"Too bad," Castle told his wife.

Nodding her head in response Beckett said, "I kind of figured she wouldn't know anything."

"Though I do wonder why Harrington lied about Eaton having a thing for Vernon," Castle said.

"It isn't obvious?" Beckett said with a brief smile before she took the mug of coffee he was giving her. "She wants revenge on Eaton brushing her off after their encounter."

"But where exactly does that information leave us?" Castle asked.

"No real suspects to be honest," Darnley said, in the breakroom with them.

Beckett was about to speak when her phone suddenly started to ring and she got it from her pocket. "Skye," she told the other two.

"Hopefully they're still coming next week," Darnley said to Castle who nodded.

"Hey," Beckett said in greeting to her friend.

"Hullo yourself, this isn't a casual call," Skye said.

Startled when his wife abruptly became serious, Castle was about to ask what was wrong when she was motioning to him and he got up, racing to Brad's office.

"What is it?" the chief asked, startled at the sound of running.

"Skye's talking to Kate right now," Castle said. "I think she has something for our case."

"What?" Brad asked in surprise as he was getting up from his desk.

After they were back inside the breakroom Beckett said, "Alright, Brad's here."

"Great, I hope this helps your case," Skye said on the phone. "Hopefully you don't mind that I know."

"No, I'm aware of your discretion," Brad answered. "What do you have?"

"An engine," Skye said, looking at it in front of her.

"Where are you?" Brad asked, sharing startled looks with everyone.

"At home," Skye replied. "I'm off for the rest this week too remember. But I wasn't expecting this, or this note from Bernard."

"How do you know our vic?" Brad said.

Skye sighed and said, "He's participated in the Reno Air Races before. We got to talking because we ended up racing the same kind of plane and became friends since he's been going regularly."

"Was he there at last year's races?" Beckett asked.

"Oh of course," Skye said. "If you're asking how he was, he was fine. He told me about the museum… he asked us to come see it since I'd mentioned we were going to be in the Hamptons for Christmas. He was really eager for me to see the new wing he was going to put in. It was about World War I vehicles and he said if it would do well he'd definitely put in another for the Second World War."

"He never mentioned anyone was angry with him?" Castle asked.

"Yes, a man named Owen Corwin," Skye said. "He said the man had been attempting to buy him out but he wouldn't sell- I'm talking about the museum."

"Of course," Brad said. "Anything else?"

"Yes, he said he was a little concerned there might be something about to happen," Skye replied. "Either Corwin or the family that claimed they owned the Phantom."

"What family is that?" Brad asked.

"The Van Wieren's," Skye answered.

"The… did you know his wife at all?" Brad asked.

"Yeah, Eileen was there, she was very nice especially since she's aware of how close I am to you Kate," Skye replied. "But the worries about her family didn't really come up since Bernard begged me not to mention it to her since she hasn't spoken with her family for a long time. Or Owen."

"Why would she talk to him?" Castle asked.

"You… didn't know?" Skye asked slowly.

"Know what?" Castle said in confusion.

"That he was her cousin by marriage," Skye replied. When there was no response she then said, "You didn't I guess."

"That wasn't in the information," Brad said with a frown. "His wife's maiden name is William."

"It's a weird story," Skye said. "A year ago Bernard told me before I met Eileen after the races not to mention her family because her cousins were in the midst of a separation and were bothering her about it."

"How close was Eileen to the Corwins?" Beckett asked in confusion.

"Not especially, he said they saw them for Thanksgiving and that was about it," Skye replied. "But what they wanted were in effect character witnesses from Eileen for them both in the divorce."

"They haven't gotten a divorce yet," Castle said.

"Oh, well he said Eileen was against it since she would have had to lie anyway," Skye commented. "So if it had gone through she would have refused to do it." She paused and then asked, "Do you think they would have killed them both for that?"

"It's a motive," Castle said while he was looking at Brad.

"It is, but it isn't Mr. Corwin, he had an alibi," the chief said.

"Then Mrs. Corwin," Skye said. "Now, that's all I know about my friends that might pertain to your case. What about this engine?"

"Did he mention that to you?" Beckett asked.

"Only that he felt the need to hide it," Skye said. "His reasoning was the expense of it and of course the Van Wierens trying to get it by nefarious means."

"What about them, did he explain that family?" Darnley said.

"Just that he'd be stuck with lawyers for ages," Skye said.

"Skye?" Castle asked suddenly when there was a pause. "Do you think you could see if there was something hidden inside the engine?"

"Are you serious?" Skye asked.

"No, he has a point," Darnley said. "Joseph's told me the story of how a great… something uncle of his smuggled money in the engine of his car back in Cape Town to his neighborhood."

"The way an engine works…" Skye said before she stopped herself and sighed. "You are serious."

"Yes, there has to be a place where anything important could be protected," Castle said.

"Do you think you could do that?" Brad asked though he wasn't surprised his doubt was still in his tone.

"I guess," Skye said. "Though after this…"

"There was nothing with the engine?" Beckett then asked. "No letter or note?"

"There was, but all it says is Please keep this with you and safe until you can reunite it like the mason did," Skye replied. "And I know that's Bernard's handwriting."

"Mason?" Castle asked. "Who's that?"

"No idea, I've never across that name besides the case you two solved about the psychic," Skye answered. "But at least you have that name," she added before the chief was speaking a little wryly.

"Does that mean you want to go?" Brad asked her.

"If I'm going to look into this… oh hey Mary," Skye said. "Hold on a second."

"Where do you have the engine right now in your house?" Brad asked.

"The office, as soon as I saw it I knew it needed to come in here," Skye replied. "The safe and everything," she added.

"Great, I remember it," Brad said. "Keep it there when you're not working on it okay?"

"I will," Skye replied. "And if I find anything I'll let you know right away. But… could you keep me updated? It's a huge loss to the races with Bernard's death and… the loss of my friends."

"Friends?" Mary asked.

"You can tell her, I get the feeling you would have anyway," Brad said. "Just keep it confident."

"I will," the doctor said firmly.

"Good luck," Skye told them.

"And to you," Darnley replied.

"Be careful with the engine," Castle said.

"I know what to do," Skye assured him.

"Also be careful yourself," Beckett added. "We're not sure what's going on with that engine exactly."

"We will be," Skye replied before she was telling them all goodbye. After she'd hung up she asked, "So you're done until next year?"

"Don't change the subject," Mary said. "What is this and why is it in our office?"

"The engine for a 1933 Rolls Royce Phantom II," Skye said.

"So it's Bernard's," Mary said.

Sighing Skye explained what she'd been told by their Hamptons friends and wasn't surprised when her wife covered her mouth with her hands hearing both Vernons had been murdered. "She never said anything to you about this or anyone," she stated when she was done, watching her wife frowning for a moment before she spoke.

"No, since Bernard told you not to mention it to her I'm not really surprised," Mary replied. "But this engine…"

"It's alright if it stays," Skye told her. "We need to keep it safe."

"That's fine, but that note?" Mary asked.

Shaking her head Skye said, "I read it about five times before I called Kate. But I can't make heads or tails of it."

"Then when do we start?" Mary asked.

"Start?" Skye responded immediately.

"Yes, I'll help you," Mary said, surprised when her wife shook her head before the investigator was stepping up to her.

"Fine but we should have something to eat first," Skye said. "Or did you eat lunch?"

"I didn't," Mary replied before she took her wife's kiss. Responding, they were holding onto each other tightly before they were carefully parting. "I guess we'll need to hurry," she said.

"A little," Skye replied with a smile. They leaned into each other and brushed their lips together before they were leaving the room. They changed in their room and back downstairs in the kitchen they were hurrying to make a quick lunch and eat though they did pause for a few brief kisses. "Are you okay?" she asked her wife when they were eventually walking back into their office.

"I managed to keep you from plowing through your salad," Mary said with a smile. "I'll get the towels."

"I'll grab the tools," Skye said before they were hurrying to get what they needed. Since she finished first she was standing in front of the engine, holding the note in her hand.

"I don't think another read will help," Mary told her wife while she set down some towels and rags. Since she'd had old bed sheets under the pile she was spreading them around before Skye was helping.

"You'll help me document this right?" the investigator asked once everything was ready. She saw Mary getting her phone out and said, "Okay, let's get started," trying not to become too intimidated by the engine.

Filming everything her wife was doing, Mary was startled when she suddenly paused and asked, "What is it?"

"There's something here," Skye replied.

"Something?" Mary echoed.

"Something fabric," Skye said, trying to get a better grip on it. She pulled it out and looked at her wife before she carefully opened the drawstring pouch, shaking out what was inside. "Now I know what the note was saying," she told Mary after they'd shared a shocked look.

"You better call them," Mary said.

"Definitely," Skye agreed while she handed the pouch back to her wife and raced for her phone.

"Please keep this with you and safe until you can reunite it like the mason did," Castle read as he was writing the contents of the note on a second board in Brad's office.

"Yeah, I'm not sure you're going to be able to figure this one out," Darnley said.

"Did you know Skye and Mary knew our vics?" Brad asked Beckett who he was standing next to.

"Yes, but we never thought of mentioning it," she replied.

"It makes sense," Darnley said. "I was aware of it though I didn't connect the names." He saw the confused expressions on his friends' face and said, "Sorry, they told us their names but I never made the connection… maybe because I was thinking of Bernard Vernon as only a car enthusiast."

"Me too," Castle said. "Do you trust her to dismantle the engine?" he couldn't help asking Brad.

"Oh I do, I saw that video of her working on her plane's engine," the chief said.

"But that's a plane engine," Castle said.

"You've seen one right?" Darnley asked him.

"I'm just making sure this is okay," Castle replied before his wife was nudging his side with her elbow gently. "Sorry. So what're we doing now?"

"I need to call Thayer," Brad said.

"Oh yeah, he hasn't called yet," Darnley said. When the chief left where they were standing and headed to his desk he said, "You think it's because it's two or it's too difficult?"

"I would say both," Castle commented. He looked at his wife and asked, "Okay?"

"Yes, something's bothering me though," Beckett replied, rubbing at the back of her neck.

"Julia?" Castle asked her.

"No, they're here," Beckett said, breathing hard after she'd hesitated a moment to respond. She wasn't surprised when he was turning fully to her and said, "I can't see them, I just sense them here."

"I'm going to call Skye-" Castle said, about to get his phone from his pocket before she was stopping him and talking firmly at the same time.

"Don't, she's not going to be able to do anything," Beckett said. She saw the immediate displeasure on her husband's face and asked, "You want her to… get them to go to her don't you?"

"That would be nice," Castle replied, speaking as resolutely as she had.

"They're not going to," Beckett said.

"The least you can do is not hold yourself so tense," Castle said, gently grabbing her arm. When she gave him a look he said, "Let me."

"No, they're staying here," Beckett replied. She was a little startled when her husband wrapped his arm around her and she was about to tell him to stop when she felt she was relaxing. "I hate this," she told him.

"Don't let Julia hear you say that," Castle told her, smiling when she laughed softly.

"I have to tell her," Beckett said.

"Do you think they'll go to her?" Darnley asked in concern.

Watching his wife looking to the side for a moment Castle couldn't help saying, "You can hear them," not surprised when she was hesitating before answering slowly.

"No," Beckett said before she stopped and frowned.

"You can say," Darnley told her encouragingly after he'd seen Castle gently squeezing his wife's shoulder.

"It's like I'm aware of what they've said already," Beckett said slowly.

"So…" Castle started to say before Darnley was stopping him.

"It's okay, Skye said when she first started noticing her abilities that's how she communicated with spirits," the carpenter told his friend.

"What're you talking about?" Brad asked, walking over to them.

"Did Thayer finish the autopsies?" Beckett responded with her own inquiry.

"He did, they were both killed by a .45," Brad replied.

"I noticed from the photos of E- Mrs. Vernon," Beckett began. "But Mr. Vernon?"

"The wound was where the figure pushed through his chest," Brad said grimly. He then sighed and said, "Thayer's saying it looks deliberate."

"Of course, that was his prized possession," Castle said. "So why not?" He paused and then said, "It does speak to rage though, with the force the figure almost came out of his chest."

"That's what I was thinking," Brad replied. "But for an engine?"

"Or what's inside it," Beckett said, realizing she was tensing up.

"Kate-" Castle said in concern since he was still holding onto her and had felt her stiffening.

"No, it's alright," Beckett told him rapidly. "I just got the sudden urge to look inside the engine."

"I'm calling Skye, right-" Castle began to say before his wife was cutting him off by gripping his arm tightly.

"Don't, I can handle this," Beckett replied.

"What's going on?" Brad said to Darnley. When the carpenter murmured to him what had been going on while he was on the phone his eyes widened before he looked back at the couple.

"Why can't I tell her to take Bernard and Eileen? She can handle that," Castle was telling his wife.

"I'm afraid they'll go to Julia," Beckett admitted though she had hesitated to speak.

"True," Castle said. "Do you think you'll be able to handle them for a little longer?" he asked her seriously.

"Yes, just until Skye is ready," Beckett said. She then turned her attention to Brad and asked, "Where does this leave us?"

"I think we need to talk to Corwin," Brad said.

"Did you talk to the hospital?" Castle asked.

"I did, he's just woken up so I think we can go," Brad replied before they were leaving the room and heading out to their cars.

As soon as they stepped outside the elevator at the hospital, the four paused hearing the sound of yelling in the distance before they hurried to the nurse's desk.

"What's going on?" Brad asked, showing his badge to the men and women behind the counter.

"Thank god, they've been yelling at each other in there for a while," a male nurse said.

"Who?" Castle asked.

"Mr. and Mrs. Corwin they're in room six twenty," another nurse said. "We were just about to call the police," she added.

"Well, we're here," Brad said before they were going around the desk.

"Think they're going to go ahead with the divorce?" Castle asked the others. "Finally," he added.

"I hope so, if this is how they're talking to each other," Darnley commented since the yelling was getting louder. "Though we are going to hear some of what they're saying."

"And that's a bad thing?" Castle asked him wryly.

"Are you okay?" Brad directed to Beckett, not surprised when her husband was immediately turning to her.

"I'm fine," she said. "I'm feeling… they're feeling agitation," Beckett said, having to correct herself, startled when Brad was making them stop.

"Do you think you should be coming with us?" the chief asked. He took a step back in response to the look he immediately got from her.

"I'm fine, it's something I'm not used to but it's not debilitating," Beckett said sternly. "Let's keep going because I'd like to wrap up this case for them."

Suddenly realizing the couple might want to pass on when the case was finished, Castle was about to ask her what she would do in that case when the other three were starting to walk. "Kate," he told her, touching her arm.

"I'm fine Rick," Beckett told him with a brief smile.

"But after? They might want to-" Castle started to say when there was a sudden gunshot before the four of them were immediately racing down the hall to Corwin's room.
