene.
"Hmm...impressive...although I'd expect nothing else from royalty..."A new voice was heard.
"WHO'S THERE?!..."Mandie shouted, getting angry.
"No need to be alarm, your highness. I come in peace..."Was heard.
Mandie noticed the vampiric ghost floating over to her. The girl put up her guard, thinking it was either an enemy or another unwanted suitor but then figured it wasn't likely, giving that he was clearly much older than her.
"Who are you?!..."Mandie said aggressively, keeping her sword up.
"Oh...hello...I am Plasmius, Vlad Plasmius and I might say that I am a huge fan of your work..."Vlad said in his brown nosing way.
Mandie frowned.
She didn't like brown nosers and she knew this guy wanted something but whatever it is, the man kept it close to the vest. His smile showed power, probably more than he let on.
"I am Princess Mandie, crown Princess of the Boudacian empire..."Mandie said as she kept on the defensive, suspicious of the newcomer.
"I know...and I welcome you to our corner of the galaxy..."Vlad said with a phony smile that the alien saw through.
"You're annoying me, get on with it!..."Mandie snarled.
Vlad still wore his smile, noting Danny's groan. He needed to start things quickly.
"It would seem your prey will wake up soon..." He said.
"All the more reason I must return home with him quickly. Now state your business and leave!..."Mandie growled.
"Very well...to make a long story short, I see you have interested yourself with my friend here and was wondering what you would say to a partnership..."Vlad suggested.
Mandie pointed her sword at the man. To her, a partnership meant marriage and she did not want that with the likes of him.
"Back off, blue freak! I'm not interested in marrying you!..."Mandie said and Vlad flinched at that and held his hands defensively.
"I was not proposing to you. I happen to have a woman I deeply love...one who I just have to get away from that fat oaf..."Vlad muttered.
Mandie didn't care about what he was talking about, just that he was wasting her time.
"I am getting impatient, state your business and leave!..."Mandie snapped and Vlad frowned.
"Temper, temper...I just wanted to know if you would need help in conquering this world, or any other. I happen to know a thing or two about this planet, and the ghosts..."Vlad said, hoping that she would say yes.
The princess frowned and scoffed at him.
"I need no aid from some nobody, especially one with hair that atrocious!..." Mandie snapped.
"You're one to talk..." Vlad mused angrily as the alien princess turned her attention to his unconscious foe.
"All I need... is right here..." She said, gesturing to Danny.
Vlad was mad at her rejecting his offer of a partnership but was curious as to what she was talking about.
"I see...well then, I do have one more question..."Vlad said. "If you don't mind my asking...exactly what reason are you pursuing Daniel?..."He asked, as politely as possible.
"Daniel? You mean Danny Phantom?..."Mandie asked with a raised eyebrow.
"Yes, you see, that's what I call him. We've known each other for a while. Which is why I'm asking why you pursue him...'Vlad said, rubbing his hands together, hoping that he could at least capitalize on whatever this angry princess planned to do with the little badger.
"Isn't it obvious? He's my soul mate, destined to be my husband and forever rule Boudacia with me as king and queen..."Mandie said, like it was the most obvious thing in the galaxy.
Vlad was silent for a moment, before he registered what she said and blurted out his shock
"EXCUSE ME?! What!?..."Vlad exclaimed while Mandie growled in impatience.
"You're wasting my time, now get lost!..."Mandie shouted as she pointed her sword. "I got a man to take home and a wedding to plan!..."She yelled.
Vlad did not like that this rude alien girl refuses his offer of an alliance and even more that she would offer such a thing to Danny. The evil half ghost decided to raise his hand, which glowed.
"You offer Daniel power? Not a chance!..."Vlad said as he fired and she ducked out of the way.
"You have abilities like his? No matter... I shall defeat you as well!..."Mandie said, determined to get him out of her way.
"I don't think so..."Vlad seethed, grinning as he turned intangible. "While I can't reason with you, I have a way of getting under people's skin..."He quipped.
The older halfa charged at Mandie. The girl swung her blade, but it did nothing as the man went inside her body to take control over her. The girl felt herself being invaded and felt a fire grow. Her body glowed for a moment, heating up intensely as Vlad was ejected.
"What was that?!..."Vlad yelled.
"You dare think you can control me!?..."Mandie yelled as her hair flamed on.
"I can't overshadow her species?!...oh darn it!..."Vlad said, getting angry at how things were turning out.
It got worse as he saw Danny regaining consciousness.
"Interesting...I suppose I'll have to change tactics...for now..."Vlad said as he grabbed his cape and twirled it around, making him vanish instantly.
"Yeah that's right! You better run!..."Mandie screamed but calmed down as the man left.
With Vlad gone now, Mandie went back to hunting her man, who now was awake.
Danny groaned, remembering what happened and how he was still being chased by Mandie. He turned to see the girl smiling at him, stalking closer.
"Oh man..."Danny said as he got up and managed to get away before Mandie tackled him.
The alien girl saw this and growled.
"NO FAIR! If it wasn't for that stupid blue skinned coward getting in the way,I would've won our challenge..."Mandie whined.
"Wait, who was just here?..."Danny said, not sure what she is talking about but didn't care as he had other worries, especially when she turned her attention back to him.
"Whatever...that coward is gone now and I won't have anymore distractions! Plus, I'm in need of relieving stress..."Mandie said, getting desperate to win this challenge.
"Besides, this is much more preferable..."Mandie said in a coy way, giving the boy bedroom eyes.
"Great..."Danny's voice was overflowing with sarcasm.
He flew off, wanting nothing to do with the girl.
"You can not run, Danny...I'll find you no matter where you are.."Mandie glanced at her device. "Give up now, and we can get back to Boudacia to be married..."
The ghost boy shooter his head, blasting away, not wanting that ever.
"Not happening! Why don't you just give up and go back home without me?!..."He yelled.
"NEVER!..."Mandie shouted.
"Course that'd be her answer...'Danny muttered.
He flew faster, wanting nothing to do with the girl. But his plans took a turn for the worse as a loud blast is heard. He turned around to see something swirling at him. It's speed surpasses him, tangling him up. The boy sees they are chains, pulling him down.
"Hey!..."Danny shouted as he fell, the chains weighting him down, with a crash.
"I modified the chains just for you..."She said while Danny struggled to break free.
These bindings were not as strong as last time. The boy had plenty of wiggle room as he escaped from his prison, only to see Mandie and her looming figure walking over, past her space ship.
"I win..."She said, feeling adrenaline as Danny glared at her.
"No way..."He said.
The two were so busy with their duel, the didn't notice the ground support for the ship slipping in the earth. It seemed the weight was becoming too much. Mandie didn't notice as she had her back turned and her eyes on her prize
"This time, stay unconscious!..."The alien princess said, raising her weapon.
Mandie was about to attack, but something came falling towards her. Something Danny saw and panicked.
"Look out!..." He shouted and pointed behind her.
Looking back, Mandie saw her ship falling on her. The ship pressed down on her and, due to her exhausted body, she can't get out.
"No! Not now!..." She hissed in anger and pain.
She tried to break free, but it wasn't enough.
That's when she saw the boy she was trying to force into being her mate standing above her. Thinking he was going to end her and end the royal bloodline, Mandie sighed in defeat.
"It's over..."She thought, feeling horror and failure.
Then, to her surprise, Danny phased his hand through the ship, grabbing her arm and pulling her out after turning her intangible.
After that, he used his strength to push the ship upright.
Once done, he turned around and saw Mandie staring at him with a blank expression.
"Are you okay?..."Danny asked.
Mandie was in pain but it wasn't anything she couldn't survive. Now that she was free, she could treat her wounds on her ship before they got serious.
However, the alien princess was silent but slowly nodded her head.
"Good..."He said.
He didn't have time to think about it as he walked past her. The two turned and saw the sunset and Danny turned to face her, frowning.
"There... I won... we had a deal... no go..." He said flatly without turning back.
He was about to go, but Mandie called out, ignoring her injuries.
"Wait!...She called out and he stopped.
"Now what?..."Danny muttered but the alien girl looked confused.
"Why... why did you save me? I... forcefully kissed you repeatedly... kidnapped you even... tried to hurt you if you rejected me..." She questioned this leap in logic.
Danny heard this and just sent her a look that would make a lesser warrior feel like dirt.
"Maybe... maybe I'm not like whatever your world churns out. Maybe that line of thinking is why whatever kooky universe you came from booted you. Regardless... go home and tell your people this world is off limits... like we agreed..." He said, still not looking at her before flying off.
Mandie just stared at him going. She kept looking even as he was out of sight.
Slowly, but hesitantly, she started to go back to her ship to go treat her wound and then leave.
During the entire time, there was only one thing was on her mind.
Danny...and what he just did for her...
"He does not want me... yet he saved me..."Mandie whispered to herself.
The alien princess was contemplating the event from beginning to end. All this, as she tried putting a fine feet on the ghost boy and his act of goodwill.
All the while, she felt something tugging at her heart...an emotion that..while similar to what she felt around the ghost boy...was very different and yet so similar. It was warm and get fuzzy like Fufu. The name was on the tip of her tongue, but she couldn't remember, not that it mattered since part of her liked it. But at the same time, it also made her upset.
"Danny..."Mandie whispered as she turned to a window and looked in the direction where he left.
She stared for minutes before she sighed. She set the coordinates on her spaceship and then blasted off before any other earthlings knew she was here.
Meanwhile
A certain bitter old fruitloop had been pacing around in anger in his secret lab. He had been watching the battle and was not happy with the results, especially as he recollected what he was just through.
Even worse, he made contact with Mandie, only to have found the girl's goals different than what he expected and she rejected his offer of teaming up. Even worse, he can't even overshadow her like he had planned to do if she resisted him and that wasn't the incomprehensible part.
"Unbelievable!..."Vlad slammed his fists on the desk.
He got up, storming around his lab, fuming.
"I have planning years for such power and the little badger is offered it on a silver platter!?..."He shouted in an incredulous tone.
His fist glowed with pink energy, fueled by his anger.
"And what's more, Daniel doesn't want it?! Does he not realize the power that could be at his fingers?!..."Vlad huffed, angry at Danny rejecting an offer of power like that.
However, he glared out the window, thinking of what he'd have done if it were him in Danny's situation, when a thought came to him. That alien wanted Danny to be he hers, just as he desires Maddie. The difference is she has powerful weaponry and, unlike him, has no secrets to hide from his desired romantic partner and she appears to be just as fixated as he was.
The vampire-esque ghost did not like the untapped potential this brought to Danny, even more when an idea came to him, one that filled him with dread and anger.
"Oh no! What if that shrew alien princess actually gets lucky and manages to convince Daniel to side with her?..."Vlad thought out loud, not liking this. "Then Daniel will be a king with a planet at his side and I'll become enemy to a whole world!..."He thought in panic and rage.
That did not set well with him... at all.
"I suppose I'll just have to put things in the right order...mine..."He thought as he began to form a plan and counter measure.
