Phantom vs Aliens: Hot Ectoplasma!
Chapter 23: Trapped Together Part 2
Danny flew around a while, carrying Mandie as they tried to find a way out of the ghost zone and the predicament they were in.
However, they found nothing but more of the emptiness of the Ghost Zone, such as green skies, rocks and no way to escape. Despite it all, Mandie enjoyed being this close to her beloved, while Danny just wanted to focus on escaping.
"There has to be a way out of here..."Danny thought as he looked around.
"Do you see anything..."He said to the alien princess.
"Nothing but green skies..."Mandie said, irritated but still enjoying being in his arms.
Danny was starting to think that they might be flying in circles but tried to stay optimistic...despite the situation he was in.
"Let me know if you see something..."He said to the alien princess.
"I will, Darling..."Mandie said in a sweet tone as she fluttered her eyes.
The ghost boy raised an eyebrow at that display but he did his best to stay focused on finding an exit.
"The sooner I let go, the better..."Danny thought as tried to ignore her.
They continued to traverse through the ghostly dimension that seemed to go on forever, wanting to leave the place known as the Ghost Zone.
About 5 minutes later
They soon landed and rested for a minute, although one of them just wanted to get a certain someone to stop hugging him so tightly.
"I think it'd be better if we continued on foot..."Danny said, wanting to put some distance between himself and the alien princess.
"No fair, I was really enjoying being held by a handsome hero..."Mandie said, pouting over no longer being in her beloved's arms.
Danny rolled his eyes and tried to ignore her.
"Let's just keep our guards up and keep our eyes peeled for any portals or whatever back to Earth..."He said as he lead the way, hopefully towards a way out.
"If you say so..."Mandie said,as she stayed close to her beloved, not wanting to be apart from him...especially in this strange place.
The princess of Boudacia followed close behind the ghost boy as she kept her flame sword at the ready for any trouble, as well as for the chance to prove her might to her beloved.
Mandie had been quiet, subtly staring at the ghost boy while keeping a look out. Everything he looked back, the girl looked the other way with a blush.
"Why can't I look at him the same way?..."Mandie thought. "He is to be my king! And I've kissed him! Why am I acting like this!?..."She thought in frustration.
"Mandie—..."Danny began.
"Yes!..."Mandie jumped at her name being called. The ghost boy stepped back defensively, ready for anything.
"Sorry...just...a little nervous...that is all..."She waved her hands to disarm the boy. She blushed, having trouble staring at his face.
"Okay but I'm not seeing anything familiar. Vlad might have taken us further into the Ghost Zone than I thought, so getting back home might take a bit longer than expected..."Danny said, being weary of his surroundings and this temporary partnership
"That stands to reason..."Mandie said, not really knowing this world.
However, she'll make due with what she had on hand.
"Let's just keep moving..."He said and the princess nodded.
The ghost boy and the alien princess now started walking and while she was trying to escape, she couldn't take her eyes away from him or the way he walks with a powerful stride.
"Fascinating~..."Mandie said as she inched closer.
"Uh...do you want to ask me something or are you just gonna keep on invading my personal space?..."Danny asked her, sounding annoyed.
Mandie flinched when she realized what she was doing and tried her best to save face.
"Oh, uh nothing. I'm just remaining close in case of crisis..."Mandie said, hoping he bought it.
Danny raised an eyebrow, but didn't pry for further detail.
"Well, just keep an eye out for anything you don't recognize. Sooner we go, the sooner we find Vlad. So don't even think of kissing me or anything for now..." Danny demanded.
But Mandie couldn't help blushing at his gaze again. It was like a true warrior challenging her, making her blood boil with excitement. Danny didn't love her as she loved him but still he protected her and kept her close to him to keep her and didn't abandon her to fend for herself against whatever dangers are in this place, which must mean some kind of progress.
Right?
"Of course, my beloved..."Mandie said with her loving stare.
Danny gave a deadpan look and that's when she stopped, having no longer seen his warrior spirit. She coughed an apology and the moment was alright.
"Um... apologies...I'll...continue to stay vigilant..."She said, trying to regain some of herself in front of him.
"Just let me know if you see something..."He said to the alien princess.
"Okay, got it..."Mandie said, frustrated with his coldness towards her.
They continued to march forward, hopefully to find any escape from this place and back home.
A few minutes later
Danny and Mandie kept walking and increased their speed a bit, while still having a noticeable distance between them.
"See anything resembling a portal or anything similar?..."Danny asked.
"Nothing yet, but I'll keep both my eyes peeled..."Mandie said, trying her best for her future husband.
However, the alien princess was too busy keeping her eyes on him that she was unaware of how close she was to the ledge of the landmass they were on.
Not watching her step, Mandie tripped.
Acting fast, Danny reached and pulled her up.
"Watch your step..." He insisted.
Mandie found herself in his arms and smiled dreamily, feeling that warmth, happy feeling inside again due to being this close to him.
She couldn't stop herself now.
"My my, you sure know how to treat a princess..." Mandie praised "We work so well together, my beloved~..."She said as she wanted to reward him with a kiss.
The ghost boy, however, just pushed her back and crossed his arms and while giving Mandie a glare that made it clear he did not want a kiss.
"Can you please just stop that?!..." Danny asked while the princess pouted.
"Ohh... do I have to?..." Mandie cooed before inching closer and grinning. "I've missed kissing you..."She said as she decided to try again, her previous hesitation gone now but the boy pushed her back.
"CUT IT OUT!..."Danny yelled, surprising Mandie with his words.
"I just don't get you sometimes, Mandie!..."He added.
"Do you honestly think after this much time since I last saw you that I did a 180?! I don't want to marry you! I don't even want to date you! I don't even want to have kids right now!..." Danny snapped at her.
The alien princess frowned before sighing and giving in.
"The thing is... I don't want to have kids right away either..." Mandie admitted.
"You don't?..." Danny asked, not believing it, given how desperate she got.
Mandie groaned.
"I'm at marrying age on my world... and I'm being kind of pressured to meet someone since my last marriage ended poorly..."She said.
"Last one? You mentioned that you were once married and got divorced on your ship..."Danny said and Mandie nodded.
"Like I said, it was an arrange marriage but I did not love him. He was spineless! Literally and figuratively in case you're wondering...a squid..."She muttered.
"I see..."Danny said, unsure to respond to that.
"We only married as a means of uniting our forces... but I got impatient. I staged a take over of his planet, and he and his allies stopped me and he divorced me..."She muttered bitterly.
"Can't imagine why he'd do that..." Danny said with sarcasm.
"I was... impatient and my methods left something to be desired..."Mandie said.
"You mean you went too aggressively and things went too far?..."Danny snarked.
Mandie blushed as she slowly nodded. The boy could see right through her sometimes.
"But when I separated from him, my people looked down on me..."She said, looking upset.
"What do you mean? You gotta have some form of divorce on your planet..."The ghost boy said.
Mandie just stayed silent for a moment and she turned around and Danny was surprised to see the miserable look on her face as she raised her voice at him.
"You don't get it! Divorce on my world is considered a dishonor! I have to remarry and soon!"..."Mandie said, almost on the verge of tears.
He was unmoved, just mildly curious of an alien's culture(to a small extent) but he still had to ask something that has been on his mind since she started chasing him.
"Then why me?! Aren't there people on your world that actually want to be around you?..." Danny questioned.
"None of them are even close to being as strong as you, and only the one that can beat me is worthy to be my king!..."Mandie yelled.
"And I'm sure that you'll have plans to use me to invade and conquer other inhabitable planets and put the whole universe under your heel..."Danny said, still not convinced my her claims of affection.
Mandie sighed in frustration as she continued to try and convince him.
"Putting my planet's traditional rules aside, I chose you for good reason. I meant it when I said I love you and that I want you to be by my side. For better or for worse..."Mandie tried, trying to show how genuine she truly is.
However the ghost boy still wasn't convinced of that. He may be a teenager, but he understood the basics of love and this isn't even coming close to it.
"You don't even know me, so I doubt you know what love is. Plus, I haven't forgotten what you've done to me these last few weeks. Do you even have any uncomfortable and on edge you've made me since we met?..."Danny said, still not believing her after all she's d "one to him. I'd rather be single forever than have a chance at walking down the aisle with you!..."He added, upsetting her.
"Besides, there has to be someone else out there besides me..."Danny said as he turned his back to her
The alien princess growled at his rejection. Her hair riser as flames sparked from within, threatening to go ablaze but she didn't give in yet as she kept trying to convince him.
"I already told you that there's no else like you and the one that came closest is still a weakling compared to me!..."Mandie yelled.
"So, you're saying it doesn't have to be me?..."He said, looking hopeful.
"No, but I don't want it to be anyone else but you, you're only one who's ever made me feel the way I do and it's a feeling I don't want to lose..."Mandie said, almost longingly.
Danny was even surprised as she didn't speak in any sarcastic or wicked tone like usual, even looking truly sincere right now.
"All I wanted was to marry someone for my own sake and choosing and for me to not have to marry Brutis!..."Mandie cried, snarling in anger.
"What?..."Danny questioned, looking at the girl puzzled. "What do you mean?...Wait, is that the guy you said was after you?..."He asked.
Mandie nodded.
"That's him. He's my number one reason I've been so keen to have you..."She said.
"Really? Why?..." Danny asked.
Mandie facepalmed and groaned.
She didn't want to answer, but Danny's glare and quizzical tilt of his head got to her. She tried to ignore it, but to no avail.
After a few moments, she caved in.
"I am the princess of Boudacia, and since I am of marrying age, the council wants me to do such and produce heirs..."Mandie gave a sorrowful look. "But the chosen warrior, Brutis, is a man child, who looks to me like a trophy..."
"Why does that sound like Dash?..."Danny pondered.
"So...you just want to get away from the guy?..."Danny asked.
"Ugh...at the very least..."Mandie said as she gagged.
"Brutis is a Boudacian nobleman and my father's top soldier...he comes from one of our planets oldest and richest families and all the girls seem to fall at his feet. He's also rude, conceited and can't even last five minutes as a decent sparring partner. And yet he challenges me every chance he gets! He's the worst!..."She yelled, flaming her hair.
"Okay. Okay, I get it now...could you please turn off the flames?..."Danny asked.
Much to his pleasure, the girl agreed.
"I don't do that on purpose y'know..."Mandie said, complaining.
"Duly noted and not cared. Now, back to this guy you were talking about..." Danny said.
"After learning that my own father, King Maurus, wanted me to be engaged to that idiot, I got desperate to get out of it. I was impatient..."Mandie confessed. "I wanted to find someone... different... better. Then I found you..."She said, trying to appeal to his more compassionate, heroic side.
Unfortunately, Danny didn't look at all flattered, only more agitated.
"Wait... you don't wanna marry this guy? Why? You both sound pretty... ideal for each other..." Danny said.
Mandie looked insulted at that and continued to try and explain her case.
"Because he's the most chauvunistic, pigheaded, vain and untrustworthy excuse of a male in any universe!..." Mandie shouted, her hair igniting in flame.
Danny's eyes widened.
"Uh..." He pointed to her hair.
Mandie noticed her hair turning on fire and, after clearing her throat, it turned off.
"Sorry, I get that from my father's side of the family... anyway... I don't love him since he's a huge pain..."She said.
"I kinda relate..." Danny muttered.
Mandie heard that and got up in the boy's face, not liking what he implied about herself.
"But I am different! I genuinely seek companionship and one whose power would benefit the heirs to my throne! Even if I can wait a few years for children, I can be a very patient and loving woman when I try to be..."Mandie said, defending herself...only to be pushed away by Danny.
"Hey, knock it off! You're complaining about this Brute guy who is a total pain who treats you like a trophy when you're doing the same to me?!..."Danny yelled back, getting her attention.
"Huh?..."Mandie questioned, looking confused while the boy rolled his eyes.
"Seriously! You're doing the same thing to me! What exactly made you think I want to marry someone I just met with delusions of grandeur about ruling the universe and who's idea of a first date is what we could call a death match?! Not to mention you tried to kidnap me twice and take me away from my home?!..."He yelled at her.
"You say that your different from him, but you've been acting no better than he probably is. I keep reminding you that I'm not interested but it's obvious you don't want to listen!..."He yelled at her.
Mandie gasped, looking desperate and tried to defend herself.
"I am nothing like that creep, he's nothing but a pitiful excuse of a warrior and he's much more deceitful than you think. Besides, I know you'd make a much better husband than Brutis and if you just give me a chance, I could convince you that I'd be such a good wife for you!..."Mandie tried. "I just know in my heart that we would definitely make each other happy if you would just let me prove that to you!..."She insisted but Danny was still not convinced.
"By forcing me to marry you and using my powers to you own benefit, right?..."Danny said with an eye-roll, still not buying it.
"It would be of your benefit as well. You'd be treated like a king and have an entire planet at your beck and call. Anything you'd desire would be granted..."Mandie insisted but the ghost boy has had enough.
"You can't FORCE someone to love you, Mandie or try bribing them either. I don't know how relationships work on your world, but on Earth, marriage isn't something you can just order on a whim, it's a willing partnership where two people who know each other long enough to love, honor and care about each other and all that is just the tip of the iceberg..."He said.
Mandie was stunned by the ghost boy's words as he continued.
"And there's no way I'd ever marry anyone who wants to hurt people or because they want to abuse my powers for their own benefits. Regardless of how hot she looks..."Danny said, making Mandie feel insulted by his words.
"I already told you that my people value strength above everything. It has been our way since the beginning of time!..."Mandie shouted. "I had to-..."She added.
"Fulfill your royal duties of getting me to father a new era of galactic tyrants..."Danny said sarcastically and Mandie huffed.
"It's necessary for the future of the Boudacians. My people have always been at the top of the food chain, at least in our old universe. We have to do the same in this one. Besides, war is the universal language..."Mandie said with her hands on her hips.
Danny was appalled by this but something she just said got his attention and still needed some clarification.
"You told me that you came from another universe...you were banished or something..."Danny said, recalling that.
The alien princess nodded.
"It's true...the allies of my enemies sent us here, banished us without a chance for us to even retaliate or a chance to fight back..."Mandie said.
"Gee, I wonder why?..."Danny said in sarcasm.
"It was completely unfair and unfit for warriors!..."Mandie shouted while the ghost boy rolled his eyes at her whining.
"My gosh, you seriously are a pain in two universes..."Danny said in disbelief. "Except those enemies made you MY problem now..."He said, already wishing he could undo this decision made without consulting his own universe.
Mandie growled.
"Why won't you just give me and my love a chance!?..."She yelled.
"Why won't stop challenging me to fights and take a hint that I will never want anything to do with you?!..."Danny yelled back. "Why can't you and your traditions just leave me alone?!..."He shouted.
"It's just how we are!..."She yelled.
"What are you talking about?..."Danny questioned.
"Boudacians are ancient warrior race that are meant to excel. I was raised to follow our empire's way of thinking..."Mandie said, recalling one of her father's lectures. "Boudacians were the first known sentient race in our universe, so as far as we knew, we had every right to be the greatest..."She said, like it was common facts.
"The greatest at what?..." Danny asked, not seeing it.
"Everything! We had to make sure everyone knew that! That is why we conquer and show the weak where they belong. That we are at the top among everyone!..."She said, panting with vigor, only calming down when she saw the look Danny was giving her.
"Seriously? That's what you thought whenever you go out to invade and conquer other planets in your old universe?!..."He asked in disbelief.
"Yes!..."Mandie said, as if it was obvious.
Danny sent her an incredulous look and shook his head in disgust.
"I don't believe it..."He muttered.
"What?..."Mandie questioned.
"I just can't believe that you actually believe that being the best meant pushing everyone around to get what you want..."He said as he pinched the bridge between his eyes.
"I just said that we are the strongest race in our old universe..."Mandie said while the ghost boy simply looked mad at her answer.
"Being stronger doesn't give you the right to hurt the weak. When I got my powers, I decided to use them to help others..."He explained.
"You mentioned that you weren't born with your powers..."Mandie said.
"Yeah, I wasn't. I got them last year..."He said.
"I could have used them for myself...and I'll admit that I did a few times... but I chose to use them to save lives, not to take them. I saved you, after all..."He reminded.
Mandie stared at the boy. She recalled when he saved her, the falling of the ship vividly replaying in her mind.
"Why did you do that?..."The princess asked while the boy turned to her.
There is just something that she doesn't understand.
"I was your enemy. You wanted nothing to do with me and yet you saved me without a moment's notice...not that I'm not relieved but why?..."She asked.
Danny stared back, his glowing green eyes sending a shiver down the girl's spine. They held some frustration but no malice.
"I don't like you...you're a stalker who can't seem to take no for an answer, but...you are still someone...and I'm not going to stand by and let you die if I can help it...it's who I am..."He said.
Mandie seemed surprised by this answer...and slightly disappointed that it wasn't because he secretly loves her but a part of her was...curious to say the least while the ghost boy continued talking.
"I've seen what I can become if I used my powers like your people use yours... it's not a good thing..."He said, trying to shake away bad memories.
Mandie was curious to what he meant but even she could tell that he did not want to talk about it. So, she tried to continue their conversation with a different question, one that has been on her mind for a while.
"You mentioned you were a hybrid...uh...if you don't mind me asking..how is that possible? Was it some kind of magic?..."Mandie asked, remembering Turner's magical companions and wondering if this earth had magic too.
Danny raised his brow at the "magic thing" and he didn't want to answer but wanted her to stop talking.
"If I tell you, do you promise to stop talking?..."Danny asked, wanting to end this.
"Of course..."Mandie said.
"I won't give you all the details but it wasn't magic. Long story short, I was in an accident that gave me these powers, my body absorbing energy..."Danny explained.
Mandie seemed fascinated and more curious.
"Absorbing energy, huh?..."The alien princess thought.
"Could I too get these powers?..."She had to ask.
"Dunno, don't care, now come on!..."Danny said impatiently.
Mandie frowned at his attitude and started to pout in response
However, before she could say anything, she saw something up ahead that got her attention.
"Wait...I see something..."Mandie said.
"What is it?..."Danny asked.
The alien princess pointed up ahead before she gestured with her head.
"Over there, I see a portal of some kind..."Mandie said, pointing to a mountain on the floating island.
Danny wasted no time in flying them there, even if it meant holding Mandie again. They soon landed and Danny used his hand over his eyes to get a clearer look.
"That's a portal alright, but I have no idea where it leads..." He said.
"Any place is preferable than where we are right now..." Mandie said as she started heading towards it.
The ghost boy and the alien princess began running and made their way towards the portal, wanting to get back home as soon as possible.
"Finally, a way out of this place..."Danny thought, wanting to be rid of her.
"Oh... too soon..."Mandie thought, still frustrated with her time with Danny over as they raced towards to portal.
Still, she wasn't going to give up on him, she was already planning ahead with ideas as they arrived to the portal that will hopefully free them.
Unknown to them, a certain spy droid with a vampire-esque appearance had been monitoring them the entire time and even listening in on the little "lover's quarrel" and having schemes being planned.
"First aliens...Now, magic and another universe? Fascinating...and so Daniel is being courted by one of the mighty Boudacians. Now this is far more interesting than I realized..."A certain fruitloop thought, pondering as he thought about how to use this information to his advantage while he plotted his next move.
Unknown to him, another spy droid had been monitoring the "couple", one with other ideas, though he didn't hear much of their conversation, just how close they are to each other from his perspective.
He did not like this to say the least and saw this as a means to prove himself.
"Don't worry, Princess Mandie. Your real fiance will make quick work of that lowly peasant..."A certain jealous warrior thought as he was still thousands of light years away.
Oh boy.
