Chapter 6
Leaving the nest.
Once at the owl house the family celebrated Athena's graduation. While they were eating Raine asked "Athena honey are you sure that you want to become a wild witch?" Athena nodded and replied "Yes I'm sure Dad." Eda smiled and said "I am so proud." Athena looked at her father and asked "Have you ever thought about what Mom has said?" Raine nodded and replied "Yes I have thought about it. And I believe that she's right." Athena raised an eyebrow and asked "Then why do you stay with the Bard coven?"
Raine sighed and replied "Because a few years after. I started teaching I found out. That some witches have been disappearing. There is something not quite right going on. So I have been rising through the ranks. To try to figure out what's going on." Eda gave Raine a kiss and said "Knowing you you'll figure it out." The family celebrated until Eda had to put King to bed. Raine decided to spend the night. Two days later while Eda was doing chores. When she went by Athena's room. She noticed that Athena is packing. The witch went into her daughter's room and asked "You do realize that you can stay here right?"
Athena saw mother and replied "Yes I do realize that I can stay here. But I've saved up come snails. And found a good spot in the woods a couple of miles from here." Eda raised an eyebrow and said "But there isn't anything there its all woods." Athena smirked and said "I know the perfect place to start a wild witch encampment." Eda smiled with pride and said "You want to help wild witches like us." Athena nodded and said "Yes I do I also want to give them a place to live." Eda wrapped her daughter in a hug and said "I am so proud of you Athena." Soon they pulled away and Eda asked "When do you plan on leaving sweet heart?" Athena smiled and replied "I plan on leaving tomorrow."
Eda nodded and decided to let her daughter continue packing. She went down stairs and found a piece of paper and a pen. Eda wrote a note, gave it to Owlbert, and said "Take this to Raine please." Owlbert took the note and flew off. Twenty minutes later Owlbert found Raine and gave them the note. Raine the note and said "I will be there." Owlbert hooted and went back home. The next day Raine and Eda are wishing their daughter well and luck. They aren't saying goodbye considering Athena won't be far away. Eda hugged Athena and said "Don't be a stranger ok." Athena hugged her mother and said "Don't worry I'll visit."
Eda and Athena pulled away then Raine hugged their daughter. Then Raine said "Be careful sweetie and if you need anything. Just let your mother and I know." Athena hugged her father and said "Don't worry Dad I'll be careful. And if I need anything I'll let you and Mom know." After hugging her father Athena hugged King. King hugged back and said "I'll miss you Athena." Athena smiled and said "I'll miss you too little brother." After getting her hugs and assuring her family that she will be ok Athena left. One year has passed and Athena is in Palm Stings. So far she has helped 30 wild witches. And 20 of them have decided to live in Athena's wild witch encampment.
Athena and a group of five witches from her encampment. Have stopped a group of coven scouts from capturing some wild witches. She opened carriage and let the witches out. Ten witches got out of the carriage. They saw a small group of witches. A brown haired male named Victor said "Thank you for helping us. We weren't looking forward to going to the conformatorium." Athena put down the hood of her cloak and said "Not a problem us wild witches need to stick together. If you want to you can either come with us. Or return to your homes." Six out of the ten witches followed Athena and her group. Half way to the encampment Victor asked "Where are we going?"
"We are going to a wild witch encampment. That I started last year. It's a safe place for us to live and practice our magic." replied Athena
"Who are you? And are you sure this place is safe?" asked a witch
Athena stopped, turned around, and replied "Titan where are my manner?" My name is Athena Clawthorne-Whispers. And yes my encampment is safe. I scouted out the location myself. One the coven scouts don't out that far. And two if they did they would have go by my Mother's house first." A witch gasped and asked "Clawthorne as in Eda the owl lady? Are you related to her?" Athena nodded and replied "Yes I am she's my mother." With that said Athena turned back around and kept walking. An hour later the group of witches arrived at the encampment.
Athena pointed to some empty huts and said "Go ahead and pick a place to live. All I ask for in return is help out around here. Like helping tending to the garden, going out hunting, and going to the market place for supplies." The six witches nodded and picked out their new homes. Victor couldn't help but to be enamored by Athena. He picked out a hut and made himself at home. A year has passed and Athena has added 12 more witches to her encampment. She has also fallen for Victor and the two. Have been courting for a few months now. What Athena doesn't know is that Eda. Has taken on a human apprentice named Luz Noceda.
And while on a class trip to the Emperor's castle. Luz and her friends got caught trying to take the healing hat. So that Luz can try to heal Eda of her curse. They were caught by Lilith who sent Luz's friends with her staff to get Eda. And that evening as the sun set Eda and Lilith dueled. To protect Luz Eda used up what magic she had left. Luz returned to the Owl House the next morning. Lilith ended up finding out that Emperor Belos. Had no intention to heal Eda of her curse. And add her to the Emperor's coven. Instead he is having her sent to the conformatorium to be petrified. To send a message to all of the wild witches.
Now that Lilith knows that she's been lied to. She is beside herself and wants to help Eda. With Luz and King showing up at the conformatorium. They were able to help Eda escape. Now Luz, King, Eda, and Lilith are at the owl house. A witch named Violet that lives in Athena's encampment. Saw and heard about had happed. So she rushed back to the encampment. She found Athena outside enjoying the night. Violet went up to Athena and told her what she saw and heard. Just as Violet finished telling Athena everything. They saw a bright light come from the direction of the owl house.
"Thank you for telling me what's going on. I'll go see my mother tomorrow." stated Athena
