I don't own Disney's The Owl House. I do, however own the OC known as Danielle Hopkins. Hope you all enjoy my story on this lovely show.
Chapter Eight
Today was a quiet morning for a while before Danielle and Luz started going at it again. Something along the line of tweaking recipes had gotten them fighting again. Sighing, Eda scrounged around and found some cards before magicking the girls in the living room. Huffing, the girls turned away from each other.
"Alright you two, enough," said Eda, placing the cards down between herself and Owlbert. "I got a game to show you."
"Really?" said Luz, intrigued.
"What kind?" asked Danielle, before staring at the cards.
"Watch closely, you two. Hexes Hold'em is the most tricky game on the Boiling Isles," said Eda, showing the cards to the girls. "Any proper witch knows how to play."
"Oh boy, cards!" said Luz, looking at the cards. "The paper rectangles that old people think are fun!"
"I've never been much for card games," said Danielle, looking at the cards. "I've only ever played solitaire, gin rummy and uno."
"Then I'm going to trounce you in this game," said Luz, pointing at Danielle.
"Keep telling yourself that," said Danielle, before hearing Eda groan. "Sorry Eda."
"Now when it looks like the deck is stacked against you, that's when you break out the wildcard," said Eda, taking out a specific card and winning the game. "Woo, I win! In your adorable owl face. Ah, I love the feeling of victory; it feels... fluffy?"
"Uh, Eda?" said Luz, pointing at feathers sprouting on Eda's body. "It's happening again!"
"What's happening again?" asked Eda, seeing the girls cling to each other.
"Beastie is trying to get out again," replied Danielle, looking at Eda.
Running on up upstairs to her room, Eda scrambles to find an elixir. Danielle, Luz and King search as well looking for any elixir that was around. Opening a chest, Eda finds out that she is all out of elixirs.
"Oh, boy," said Eda, grabbing an empty potion bottle. "This is terrible. I'm out of elixir."
"Uh, last time this happened, you turned into this thing," said Luz, holding up her cell phone and showing a picture of the Owl Beast.
"We definitely got great shots of it," said Danielle, holding her cell phone up as well.
"I'd say," said Eda, looking at her picture. "I know I should be repulsed, but that look is fierce."
"Eda!" said Luz, not wanting to go through that again.
"You're right, you're right," said Eda, looking at Luz. "We need to head to the market."
"Market!" said Luz, standing up.
"You know, I could learn how to make elixirs," said Danielle, looking at Eda. "Most of it is plant based from what I read from books. It would save you the hassle of always having to buy it."
"Ah yeah, the plant glyph has been very helpful in that regard," said Eda, standing up. "But you don't know what the plants look like yet so this time its market."
"Okay, I have no problem with that," said Danielle, walking towards the bedroom doors.
"I'm stealing everything that's not nailed down!" said King, following after the girls.
"Not as long as I'm around," said Danielle, looking at King.
"Before we go, would anyone like to play one more hand of Hexes Hold'em?" asked Eda, patting her pockets. "Hey, where are my cards?"
"Take these and fly ahead," said Luz, handing the card deck to Owlbert, Danielle stifling a giggle. "She'll have to follow us."
"Owlbert, you sore loser," said Eda, chasing after Owlbert. "Gimme back my cards!"
"Nice," said Danielle, giggling as her and Luz follow suit.
Seeing that she wasn't gonna get her cards back anytime soon, Eda relented. Heading towards the market, Eda and King head to the apothecary shop known as Mr. Elixir. The girls sit on a nearby bench and watching people go about their day.
"Hey, open up, Morton!" said Eda, banging on the metal grate.
"Uh, ju-just a minute!" said Morton, grumbling to himself.
"Is there anything better than people watching in the Demon Realm?" asked Luz, seeing people go about their day.
"Plenty," replied Danielle, stretching.
"Don't you know how to have fun?" asked Luz, staring at Danielle.
"Yes," replied Danielle, dangling her arms over the back of the bench.
"Ugh, stop fighting," said King, looking at the girls. "That's almost every day you two go at each other."
"She starts it," said the girls, pointing at the other. "No, I don't."
"Nyeh," said King, slumping on the bench.
"Whoa, that is one ominous parade," said Luz, seeing a demon bound to a cart.
"Poor thing," said Danielle, seeing the demon get shocked.
"That's no parade. Those are demon hunters," said Eda, before banging on the metal grate again after a bit. "Dangerous nomads who capture and sell the most powerful beasts. Which I'm about to become if you don't open up, Morton!"
"Then they'll have to tussle with us to get to you," said Danielle, before Eda ruffled her hair.
"Sorry, Eda!" said Morton, lifting the metal grate. "I was up all night poison tasting and for some reason, I don't feel great."
"I'm all outta my juice, pal," said Eda, holding up an empty elixir bottle.
"Oh, gee," said Morton, grabbing the empty elixir bottle. "Lemme see what I can do."
"Willow and Gus!" said Luz, noticing the two and running over. "Heya, friends! Wait, what's wrong? Who hurt my babies?"
"Them," replied Willow, pointing towards Boscha and her entourage. "Amity's having a moonlight conjuring and invited everyone but me."
"And she keeps posting about it on her Penstagram account," said Gus, holding up his scroll.
""It's conjuring night! No dorks allowed"? What a jerk!" said Luz, scowling before looking at Willow. "What's a moonlight conjuring?"
""You spend the night at someone's house, telling stories, playing games..." said Willow, then holding up an opened book. "Then you bring something to life with moon magic!"
"So, a magical sleepover," said Danielle, looking at the book.
"Gus and I have never been to one," said Willow, pointing at the picture in the book. "You need at least three people and…"
"Sorry you couldn't get an invite to the conjuring, Willow," said Boscha, laughing before looking at Amity. "Only real witches allowed."
"Leave her alone," said Amity, looking away before walking away. "It's not her fault she was born without talent."
"Whoa," said Luz, slapping a vine away. "Don't waste your time getting thorny over them. 'Cause we're gonna have our own moonlight conjuring."
"What?" said Danielle, looking at Luz.
"Are you serious? This was on my bucket list," said Gus, taking out a list of his. "After owning a real human bucket!"
"That's a really weird thing to want, but I appreciate your enthusiasm," said Luz, about to walk away. "I'll go tell Eda."
"You mean ask her," said Danielle, walking alongside Luz. "That is her house after all. Just be glad that she doesn't ask for rent from us."
"Ugh," said Luz, before approaching Eda. "Eda, Gus and Willow and Danielle and I are gonna do a moonlight conjuring and stick it to Amity. So can we…"
"Not tonight, I'm going out," replied Eda, holding her hand up before walking away. "I need you to watch the house, I have many precious objects in there."
"Like me!" said King, only to be grabbed by the scruff by Eda. "Whoa!"
"You're coming with me," said Eda, staring at King. "I need an extra pair of eyes looking out for pickpockets, and an extra pair of hands in case I want to pickpocket."
"Then, maybe they can come to the house and…" said Luz, trying to convince Eda.
"Luz," said Danielle, staring at Luz.
"No! Besides, conjurings are dumb; sitting in a circle holding hands," said Eda, before walking away. "Pft. It's like magic for babies."
"But…" said Luz, staring as Eda walked away.
"Respect her decision right here," said Danielle, as Willow and Gus ran over.
"Luz!" said Willow, looking at Luz. "What did Eda say?"
"So... guys..." said Luz, nervous.
"Oh, look!" said Gus, pointing up towards the moon. "The moon is rising into place. And the celestial powers only align once a year."
"Oh, I can't believe I finally have enough friends for a moonlight conjuring!" said Willow, excited. "Thank you, Luz! Did Eda say it was okay?"
"Uhm... yes. She said yes. We can do it at the Owl House," replied Luz, nervously laughing. "As long as we don't make a mess or touch anything and never bring up that we did it!"
"Luz! She did…" said Danielle, only for Luz to cover her mouth. "Mmm!"
"Yes!" said Gus, excited.
"Oh, you're the best!" said Willow, excited before singing alongside Gus. "We're gonna do a conjuring! We're gonna do a conjuring! Conjuring! Conjuring!"
"Luz, what did you just do?" asked Danielle, staring at Luz. "Eda said no. What do you think is going to happen the moment Willow and Gus arrive and Eda says no to them?"
"I'll… I'll figure out," replied Luz, before walking away. "Geesh."
Night time has finally fallen. While Eda was preparing to leave, Danielle had put together a little snack. Grabbing one of the books that she brought from home, Danielle pulls a blanket around her before plopping down on the couch. Luz is calm as Eda gets ready to leave. Unknowingly, Willow and Gus were hiding in the bushes outside the Owl House.
"Danielle, you're in charge while I'm out," said Eda, putting on a cloak. "Make sure Hooty doesn't get into any trouble."
"What? Danielle's in charge!" said Luz, standing up. "Why?"
"Funny enough, she's the more mature of the two of you," said Eda, looking at the girls.
"Dully noted," said Danielle, still reading her book.
"I can be mature," said Luz, looking at Eda.
"Hoot hoot!" said Hooty, opening the door. "I don't need a babysitter. I'm a big boy house!"
"I can even watch Hooty. I can proof it," said Luz, looking at Eda. "Just leave me in charge."
"Maybe another time," said Eda, looking at Luz. "You're acting suspicious. You're doing that thing where you hide in your hoodie."
"Meow I'm not. Uh..." said Luz, earning a giggle from Danielle before pulling her hood down. "Oh, where's King?"
"He's right here," replied Eda, opening her cloak revealing King in a baby carrier. "His little body just conks out when he's weightless. Look at this."
"Aaw, he's adorable," said Danielle, petting King's cheek, slightly singing afterwards. "Brilla brilla una Stellina."
"Aww, he's so dangly," said Luz, playing with King's feet.
"Anyway, really going now. And Danielle... Luz…" said Eda, staring at the girls. "If you mess up the house, I will never trust you again. No pressure! Byeeeeee!"
"Uuh… there is so pressure," said Danielle, seeing Eda leave. "Alright, voices in head. Where are they?"
"… …"
"Hello?" said Danielle, waiting for a response.
"The number you dialed is no longer in service. Have a nice day."
"Looks like they don't want to give me a straight answer," said Danielle, hearing the voices laugh before looking at the bushes. "They're in the bushes, aren't they?"
"Dangit! Way too perceptive."
"Ay. Should I really be doing this? No, no, Willow is counting on you," said Luz, talking to herself. "Okay, she's gone."
"Release!" said Willow, leaves exploding off the bushes. "I'm a sneaky sneakster!"
"I've got leaves in my pants..." said Gus, before whispering. "And I like it."
"Luz, have you forgotten Eda left me in charge?" asked Danielle, as Luz gestured Willow and Gus inside. "Luz."
"Company! Hooray! Finally someone to listen to my stories! Okay, one time, a sparrow flew into my mouth, and then I…" said Hooty, as Daniell walks past him. "Hey…"
"Whoa, no! Outside," said Danielle, shooing the sparrow out. "You actually ate one?"
"Yup," replied Hooty, as Danielle plucked the feathers hanging out of his mouth.
"Luz is going to be the harder of the two," said Danielle, closing the door. "Huh…"
"Tonight he shall be risen!" said Gus, excited.
"What I miss?" asked Danielle, as everyone was setting things up.
"Just go with it," replied Luz, pulling Danielle towards the circle.
"Go with what?" asked Danielle, confused.
"According to the conjuring books I've read, we say the incantation and make a connection with the doll," said Willow, before holding hands with Danielle, Luz and Gus.
"Connection?" said Danielle, a little scared.
"Figurine," said Gus, correcting Willow.
"Aah! No, not this again!"
"What?" said Danielle, hearing a certain voice.
Moonlight, we call, we sing.
Moonlight, take this chance.
Moonlight, come tie the string.
Moonlight, start the dance!
"I am so lost," thought Danielle, as Willow and Gus chanted.
"Moonlight tie... string... and I don't know the words!" said Luz, trying to say the incantation.
The moon continues rising. Hooty looks up at it. The moon stops moving, and a burst of blue light comes out of it. A similar burst of blue light bursts out from between Willow, Danielle, Luz, and Gus, spreading around the living room and extinguishing the candles. They all open one eye and look at the action figure. The entire house rumbles. Hooty blinks, his eyes turning the same blue color before making ghostly noises. Birds fly away from the house while cawing. The foundation cracks as the Owl House rises. The teens scream as they lose their balance. The Owl House stops rising, now standing on giant bird legs.
"Guys?" said Luz, as a book hits her head. "Did the entire house just hiccup?"
"Little buff guy, what did you do?" asked Gus, grabbing the toy.
"Luuuuz!" said Danielle, glaring at Luz.
"Alright, I get it," said Luz, looking away.
"No, I think… I think we might've animated the house by accident!" said Willow, looking around.
"The house?" said Luz, surprised.
"Luz Noceda!" said Danielle, angrily walking towards Luz.
"I can fix this," said Luz, before opening the front door and almost falling off.
"Luz!" said Danielle, grabbing and pulling Luz back.
"Hooty? Hooty!" said Luz, as the front door is shut. "Hooty, you have to stop!"
"By the power of moonlight, I have risen" said Hooty, in a trance. "Hoot hoot."
"You are not a magical girl," said Danielle, looking at Hooty.
"He's in some kind of trance!" said Gus, looking at Hooty before losing his balance.
"Gus!" shouted all three girls, grabbing hold of Gus's hands.
"Our magic must've spread through the house instead of the doll!" said Willow, thinking about what happened.
"Figurine!" said Gus, correcting Willow.
"Hooty, stop!" shouted Luz, only to feel the house stop moving.
"How'd we do that?" asked Gus, seeing the house stopped.
"I think I get it," replied Danielle, looking at their joined hands. "Hooty wasn't listening before because we weren't holding hands but now that we are he's listening. Control the animated object by joined hands but lose control by not joining hands."
"Wow," said Willow, looking at Danielle. "You got that really quickly. You're quite studious."
"Yeah, I tend to be," said Danielle, rubbing the back of her neck. "I tend to get A's and B's in school. I only ever got a C once but that spelling test was really hard, no one passed."
"I know what spelling test you're talking about," said Luz, looking at Danielle. "Only one student passed that test and because of it, everyone's grades were kept cause of it."
"Yeah," said Danielle, nervously looking away. "I-I wonder who?"
"If I ever find them…" said Luz, a little miffed.
"Back to the task at hand," said Danielle, getting Luz's attention.
"Oh right," said Luz, looking at their situation.
"Okay, what do we do now?" asked Gus, looking at Danielle and Luz.
"On the one hand, we should probably stay put," said Luz, looking at Gus.
"Back to the property is what we should do," said Danielle, looking at everyone.
"On the other hand, we've got a giant walking house and should totally take it on a joyride!" said Gus, a little excited.
"Okay, okay, but we gotta be back before the moon sets or Eda will kill me," said Luz, after looking at the rising moon.
"You mean kill me," said Danielle, grabbing hold of Luz's shirt collar and glaring at Luz. "Have you forgotten…"
"Whoa! Let's just…" said Willow, separating the two. "That's better."
"Hmmph," said the girls, backs turned to each other.
"Hey, is that..." said Willow, recognizing Boscha nearby.
"It's Boscha," said Gus, recognizing the girl as well. "That girl who made fun of us."
"She noticed us," said Willow, seeing Boscha look their way. "What do we do?"
"Hmmm… I don't know," replied Danielle, looking at Willow and Gus. "I'm not that much… Luz, what are you thinking?"
"Hmm," said Luz, before whispering to Gus, only for him to grin and conjure an illusionary megaphone. "Hey. H-Hey you. You should, uh, stop being so mean to people. You're kind of a jerk."
"Really think that's going to work," said Danielle, looking at Luz.
"But don't you see? I am no mere house," said Luz, as she roars, scaring Boscha as the house rose up from hiding.
"Ugh," said Danielle, facepalming.
"I've never pranked anyone before," said Gus, excited. "And now I have a taste for it."
"We should follow her to Amity's house to show off our conjuring," said Willow, looking at Luz. "That will show her who's got no talent."
"Actually, I'm starting to think we should head back," said Luz, after looking at the moon.
"Good idea for a change," said Danielle, about to head back inside. "We can also clean up whatever mess…"
"Are you saying I don't have good ideas?" asked Luz, glaring at Danielle.
"I'm not saying you don't have good ideas," said Danielle, turning around to face Luz. "I'm saying that most of your choices tend to go the chaotic route."
"Stop," said Gus, getting between the two.
"She started it," said Luz, pointing at Danielle.
"How many fingers are pointing back at you?" asked Danielle, looking at Luz.
"Huh?" said Luz, confused.
"Something I learned from Uncle Neil," said Danielle, pointing at Luz's hand. "You're pointing your one finger at me but how many are pointing back at you?"
"Why you…" said Luz, figuring out what Danielle meant.
"What was that?" asked Willow, feeling the ground move slightly and seeing a rope latched on the house.
"Is that a... giant crossbow?" asked Luz, pointing in a certain direction and spotting the weapon with the demon hunters from before.
"Actually, it's a ballista," said Danielle, staring in the direction. "An ancient missile weapon developed by…"
"Not the time," said Luz, looking at Danielle.
The leader of the group signals to shoot again. Another giant bolt with rope attached secures the house in place. Danielle glares at the leader as he jumps in front of them. Activating a plant glyph, Danielle sends the leader flying before the rest of his group jumps them and ties them up. Flinging them in the house, the leader has his group tie the Owl House to a cart before signaling his group to move.
"Dang it!" said Danielle, struggling in their binds. "If it was just one or two, I could probably handle them but not all of them."
"Hooty! Hooty!" said Luz, kicking the door. "You have to wake up!"
"If you want this to end as you say, three must hold hands," said Hooty, still in said trance. "It's the only way."
"¡Oye, no me hable así!" said Luz, kicking the door once more before looking at Willow. "Willow, will you help me out with Hooty?"
"I'm sorry, Luz," said Willow, looking away. "You shouldn't ask me to help with anything."
"Willow," said Luz, only to feel the house stop. "Did the house stop moving?"
"Uh, my insides didn't," said Gus, on the floor.
"You just had to take control, didn't ya," said Danielle, glaring at Luz. "Why couldn't you accept that Eda placed me in charge?"
"What?" said Willow and Gus, looking at Danielle than Luz. "Danielle's in charge?"
"I… uh… that is…" said Luz, not knowing what to say.
"Yes, Eda placed me in charge," said Danielle, looking at Willow and Gus. "And what else, Eda had said no to this conjuring."
"Wait…" said Willow, looking at Luz. "Eda said no… but you said…"
"I'm sorry!" said Luz, choked up and a little teary eyed. "I haven't really made friends with anyone since moving to Gravesfield nor had any sleepovers. I-I-I just thought if…"
"Luz, stop…" said Danielle, sighing sadly.
"¿Por qué?" said Luz, glaring at Danielle. "What would the Ice Queen of our school know anything. I bet you had tons of sleepovers."
"I haven't had sleepovers in years!" said Danielle, tears streaming down her eyes. "My grampa scared every friend I had away cause of their race. Ming and Ling were Chinese. Reggie and his dad are dark skinned. And Masha got that gap in her tooth cause Gramps struck her when he caught her playing with me. The only friends I got anymore are my family and my cat!"
"I didn't-didn't know," said Luz, staring at Danielle. "Your grampa actually did that?"
"Yes!" said Danielle, looking at Luz. "Ming and Ling were inseparable from me back when we were young then… then…"
"Okay, enough said," said Luz, looking at Danielle. "We'll talk later."
The front door squeaks open. The leader of the group laughs as he pushes them out the door and toward his colleagues. Danielle glares at the leader, wondering how to get out of this mess.
"Take the house and rip out the house demon," said the Leader, shutting the front door. "We can sell it to restaurants as exotic meat."
"Why you…" said Danielle, glaring at the leader.
"No! Hooty would taste terrible," said Luz, looking at the leader.
"Hey, I'm a refined taste," said Hooty, hearing Luz. "Hoot! Hoot!"
"More like acquired taste," said Danielle, in a low voice as Luz stifled a giggle.
"What do we do with the worms?" asked a Colleague, staring at his leader.
"Throw them over the cliff," replied the Leader, staring at his colleague.
"Wait, what?" said Danielle, before being pushed alongside Willow, Luz and Gus towards the cliff. "Nooo! Let us go!"
"All righty, kids," said the Colleague, staring at the bound teens. "Here's the end of your short little lives."
"Wait! Wait! Wait!" said Gus, turning around and facing the Colleague. "Is this really what you wanna be doing with your life? Tossing kids from cliffs?"
"Actually, yes. It's been my dream since I was a boy," replied the Colleague, only for them to stare at him for a long moment confused. "I was a strange child. Whee!"
"Oh my gosh," said Willow, as their binds got caught on a branch. "You have got a loud scream Danielle."
"You must have blasted the doctors and nurses ears off when you were born," said Luz, her ears still ringing some.
"Sorry," said Danielle, tears in the corners of her eyes. "Eda is going to have a field day with us if we don't die here."
"If we're not killed now, we will be when Eda finds out about the house," said Luz, staring up.
"Luz, Danielle, I'm so sorry. You wanted to turn back but I wanted to show off to Amity," said Willow, looking away. "The truth is she and I used to be friends."
"Whaaat?" said Luz, staring at Willow than Danielle, seeing like she was trying to catch her breath. "Danielle?"
"We played together as kids, but when she got her magical powers and I didn't, she stopped hanging out with me," said Willow, looking sad.
"Guys, is now the best time?" asked Gus, staring at the girls.
"I just wanted to prove to her that I was a powerful witch, too," said Willow, sighing.
"That's ridiculous. You helped bring a house to life. Amity doesn't know what she's talking about," said Luz, making Willow smile. "Next to Eda, you're the most powerful witch I know. No offense, Gus."
"No, not at all. I know what I'm about," said Gus, before the branch cracked more. "This tree can't hold us much longer."
"Okay, we got to think of something, quickly that is," said Luz, seeing Danielle trying to curl in on herself. "I think Danielle is having those chest pains that Eda mentioned."
"There. Now, if I could just reach that root," said Willow, getting her arm free and grabbing the root. "Gotcha!"
Utilizing her magic, Willow was able to get the root to sprout into a large enough vine with leaves. She moves one of the thorny vines to cut the rope and free them before attacking the demon hunters. As the battle between witches versus plants continued, Luz steadied Danielle straight to the house while Willow and Gus followed.
"I have a little idea," said Danielle, slumping to the floor.
"Danielle, you are in no condition," said Luz, holding Danielle's hands. "Let's just…"
"Send the fear of the Cucco in them," said Danielle, grabbing a ton of light glyphs.
"Ha!" said Luz, before grabbing a bunch of light glyphs as well.
"Cucco?" said Willow and Gus, looking at the girls, confused.
"Three… Two... One!" said the girls, activating the light glyphs which sent a ton of chicken-based creatures rampaging towards the demon hunters, clucking all the while.
"Is that a creature from your realm?" asked Willow, seeing the demon hunters screaming and running for their lives. "I don't think I…"
"Creature from a video game series," said Luz, only to see Danielle slump to the floor holding her chest. "Danielle!"
"Here," said Gus, trying to push the couch.
"Right," said Luz, picking Danielle up with Willow's help. "Now to hold hands."
"Sounds like…" said Danielle, cringing in pain. "It's our victory."
"Oh, no," said Luz, seeing the moon descend more. "I don't mean to step on this victory but we gotta get home before Eda does."
"I think the pain made Danielle pass out," said Gus, seeing Danielle passed out.
"Okay, playtime is over," said Luz, linking hands with everyone. "Hooty, let's go home."
"I am home," said Hooty, making more ghostly noises.
"… …" said Luz, trying to think. "Oh, the property!"
As Hooty heads back to the property, he manages to crush a certain stand as he ventures through the Night Market. Finally, back at the property, Hooty nestles the Owl House back into place. Though the inside was a mess during the whole escapade.
"What a night," said Luz, playing with Danielle's hair. "I should have listened."
"I'm sorry Luz," said Willow, looking at Luz. "This wouldn't have happened if I didn't ask."
"No Willow," said Luz, standing up. "It's not. I should have told you guys from the beginning. I just…"
"We still would have been your friends," said Willow, grabbing Luz's hands. "We'll figure it out the next time."
"Yeah," said Luz, before looking at Hooty. "Sorry about all that, Hooty."
"It's okay. I'm just glad I was included," said Hooty, before the door was slammed shut by Eda and King.
"Oh, boy," said Luz, seeing Eda mad.
"You are so busted," said Eda, walking towards Luz.
"Oh, man," said Luz, closing her eyes.
"You held a moonlight conjuring," said Eda, still walking forward.
"I did," said Luz, afraid to open her eyes.
"And you animated my house," said Eda, right in front of Luz. "My house!"
"Yes," said Luz, waiting for the inevitable.
"No. Don't punish Luz or Danielle," said Willow, stepping in front of Luz. "We're the ones who pushed her to do the conjuring."
"If you're gonna eat me, just do it now," said Gus, stepping in front of Willow. "Do it now!"
"Hey, you didn't have to do that," said Luz, looking at Willow.
"Yes, Luz. I did," said Willow, looking at Luz.
"Well, you're all guilty, so you'll all be punished by cleaning my house top to bottom," said Eda, conjuring forth cleaning supplies. "And another thing... that was totally amazing. And I'm so joining you for next year's conjuring. Now…"
"I'll take on Danielle's cleaning as well," said Luz, before looking towards Danielle. "To make it up to her."
"Yeah…" said Eda, looking towards Danielle than Luz. "Care to explain?"
"How bout later?" asked Luz, grabbing a mop. "Much later."
"Nyeh," said King, crawling under Danielle's arm before cuddling with her.

"Hey, Danielle," said Luz, turning around and looking at Danielle. "I'm sorry… about earlier."
"It's over and done with," said Danielle, shifting on her side of the futon. "Let's just…"
"Your grampa…" said Luz, staring at the ceiling. "Sounds like a…"
"Look, I love and respect my grampa," said Danielle, staring up at the ceiling as well. "But he scares me. I wouldn't be here if he didn't have my dad and such."
"Oh," said Luz, gripping her sleeping bag.
"That pamphlet that you had of that camp that I tossed in the fireplace," said Danielle, still staring at the ceiling. "Wasn't a good place back when it was built."
"What?" said Luz, staring at Danielle.
"Grampa established that camp to put ones he believed that shouldn't be here in their place," said Danielle, thinking back on what she was told. "Barely any food or water. Not allowed to leave the premises."
"Why would he…" said Luz, looking at Danielle.
"Grampa is a veteran, a soldier from the Cold War," said Danielle, staring at the ceiling. "And what's worse, when he was just eleven, witnessed his sister's death."
"Oh my," said Luz, shocked. "Were you ever told what happened?
"Deadly love triangle," replied Danielle, deeply sighing. "Great Aunt Ivy fell in love with an Asian man. But the was another that loved him as well. An African American man."
"So, I'm assuming that one of the two if not both killed your great aunt," said Luz, looking at Danielle.
"The Asian man didn't, he did kinda like my great aunt," said Danielle, still staring at the ceiling. "But the African American was more obsessive so…"
"He ended up killing your great aunt," said Luz, back to looking at the ceiling. "That's messed up."
"Grampa was with his sister that day further behind with the family dog," said Danielle, sighing. "Ended up sicking the family dog at the two in rage."
"Wait…" said Luz, looking at Danielle. "Wouldn't…"
"There was a case," said Danielle, closing her eyes. "And the African American was put behind bars but the family dog was also put down. So, grampa is prejudice against them and others that are not American."
"But…" said Luz, staring at Danielle.
"And when I mean American, I mean European Americans… English American…" said Danielle, back to looking at the ceiling. "Not dark skinned but white. Not Asian American… and such. He'll tell them to go back to their country even if they were born in America."
"Your grampa is messed up," said Luz, staring at the ceiling. "I mean…"
"It's okay," said Danielle, shifting to her side. "Grampa is grampa. There is no changing him. He's stuck in his ways."
"… …" said Luz, going silent.
"Also… I'm the one that past that test," said Danielle, before being pelted by Luz's pillow. "Hey! Pfft…"
"How the heck did you pass?" asked Luz, still pelting Danielle with her pillow.
"I… haha… studied…" said Danielle, laughing. "Luz… stop…"
"Uuh…" said Luz, stopping her pelting before going back into a sleeping position. "Good night, Danielle."
"Night Luz," said Danielle, before thinking as she gripped her comforter close. "I'm afraid when we go back home… we'll no longer be able to be friends."
Owl Pellet #15
(Set a few hours later)
After having cleaned the house after the joyride and bidding farewell to Willow and Gus, the inhabitants of the Owl House head to bed. Unbeknownst to them, something was walking their way upstairs before crawling under Danielle's blanket. Though during the night, Danielle was half sleeping on top of Luz.
"Mmm… what the?" said Danielle, sleepy while pulling her blanket to the side to reveal the action figure clinging to her ankle while looking at her. "Aaaaaaaaaaaah!"
"So loud," said Luz, as Danielle clung to her. "Too tight."
"Weh?!" shouted King, startled awake and looking at Danielle. "Danielle…"
"Die! Die! Die! Die!" screamed Danielle, getting the action figure off her ankle and slamming it with her pillow before setting off a light glyph. "Return to once you came!"
"Whoa there," said Eda, coming in the room and grabbing Danielle's hand that held the light sphere.
"Hooty to the rescue!" shouted Hooty, coming in through the window.
"I got it. I can undo the effects of the conjuring" said Eda, grabbing the action figure before seeing Danielle gripping Luz tightly.
"Help me," said Luz, trying to breath.
"Hooty, King," said Eda, looking at the two. "See if you can… get the two apart… and calm Danielle down."
"On it," said Hooty and King, as Eda left the room.
"It's gonna kill me, it's gonna kill me," said Danielle, shivering in fright.
"Where did this strength come from?" asked Luz, as Hooty and King tried to separate them.
"Mom!" said Danielle, clinging tighter. "Dad!"
"Help…" said Luz, as Danielle's grip got tighter. "… me."
