Chapter 1

Staying together.

It's a nice day on the Boiling Isles. And Raine Whispers is out in a field of flowers. With them is a young woman and not just any young woman. Her name is Eda Clawthorne and Raine has known her since they were in High School. Raine has skipped out on a performance because of their stage freight. Eda got out her bell cittern and started playing. She knows why Raine is really there. So she decided to give Raine some advice.

"You can't let your fears get the better of you. So you should get the jump on them. Give em a whack right in the face." advised Eda

All Raine could do is blush and watch Eda play. They think that Eda is the most beautiful witch around. Especially when she is using Bard magic. Soon Eda stopped playing and isn't doing so well. Raine noticed and asked "Eda are you ok?" She nodded and replied "Yeah I'm fine. Everything's fine." Raine knows somewhat about Eda's curse. And they know that she doesn't always tell them the truth. Raine is getting tired of the lies. So they have decided to tell Eda something.

"Eda you're lying again. It's like I don't even know you. So I've made a decision I'm joining the Bard coven." stated Raine

Eda has a feeling what Raine is going to say next. But she doesn't want to lose them. She also is afraid to let Raine in close. Suddenly Eda can feel her curse acting up. So she stood up and turned away from Raine. She looked at her hands and they started to turn. The young woman groaned loudly because it hurts every time. Raine heard Eda groan and asked "Eda are you sure you're ok? Is it the curse?" Eda didn't answer and is trying not to transform. Raine has had enough so they. Walked over to Eda and said "Eda please let me help you." Eda doesn't want to possible hurt Raine so she walked away.

"Raine stay away I'm fine just go." begged Eda

Raine didn't listen to Eda's plea. And walked around her until they were facing her. Raine gasped when they saw Eda's face and arms. Eda also gasped and said "Raine get away from me. I don't want to hurt you." Raine reached out to Eda and pleaded "Eda please let me help you. I love you." The young woman loves Raine also so. She decided to let Raine help.

"I love you too Raine. I'm sorry that I lied to you." stated Eda with tears in her eyes

Just then she groaned and more feathers ran up her arms then she growled. Eda managed to say "There should be an elixir in my hair." Raine nodded and close enough to reach into Eda's hair. They felt around until they felt something glass. Raine grabbed it and pulled it out of Eda's hair. They looked at it and saw that they have. A potion bottle with a yellow liquid in it.

"Is this it Eda?" asked Raine

"Eda nodded and replied "Yes that it please open it. And pore it in my mouth. Do it quickly I don't know how longer I can. Hold back my transformation." Raine nodded, opened the elixir, and poured it into Eda's mouth. Eda swallowed and turned back to normal. The young woman went to her knees. The she covered her face with her hands. She started to cry and said "Oh Raine I'm so sorry that I lied to you. And I'm sorry you had to see that." sobbed Eda

Raine went to their knees as well. Then they said "Calm down Eda I forgive you. After what I just saw I don't blame you. For keeping me at arm's length." They wrapped Eda in a hug and said "It's ok Eda calm down. I'm right here." Eda sniffled and said "You're here until for now until join the Bard coven. You know that I don't plan on joining a coven."

"Yes I know that you. Don't plan on joining a coven. And that ok you do you Eda. But I want to make a difference. I'll just keep my relationship with you a secret." informed Raine

Eda calmed down and asked "Are you will to do that?" Raine nodded and replied "Yes I am I love you Eda" Eda wrapped her arms around Raine and said "I love you too Raine." Now the couple is wrapped in each other's arm. Raine stare rubbing Eda's back and kissing her forehead. Now Eda had completely calmed down. Soon she and Raine pulled away and smiled at each other. Then Raine said "I should get going. I'll be joining the Bard coven in a couple of days. I'll come see you when I can." Eda nodded and watched Raine leave. Then she stood and went home herself.

Two years have passed and Raine. Has been able to keep their relationship with Eda a secret. Both and Eda and Raine are now 24 years old. No thanks to her curse. Eda has added more grey to her long wild orange hair. But Raine doesn't mind on bit. To them Eda is beautiful. The couple wants to get married. But since Eda is a wild witch and Raine being in the Bard coven. That they want to keep their relationship a secret. So they can't get married. That's ok as far as they are concerned they are married. Right now Eda and Raine are a couple of miles away from Eda's house. They are on a picnic in a small field.

The couple have been enjoying the food and each other's company. Just then clouds started gathering. Eda looked up at the clouds and said "I don't like the looks of those clouds. It looks like boiling rain. We should pack up and head to my house." Raine also looked at the clouds and nodded in agreement. The couple packed up their picnic and headed to Eda's house. Eda lives on the edge of Bonesborough near the boiling sea. She has an interesting security system. His name is Hooty and he is a bug/house demon. Luckily Raine and Eda made it to Eda's house. Before it started to rain. Raine went into the house first while Eda stayed outside.

Eda quickly casted a protection spell to protect her house. Then she went into the house just as it started raining. Feeling feathery Eda quickly got an elixir out of her hair. She opened it then drank it. Then she took the empty bottle to the kitchen. After putting the empty bottle in her kitchen. Eda went back into the living room and said "Sorry the weather cut our picnic sort."

"It's ok plus out picnic doesn't have to end." stated Raine

Eda looked and saw that Raine has. Spread out the picnic blanket out on the floor. And they have gotten the food back out of the basket. Eda smiled and sat next to Raine. She kissed them on the forehead and said "It's no wonder why I love you so much Rainestorm." Raine blushed from their cheeks to their ears. The couple ate, drank, talked and, laughed until it started getting late. But it's raining out and Raine will have to get going soon. Raine looked out the window and saw how dark it's getting.

"I've enjoyed myself as always Eda. But I have to get going." stated Raine

"Umm there is no way anyone is going anywhere. Right now not with it still raining." informed Hooty

"Looks like you're spending the night here Raine." stated Eda

Raine nodded and said "I guess I am." The couple cleaned up then Eda lead Raine upstairs. They went into Eda's room and looked around. Raine doesn't see a bed but they do see a nest. Eda went through her collection of mortal realm clothes. And found some night clothes for Raine. Raine took the clothes from Eda. And left to go find the bathroom. Since there are no more secrets between Eda and Raine. She has told them about the portal door. And how she uses it from time to time. To go to the mortal realm to explore. As long as Eda is careful Raine is going to let Eda be Eda. Raine found the bathroom and got changed.

After getting changed Raine went back to Eda's bedroom. Once back in the bedroom. Raine saw that Eda is in the nest and looks cozy. Raine got into the nest and is surprised how comfortable it feels. They also looked and saw that Eda is wearing a blue night gown. Eda noticed Raine and motion for them to come closer. Raine smiled and moved closer to Eda. The couple wrapped each other into each other's arms. They got comfortable and listened to the rain.
