I don't own Disney's The Owl House. I do, however own the OC known as Danielle Hopkins. Hope you all enjoy my story on this lovely show.

Chapter Fifteen

Another day in the Demon Realm, another day for selling Eda's human garbage at market. Eda was basically just relaxing as King tried to sell samples. The girls otherwise were nearby at a local book fair that was going on.

"Partake of my free snack samples! Take them; I demand it as your ruler, the King of Demons!" said King, holding up a sample platter before tossing it to the ground. "Nyeh! Why isn't anyone paying attention to me? I'm their rightful overlord. Intellectually and such."

"Yeah... hey!" said Eda, grabbing a passerby and sniffing them. "It reeks more of nerd than money today."

"Guys!" shouted Luz, running over with Danielle. "You will not believe what's going on! It's a book fair! Where books come to life!"

"Hello," said a Book, jumping off a table before being kicked by Luz.

"Oo, it literally came to life," said Danielle, grabbing the book by its spine and placing it back on the table it was on.

"A fair without rides?" said King, staring at Luz.

"Who needs rides when this," said a Young Boy, shoving a book in King's face. "Can take you anywhere?"

"Nyeh," said King, tossing a piece of bacon on the Young Boy before a passing winged demon picks him up.

"A, ew," said Eda, grabbing a book then dropping it. "B, I'm bored. C, I feel like pickpocketing some dork while they browse."

"No, wait!" said Luz, as Eda walked away before looking at King. "Will you give it a chance? I'll let you ride in my hoodie!"

"Or mine," said Danielle, looking at King.

"Ooohoohoohoo!" said King, looking back and forth between Danielle and Luz before deciding on the latter and climbing into the hoodie.

"I think King likes Luz more," thought Danielle, pocketing her hands while following after Luz and King. "Luz does let him get away with more things than I do."

"This book fair's got everything! A zine-making workshop, meet and greets, and… what's that?" asked Luz, before gasping. "A writing competition!? I've always wanted to be a writer."

"Writing competition," thought Danielle, looking at the booth. "I can always use my alias I use on the two sites I go on."

"Writer? What?" said King, looking at Luz. "I thought you wanted to be a witch?"

"Of course I wanna be a witch. But where I'm from that's kinda... impossible. So my runner up dream was to be a writer," said Luz, before taking out a photo of herself when young. "I've had this about the author picture since I was seven years old. I know my good angle. I'm gonna enter the competition."

"So am I," thought Danielle, wanting to let her creativity out more.

"Ugh! What are these basement dwellers doing out in natural sunlight?" asked King, seeing a screaming witch run pass them.

"Um! We're in line for Jon De Plume, most famous writer on the Boiling Isles, famed author of the Realm Warriors series! I'm gonna have him read my story..." said Tinella, before whispering to themself. "And marry me."

"Such power. Such command he holds over his minions. I must have the same!" said King, watching Jon De Plume before looking at Luz. "I shall enter this competition."

"Really?" said Luz, staring at King. "We could work together! It'll be perfect! We're best friends, so we'll make the best team!"

"Uh… yeah… the best… of friends," said Danielle, in a low voice, thinking of two people back home. "Ming… Ling… why?"

"Team! Yes!" said King, excited. "My name goes first on the cover."

Heading back to the Owl House, Luz and King start planning. Danielle, otherwise, was cooking up a batch of cookies. After having set a timer, Danielle heads upstairs to check on Luz and King.

"Looks like they're just starting," thought Danielle, as Luz had set up a corkboard.

"Now, let's write down some ideas that we want to see in the story," said Luz, looking at King.

"I can write anything?" asked King, wagging his tail.

"Yeah!" said Luz, handing some notecards over. "We're brainstorming, every idea is a good idea."

"Mhm! Done!" said King, writing down his first idea and showing Luz.

"Aw, is that all you want to see?" asked Luz, before King wrote another down and showed her again. "Hmm."

"Those are interesting ideas," said Danielle, looking at King's notecards. "But I think violence could come in near the ending and the blood somewhere from middle to end. You two know what makes a good story?"

"Um…" said King, thinking before looking at Danielle. "Don't know."

"What?" said Luz, squinting her eyes at Danielle.

"I'm not questioning your writing skill Luz," said Danielle, looking at Luz. "I'm just…"

"Sounds like you are," said Luz, slightly glaring at Danielle as she crosses her arms over her chest.

"I'm trying to help," said Danielle, looking at Luz. "Every good story ever told can be broken down into three distinct parts. The beginning, the middle… and the twist."

"Ooooh," said King, wagging his tail in excitement.

"Hmmph," said Luz, sitting on the floor. "Look, me and King are doing fine. Why don't you just… I don't know. Make some cookies, mother hen."

"Mother hen?!" said Danielle, slightly blushing with anger. "I am so not a mother hen."

"Could have fooled me," said Luz, grabbing some notecards. "You act like one quite a bit."

"Well, excuse me for trying to make sure everyone is okay and such," said Danielle, before leaving the room. "Why do I have such a hard time connecting with my peers? It's that damn rumor of me being an ice queen. Who even started it to begin with?"

Heading back downstairs, Danielle hears the timer go off. As Luz and King continue their brainstorming, Danielle is drawing away as she sets another batch of cookies in the oven. After a while, Eda returns before preparing to leave again.

"Apprentices! Living room!" shouted Eda, from the living room.

"Hey Eda," said Danielle, walking into the living room. "Everything okay?"

"Hey!" said Luz, walking into the living room after Danielle. "What's up, boss lady?"

"Yes, everything's okay," replied Eda, looking at Danielle and Luz. "I am popping out for a few days to an undisclosed place to do undisclosed things. Danielle's in charge."

"Again!?" said Luz, looking at Eda.

"Yes, again," said Eda, staring at Luz. "No questions!"

"Oh, there are so questions," thought Luz, crossing her arms over her chest and turning her head away.

"Luz, don't question Eda here," said Danielle, putting her hand on Luz's shoulder only to be shrugged off.

"I said no questions!" said Eda, before closing the door.

"Wait," said Danielle, opening the door and spotting Eda. "Want some cookies for the road?"

"I'll have some when I get back," shouted Eda, flying away on her staff.

"Looks like it's just us for a few days," said Danielle, closing the door before looking at Luz. "Luz, wait…"

"I'm going back to writing," said Luz, leaving the living room.

"'Kay," said Danielle, sighing before leaning against the door. "Once… just once… would I like to have a friend again. I'm tired of having to be the adult all the time."

Hearing the timer go off, Danielle heads back to the kitchen. As the last few days went on, Danielle and Luz kept their distance from each other. Which was worrying both King and Hooty. While Luz kept writing her own story after getting into a little spat with King, Danielle tried to keep the house as tidy as she could. King by then, had at one point found a publisher by the name of Piniet to publish his story. Danielle, on occasions when not busy with housework and cooking, was drawing various pictures in different styles including one of her original drawing styles.

"I wonder how Luz is doing," said Danielle, walking on up to their shared room. "Hey, Luz."

"I'm busy," said Luz, typing away.

"Oh," said Danielle, holding her arm before King came into the room.

"Hey, Luz! Hey, Danielle! Guess who won the writing competition and became a blockbuster writer superstar?" said King, looking at Luz more than Danielle. "You're right, it's me! Me! Do you wanna touch my scarf? A fan crocheted it out of their own hair! It smells so bad!"

"Oh, my lanta," said Danielle, moving away slightly as the smell hits her before thinking. "Wait… weren't they working together?"

"My publisher is throwing a huge party for my book, Ruler's Reach," said King, pulling out a red envelope and placing it on the table. "And I, uh, I'd like for you to be there."

"Luz!" said Danielle, as she saw Luz push the envelope off the table before thinking. "Wait… he just wanted… Luz."

"Alright, fine! Be that way I guess," said King, leaving the room.

"Luz, what did you just do?" asked Danielle, concerned for King. "I thought you two were working together for this writing competition."

"Show's how much you were paying attention these last few days," said Luz, deeply sighing.

"Well… I'm going to support King," said Danielle, about to leave the room. "Should you decide to change your mind, well, that's all on you."

"Girl, you don't need him," said the Typewriter, looking at Luz as Danielle left the room.

"But I don't want to be mad at them either," said Luz, deeply sighing again. "Why does living with Danielle make it so hard?"

As day turns to night, after having eating dinner, King heads towards the Bonesborough Library where said event was taking place. After having cleaned the dishes, Danielle headed out on her way to support King. Luz wasn't too far behind as well, wanting to support King as well.

"Finally came," said Danielle, as they walked into the Bonesborough Library.

"Yeah," said Luz, not making eye contact.

"Luz, buddy!" said King, running over. "I'm so glad you could make it!"

"… …" said Danielle, holding her arm and looking to the side. "King really does favor Luz more."

"Hey, King, I didn't wanna be angry at your success," said Luz, looking at King. "You're my friend. So, congratulations!"

"Great to hear, 'cause I really need your help with my next book!" said King, holding up his new manuscript.

"Huh?" said Luz, staring at King.

"Apparently I can't write my daring works of genius without rebelling against your gushy fantasy slop!" said King, looking at Luz.

"King!" said Danielle, a little upset.

"Excuse me?" said Luz, blushing angrily.

"We make a great team! So, here's a pen," said King, clicking a pen. "Writey writey, clock's a-tickin'!"

"I'm not writing for you…" said Luz, only to see King grabbing his head in pain. "King? What's wrong?"

"Aah!" screamed King, falling to the floor.

"I got'cha," said Danielle, bending down and sitting King up. "There you go."

"King, what's the matter?" asked Luz, bending down to eye level with King.

"I-I don't know," replied King, before an image popped into his head.

"You've become like a little brother to me."

"Little brother?" said King, staring at Danielle.

"What?" said Luz, staring at King.

"Wait… how'd you know that I was seeing you as a little brother?" asked Danielle, looking at King, concerned.

"I-I-I…" replied King, only for some more images to come forth.

"Yeah, my parents tried three times to have another kid but each ended up as miscarriages. But now even though we're not blood related, I'm glad I found a little brother in you. Thanks King."

"Danielle?" thought King, before another image came forth.

"You might have been alone before, but you have us now."

"Luz?" thought King, as another image comes forth as well.

"Oh, you're growing up too fast for me, kiddo."

"Eda?" thought King, as another image comes forth again. "What's going on?"

"I don't know what you are, but stay away from my nephew!"

"Why the heck did I see Lilith?" asked King, as another image came forth. "And why'd she call me her nephew?"

"I don't want anyone else to go away. I don't want anyone else to go missing! I'm sorry for everything!"

"Who was that?" asked King, as Danielle and Luz pulled him into a hug before one last image surfaced.

"Eda, King. Looks like we're gonna be split up again. I feel like I should be used to this feeling by now, but... I still don't know what to say."

"Noooo!" shouted King, as the last one finally hit before running away from Danielle and Luz.

"King!" shouted Danielle and Luz, trying to run after King.

"What's going on?" asked King, hiding behind some bookshelves. "I don't recognize these images. But Danielle thinks of me as her little brother. An-and Luz… … … what am I gonna do? I can't write without her."

"Hmm..." said Piniet, spying on King from behind the bookshelf before walking over to Danielle and Luz. "Young ladies, I'm Piniet of Piniet Publishing House. I'd like to have a word with you two."

"'Kay," said Danielle, before grabbing Luz's arm. "I don't trust this sleazebag for some reason. Be on guard."

"Got'cha," said Luz, grabbing some Light Glyphs.

"Follow me," said Piniet, gesturing Danielle and Luz to follow him to a room in the back of the building. "I heard you're an aspiring writer."

"So," said Danielle, protectively standing in front of Luz before hearing her gasp. "Luz?"

"Blinding Light!" shouted Luz, setting off the Light Glyphs.

"Gaah!" shouted Piniet, blinded as Luz grabs Danielle's hand and runs out of the room.

"Luz?" said Danielle, as they ran.

"We got to find King!" said Luz, searching around. "I saw… I saw…"

"What'd ya see?" asked Danielle, looking at Luz.

"He had us… me and King… trapped in a shrinking box," replied Luz, still searching in a panic. "All so he could get his next bestseller out of King."

"Then we need to destroy the contract," said Danielle, grabbing Luz. "If King signed such a thing, he is bound to it. Contracts here are enforced by magic. Destroy it and its null and void."

"Okay then," said Luz, deeply sighing to calm herself. "But we need to find King as well. Something is going on with him."

"I know, Luz," said Danielle, sighing as she slides her hands down Luz's arms. "I know."

Thinking of a plan to deal with Piniet, Danielle and Luz still search for King in the process. Danielle hands some of her glyphs to Luz to expand her repertoire in dealing with Piniet for the time being. Coming up with a plan, Danielle and Luz don't notice Piniet's bodyguards coming upon them. Grabbing Danielle and Luz, they struggle in the bodyguards hold before setting off a Light Glyph in the bodyguards eyes.

"Whoa!" said Luz, as Danielle set off a Wood Glyph and pillared themselves up to the top of the bookshelves.

"Bastard," said Danielle, looking down at the bodyguards. "Let's go."

"Right," said Luz, running alongside Danielle. "We'll be able to see King a lot better from up here."

"I'm not letting you two escape," said Piniet, climbing up the bookshelves.

"Electro Web," said Luz, activating a Lightning Glyph and sending it towards Piniet.

"Ah!" screamed Piniet, being encased and shocked in the web of lightning magic.

"This way," said Danielle, using the Wood Glyph to make a bridge from the bookshelf to the next. "Bastard is persistent. See King yet?"

"No," replied Luz, before one of the bodyguards shatter the bridge with Earth Magic. "Wha-aah!"

"Luz," said Danielle, grabbing Luz and flipping them around so she would take the full impact.

"Danielle!" shouted Luz, as they landed on the floor before the bodyguards slam down and pin her. "Noo!"

"Huh…" said King, peeking out from his hiding spot. "Luz… Danielle…"

"Luz…" said Danielle, her eyes slightly glowing through squinted eyes.

"You two are a lot more trouble than I thought," said Piniet, staring at the girls with his pen taking on a battleaxe form. "However, I still have need of you."

A roar is heard. King jumps out of his hiding spot but something was different about him. There was a glowing purple film over his eyes, a faint blue glow in his mouth. His one horn looked a little longer and his fur was slightly longer and spiky.

"King?" said Danielle and Luz, staring at King.

"Ah, finally you show yourself," said Piniet, staring at King.

"I won't let you take them from me," shouted King, glaring at Piniet.

"Ah-ah," said Piniet, holding out a contract. "I have you under contract. Now unless you want those two girls…"

"WEH!" shouted King, sending a crackling burst of magic into Piniet's ears.

"Ah! I made you a star, and this is how you repay me?" said Piniet, holding his ears before seeing King's signature glowing and burning the contract. "How in the name of Titan are you doing that?"

"WEH!" shouted King, doing the same thing to the bodyguards before headbutting Piniet in the stomach and down the hall.

"King!" shouted Luz, getting up before her leg was grabbed by a bodyguard and lifted up. "Wha-aah!"

"Let go," said Danielle, being lifted up by the other bodyguard much like Luz. "I said… Let go!"

"Whoa," said Luz, seeing Danielle send a faint star at the bodyguard's arm, puppet-fying it then kicking it.

"Aah!" screamed Bodyguard #1, looking at his arm before running away. "My arm! My arm!"

"Brother, wait up," said Bodyguard #2, running after his brother.

"Well, that's over," said Luz, before King barreled into her. "King."

"Don't leave me," cried King, tears streaming down his face. "Don't ever leave me."

"Let's get King back home," said Danielle, looking at Luz. "I think that's for the best."

"Agreed," said Luz, picking King up and following Danielle.

Leaving the Bonesborough Library, Danielle and Luz while carrying King head back to the Owl House. While walking, Danielle felt a little hurt that King chose Luz and not the both of them. Opening the door and heading up to their room, Luz places King in their bed as he had fallen asleep beforehand in her arms. Heading downstairs, Danielle and Luz see that Eda had just returned.

"Hey, kids. Woof," said Eda, dropping her staff before cracking her back. "That was a rough couple days."

"I'd say," said Danielle, yawning before stretching.

"Agreed," said Luz, sitting down on the couch alongside Danielle.

"Ah. Well, nothing a bit of apple blood and a good book can't mend," said Eda, sitting on the couch.

"I need to post something on my cell phone," said Danielle, taking her cell phone out of her pocket.

"We hate books," said Luz, getting up off the couch. "Wow, look at the time!"

"I'll explain later," said Danielle, finally done with her post. "There we go."

"Huh…" said Luz, hearing her cell phone ding and checking it. "Oh, one of my favorite authors is going on hiatus for a while."

"What?" said Danielle, staring at Luz.

"See," said Luz, showing her cell phone to Luz. "Here on . Meaning they won't be updating on AO3 as well. Darn."

"They probably have their reasons," said Danielle, lightly scratching her cheek and looking away.

"You're right," said Luz, sitting down before staring at Danielle's cell phone. "Oh… my… gosh…"

"No-no," said Danielle, turning off her cell phone. "You did not see that."

"Oh my gosh," said Luz, excitedly staring at Danielle. "You're that author. I can't believe it. I love your fanfics."

"Can you forget you saw that?" asked Danielle, looking at Luz.

"I'll leave you two alone," said Eda, holding a certain book before leaving the living room. "You two still have much to explain… about this."

"Yes Eda," said Danielle, blushing in embarrassment.

"I love your Naruto fanfic," said Luz, looking at Danielle. "Replacing Naruto with Michi, changing the date of the Kyuubi attack to April. Having her eloped with Gaara at the end if Shippuden. It was such an enjoyable ride."

"I'm glad you liked it Luzura," said Danielle, slightly blushing.

"Wait…" said Luz, staring at Danielle. "You knew?"

"Yeah, within the first week," said Danielle, grinning. "Luzura the Good Witch."

"Take it for you to place the pieces together," said Luz, sighing.

"I enjoyed seeing your reviews and comments," said Danielle, leaning back into the couch. "You never flamed, gave good advice and encouraged me whenever I was down cause I got sick those times."

"Good to know I helped," said Luz, smiling. "So, your pokémon fanfic, Wish upon a Star… you going to do Paldea?"

"Not for this one," replied Danielle, looking at Luz. "Wish upon a Star encompasses the original series, Hoenn to Sinnoh, with Kalos being last."

"No Unova," said Luz, confused.

"Not entirely, I plan to add the Decolore Islands so at least Alexa is introduced and gives Satoshi a reason for Kalos," said Danielle, looking at Luz.

"Wonder what they have in store for Ash in Paldea," said Luz, leaning back into the couch.

"Whole other story. There is no Ash for this series."

"That's interesting," said Danielle, looking at the ceiling. "Looks like Ash's journey ends soon. We're getting a whole new series with brand new lead characters."

"They're retiring Ash?!" said Luz, looking at Danielle.

"There's a shiny Rayquaza."

"Someone is excited," said Luz, seeing Danielle get excited.

"There's gonna be a shiny Rayquaza," said Danielle, excited. "The best dragon shiny in my book."

As the night went on, Luz and Danielle talked about their fanfics to each other. At one point, King had woken up crying and barreled into Luz again. Calling it a night, Danielle and Luz head to bed, with King clinging to Luz.

"Hey Luz," said Danielle, putting a letter in a box. "What is it?"

"I can't believe it," said Luz, grabbing Danielle's pen. "You got an Azura pen. I thought you hated the Azura series."

"I-I-I… just because I don't like the series doesn't mean anything," said Danielle, grabbing her pen with a blush. "Some of the merch is kinda cute. I just happened to like the pen… which resembles… her staff… go ahead and laugh."

"Why would I," said Luz, looking at Danielle. "If I remember correctly, this pen was from the last convention in Gravesfield… meaning you were there when I was."

"Guess so," said Danielle, laying on her futon.

"Did you dress up?" asked Luz, with a grinning smile. "Did you?"

"… …" said Danielle, keeping silent with a slight blush.

"I'm taking that blush as a yes," said Luz, giggling with a smile.

Owl Pellet #23

"I can't believe these drawings," said Luz, looking at the drawings Danielle drew. "Then again, I've seen your drawings on deviantart and AO3."

"Dang it," said Eda, looking at the drawings as well. "How many drawing styles do you have?"

"Quite a bit," replied Danielle, looking at Eda. "Though I do have an original style."

"These are…" said Luz, staring at the drawings. "Amazing."

"…" said Eda, staring at a specific drawing.

"Eda, is everything…" said Danielle, looking at the drawing Eda was looking at. "Oh, this is the tengu drawing I did of you."

"Eda?" said Luz, looking at Eda, concerned.

"Sorry kids. It's just…" said Eda, staring at the drawing. "I swear… I've seen this."

"Forget that," said King, holding up a specific drawing. "Did you have to draw a baby version of me?"

"Aaw," said Luz, staring at the picture before holding a different one. "Now that I think of it, you even drew one of me."

"Yeah, I find that weird," said Danielle, confusing everyone. "I've been drawing these pictures for years. I thought I just had a big imagination but… to see the people I drew were actually real people, it's just…"

"I'm wondering if you should study under the Oracle Track in Hexside," said Eda, looking at Danielle. "Same with you Luz."

"But I want to study under every track," said Luz, looking at Eda.

"I'm not saying you shouldn't," said Eda, looking at Luz. "But these images that's popping in our heads lately…"

"I think I understand what you're talking about," said Danielle, looking at Eda. "Something is going on… and we need to figure it out."

Owl Pellet #24

A dragon of mold appears, covering the isles. Piercing blue eyes, glowing with such hatred. A volatile blue flame spewed from the dragon's maw. Luz slowly being encased by the mold as a child floats near her.

"Eda, King. Looks like we're gonna be split up again. I feel like I should be used to this feeling by now, but... I still don't know what to say."

"Noooo!" screamed King, waking the girls up.

"What the…" said Danielle, before looking at King. "King?"

"King," said Luz, pulling King into a hug.

"Don't leave," cried King, gripping Luz. "Please, don't leave."

"It's okay King. It's okay," said Danielle, soothingly rubbing King's back. "We're not going anywhere."

"Oh great, you're gonna cart me away to the coven now, are you?" asked Eda, after dealing with the merchant who sold them a map to a fake flower.

"Not now. Because I want to give you a chance to join on your own! Join me in the Emperor's Coven, Edalyn," said Lilith, holding out her hand. "He could even heal your curse."

"No, I'll heal it on my own terms. I don't wanna owe him anything," said Eda, gently pushing Lilith's hand back. "Catch you later, sis."

"Not if I catch you first," said Lilith, before stopping Eda from flying away. "Edalyn, hold up."

"What is it?" asked Eda, staring at Lilith.

"Have you been having strange images… visions popping into your head lately?" asked Lilith, looking at Eda.

"Why?" asked Eda, staring at Lilith.

"Ever since I've met that half witch…" replied Lilith, looking at Eda.

"Danielle. Her name is Danielle," said Eda, looking at Lilith.

"Right… Danielle," said Lilith, correcting herself. "Ever since I met her, I've been having strange visions popping into my head. But what doesn't make sense is the fact that some of these visions is… how do I say… like they happened already."

"I've been getting that sense too," said Eda, scratching the side of her forehead. "Even the Owl Beast is more docile lately but also wary. I think it knows what's going on."

"I'm thinking of telling the emperor," said Lilith, deeply sighing. "But a deeper part of me… is warning me not to."

"Lily," said Eda, staring at Lilith, concerned.

"Edalyn," said Lilith, staring at Eda. "I think… something horrendous is going to take place on the Day of Unity… and I don't know what it is."

(The Next Morning)

"Hey Danielle," said Luz, gaining Danielle's attention. "I don't recognize your toothpaste from anywhere. Where'd you get it?"

"…" said Danielle, spitting out her toothpaste. "Mom says its from her country so I'm assuming now its somewhere here in the Demon Realm."

"I wonder what ingredients they use," said Luz, before looking in the mirror. "My teeth have never been this white."

"It's a good toothpaste," said Danielle, grabbing some floss. "I've never had any problems with my teeth. Well, unless you count me losing my baby teeth and my adult teeth growing in."

"Well, they got a new customer," said Luz, before gurgling and spitting the remainder of the toothpaste out.

"I can lend you some when we get back home," said Danielle, looking at Luz. "We got a ton of it. Never really had to buy any toothpaste even when mom left."

"Yes please," said Luz, looking at Danielle. "Then I don't have to go to the dentist again."
