Phantom vs Aliens: Hot Ectoplasma!
Chapter 37: A Princess's Plan III
Danny and Mandie had spent the next hour hanging out at the mall, chatting, exploring and having a good time with each other as the ghost boy showed her more of normal earth teen culture. The alien princess smiled at the wonders earth had to offer. Though a mall could only show a slice of the planet's culture.
Still, much like with the carnival, Mandie seemed fascinated by earth customs and the many attractions the mall presented. It was also obvious that she was just happy to spend this lovely time with her beloved, which the ghost boy noticed.
"I take it you're enjoying yourself?..."Danny asked, since it was clear that she was having fun with this.
"Quite. Though I do wonder if any of your stores sell weapons. I've been looking for a new chain-blade for a while..."Mandie said.
"Uh, hate to break it to you but on this planet they don't sell weapons to minors under 18 at all, much less in this mall. Even if it did, we can't buy them just like that..."Danny explained.
Mandie raised a brow.
"Why? Do they not train our planet's next generation for combat?..."She questioned.
"Let's just say most humans aren't suitable for weaponry and they made a lot of rules to make sure that some crazy kids can't get their hands on them..."Danny said.
"But...do they not train people with the equipment they need to be better prepare for the next time enemy's attack?..."Mandie asked.
"I'm sure they do, but not the expense of kids hurting themselves or each other in the process. A person needs to be a certain age in order to even have a chance at owning a weapon here..."He said, trying his best to explain but he didn't know a lot about laws like that, just the basics.
"I see. Well, at least this mall more stuff to offer, either way..."Mandie said, just happy to have him by her side like this, even if he still won't accept her love yet.
Still, she will be patient.
They soon passed by an arcade and Mandie was curious.
"What is that?..."She asked as she pointed to it.
Danny grinned.
"It's an arcade and one of my personal favorites..."Danny said as he lead her inside.
Mandie saw many loud machines and bright lights, as well as humans who seemed to be mesmerized by everything, like they were glued to the screens or something.
She even wondered if a couple of these bright machines that go beep-boop had some sort of brainwashing effect on creatures with low intelligence. Especially given that some of them seemed to even be drooling or have slovenly appearances right now.
"Clearly, none of these people here are warrior material..."She mentally commented, not impressed with them but still curious as they walked into the arcade.
They briefly stopped for a moment once they saw Mandie, like they were stunned speechless by her.
"Why are they staring at me?..."She asked, getting defensive but Danny calmed her down.
"I think you're probably the prettiest girl to come in here, so you're probably like some angel before their eyes or something..."Danny said. "Honestly, I can see why..."He admitted, unable to say otherwise.
Mandie perked up upon hearing that, mostly since Danny just called her pretty, even if she was still in disguise. Still, she looked a little bashful and briefly nervous, which only added to her appeal.
Danny then showed her around, explaining that like the carnival, these are games but they are mostly digital and if you win enough tickets, you can get a prize that is on the counter.
Mandie seemed intrigued and wanted to try this out.
She then stopped by a machine that says "Whack a mole" and it got her attention.
"Whack a mole?..."She asked and Danny smiled.
"An all time classic. In this game, you have to take one of these plastic mallets and hit the moles every time they come out to score a point. The more you hit, the more points and tickets you get..."He explained.
Mandie smiled upon hearing this.
"Ah, a game that involved striking down your opponents before they have a chance to attack you first, as well as hitting targets with speed and accuracy. My kind of game..."She said, intrigued.
Danny felt a pang of regret hit him, wondering if he did the right thing showing the girl this game.
"This might have been a bad idea...nah, it's just a game..." He thought as the the alien girl eyed the game with curiosity.
"This machine kinda reminds me of a combat training device Mark had back in my universe, that employed similar features..."Mandie said, causing Danny to raise a brow.
"Well, this isn't for training. It's for fun. Watch..."Danny said as he took a put a token in the machine, took a mallet and began hitting the little plastic moles as best as he could.
Thanks to his ghost training, he had faster reflexes and managed to hit most of the targets as soon as they popped out of the holes, as well as get a lot of tickets from it.
"Your turn..."Danny said as he placed another coin in the game and handed the mallet to Mandie.
The alien princess grinned and gripped the mallet menacingly.
"I am ready!..."She said, holding it tightly with a look on her face that was screaming "Determined to win, no matter what".
It was amazing but Mandie managed to hit every single one of the moles with such speed and precision that the robotic creatures didn't even have a chance to get away. Once it was over, the machine then said "New High Score" and lights flashed.
"Uh, is this good?..."Mandie asked.
"Are you kidding? That was great!..."Danny said, impressed by her high score and ignoring the part where Mandie displayed an almost bloodthirsty skill against the mechanical moles.
"At least they can't feel pain and she didn't do too much damage..."He thought, sighing in relief and not sure if he should mention this to Sam or not about Mandie's cruelty to un-living, plastic animals.
Mandie smiled, feeling happy that she had the ghost boy cheering on her combat skills, boosting her warrior's pride to new highs. Though, she ignored the unneeded attention she was getting from the other patrons.
"Now this is fun. I want to play more of these games!..."Mandie said, excited and happy.
Even if it's a small victory, she likes it and Danny seemed to be enjoying himself. She even wondered what praise she might get with all these tickets she won just now.
She looked around for anything she might like, which was hard to tell as there were so many games. She felt so pumped and eager right now that she wanted to try something else.
She noticed a lot of games that were fighting games or space themed and she seemed intrigued, especially for the ones that says "DOOMED", "Crash Nebula" and really interesting one that says "Fighters" on it
She couldn't wait to get started.
"Come on, let's try that one that says "Fighters" next. I have a feeling that it will be easy for us..."Mandie said, eager for more.
"Whatever you say, Princess..."Danny said as he obliged her.
Later
A few more hours had passed and Danny and Mandie played practically every game the arcade had to offer.
Danny had explained the basics of each game to the alien princess, who pretty much dominated nearly every single game in the arcade. Mandie seemed to have a real talent for the fitting games and easily managed to win at the space and fighting games, no surprise there.
"I must say, these games are rather amusing. While some of the fighting moves are either unrealistic or impractical, they special effects are decent and even some of the fighting combinations have merit..."Mandie commented after finishing another fighting game.
"I guess being a warrior since birth, you know all about that sort of stuff..."Danny said.
"Just about..."Mandie said with a shrug.
"Though while that last space game had a rather inaccurate depiction of the Andromeda galaxy, it was still entertaining to play..."Mandie commented.
"Well, video games aren't really known for scientific accuracy, just fun..."Danny said and Mandie nodded.
They played a few more games and now they were on a dance style game and Danny and Mandie had challenged each other to it. Mandie however, showed to be more graceful than him and the ghost boy was almost mesmerized by her body moving to the beat of the music from the dancing game, almost as if she was intentionally trying to show off how she moves her body if front of him...which wouldn't be too surprising.
Soon, the game ended and lights flashed, music was heard as Mandie was deemed the winner and got another high score.
"Victory!..."Mandie cheered, while many of the arcade patrons applauded her.
Mostly they were stunned by her looks and how she managed to win at most of the games here. Especially the guys who kept drooling at her.
"I think I'm in love!..."One arcade patron said but was ignored.
Mandie just enjoyed her victory and collected more of her tickets.
"Darling, look at all these tickets that we've won together..."She said, thrilled about these "spoils of war" in her hands right now.
"I gotta say, you really are getting the hang of this. I think you won every game here..."Danny said. "Now come on, I think you have enough tickets to get a prize..."He said.
"Very well, let's claim our prizes now..."Mandie said.
Danny lead Mandie to the prize table and the alien princess just dumped several hundred tickets on the counter, while the guy in charge seemed surprised.
"I do believe that you must present to me a prize of equal amount of my many tickets..."Mandie ordered while the guy quickly counted them and saw that there were close to 1,000 of them.
"Well, you seem to have enough to get whatever you want on this shelf. You can take any of these..."The guy said as he motioned to several of the prizes on display.
Mandie looked at them, paused as she tried to consider them. She then noticed that Danny's eyes had been on a collectors model of the lunar lander and smirked, already making her choice.
"I shall take this one..."She declared, pointing at it.
The guy complied and gave it to her.
"Nice, you've got great eye for model spacecrafts..."Danny complimented.
"Thank you..."She said as the walked out together.
She then handed it to him, surprising the ghost boy.
"Here..."She said.
"You serious?..."He asked, stunned.
"Of course, I chose this for you..."Mandie said, smiling.
Danny smiled and gratefully took the spacecraft model from her, looking touched as he sent her an appreciative look.
"Thanks, Mandie..."He said, appreciating this.
Mandie smiled, happy and knowing that she made the right move.
"We're making more progress, I just know it..."She thought, thrilled.
However, Danny noticed how late it was getting and that soon, they had to get back home.
"Oh man, it looks like we're gonna have to call it a day soon..."He said, almost sad that their dat-...I mean, outing was gonna be over soon.
"What? Already?..."Mandie whined.
"Sorry Mandie, believe me, I actually want to continue this but I got homework and curfew..."Danny said.
The alien princess pouted, until it just registered that he just admitted he wanted to spend more time with her.
"I suppose that this much will suffice for now..."She thought, pleased with the progress so far.
"Very well then...but before we go..."She said, as she decided to make one last move before leaving.
Before exiting, Mandie had grabbed another cone of ice cream, she smiled widely at the treat before scarfing it down voraciously.
"Delicious!..."Was all she said before she was ready to leave.
Danny chuckled at this side of her. Who knew such a fierce warrior would have such a love of sweets.
Anyway, the two soon left the mall together, feeling a lot better as they decided to fly back.
Later
Danny soon brought Mandie back to where her ship was and the alien princess turned off the cloaking device, returning to her original yet still beautiful appearance.
"Finally, that earth form might be considered pretty, but it feels good to be in my real form again..."Mandie commented, taking the fake-i-fier off.
"If you say so..."The ghost boy said, while the alien girl turned to him once more.
"I'm glad that you brought me to that mall of yours, Danny. It was...fun!..."Mandie said with a chipper tone at the end.
"Glad to hear that..."Danny said, since he can't deny it.
He had fun too. This is the second time he hung out with Mandie and he truly enjoyed himself...and not just because she beat up Dash or looked good in that new dress that she bought and promised to pay him back for.
"Weird...last month, I couldn't stand her and wanted to be as far away as possible from her...and now, we're hanging out and I'm actually having fun with her..."He thought, finding it ironic.
However, he recalled that it's getting late and he is due home soon, lest he wants to get scolded by his parents...again.
"I guess it's time to go home, right?..."Danny asked.
"Yes...but I want to do this again...soon..."Mandie said as she looked at Danny intensely. "Thanks for this spectacular event..."She said.
"Yeah, I think I'd like that too..."He admitted, before looking at the prize Mandie won him and turned to her, still smiling.
"Thanks again for getting me this lunar lander model ...and thanks for standing up to Dash for me..."Danny replied back, staring into the girl's eyes, meaning it.
Mandie blushed and looked bashful, making her look more endearing than the fierce warrior she usually tries to be.
"Oh, it was nothing. That blonde fool isn't that much better than Brutis. He might be big but he lacks any true fighting skills compared to me..."Mandie said, being her version of modest.
"Just remember what I said, even though I appreciate you trying to stick up for me, I rather you NOT try and pulverize Dash if it can be avoided..."Danny reminded.
"And I will remind you that as long as you promise to try and make sure that fools like him understand that they are beneath you, I will let you handle things yourself but if that oaf gives us trouble again, I am not to be blamed for whatever happens to him. Especially since he seems to be only slightly less annoying that Brutis..."Mandie said, not promising or denying anything.
Danny sighed but knew that's the best he's gonna get out of her. Still, he chuckled and couldn't find himself to be annoyed with her right now.
Mandie laughed too and they both truly left at ease around each other. The alien girl smiled sincerely at the ghost boy, still feeling something special around him.
"Thank you for such a wonderful day, Danny..."Mandie said.
"Thank you for inviting me to hang out. I really did have a good time...more than I thought I would..."Danny said, rubbing the back of his head in a sheepish manner.
Mandie, however, felt more of those feelings stirring within her. Feelings that she's only ever been able to feel around him. She blushed barely able to keep her emotions in check as she blurted out the first thing in her mind.
"I want a kiss..."She said, almost out of the blue.
Danny was caught off guard at that, blushing and sending her a stern look.
"Mandie, we've talked about this..."Danny said.
Mandie pouted and crossed her arms, trying to convince him to make an exception this time.
"You said that I could still ask and we could discuss weather it'd be appropriate or not..."Mandie said, reminding him of that side of their agreement. "Haven't I deserve at least one kiss for today? Even a small one?..."She said, like she was whining.
Danny sighed and tried to reason with her, while trying his best to stop his face from turning red ...with little success.
"I still think that it's bit early to from former-enemies-turned-friends hanging out to suddenly making out with each other?..."He said but saw the somber look on the alien girl's face, like she's truly not happy with this.
The ghost boy felt a bit guilty that he might have come off as a little harsh there before he found himself actually considering this.
"I cannot believe I'm doing this..."He mused as he thought up of a good enough compromise.
He sighed and decided to indulge her a bit, but only on his terms.
"Okay fine, since you helped me out with Dash, I guess I can make a small exception...but just this once..."He said sternly, making sure that nothing gets misunderstood here.
"Wait...really?..."Mandie said, looking eager.
"Yeah, but only one though..."Danny said, still being stern with her.
Mandie nodded her head, feeling a spark of joy light up inside her as she made her next request.
"On the lips..."Mandie said, looking eager.
"Cheek!..."Danny said, still being stern with her.
Mandie pouted a bit but decided to settle for this, but not before adding her own conditions.
"But I can tell my friends that it was on the lips and that it was mutual..."Mandie said.
"Fine, whatever...but just one peck though, that's it..."Danny said, as he readied himself.
The alien princess gladly obliged has she presented her cheek to him. Danny sighed before he then planted a kiss on her cheek, noticing that it was much softer than he thought.
When he pulled back, he saw a deep blush on Mandie's face and a strange expression on her face. He also felt his face turn red too as he stared back.
"Uh..."He thought as he looked.
Mandie had a dreamy look on her face and her blush was a lovely shade of red, matching some of the lipstick she had bought at the mall earlier today.
She seemed to be in some kind of daze that even the ghost boy took notice of it, like she was off on her own little world or something.
Uh, Mandie..."Danny said, as he waved his hand across her face.
Mandie seemed to snap out of whatever fantasy she was in and came back to her senses.
She then looked embarrassed or something and stepped back, like she was about to do something like act on her feelings and forget about boundaries before she was brought back to reality.
"Oh, uh...T-that was nice, Danny. T-Thank you..."The alien girl stammered, as she was blushing a bright red storm on her face.
Danny seemed surprised by this reaction while the alien princess almost couldn't look him directly into his eyes.
"I...I should probably get home before my parents realize that I'm not training...I think your parents might wonder the same thing..."She said.
"Uh, they don't expect me to train but I see your point..."He said as the ship's doors opened.
"Bye Mandie..."Danny waved, while the alien looked back to him.
To his surprise, Mandie still seemed to have that shy look on her face, she seemed to be deep in though before smiling back to him.
"Bye, Danny. Until next time..."She said, sounding shy as she went inside her ship, the doors soon closing right behind her.
The ship soon took off and in less than a minute, left earth's atmosphere.
Danny stood there until it was out of sight, feeling a bit sad to see it gone. Though a part of him was still curious by Mandie's new behavior and sudden lack of eye contact, all because of a kiss on the cheek.
"Hard to believe that she's the same girl that chained me up to make out with me a few weeks ago..."He thought, finding it ironic.
Still, he smiled, unable to deny that he had fun with her again and he didn't regret this day at all.
"This was fun, I honestly wouldn't mind doing this more often..."He said as he took off, wanting to get home before curfew.
Unknown to the ghost boy, a certain someone had been watching from a distance with much anger and disdain over what she just witnessed...including the kiss that had happened and she were NOT happy to say the least.
It was Sam, who had been "keeping an eye on them" and while she briefly lost the two earlier, managed to spot them again as Danny flew to the woods and just had to follow them here.
She almost regretted doing so, especially after seeing that kiss between them and the smile that was on the ghost boy's face after the alien girl had left.
"That conniving little space vixen! HOW DARE SHE?!..."She grumbled, her binoculars nearly breaking in half after her crush/friend had planted the kiss on the face of the newest threat to his and Earth's safety.
Needless to say, she did NOT like this at all.
She soon left the area as well, fuming as she tried to think up new ways of getting rid of the alien girl, with or without Danny's help at all.
In the ship
The alien princess was sitting in her seat, while her droids piloted the ship, setting it's course to Boudacia.
However, her mind wasn't on that.
Her mind was on Danny, no surprise there and the day they spent together. However, she was much more focused on what did just a few minutes ago...something that she's still reeling in.
"He kissed me...and not to trick me or anything..."Mandie thought as she held her cheek, still feeling his lips there.
She blushed more.
This is the first time he ever kissed her without it being some plot to trick her and...okay, she might have asked for the kiss and had to haggle with him a bit for it but she knew for a fact that if Danny TRULY didn't want to kiss her, he would have flat out refused and be too stubborn to change his mind.
Here, he kissed her...yes, it was on the cheek and only lasted a second but it still felt as if something stirred within Mandie, like the feeling of butterflies fluttering around in her stomach
She felt that feeling around him many times since he saved her but it was stronger now...and she liked that feeling.
The alien girl had a dreamy smile on her face and felt her body wobble a bit. She could barely keep her own girlish squealing to herself and ignored her droids who were sending her questioning looks.
She was feeling such overwhelming joy right now, having had such a wonderful day with her beloved and even getting a kiss from him...
"Maybe there really is a chance for us, this long term plan really is paying off..."She thought, feeling blissful during the rest of her ride back to her planet.
Though the ride back to her planet was a blur, her mind was still on the ghost boy who the key to a special place into her heart and who she just knew she was destined to get closer to, sooner or later.
She just knew that things were looking up for them.
