Phantom vs Aliens: Hot Ectoplasma!

Chapter 31: Friends? Part II

Previously

Sam didn't notice as her eyes were still on Danny and his new "friend".

"They're moving! Come on!…"The goth girl said, ignoring the boy as she walked away.

Tucker sighed, but complied, having a feeling this was going to be a long night.

The two teens followed after their friend and his alien admirer, with the goth girl hoping to stop the other female, no matter what.

Present Time

Danny and a newly disguised Mandie were on their way to the carnival.

The ghost boy still couldn't help but marvel at her disguise. Aside from the purple hair and the fact that she is now just an inch taller than him than outright towering him like in her normal form, she looks so different, like a completely different person.

"She looks so normal...I just hope that she remembers what I told her..."He thought.

They soon arrived to the carnival.

The alien princess looked around and saw large contraptions, booths and hundreds of earthlings eating junk food, talking, playing games and getting on these contraptions, either screaming or laughing in enjoyment.

"So, this is an Earth carnival?..."Mandie couldn't help, but comment.

"You guys don't have carnivals on your planet?..."He asked, curious.

"We have festivals but they are held during celebrations of grand victories when we defeat a mighty foe. Though we do have funnel cake..."She said like it was normal, though it was normal for her culture.

"Well, things are a little different here...we're here to have fun and will do it for no reason needed..."Danny said as he gestured to the stands and rides, eager to enjoy some fun rides, eat some food and try his hand at the games.

"So, what do we do first?..."Mandie asked.

Danny thought about it. There were a lot of games available, some rides which includes a ferris wheel and some food stands nearby, but he wanted to start things with something simple and that they could both enjoy.

"I was thinking we hit a few game booths first and then go on a couple of rides..."Danny said, hoping to show Mandie there was more to things than just fighting and conquering.

Mandie smiled and nodded.

"Okay, lead the way..."She said.

Danny soon led her to his first choice, all the while a certain goth and tech geek had arrived to the carnival and were at the entrance.

"I got my eye on you..."Sam said as she looked around for them.

"Sam...as much as I'd like to look at Mandie, including that hot human disguise of hers, this feels wrong, especially since it seems like she's not planning anything..."Tucker complained.

"We're not leaving until we make sure Danny's safe!..."Sam snapped at him, still viewing the other female as a threat.

"Hey you two, if you're gonna stand around, then buy a ticket or leave! No solicitors!..."A worker said.

Sam blinked while Tucker sent her a glare.

"Does it look like I have any money?..."Tucker said as he showed his pockets that were empty.

Sam frowned as she reluctantly paid for the two of them, just wanting to get in there and find Danny.

"Unbelievable but it's a small price to pay to keep that space case away from Danny..."She thought as she bought the tickets and they soon went inside, trying to keep up.

With Danny

The ghost boy brought Mandie to the first booth, one that he'd thought would be fun.

The milk bottle toss.

Mandie saw the stand that Danny was looking at and she also saw what looked to be many earth toys on display and she also saw some milk bottles on a table.

"What is this game called?..."She asked, curious.

"It's called the milk bottle toss...it's a classic. You have to try and knock some bottles down with a ball and if you manage to knock all the bottles over in one strike, you get a prize..."Danny said.

Mandie seemed interested at that.

"Ah, a challenge that tests your skills at hitting targets with a round orb. Interesting practice, primitive but effective..."She said.

Danny sighed.

"This isn't to train or to show off our powers, we do this for fun..."He said as he approached the booth.

Danny reached for his pocket and pulled out some money. He soon purchased three balls and decided to show her how it's done.

"Okay, time to have a little fun..."He thought as he had a determined look on his face.

Mandie noticed it and smiled.

"Hmm...this game seems to make him enjoy himself..."She thought, intrigued as she watched her beloved play.

Danny aimed and threw the first ball. To his surprise, despite hitting the target, the bottles didn't go down.

"What the?..."He said as he threw another one and the end result was the same.

Danny didn't understand this, thanks to all of his ghost hunting and training, his aim improved a lot and he usually has no trouble at this game, but these bottles refuse to be knocked down.

"What's going on here?..."Danny thought, getting impatient and confused at what was happening.

"I guess you don't have much of a throwing arm..."The carnie said as he shrugged.

Danny got mad and threw the next ball even harder, hitting the target square on again, but they remained in place.

The ghost boy got mad.

"This game is rigged, isn't it?!.."He said, smelling a scam here.

"I am insulted you would say such a thing..."The carnie denied, looking smug.

Danny frowned but Mandie got angry.

"You dishonorable thief, I demand that you refund us immediately!..."She yelled, getting mad at what she could tell was a con.

"Sorry, little lady but no refunds..."He said as he pointed to a sign. "Now why don't you go make your boyfriend a sandwich or something..."He said in a rude tone.

Mandie got angry and even growled, feeling the urge to break him in half for that remark.

"WHAT WAS THAT?!..."She snapped, furious.

Danny, however, realized that she was losing her temper and pulled her back.

"Mandie...calm down...remember what I said about not hurting people..."Danny whispered to her.

"But he-..."Mandie tried.

"I know but it's not worth it. Plus, we don't wanna get in trouble and risk us getting exposed..."He said.

Mandie didn't like the thought of this con-man being unpunished for trying to cheat her beloved out of his victory but she didn't want to risk him getting upset with her and ending their unofficial date shortly now that they are becoming closer.

"There must be someway to avenge my beloved..."She thought until she got an idea.

"I demand to play this game as well..."She said.

Danny blinked but the carnie looked like he didn't care.

"10 bucks, sweetheart..."He said, obviously not taking her seriously.

Since Mandie didn't have any earth money, she turned to Danny.

"What are you doing?..."He asked.

"Don't worry, I won't mutilate him if that is what you are worried about. I just need make sure to avenge you in another manner..."She said, before realizing something. "Uh...may I borrow some...dollars?..."She asked, sending him a pleading look since she needed the earth currency since she doubted her own planet's money is good here.

Danny was unsure but decided to trust her. He handed her the money and Mandie purchased the balls.

She sent a glare at the smug carnie before sending a playful look to Danny.

"Behold, future husband..."The princess thought in determination, ready to put the thief in his place.

Before anyone could even blink, Mandie threw the balls with such speed, force and perfect aim that they not only were knocked down, but they were outright shattered as the ball hit them so hard that they were now scattered all over the ground. The ball even broke through the wall of the stand, leaving a gaping hole.

Mandie smirked at what she thought was her victory.

"Success!..."She declared proudly.

Both Danny and the crooked carnie were left speechless.

"Wow...good aim..."Danny said, actually impressed while the carnie was still gaping.

Mandie smiled at the compliment.

"Thank you, Darling..."She said, pleased before turning to the carnival worker who tried to cheat them.

"I do believe that I am the winner of this game and that you must grant me one of these stuff animals as my reward..."She said.

The crooked carnie snapped out of his shock and was too frightened to argue as he just let Mandie have whatever prize she wanted. The alien girl looked at what was on display and saw one stuffed earth toy that almost reminded her of her pet Fufu.

"I shall take this one..."She said, more like an order.

The carnie just handed it to her, keeping quiet since while he was upset his scam was ruined but he was more terrified by this girl's strength and the damage that she made.

"That's it, I quit!..."He said as he quit on the spot and left, obviously terrified.

"Coward..."Mandie muttered in disgust as he ran away.

Danny blinked and laughed a bit.

"I gotta say, that was worth it..."Danny said with a chuckle to the princess.

"What can I say? I do not like being cheated out of a prize and I always play to win..."She said, looking proud.

Danny chuckled at that.

"I noticed..."He said as he motioned for her to follow him.

Mandie smiled and the two resumed their outing, Mandie holding onto the stuff toy she won like a trophy for her victory.

Later

After playing a few more booths, which thankfully weren't rigged, Mandie and even Danny managed to win a few more prizes, enough that they needed a small box to carry.

They managed to win at ring toss, darts and a water-gun game . Mandie even got the high score at the test your strength game and sent the high striker puck up with such force it broke the bell, terrifying the shocked worker into handing over the prize.

Danny just laughed at the guy's reaction and they left that spot before he snapped out of the shock and demanded an explanation.

"I must say, I am beginning to enjoy these challenges of physical actions without need for combat. Even if the prizes are rather soft and...I believe the earth term is schlocky..."She said.

"That's part of the fun. Wasting time at stands, all to win a cheap prize that looks fun..."Danny said with amusement.

"So, what other challenge shall we add to our conquests, Darling?..."She asked.

"I was thinking we could take a break and try something else..."He suggested.

"What do you have in mind?..."Mandie asked.

"Since the line for the roller coaster is too long right now, why don't we try the hall of mirrors?..."He suggested, since it was nearby.

"Hall of mirrors?..."Mandie questioned.

"It's pretty self explanatory, a place where all the walls are mirrors. It's like a maze where all you see is yourself..."He said.

"And your species finds that entertaining?..."She asked, confused.

"It's complicated. It's a maze, so I guess that's the fun..."Danny said with a shrug.

"Very well, I suppose I can give it a try. I can at least enjoy the sight of us together, even in this form..."Mandie said, gesturing to herself. "Plus, whats the worst that could happen?..."Mandie asked in an off-hand manner.

She couldn't be more wrong about underestimating Earthly amusement. After thirty seconds of wandering into the maze of mirrors, the princess found herself bewildered by her countless reflections. Danny gave a silent chuckle as he snuck past the girl in distraction.

"What is this?..."Mandie questioned, touching one of the mirrors as she saw herself reflected down a passageway.

She reached out to grab the ghost boy's hand, but found nothing but air behind her.

"Danny?…Where are you?…"She called, seeing only dozens of her own reflection.

"For that, you'll have to find me. Up for a challenge?…"Danny's voice echoed in the halls. "Just remember our agreement…"

Despite not being allowed to use her tech or reveal her truer form, the ghost boy's words sent a chill through the girl's body. She smiled wickedly as she treaded around the maze.

"Oh, this IS gonna be fun…"Mandie said as she eyed the halls for her beloved.

However, finding the ghost boy was more elusive than she predicted, especially since she left her special glasses like the last time she tried hunting him down.

Every time the girl saw Danny, she lunged to grab him, but found herself with another reflection that disappeared. She growled for a moment but then giggled at the thrill, finding the challenge refreshing while bringing thought to their first meeting. These surprises were just one of many, but the princess thoroughly enjoyed herself as she ran around.

However, it wasn't until she found Danny that the real fun began.

Around a corner, near the exit, Mandie saw the ghost boy snickering to himself. While pouncing him seemed like the best idea, she decided to have some of her own, silently walking over.

"Okay, I think that's enough for now. I'd better go find her before she loses her temper..."Danny said, about to turn around.

That was Mandie's cue to jump on Danny and pin him to the ground.

The boy struggled against her grip, feeling helpless but that stopped as Mandie leaned and whispered.

"How about next time, watch your back before challenging a Boudician?..."She said but the smile on her face showed she wasn't angry.

To her, this was just good-natured fun.

"Dully note, now can you get off..."He said, not enjoying being pinned again given what happened the last time.

While Mandie had been tempted to recreate that experience, she was smart enough to know that now is not the time or place for that. The alien princess then got up and held a hand out for Danny.

The ghost boy took it and despite what happened, the two laughed as their little game came to an end.

Soon, they exited the maze and their outing continued.

Later

After leaving the hall of mirrors, the two unusual teenagers tried to figure out what they should do next.

Mandie soon noticed what looked like a fake earth style home that was decrepit, looking like it could collapse any second.

"What is this?..."She asked.

"It's a haunted house..."Danny said.

"Haunted house?..."Mandie questioned as she recalled that Danny is technically half ghost and wondered if this was insult to him or not.

"Is this some sort of insight into you ghostly nature or cultural sharing?..."She asked in a whisper, trying to respect his secret.

Danny just laughed at that, finding her not-so violent attitude rather charming right now.

"No, this is just for fun..."He said, waving his hand in rejection to her theory. "People go in there, usually to get scared..."He explained.

"Why would they wish to be scared intentionally?..."Mandie questioned.

"Some just enjoy the thrill..."Danny said. "You'll see when we go in and remember it's all fake, so no fighting back..."He said to the girl.

"Very well..."She said as he lead her in.

Inside

She got in and waited in line where another boy was at the counter, explaining about how the house and amusement park wasn't held accountable for accidents invoking the anything pants wetting or nightmares and how entering of their own accord made the patron liable for their actions.

Mandie barely listened as she was more focused on her crush who was next to her, also not paying attention to the lecture.

"This is the longest he's been around me without an argument...I kinda like it..."She thought to herself.

As she and Danny were next to go in, she noticed screams ahead, but Danny wasn't affected or concerned.

"What's going on?…"she asked.

"Don't worry, it's all part of the show..."Danny said, not worried at all.

Once they entered the park's attraction, Mandie looked around and was less than surprised.

She looked around and saw a cemetery built into the place with stairs leading up to another floor. It looked as unkept as the outside with windows that showed thundering rain, despite it being clear sky outside.

She saw some humans screaming and running out from another room in a panic as a monster like animatronic appeared at the entry.

"THIS is considered scary?..."She questioned as an obviously mechanical monster appeared before them, roaring.

"Please, I've seen worse and this is clearly fake..."She said dismissively.

"I'll say, it's totally sad against anything real..."Danny said, not affected by it at all.

"You seem unaffected by all this...I thought you said that people come here to get scared..."Mandie said.

"I've been in the ghost zone more times than I can count, this is nothing..."He said.

Mandie saw his point. However, she noticed an earth couple a few feet away...they were clearly a couple by how the female was holding the males arm

"Oh Jeff, this is SO scary!..."The female said as she clung to the boy but even Mandie can tell she was faking her fear.

"Don't worry, Stacy-baby. I'll protect you..."The make, Jeff, said as he had his arms around her as they blushed and remained close.

Mandie blinked as she realized what this was.

"Ah, so some use this as an excuse to be physically close..."She thought as she turned to Danny with a sly grin.

She then clung to him too, surprising him.

"What are you doing?..."Danny asked, annoyed by her clinging to him.

"I just thought about how scary this could be..."She said, holding tighter. "I just need someone strong to keep me safe…"

"Please, you aren't scared. You just want an excuse to speed this up..."Danny said as she continued.

"I apologize..."Mandie said, not letting go.

Danny rolled his eyes but knew she wasn't going to listen, now that she learned what some couples do here.

"I can't believe I didn't see this coming...or that she she's picked that up so fast..."He thought as they kept walking through the haunted house and Mandie kept clinging to him everything time she was "frightened" by the cheesy fake monsters.

Outside

"I can't believe that you kept holding that..."He said as they walked out.

"Well, I am playing the part of simple Earth girl..."Mandie said in a false innocent tone.

Danny rolled his eyes but a part of him couldn't help but find her actions amusing.

"She's gone from trying to force me into marriage to pulling the scared girl act..."He thought, finding it ironic.

She eventually let him go, mostly because she didn't want to risk the boundaries issue again. Despite having been annoyed at first, he still didn't hate it

"Well, can't say it wasn't fun..."He said, earning a laugh from her.

"Let us have more fun, Darling..."Mandie said as Mandie said with fluttering eyelashes, enjoying herself too much now.

Danny then noticed something up ahead.

"The line for the roller coaster is shorter now, come on..."He said, motioned for her to follow.

"Lead the way, Darling..."Mandie said, pleased by how much progressed they have made on this not-date.

As they got in line, Sam and Tucker had been spying from afar. It was mainly the goth girl with binoculars as her friends did everything he could to reel her in.

"Oh, that girl..."Sam said as she gripped her binoculars, nearly crushing them in half.

"Sam, this is ridiculous. Can't we just go home or maybe actually enjoy the carnival? You know, like regular teenagers..."Tucker said as he absent-mindedly eyed a few girls, wondering if they were single.

"FOCUS!..."Sam yelled at him.

"Hey you kids, what are you doing?..."One of the security guards at the carnival said as they noticed the two clearly weren't doing anything acceptable, namely following others.

Sam and Tucker flinched, now realizing how suspicious they look.

"Oh crud..."Sam said as they made a break for it.

Meanwhile

Danny and Mandie were in line for the roller coaster.

"Explain again why this roller...coaster ride is entertaining if you can fly?..."She whispered.

"This is basically just me enjoying the rush since I don't have to do anything but sit..."He said. "Plus, this is one of the fastest roller coasters in the state, called the Blood Freezer. It rocks..."He said, since he loves them.

Soon, it was their turn and they were both placed at the front of the ride.

"Keep your arms and legs inside the vehicle at all times..."The guy in charge of the ride said.

"You heard the man..."Danny said as the ride started.

Mandie saw the ride was moving and gave a curious look. This wasn't exactly fast, rather was more of a slow pace. It wasn't until they went up did she realize the concept of the ride.

Still, she got an idea.

"Hmm...if this gets too intense for you...be sure to hold onto me tight, Darling..."Mandie said flirtatiously.

Danny rolled his eyes.

"What did I say about keeping the touchy-feely stuff at minimum?..."He said and Mandie pouted.

It didn't last long as they soon reached the highest point of the roller coaster before they plummeted at about 100 miles per hour.

Mandie watched as Danny was cheering loudly at the rush. While nothing compared to a space ship, it was still exhilarating as the girl get the wind against her hair.

"This is awesome!..."Danny cheered loudly.

"I don't understand, what's the point of this speedy cart on a track?..."Mandie asked as she was used to rushes like this thanks to her hover board.

"YOU DON'T NEED TO UNDERSTAND FOR IT TO BE FUN!..."Danny shouted as he kept cheering as they spun through a dozen hoops, went inside a dark tunnel and soon came to a halt, all in under 2 minutes.

Once done, Mandie and Danny got off the right and the alien princess was smiling.

"I must say that was rather...interesting..."She said.

"Glad to see that you're loosening up..."He said, happy to know that she's capable of having fun.

"So, what other actions of fun shall we partake in?..."Mandie asked, wanting this to continue.

Before Danny could make suggestions, his stomach started growling due to hunger.

"Maybe we can have lunch first before we go on any more rides..."Danny suggested.

Mandie liked the thought of sharing a meal with her beloved and nodded.

They soon went to get lunch together, both still feeling pleasant as their not-date continued.
