"Chapter 1: Welcome to Trion University!
Drift:
"Okay class, who can tell me the name of the vessel that carried the first hundred sparks to colonize Planet Gaia?" asked our instructor. "The Axalon!" another student answered. "Yet another semester of meaningless education." I thought to myself. Our classroom housed a total of 320 students. Most of us are looking down at our Holopads and downloading information, and some of us are dozing off. I looked over towards the far end of the classroom. I saw my classmate Sideburn laying his cranium on his desk while his optics were closed. I was getting ready to take a stasis nap myself until I noticed the entire class suddenly shifting their attention to my direction. "Drift, could you please tell me who was the Predacon Supreme before Magmatron?" asked the teacher but was too wrapped up in my inner thoughts to respond.
"Drift!" yelled the instructor. The class began to giggle at me. "Oh! Forgive me madam! The Predacon Supreme before Magmatron was Galvatron, and before Galvatron was the Razorclaw." I answered. "Very good! Now tell me the roles of the Maximal and Predacon Supreme, and their relation to their respective councils." demanded the instructor. "The Predacon Supreme works directly under the Predacon Council. Similar to the Maximal Supreme, they directly deal with civil, domestic, foreign, militaristic, scientific, ecological, and cosmic affairs. They then address these issues to the respective High Councils and come up with legislation or solutions to address these issues. The council will then decide whether to pass or deny the Supreme's proposal. You could say the Supreme's themselves are unnecessary as long as the council exists." I said.
"That's enough Drift. All members within Cybertron's Government play a crucial role in the governing of their respective citizens." said the instructor. "As expected, our instructors are just as ignorant as all the others at this institute. The Predacon and Maximal Council, they pretty much run Cybertron. The Supreme's are nothing but their lackey's, but that will soon change. When I'm Supreme, I'll get rid of all the High Council Members and pass my own legislation!" I thought to myself. "Okay class, we are dismissing now. Please travel straight to your next sessions in a safe manner." ordered our instructor. I could sense Sideburn staring right at me from the back of the classroom. I turned my head to find him smiling at me with the biggest grin on his face. "So, he's awakened and chosen violence." I thought to myself.
Sideburn:
"What a lovely day to race on the high speedways of Neo Iacon. Today is the start of Planet Gaia's Summer Solstice. Drift and I enjoy racing on the high speedways of Neo Iacon City. The blue sky and the air blowing against our chassis, "Cybertron couldn't beat this on its best day!" I thought to myself. There was a turnpike coming up that we were well familiar with. I slowed down just enough so I could still keep ahead of Drift while turning. However, the mad bot increased his speed. "Slowdown Drift!" I shouted. "Don't underestimate me Sideburn!" Drift replied. Drift turned his front wheels and performed an extremely tight drift around the turnpike. Once he exited, he realigned his wheels and turned on the turbo. "Woah! I like to see that you're living up to your name, but you're not beating me!" I shouted. After all, I knew there was a reputation I had to uphold, and a certain someone I wanted to impress.
Strongarm:
"Geez! Where are those two?!" I asked while standing in front of Trion Institute. "Probably racing again. You know how boys are Strongarm." replied Windblade. "I think I see them now." replied Rattletrap. Rattletrap was a Maximal fembot about half my height. She had a techno organic body with a mix of green and brown fur, yellow optics, and whiskers from her beast mode on her face. Windblade on the other hand, had a normal metallic robot body like mine.
"However, her body was far more compact and curved inwards than my mine. She had a dark red paint job for her torso, a shiny black paint job for her limbs, a pearly white face plant, azure, blue eyes, and a golden crown looking thing on her head.
"Eventually, I too was able to spot both Drift and Sideburn as they raced through the security gate scanning their Maximal Insignia's. "Hey!" yelled one of the security guards. They were headed towards us with no sign of slowing down. "'Squeak'! They're going to hit us!" squeaked Rattletrap as she ran to hug Windblade. I leaped forward to intercept the two and I landed down on both their front ends of their car forms and sent the catapulting into the air. "Maximize!" They both yelled. "Sideburn landed on his feet while Drift stumbled and rolled on the ground. "Wow Strongarm! That was incredible!" complemented Windblade. "Damn! Almost had it!" said Drift. Like Windblade, Drift had a sleeker and more compacted figure. He has a shiny white paint job, a sharp jawline, skinny and black painted arms and legs, and tiny feet. "Sorry Drift! Word of advice, try not using your boost so prematurely next time. Okay, buddy." teased Sideburn.
"Out of anyone I've seen at this academy, Sideburn has the most unique design of all. His torso area has a cheap light blue paint job that constantly wears off from time to time, a dark blue panel over his left hand, a light red panel his right arm, gray panels shielding his legs, and a pair of optics that are both red but aren't the same size, and he periodically hunches over from time to time. "Well done you two! You've committed at least three violations in one morning!" I said. "Oh, I'm sorry officer. Please don't send me to the brig. I'm so young! 'Haha!'" Sideburn joked.
"Before I could respond a group of fembots students ran up to Drift. "Oh my, Drift! Your lavish paint job has been chipped. Here, let me buff you reel fast!" said one of the fembots. "No, let me buff him!" replied another one. "I offered to buff him first!" said the fembot as they started arguing with one another. "It's alright ladies, you can take turns buffing me if you want." said Drift. I started to shake with rage, and a little jealousy. "Hey, can you girls please control yourselves!" I pleaded. "Hey ladies, what about me? The fastest bot in school!" Sideburn boasted. "There aren't any scratches on you, lunkhead! Besides, my boyfriend's totally faster than y-! Hey where did Drift go?!" said a fembot. "What?! He's gone?!" I asked.
"Not that I cared or anything, I just wanted to make sure he wasn't injured." I thought to myself. The other fembots dashed into the building to look for Drift, leaving Rattletrap, Windblade, Sideburn, and I outside in front of the entrance standing in total silence. Unfortunately, the silence didn't last very long as Sideburn leaned over to Windblade and asked, "So, Windblade! Do you wanna buff the fastest bot in Neo Iacon?". "Hmm, you don't look like you need buffing. Maybe after the security guard gets hands on you." said Windblade.
We all turned in the direction of the security gate as we saw the security guard charge towards Sideburn. "Sideburn! I know I didn't send you here to be a drag racer!" yelled the security guard. "S-Sorry X-Brawn! Gotta a student council meeting to attend! Catchya' afterwards!" said Sideburn as he scurried off inside. "Hey, don't you run from me boy!" said the security guard. Windblade giggled while Rattletrap stood there with a straight face and whispered, "Typical.". "Serves that idiot!" I said. A little while later, Windblade, Rattletrap, and I reached the meeting room. When we walked in we found Drift staring and typing at his monitor with his typical static look. "Wow, already at work before your boss arrives?! Keep that up and you'll receive a positive recommendation from your's truly." said Windblade. "Positive recommendation?! He almost ran you over today?!" I asked. "But you did such a wonderful job stopping that from happening. You'll definitely be getting a positive recommendation from me in the future as well, Strongarm." said Windblade.
"Heelloo." greeted Sideburn as he walked up from behind us. "You're late Sideburn!" said Windblade. "Now way! I walked in the moment after the three of you walked in!" said Sideburn.
"If you walk in this office after me, you're late!" said Windblade. "When was that a rule?!" asked Sideburn. "Since now, because I'm Student Supreme." said Windblade. "You know for the self-acclaimed fastest bot in the school your always late to these Student Body meetings.'' I said. "I have a lot going on outside of academy stuff!" Sideburn claimed. "Oh really?! Like what?!" I asked. "Super cool stuff your tiny processor can't comprehend!" he replied while pointing at me. I quickly grabbed his arms and twisted it down. "'Akk!'" he cried as he fell to his knees. "Violating another's personal space without permission is a violation against Article 2, Section 2!" I explained. "Drift! Help me!" pleaded Sideburn.
Drift shrugged his shoulders and continued typing. "Come on Drift! Us boy bots gotta have each other's backs! Ouchy!" said Sideburn. "Drift shouldn't drag himself down to accommodate you, Sideburn!" I said. "You're late as well, Strongarm." said Windblabe. Immediately released Sideburn arm upon hearing such unfortunate news."Wait, what?! Why, ma'am?!" I said. "I'm in the office, your left foot is still outside the room." she said. I looked at Rattletrap as she was in her usual spot typing at her computer. "Well Strongarm, guess we're in the same stasis pod as one another this time." said Sideburn. "I'm not in the same, anything, as you, punk!" I said. "Fine by me." replied Sideburn.
Sideburn:
We all sat down in our usual spots and got to work. I began working on planning the One Hundreds Festival we host at the academy every Summer Solstice. "Sideburn, I want that draft of the One Hundreds Festival by E.O.D." ordered Windblade. "You got it Supreme!" I replied. "Man, Windblade is the best fembot ever. She's kind, stern, slim, and most importantly, she's red! I hope she'll be impressed by my idea for the festival!" I thought to myself.
"Okay, let's see. The Axalon carried one million protoforms to the Planet Gaia to start a new civilian, right?" asked Sideburn. "One hundred." answered Drift. "Yeah, sure. What if we construct an exact replica of the Axalon for the festival?" I asked. "Hm, I'll see if we have the budget for that." replied Windblade. "I don't think we will. The board is already inviting one of the last surviving Axalon crew members to speak at the event." said Strongarm. "Hopefully he cancels." whispered Rattletrap.
"Wait, I thought he was doing it pro bono!" I said. "It's quite a hall from Cybertron to Planet Gaia, and the Institute already agreed they would be covering his travel expenses." said Drift. "The board went right over our heads with that one. Sorry I didn't inform you sooner Sideburn." Windblade apologized. "Ah man! You were right about council members Drift." I said. "So, you were awake for that, huh?" Asked Drift. "Oh yeah. That was funny as scrap! You were all like, 'The Supreme's are useless!'." I mocked in a deeper voice. Drift looked at me with an irritated look on his face that I've never seen before. It was a scary look for him. "Sorry." I apologized.
"Don't get discouraged Sideburn. I have a plan to get the funds we need for anything you have planned for the festival, with a fundraiser!" shouted Windblade in excitement. "Ugggh!" I and the others groaned. "What's wrong everyone? We need the funds for the event, don't we?" asked Windblade. "But we just had a fundraiser! I still have sand in my gears from working last one!" said Strongarm.
"More importantly, your fundraisers are always the most difficult to plan for because they're always out of the blue." said Drift. "That's because I've been spoiled with such a great team!" complemented Windblade with a very forced grin on her face.
"Plus, the students at the academy have been asking for more school hosted events during the Summer Solstice. Which also means they are willing to fork over large amounts of credits." said Windblade with a devious grin on her face. "You're just like our caretaker." Drift replied. "Oh, let's do an expedition to Planet Gaia's Arctic Circle!" said Rattletrap. Windblade and I looked at each other and giggled.
"What is it?" asked a confused Rattletrap. "That's the most excited you've ever been about anything, and yet it's as cold and boring as you are, Rattletrap!" I replied. "Let's try to stick with the Summer Solstice theme. Okay, Rattletrap?" Windblade advised. "Man, it was great to have Windblade agree with me on something. It's like we were bonding." I thought to myself.
"What?! But it's a fascinating ecosystem! Gaia's native organic creatures in the region have certain features that-", Rattletrap's lesson was thankfully suddenly cut short by the academy's power suddenly cutting off. "Eek!" squeaked Rattletrap. In response, Strongarm stood up from her seat and pulled out her Holopad. "Remain calm everyone! In the event of a sudden power outage please follow the following pro-", thankfully the power suddenly came back on before Strongarm's could list the numerous procedures she learned in her police training courses.
"Oh, thank Primus! But what just happened?" I asked. Windblade turned on her Holopad to check for any news on the blackout. "Apparently, the magma plant that supplies Neo Iacon is being attacked by extremists!" Windblade answered. Windblade turned on a large monitor towards the front of the meeting room. There was a visual broadcasting showcasing live footage of a fire fight at the magma plant in Area 6. "It's Prima!" shouted Strongarm. Prima was the name of a terrorist group that showed up in Neo Iacon City right after Trion University was founded. "I guess they shut off the power from the plant to prevent any further damage," said Windblade as she crossed her hands over her chest.
Strongarm stood from her seat and clenched her fist with anger. "Those extremists! They've been attacking our city nonstop! They're going to keep getting more people scrapped!" said Strongarm. "Yeah," said a nervous Windblade. I could see Rattletrap from the corner of my left optics. Her body was shaking as she held her Holopad tightly on her chest. "Come on, say something!" I told myself, but I couldn't."That damn Prima! What are they even after anyway?!" asked Strongarm. "I'm not surprised you don't know. After all, the media has been very vague on who Prima. Some officials have speculated they're a group of lower class Predacons that want better living conditions." said Drift. We all looked back at Drift in surprise, except for Rattletrap who was still staring at the broadcast.
"But that doesn't make any sense! Why would they be attacking the magma plants then?! That makes living worse for everyone!" asked Strongarm. "You're absolutely right. It doesn't make sense. I suspect the media is hiding something." said Drift. "He's right! They're hiding the truth! It's the High Council's doing, and because of that bots like Rattletrap are scared and confused while innocent people are losing their lives!" I thought to myself. Suddenly, my spark began to pulse. I looked at my desk and noticed I was lightly burning it with my hands. I couldn't take it anymore. I had to get away. I had to do something. Anything. I stood from my chair and ran out of the council room as fast as I could. "Sideburn!" shouted Windblade. "Sideburn, where are you going?! It's not safe outside!" shouted Strongarm.
Rattletrap:
"Strongarm… she just ran after Sideburn!" I thought to myself. Drift stood and ran out after her. "W-Wait! Don't leave me here!" I shouted. "It's okay, Rattletrap! I won't leave you!" said Windblade as she rushed over and hugged me. "My, you're shivering Rattletrap." she said. I hugged her back with all I had. "Don't leave me here alone." I pleaded as I began to cry. "I won't. I'll stay right here with you." said Windblade. I had my optics closed, but I noticed that the monitor went silent. Windblade probably turned it off for me. This isn't the first time Windblade has done something like this for me. She is so nice to me. She reminds me of my female caretaker back on Cybertron. "I love you, Windblade." I thought to myself.
Drift:
I ran down the hallways of the academy to reach the elevator on the far end. "Gotta get to a tachyon transmitter!" I told myself. I pressed the button to summon the elevator, but I got nothing. "Damn! Seems the elevator is offline." I said to myself. I went down the emergency staircase to reach the exit out of the academy. When I exited the academy, there was a large crowd of Maximal students outside the academy entrance. "What's going on now?!" I asked out of pure irritation. They seemed to be shouting at someone, but I couldn't tell. "Hey, what's the big deal?!", "Come on!", "Let us go!" they yelled. I wiggled through the crowd to reach the front. When I managed to reach the front of the crowd, I was shocked to find a line of Vehicon troopers blocking the academy entrance.
The Vehicons had long cylinder-shaped limbs but a sleek and proportionate torso, dark blue paint jobs, were twice the size of your ordinary Maximal, had bright yellow visors for optics, squarish craniums, a communication antenna sticking out of their heads and were armed with blasters integrated into their right arms. "Vehicon troopers! What are they doing at the academy?!" I asked. "You tell me pal! Wait?! It's Drift!" shouted one of the students. "Drift!", "Drift is here!", "It's the student council!", "We're saved!", said individuals from the crowd.
I slowly walked towards the wall of Vehicons. "Attention, Vehicon troopers! I am Drift! I am part of Trion University's Student Council and a protege to the illustrious Metalhawk! Why are you holding us captive at this institute while terrorists run rampant in our great city?!" I asked. "Yeah! You tell em' Drift!" shouted a student in the crowd. "Drift! Drift! Drift!" chanted all the students but the Vehicon troopers stood silently while they all stared down at me. "Stupid, mindless drones! That idiot Metalhawk! These drones were produced by his company! They should be bowing at my feet! Now I look like an idiot in front of the entire student body!" I thought to myself. "You're quite brave kiddo, but these Vehicons only answer to me!" said a feminine voice behind the Vehicons. The Vehicons in front of me moved aside to make way for a female Maximal. She stood right in front of me, staring me down at eye level. "I'm Officer Blackarachnia, and you must be Drift!" she said. "Guess the crowd gave my name away." I bragged. "They seem to have a high level of respect and faith in you. Those are great attributes of a leader," said Blackaracnhia.
"Then you're well aware of my importance as well, and these sets of Vehicon drones are programmed to follow your every command, correct? If you could command them to move aside and allow my classmates and I to go home and contact our respective families that would be well appreciated." I demanded."Unfortunately, I won't allow any of you to leave this institute until the situation at the magma plant has been diffused. We've already contacted all of your caretakers. Please, if you are a leader in the optics these students then get them to return to the school for shelter in a calm and orderly fashion." pleaded Black Arachnia.
"Suddenly, a large explosion went off further in the city. The crowd of students started to panic and scream. Blackarachnia moved her right arm and pressed a button on a communication device that was plugged into the side of her head. "Okay, roger that. Blackarachnia, out. Attention all academy students! The fighting has spread to Area 6! Everyone, please get back inside the school now!" ordered Blackarachnia. "She's right! Everyone, seek shelter in the academy!" I ordered. "Scrap! Guess I have no choice but play along until the situation dies down. Who would have guessed this academy my master sent me to would become my prison?!" I thought to myself.
