Chapter 17

Thank you to Trini12180, Guest, and Liason for your reviews. I apologize if it seemed I was only providing recaps. I felt I needed to set things up for Liason, and their time in the studio was essential to their relationship. Jason leaving and Lucky returning will start the change in the storyline.

January-March 2000

January 2000

Summary:

Jason leaves town.

Carly moves out of the Quartermaines, and she continues to cause problems. Carly finds out she is pregnant.

Jason and Roy refuse to give information on the attempted bombing. Sonny tests Roy's loyalty, and he passes with flying colors.

Emily and Elizabeth make amends after their fight. Elizabeth is threatened.

Faison escapes. Helena has secrets.

1/1-10/2000

Elizabeth parks behind her father's car at home. She checks her watch, almost 1 am. She lets herself inside. She leaves a note for her father to wake her up before he leaves for GH. She takes a long hot shower. She is not looking forward to telling him what happened. She crawls under the covers and falls asleep. Jeff awakens and starts a pot of coffee. He is surprised to see his daughter's car parked behind his Jeep Wrangler. He finds Elizabeth's note and knocks on her door. Elizabeth, I'm leaving for GH in an hour. You'll need to move your car, and if you still need to talk, let me know."

Elizabeth quickly puts on a pair of jeans and a T-shirt. She walks barefoot to the kitchen and gives her father a peck on the cheek. She pours a cup of coffee and adds cream. She sighs and says, "Dad, there is something you need to know, and I want you to hear it from me first."

"Is this about what happened at the hospital party?"

"No, but it does involve Jason. Someone put a bomb in my studio, but it was diffused. I'm fine; Jason got me out without incident. The police haven't cleared the building yet, but I intend to return when it is safe."

Jeff runs his hand through his hair and sighs, "Elizabeth, I'd prefer you live here. Your friendship with Jason concerns me."

"I understand your concern. You could try to get me to stay, but I wouldn't be happy. My studio is close to Kelly's and PCU. I've kept my grades up and have stayed in touch with Gram. I need my independence, and there is no such thing as a risk-free life."

"I can see you've given this much thought. Sometimes, I wish we were Catholic, and I could send you to a convent, but I know you'd run away if I did."

I love you, dad. I promise to be by more often, even if only to do my laundry." She jokes.

Elizabeth, unable to find Jason, seeks out Sonny. She questions him about Jason, who she's been unable to reach since the bomb incident. He assures her Jason is fine, just out of town on business. Elizabeth asks Sonny to have Jason call her.

Sonny tells Jason about Elizabeth's visit and that she worries about him. Jason explains how he helps her. Sonny notices the change in Jason's voice when he talks about Elizabeth. He smiles as Jason tells him he has to leave. He goes to the diner, and Elizabeth is happy to see him. She says, "I told my father what happened, and while he's disappointed in my decision to move back to the studio, he supports me."

"Maybe your father has a point. I've brought danger into your life. As long as you are around me, you aren't safe. You can't…be…around me anymore. I'm sorry."

"That's my decision to make. The only time I don't hurt is when I'm with you. You are the only person who listens to me with no expectations."

"I can't put you in danger again. I know you hate to be told what to do, but I do, too, and I understand it more now. It's harder to watch someone you care about get hurt than it is to hurt yourself. There's no way I'm putting you in danger again."

"Fine, let me ask you a question. Do you put restrictions on seeing Emily? She is important to you. Why am I different? Why can Emily be around you but not me?"

"I…..I….uhh….I don't know." Jason thinks Elizabeth's questions are valid but can't explain why he worries about Elizabeth's safety when he should be just as concerned about Emily.

"That's fine because I don't need one more person to think I'm some precious doll that needs to be wrapped up in cotton."

"Elizabeth, I'm sorry."

"So am I."

"I didn't want it to be this way."

Elizabeth shouts, "Out of everyone I know, I thought you were different. I thought you understood. My mistake." Jason tries to apologize, but she runs into the diner.

Jason walks through the park in the snow, replaying Elizabeth's words. How can he explain to her his feelings have changed? Of course, his sister is important to him, but she has always been safe. Robin was in danger around him, and Elizabeth is now a target. He thinks, "I'm a hypocrite. Elizabeth is right."

Audrey enters Kelly's, "Your father told me about New Year's Eve and your intention of living at the studio. Are you with Jason now?"

"No, Jason moved out. I'll start painting again but won't move back until after Dad and I visit Sarah."

"I was hoping with your father back, he'd talk some sense into you, but you are his daughter, and like him, you enjoy your independence. I don't like it, but I will support your choices."

1/12-31/2000

Sorel approaches Elizabeth. She says, "I'm not interested in anything you have to say," and continues to walk past him. Sorel mentions Jason, which gets her attention. He makes insinuations and threats when Jason appears. Jason tackles Sorel and holds him while ordering Elizabeth to leave immediately. She refuses, so Jason tells Sorel to leave her alone, threatens him, and tosses him aside. He runs away.

Jason tells her to stay away and listen to him the next time he says to leave. Elizabeth refuses to leave him if he is in danger. "Is he the one who shot you?"

"Him or one of his men. Don't you get it? This is not a game, Elizabeth!"

"Don't you think I know that? I was the one who found you in the snow. I care about you, Jason. Stop asking me to pretend that I don't."

"I care about you, too. I'm staying away because I care."

"It doesn't seem to be working since Sorel knows I matter after you attacked him. If I'm willing to risk it, why can't we still be friends? Would you miss me?" Jason nods. "I'd miss you too. I don't see why I should have to."

"I have to be able to trust you."

"You can."

"There are certain aspects of my work I can't tell you. It's safer for you not to know."

"I promise you can trust me."

"Okay then."

"Okay, what then?"

"Okay, we can go for a ride because I know that's all you wanted." He grins.

Elizabeth playfully shoves him on the shoulder, "Unfair and completely untrue."

Jason smiles and teases her until she asks where his bike is.

"I get to drive, right?" He shakes his head and laughs.

After the ride, Jason warns her to call him immediately if she sees Sorel again.

Luke and Faison meet on the pier beside Faison's escape boat, and Faison claims that Lucky is alive. He is about to tell Luke more when Mac arrives, shooting his gun. Luke and Mac struggle over the weapon as Faison gets away in the boat, and it explodes.

"Goddamit Bubba; Faison said he had info about my boy. He says Lucky is alive. Now, I may never know." Luke retraces Faison's steps to discover whether Lucky is actually alive. Before leaving, he said goodbye to his loved ones. He tells Roy his plans but doesn't want Laura to know until he proves his son is alive.

At Jason's, Carly arrives with Michael, explaining that he hasn't been sleeping and she is hoping Jason can work some of his "magic" and get Michael to sleep. Jason reads to him, and Michael falls asleep. Jason scolds Carly about bringing Michael over, saying that it confuses him, and Jason says she is just using Michael as a weapon. Carly maintains that she is not being manipulative; she is just trying to do what is best for all of them. After Carly leaves, Jason mumbles, "Robin, you were right."

Carly sits with Michael in his playroom. She tells him Jason is angry but will help them because he loves them. AJ enters and says, "Carly, we discussed you moving out after the new year. I think it's time. You aren't happy, and Grandfather will continue to pit us against each other to control Michael. Alexis dropped off the new custody agreement last night. We can sign and file with the courts tomorrow."

Carly thinks the timing is perfect. Moving out means she has more opportunities to convince Jason they belong together. "AJ, you are right. I should move out. I'll stay with my mother until I can find something permanent. I can pack up and move tomorrow."

"I can get one of the staff to help you. I don't want to overstep, but perhaps it will be better to get settled first before moving Michael to a new environment."

"What? No, Michael, comes with me."

"Carly, relax. We have a custody agreement. It's just three days, and Michael will move in with you. We can determine the time and days to share Michael later."

Carly is plotting in her mind. "This is perfect. I'll move in with Mama, and Jason will come around." She says, "Okay, AJ, you win. I'll have my mother set up a couple of rooms and move some of Michael's things there." Carly starts packing.

Carly moves into the Brownstone with her mother. Michael has his own room, and Letecia stays with Michael on the days he stays with Carly.

Jason decides to leave town and says goodbye to loved ones. Emily begs him to stay, but he promises to write and call. He tells Lila, Monica, and Alan goodbye. He apologizes for not being more present but understands they love him. He said after having Michael, he realized what unconditional love meant. He doesn't want Edward or Carly to know he's left. He asks them to make sure Michael is safe. Monica asks about AJ. Jason says, "For now, AJ needs deniability. The new custody agreement should be filed with the courts, but I don't want him to tip off Carly accidentally. If Carly doesn't behave, she could lose custody. The same could be said for AJ. You may not like it, but I'm asking Sonny to be a backup. He'll be eyes and ears. I've asked Emily to look for red flags."

Carly was at Kelly's, counting on a calendar with a worried look. Later, as Jason was on the docks preparing to leave, Carly stopped him. She says, "Jason, have I depended on you too much? I thought you would always be there for me and Michael."

"I can't, I won't, especially if you keep pulling those stunts. You need to give AJ a chance to be Michael's father. I will never love you the way you want, and I won't be your excuse for doing stupid stuff that hurts everyone, especially Michael. I can't be the one to clean up your messes."

"But Jase, I rely on you. Ever since I met you, I knew you were the kind of guy for me. I just ruined it by sleeping with Sonny."

Elizabeth and Jason got together after her shift, and he told her he was leaving town for good. Jason asked her if she was okay. She says, "Do you want me to say that I am? I can….."

"Elizabeth…"

"Don't ask me how I feel if you don't want to know."

He told her he was hurting people he loved by staying. He kissed her forehead and told her goodbye, and she said, "No, see you later."

Jason places his hand under her chin, lifts her face to him, and does something he never imagined doing. He gently brushes his lips against hers, brushes her hair away, and walks off. Elizabeth touches her lips with her fingertips and smiles.

Jason tells Sonny goodbye and gives him the paperwork for all his accounts. He tells him that he is his trustee. Jason says Carly was using Michael again, and Sonny's not surprised. "My leaving will force Carly to focus more on Michael. Please look after Elizabeth. If Sorel doesn't leave her alone, take him out.

Carly went to the PH looking for Jason, but Johnny wouldn't give her any info. She asked if Sonny was home, but Johnny said he was not to be disturbed. Despite his objections, Carly bursts in and demands to know where Jason is. Sonny told her he was gone and not coming back. She said he wasn't gone, that she had just seen him that afternoon, and again insisted that Sonny tell her where he had gone. She persisted, and he asked her if she had ever considered that Jason had been telling her goodbye. She said no and felt she and Jason had a real chance now. Sonny told her he was gone, that she would have to get used to it, and that he couldn't help her. She told him she was in real trouble and needed Jason's help. He said Jason didn't want her to find him. He asked if she didn't recognize a goodbye when she saw one. He then outlined all the ways that Carly had destroyed Jason's life. She said that Sonny didn't understand her and Jason. He said that Jason left because of her and that he wasn't going to call today or tomorrow or at all.

Emily arrives at the diner to tell Elizabeth about Jason's departure, but she already knows. They commiserated over the loss of Jason and shared memories. They agreed that they suspected Carly was somehow involved in the decision to leave town. Emily trashed Carly until Elizabeth explained she thought Jason left because of the bomb and his assumption that she would be in danger as long as he was around. Nikolas enters in time to hear Emily tell Elizabeth that Jason's leaving was not her fault. Nikolas admitted that he had overheard part of their conversation. He said he was sorry, as he understood it would be hard on Emily and Elizabeth.

Elizabeth brought Sonny brownies and explained that she felt responsible for driving Jason away, but Sonny disagreed. She told the story of how she and Jason met and how he thought he had to keep his distance after the bomb scare, but Sonny said that people disappointed Jason and that she was probably the only friend he could count on. He reminded her he was only a phone call away and offered her a home-cooked meal whenever she wanted.

Nikolas is waiting for Elizabeth to arrive at the docks. He asks if she wants to go to the movies. "I have an art assignment, but I'm procrastinating."

"Maybe a break is all you need."

"Sure, as long as I get to pick the movie."

Helena arrives and says, "How lovely to see my dear one smiling."

Scowling, Nikolas says, "Grandmother, I warned you not to approach my friends or my little sister."

Helena says, "Forgive my intrusion. I wish the two of you a pleasant evening. Miss Webber, I'm delighted you can make my grandson smile again." Stefan approaches and says if Helena wants to see Nikolas smile, she will leave. "Stefan, it warms my heart to see you upset. Nikolas, Elizabeth, I apologize for my son. Stefan is out of line for interfering in your 'friendship.' Elizabeth, you are lovely and just the kind of woman for a Cassadine." Helena walks away and places a call. "Make sure he forgets his love for the girl. The perfect revenge is for my grandson to take what was his."

Stefan apologizes to Elizabeth as Nikolas explains not to pay attention to Helena. Elizabeth says, "I know all about Helena from Lucky. Nikolas, I apologize, but can we postpone that movie?"

Nikolas is disappointed but says, "Sure, of course. I understand. Another time."

"I guess it's back to my project." Elizabeth walks away, relieved at the interruption. She thinks, "With everything else that is going on, I can't deal with Nikolas and his crazy family."

Carly got her jacket and went to visit Sonny. She says, "I had everything planned out for Jason and me. I knew Jason loved Michael. I was going to prove he loved Michael more than he loved Robin. Jason repeatedly told me he was in love with…" Carly starts to use one of the more colorful adjectives she's used to describe Robin, but she stops herself. Sonny loves Robin. "I knew Jason loved Robin. I knew ways to push her buttons. I was sure I could get her to betray Jason. I always knew one day, AJ would find out the truth. He was going for a paternity test, and I convinced myself Jason would fix it for me. I thought if Robin had told AJ the truth, it would have been the one thing that made Jason hate her. Jason would hate Robin and find a way to fix it anyway. I didn't plan on Jason being the one to tell AJ. I didn't plan for AJ to agree to that ridiculous custody arrangement. We decided it was time for me to get my own place and share Michael's custody. Jason and I were getting close again; I thought I'd move in with him, and we could be happy again, but I fucked up by getting into bed with you."

"We both got what we deserved. I egged you on regarding Elizabeth Webber. Before you interrupt, it is not her fault what happened. I won't let you trash her to appease your guilt."

"I wonder where Jason is."

"It doesn't matter as long as he's away from us. We destroy the people we love. I'll get Johnny to take you home." He opens the door to talk to Johnny, leaving Carly to gaze into the fire and remark softly, "By the way, Sonny, we're having a baby."

Emily and Juan were at Kelly's chatting with Elizabeth while she filled salt and pepper shakers. Elizabeth mentioned going to her studio after work to start painting. Emily expressed surprise. "Liz, aren't you scared to return?"

"Em, I won't live in fear or regrets."

Emily pulls her aside and asks, "Do you regret not having sex with Lucky?"

"No, I can't change the past. I once thought about regrets and what-ifs. I wasn't ready, and Lucky wasn't sure. You can't predict the future. I'm not about to regret something I wasn't ready to do. Em, are you asking about me, or are you asking me about you and Juan? If something happens and you aren't sure, that would be a regret."

Jeff and Elizabeth return to Port Charles after a two-day visit to Providence to see Sarah. Sarah shows her the campus at Brown, and Elizabeth keeps her sister up to date on PC happenings.

Elizabeth came into Kelly's for soup and a sandwich, and she talked with Tammy about how close she had gotten to Jason. Tammy told her Jason had done her a favor by leaving and making her safer. As she was leaving, Sorel stopped her. He tried to pressure Elizabeth into going with him. "Your friendship with Morgan is common knowledge. If you've heard from him, it would be in your best interest to tell me." Elizabeth refuses to leave, saying that Jason left PC weeks ago. "Are you sure you didn't sneak in a visit to your boyfriend when you saw your sister at that university?"

"I told you I don't know where Jason is. He is not my boyfriend. My sister barely knows him, and I was with my father the entire time."

Sorel places a hand on Elizabeth's shoulder, and she stiffens. "Relax, we know everywhere you went. I'm confident that Morgan isn't hiding out in some college town.

Tammy runs out the door with a baseball bat and orders him off. "Elizabeth is friends with Sonny, and he'd come down on you like the wrath of God for placing your hand on her. If you don't leave, I'll start swinging." Sorel backs off. Tammy tells Elizabeth, "Sorel won't give up. He'll keep hassling you. You need to tell Sonny." Elizabeth leaves a message for Sonny to call her as soon as possible. Tammy makes her promise not to go back to the studio until she talks to Sonny.

Sonny arrives at Kelly's, and Elizabeth tells Sonny about how Sorel cornered her outside. Sorel thought she'd know where Jason was. She then told him the story of the encounter in detail, including Tammy and the baseball bat, and Sonny promised that he would not allow Sorel to hurt either of them. Sonny instructed Johnny to have Elizabeth protected at all times and to schedule a meeting with Sorel immediately. He returned to Elizabeth, and they discussed where she could stay. They finally agreed Kelly's would provide the best cover for bodyguards. Sonny cautioned that her life would not be hers for a while but promised to deal with the situation as quickly as possible.

He wants to rescue Lucky. Felecia and Luke are on the hunt to find Lucky. Luke doesn't want Laura to know until he is sure their son is alive. Luke says, "It never made sense that Cowboy died in the harbor."

A guard made rounds after Helena left. Luke noticed movement by the window. The curtains parted, and "Lucky," Luke breathed. Luke was breathless from his momentary glimpse of his son and ready to storm the place. They were about to put their plan into action when Stefan and his hired help stormed the place and brought Lucky out under armed guard, pushed him into a Bronco, and took off,

Roy confesses to Bobbie that Hannah is his daughter.

Chloe Morgan is hit by a car and needs help during her recovery. Elizabeth pitches in, and Chloe offers her a part-time administrative job. Elizabeth doesn't want to leave Bobbie short-staffed at Kelly's and works both jobs. She continues her courses at PCU but is glad for the additional distraction. She helps an injured Chloe by sketching a design she described. Chloe provides something close to Elizabeth's passion for art.

Bobbie discovers Carly is pregnant.

2/1-13/2000

Bobbie was shocked when Carly confessed that the baby was Sonny's. Carly whined that it was all Sonny's fault; he hates her and knew sleeping with her would ruin her relationship with Jason. Carly tells her mother the story of how her tryst with Sonny happened. Bobbie asked if this was why Jason had left town, and Carly said she thought it was and that he hadn't even said goodbye. Bobbie said that Sonny needed to be involved in making these decisions. Carly says, "Absolutely not." Carly insisted that if Bobbie told Sonny about the baby, it would ruin her life.

Bobbie says, "If you don't tell Sonny the baby is his, I will. Carly, what you are doing to this child is what you tried to do with Michael. Will you try to pass it off as Jason's again? Everyone will know it's not AJ's, and soon you will be showing. Sonny will be suspicious."

Sonny later overhears Carly and Bobbie arguing about prenatal vitamins. He deduces that Carly is pregnant and he is the father. He goes to Bobbie, and she confirms it.

Elizabeth is catching up on schoolwork when Nikolas enters Kelly's. He's concerned about a guy sitting outside. She explains Francis is there on Sonny's orders. She tells Nikolas she is being cautious, and he reads her the riot act. He says this all started with Jason. Doesn't she think about her family?

Elizabeth says, "Nikolas, back off, or I will regret confiding in you and will never do it again." Nikolas stands to leave and says he will see her soon. "Is that a threat?"

"It's whatever you want it to be."

Bobbie asks what that was all about, and Elizabeth says she wishes friendship had come with a manual. Laura sits with her, and they talk about how people act when they have lost someone and how it changes them. "Laura, I only want Nikolas to love me as a friend and nothing else. I can't get him to understand I still love Lucky."

Nikolas went to Mac about the problems Elizabeth was having with Sorel. Mac said he couldn't do anything legally unless Elizabeth filed a complaint herself. Nikolas said she wouldn't do that, and Mac suggested he try coaxing her into it. Mac entered the diner and questioned Elizabeth about her run-in with Sorel. He said Nikolas was concerned for her safety. Elizabeth was pissed. She tells Mac that Nikolas wasn't there and doesn't know what happened. He tells her to call if she changes her mind.

Nikolas enters Kelly's, "Nikolas, you had no right to go Mac and do precisely what I told you not to do." Nikolas stammers about doing it for her protection. "In the past two months, you've criticized everything I've done, embarrassed me publicly, and reported my activities to the PCPD. Friends like that I don't need! I'm safer with Francis than you are with your grandmother!"

Emily received a postcard from Jason, who is apparently in Minnesota. She shares it with Sonny and Elizabeth. Sonny checks on Elizabeth. She assures him that she hasn't seen Sorel and that Francis is okay.

2/14-28/2000

Elizabeth volunteers at the rape crisis center again.

Carly says she hasn't forgiven her mother, but her whole world is falling apart, and she needs Bobbie's help. Carly tells Bobbie that Sonny wants a paternity test and to discuss custody. She has to figure out a way out of this situation.

At GH, Sonny surprised Carly by being sympathetic to her condition and well-being. He had his DNA test performed, and later, when he arrived at the penthouse, Carly was there waiting for him. He ushered her inside. He said she looked terrible and asked if she'd eaten or slept. She admitted she hadn't been taking care of herself and that the stress of everything was making her crazy. He told her he was going to cook her something to eat.

2/28/2000

Laura and Elizabeth discussed how much they missed Lucky. Helena walked by to say hello. Laura warned her to stay away from Elizabeth and Nikolas. "Nikolas wants nothing to do with you." Laura stormed off. Helena smirks, "Nikolas will as soon as I produce his beloved brother!"

March 2000

Summary:

Helena stole Lucky back from Stefan. She takes Lucky on a field trip, leaving clues for his parents. Luke and Laura search for the son they thought was dead. Helena tricks Lucky with chess games, tells him stories favoring the Cassidines, and tells him the terrible things his parents have done. She said that once he knew the truth, he would never see his life the same way again. Luke tells Nikolas he saw his brother and he's alive. Nikolas tells Emily and Elizabeth. Elizabeth is conflicted. She had grieved Lucky for a year and couldn't let herself invest in the possibility that he could be alive, only to be disappointed again. Nikolas offered to find Helena and see what she knew. Elizabeth was sure Helena was responsible but knew Nikolas's grandmother would never admit it.

Sonny and Carly argue about living arrangements. They bicker about how much they hate each other, but Sonny wants Carly and his unborn child with him. Carly and Michael move into the PH. Leticia moved back to her old room when Jason was living there. Sonny told Carly he promised Jason he'd look out for her and her children. Carly assumed Jason would come home, but Sonny said he would not. Carly's fantasy of being a family with Jason is dismissed.

Sorel and his men kidnap Bobbie and hold her hostage to force Sonny to do his bidding. Sorel told Sonny that he would set Bobbie free if Sonny ran drugs for him. Sorel took Bobbie to trade for the suitcase. Sorel checked to see that the bag contained the product. Sorel had no intention of letting Bobbie go, and Sonny knew it. Sonny said it was a one-time deal; Sorel said it was a shame; since he had no further use for Bobbie, he would have to dispose of her. Roy takes control of the limo and drives away with Bobbie in the back seat.

Sonny told Sorel that his bargaining chip, Bobbie, was getting away. One of Sonny's guards pulled a gun on Sorel. Sorel told Sonny he had made a big mistake. Sonny said Sorel had no more lifelines.

Sonny says, "I do not transport drugs. Your entire product in the briefcase is powdered sugar. Pick up your case and turn around."

"Why? So you can shoot me in the back?"

"If I were to shoot you, I sure as hell wouldn't tell you. Stay away from Barbara Spencer and her daughter and family; if I hear you or your men approach Elizabeth Webber again, it will be your last breath."

Sorel walks away, and Sonny points an empty revolver at Sorel, and he hears the "click" of Sonny's gun. Sonny yells, "Boom!"

Sonny told Carly that Bobbie had been rescued and that her mother and Roy would be there soon. Bobbie and Roy entered as a thrilled Carly ran and hugged her mother. Sonny said that Sorel was neutralized "for now."

Edward stops by the PH to visit Michael. Johnny stops him at the door. Sonny tells Edward he is not welcome at the PH. According to the agreement, only Monica, Lila, or Emily is. AJ can see Michael during the scheduled time, but Edward's visits must be supervised.

Carly begs Sonny to change the agreement. She doesn't want Michael near the Quartermaines. Sonny reminds her that Jason wanted AJ to be involved in his son's life. "Carly, why do you think Jason left? It wasn't only because we screwed, but he also had enough of your using Michael to latch on to him. You fought me on shared custody but now want my help?"

"Sonny, if you don't get me full custody and get AJ out of my life, I'll make your life a living hell!"

"I'm already in hell. You are carrying a kid neither of us planned, but I will not abandon my child like Mike did to me. We must find a way to get along; you are in this PH because I want my kid. AJ wants his kid, too. Unless he screws up, I'm not interfering."

Carly vows to make Sonny change his mind, and if she can mess with Sonny enough, she might walk away with both her kids, and Jason will forgive her and be a father to them.

Back in the Brownstone, Bobbie told Roy she was only safe, not sound. They kissed, and Bobbie told Roy that she had always loved him and always would. He told Bobbie that he had been lying and didn't work for Sonny but was a snitch for the FBI. He explains it started with Frank Smith, and when they found out about Hannah, they offered him the chance to have a relationship with her, at least part-time. He'd infiltrate an organization, Hannah had a nanny, and for months at a time, would have a regular life; then the FBI would wrap the case, and he'd be sent back to prison until the next time. Hannah thought her father was an agent and wanted to be like him. Roy's ready to quit taking orders from the FBI. Bobbie listened but was upset that he'd been free on and off in the last twenty years and hadn't tried to contact her. She asked why he'd come back now. He admitted that initially, he was on the trail of a money launderer but hadn't known it was Jerry until the moment of the bust since he'd first been after Marino. He would have protected Jerry since he knew Bobbie loved him. Bobbie didn't believe him. She guessed his new target was to take down Sonny. He admitted that was right, although he said her kidnapping by Sorel was a wake-up call since he'd realized the lies had to stop, even though he understood that when she heard the truth, she might not be able to forgive him.

After a moment, Bobbie asked Roy to leave. She watched him go with tears in her eyes.

3/30/2000

At Kelly's, Tammy and Elizabeth discussed Sorel. Elizabeth thinks she no longer needs Francis to be her bodyguard. She heads to the PH to discuss the situation with Sonny.

Mike brought Carly a rocking chair with a giant bow. Mike worried Carly wouldn't like it, but Sonny assured him she would love it. He left for an errand. Meanwhile, Elizabeth arrived at the PH. Johnny told her Sonny would be out for a bit but invited her to wait inside, and she agreed. Upon seeing the rocker, Elizabeth remarked it was "so not Sonny."

Carly returned to the PH and saw Elizabeth sitting in the rocking chair. Carly ordered her to leave, but she refused, and they argued about Carly using the baby to get to Sonny and about Jason's departure. Carly accused Elizabeth of wanting Sonny for herself, and when she countered that Carly could at least have waited for Jason to leave before sleeping with his best friend, Carly slapped her. Sonny walked in the door just before seeing the slap and apologized to Elizabeth. He told Carly she was not to raise her voice to Elizabeth and to treat her with respect; when Carly asked when the mother of his child would be treated with respect, he replied that she would get it when she earned it. Sonny escorted Elizabeth to the elevator, and they agreed that Francis' services were no longer needed. When he returned, Carly was sitting in the chair. She told him how much she liked and appreciated it, thinking it was from him. Sonny told her to send Mike a thank-you note.

"It's not from you?"

"What the fuck would I buy you anything."

3/31/2000

Helena told Lucky that their next stop would be their last and that he was on his own after that.

April-
