New York City, the Big Apple, the City that never sleeps, and home to some of the Earth's greatest urban legends, one of which involved strange green men, trained in the ways of the Ninja, that strike hard and fade away into the Night.
This night however, over on the rooftops a purple triangle portal opened from above as six green figures in bandages and mask fell through and crashed onto the rooftop, five appeared to be female while the sixth was a male.
Just as the portal closed as the Green masked Turtle sat up and rubbed his head, "Well, at least we're safe." He moaned.
"For now." The light blue masked girl turtle, with it's masked braided, said with a serious look. "We were lucky we escaped at all."
"But can I bring up another point?" The Periwinkle masked girl turtle asked while looking out in the city. "Where the heck are we?" She asked.
"We're in the city, genius," the yellow-masked girl turtle answered brashly.
"Yes, but which city?" The Brown bandana girl turtle questioned as they stood up and observed their surroundings, "It doesn't look like we're in Japan anymore,"
"I think they call this place New York," the pink-masked girl turtle answered.
"How could you tell?" the Yellow turtle asked.
The pink turtle then jerked her finger to a billboard, "Oh because it says so on that big sign," She said as the billboard read 'New York City, The Big Apple!'.
"How did we miss that?" The light blue turtle asked in surprise.
The brown turtle gave a worried sighed, "On the other side of the world, Master Orimura and Lady Dariyasa must be so worried. How will we ever make it home?" She wondered.
The green turtle placed a hand on her shoulder, "We'll find a way Maolier," He assured her, "For now, I suggest we take advantage of our time here."
"Yeah? How?" The Yellow Turtle asked with a brow.
"Do you remember the rumors we heard from the mainland, about a strange green man roaming around in this city," the Green turtle reminded them, "If they are like us then maybe they can help us,"
"That would be the most logical course of action," the Periwinkle turtle said while rubbing her chin, "But where do start searching for them?"
"Well, if we were in a city where people would get freaked out by the mere sight of us, where'd we hide?" The Pink Turtle questioned.
They all looked around before the light blue turtle looked to the streets and noticed a manhole cover, "Well, we would hide somewhere that humans wouldn't dare venture down to find us," She said in thought.
"Underground, in the sewers," Maolier finished as they jumped down into the streets as the green turtle took off the manhole cover and one by one the five jumped down into the sewers.
As they landed, they looked around for any signs of humans in the sewers. "Well, the coast is clear." The Cyan turtle said to them.
"Let's move girls," the Green turtle said as they dashed into the darkness.
After a bit of trekking, the sextet of turtles soon found themselves traveling down an abandoned subway tunnel, "Wow, the humans sure build big caves," The pink turtle said in amazement.
"I think they're for those big, metal, snake things humans ride in," the Yellow turtle guessed.
"I believe the humans call them trains, Jenny." The Periwinkle Turtle pointed out.
Then they heard the sound of music playing and turned to the entrance of subway station, "What could that be?" Maolier wondered as they headed over to the station and peeked through the gates.
Inside they saw all sort of contraptions and other items they had never seen before, "Wow, this place is pretty cool," the Pink turtle said in wonder.
"Gotta admit, this place makes the village look pretty dull," Jenny admitted.
The Light Blue Turtle looked to the right and gasped, "Um, guys. Look," She pointed as the others followed her finger and gasped as they saw four male turtles, with weapons and masks colored, red, orange, blue, and Purple, watching on a box with a screen of light and sound.
"They're, turtles," The brown turtle started.
"Like us?" The pink turtle added in shock.
Maolier then turned to the green turtle, "What should we do, Olivier?" She asked.
"I think maybe we should-" Olivier was cut off when he put his hand on some flat boxes, which he accidentally tripped and the boxes fell, which caught the four male turtles' attention as they turned to the six.
"Intruders!" The purple one exclaimed.
"Oh dear," the periwinkle turtle gulped.
The four then grabbed their weapons and ran to the entrance, "Get'em!" The Blue masked turtle ordered.
"Girls, fall back!" Olivier ordered as they ran into the tunnels with the four turtles right behind them, "Quick to the surface!" He said as they climbed up and headed for the rooftops.
As the Leo and his brothers chased the six intruders out of the sewers and into the city, they looked around before he saw them jumping across the rooftops, "There they go!" Leo pointed with his swords.
"Let's get 'em! No Foot gets away from me!" Raph said while spinning his sais.
"Uh, dudes. Are we even sure that they're part of the Foot?" Mikey asked in wonder. "I mean, from how many times we've kicked their butts, they usually attack first and ask questions later."
"Maybe they were scouts, looking for the lair," Donnie suggested.
"Well we won't know unless we catch them, come on!" Leo said as they jumped to the rooftops and chased after the six ninja. They kept jumping from rooftops to rooftops until they see the six ninjas ahead. "There they are!"
"Alright, let's kick some shell!" Raph exclaimed as he jumped forward with his sai ready.
But just before he could make contact, one Ninja spun around and kicked him right in the jaw knocking him back to his brothers. "Oh snap! They're quick!" Mikey commented.
Raph stood up as he rubbed his jaw. "Lucky shot, is all." He said as he stood up. "Let's try again!"
The six pulled out their weapons, a battle axe, chakrams, bladed-bow and arrows, steel claws, ribbon whips and a long spear. They stuck to the shadows, surrounding the four brothers as they jumped out and stuck them before disappearing into the darkness again.
"Oh, now I know what merry-go-round feels like," Mikey groaned as he rubbed his head.
Donnie turned to his older brother, "What do we do, Leo?" He asked.
Leo held Katanas up as he concentrated, focused on their opponents timing before, as the one with the axe jumped out, "Gotcha!" Leo shouted as he swung his swords, blocking his strike before sweeping his legs, knocking the ninja down before he and his brothers held him at weapon point, "Sorry, but no reporting to Shredder for-" Leo stopped himself when he and his brothers got a look at the Ninja.
Instead of a black mask with a red bandana and goggles like the Foot Ninja did, they saw green scaled skin, matched by a brighter green mask with brown eyes, "By Darwin's beard," Donnie gasped in shock.
"Y-You're a…" Raph trailed off.
"Holy Chalupa," Mikey gasped before turning to his brothers, "Another Turtle?!" He exclaimed.
"H-How is this possible?" Leo questioned before another Ninja kicked him from side as Leo gave a yell before he crashed into his brothers as they fell to the floor. The four groaned and sat up and gasped as they saw the other ninja, who were helping up the green masked turtle, were in fact turtles too. Female turtles to be precise.
One had a cyan mask, with braided bandanas and chakrams for weapons, the second had a yellow mask, a scar on her cheek and steel claws for weapons, the third had a periwinkle mask with long bandanas hanging from a bun and a bladed bow for a weapon with a quiver of arrows on her shell, the fourth had a pink mask that was braided into two pigtails and ribbon whips for her weapons and the fifth had a brown mask braided down thick, brown shoulderless sleeves, a rice hat and her weapon was a long samurai spear.
"More turtle?!" Donnie asked in shock.
"And they're lady turtles?!" Mikey asked in awe.
"No way!" Raph gasped.
The yellow-masked turtle turned to the four with a glare, "You got a problem with girls?" She asked while brandishing her claws.
The boys flinched back when they saw her claws. "Uh… N-No! We're just… Just surprise is all!" Donnie quickly said.
The brown-masked turtle held up her hand, to prevent another fight from happening, "Alright listen, I believe we may have gotten off on the wrong foot," She said before walking over to Leo and helping him up, "I can assure you we are not part of this 'Foot' you speak of," She told him.
"Well, technically we have feet of our own," The Pink masked turtle joked while wiggling her foot before the yellow-masked turtle smacked her on the back of her head, "Ow!"
"Hmm, where have I seen this before?" Mikey wondered before Raph smacked him on the back of his head, "Ow! There it is."
"Okay, okay. Let's try this again. My name is Olivier," the green-masked turtle introduced, "These are my sisters, Venus De Milo, Jennika, Talena and Amoly. And my friend, Maolier."
"Pleasure to meet you, I'm Leonardo," Leo replied before gesturing to his brothers, "This is Raphael, Donatello, and Michelangelo."
"Seriously?" Jennika asked with a brow.
"Our father was really into Renaissance painters," Donnie explained.
"And he's a rat!" Mikey added as the six blinked in surprise.
"We're not your enemy." Maolier said to them, recovering from the surprise. "We came here through a portal trying to escape some strange men hunting us down, Talena managed to acquire one of their devices and transported us to safety."
"There was something off about them though," Venus explained while rubbing her chin, "They almost acted, robotic in nature,"
"And they talked like 'Kraang, eliminate those are known as mutations to secure safety on planet known as Planet Earth for Kraang!'," Amoly said while pretending to be a robot.
"The Kraang." Leo said with a serious expression.
"You know these guys?" Olivier asked as she and her sisters and friend were surprised by this.
"A little well, actually." Donnie said. "And they're not really men, they're actually alien robots from another dimension,"
"With brains in their chests!" Mikey added.
"Let it go, man." Raph said tiredly.
"So basically, we were chased by inter-dimensional extra-terrestrials withheld in cybernetic exoskeletons?" Talena asked in wonder. "Fascinating."
"Actually, the Kraang's robotic shells are run by a cranial neural network directed to the central neural cortexes of the Kraang's brain physical structure," Donnie explained, "Therefore all commands are sent and received throughout their robotic forms via…"
"Artifical Neuro-Transmission Interface!" Donnie and Talena finished at the same with bright smiles before Talena gave a slightly embarrassed smile and blush.
The two turtle groups looked at the brainiacs with weird expressions as Raph groaned. "Great, now there's two of them." He muttered.
"You said it." Jennika grumbled.
Venus then approached, "Maybe we should take this somewhere a little more private," She suggested, "Your lair sound good?"
"Sounds good, we'll give you a much warmer welcome," Leo told her, only for Raph to step in.
"Hold on Leo. So maybe these guys aren't friends of the Kraang and aren't Shredder's goons," Raph started, "But I can think of a million other reasons why it's a bad idea to take them back to the lair, starting with Splinter,"
"Who?" Amoly asked in confusion.
"He's our father and sensei. He trained us when we were young." Leo said before turning to Raph. "But if Olivier and his team know something about the Kraang then we need to know too, I'll deal with…"
"Master Splinter," Leo said nervously as they all went back to the lair while Splinter glared down at them while looking at the six turtles who were amazed at the appearance of the rat. "Let me explain."
"Indeed. Please explain the reason you have brought complete strangers into our secret, hidden lair." Splinter said firmly with a glare at the six turtles who shrank back nervously.
Leo, Raph, Donnie and Mikey smiled nervously, "Oh, y-you'll laugh your whiskers off when you hear this one!" Leo chuckled as his brothers chuckled too.
"It's pretty good," Mikey commented before Splinter slammed his cane down causing them to stiffen.
"Wow, and I thought our father was a stiff," Amoly commented in worry.
Olivier then stepped up to Master Splinter and kneeled down, "Great Splinter, I beg your forgiveness for me and my siblings trespassing on your home, but I promise you, we mean you no harm," He explained.
Splinter hummed and lowered himself down to Olivier's eye level and looked him in the eye. The Green Turtle felt the Rat's studying gaze upon him before Splinter smiled and nodded, "I believe, Young Olivier," He said as Olivier smiled back.
Leo kneeled next to his father, "Is this another advanced ninja skill, sensei? To see the truth just by looking someone in the eye?" He asked in wonder.
"Yes, and No," Splinter answered.
"I hate it when he does that," Raph muttered in annoyance.
"While I can see the truth in his eyes, this is a technique called 'Trusting Your Gut'," Splinter said humorlessly. The turtles blinked in surprise that such a wise master could have such a sense of humor, before Splinter gestured to the Dojo, "Come, I believe we have stories to exchange," He said before walking away.
"Hai, Sensei," The ten answered while bowing and following after Splinter.
Inside Splinter's Dojo, the ten turtles sat on their knees while the six new turtles looked at the tree behind Splinter in awe. "I must say, this is an interesting dojo here." Venus said in awe.
"Thank you. I have treated this place well." Splinter said with a smile, "Now, I am sure you are wondering how my sons and I came to be?"
"That is definitely one of our many questions, yes," Amoly answered with a smile.
Splinter then sighed as he recalled his tale, "Many years ago, I was once a human known as Hamato Yoshi of the Hamato Clan in Japan,"
"Wait, did he say, Hamato?" Olivier asked as she and her sisters were shocked by what Master Splinter just said.
"I had a loving wife named Tang Shen, and a beautiful daughter, Miwa," Splinter went on before frowning, "But all that was taken from me by one whom I once called my Brother, Oruku Saki, The Shredder. When jealousy over my wife consumed Saki he sought to finish me, only to strike down my beloved Tang Shen and in his rage, Shredder burned our home to ground, leaving me to perish and in that smoke, I lost little Miwa as well," He explained while bowing his head, while withholding some other information he learned recently.
The six turtles looked in shock while the four male turtles looked down solemnly, having heard this tale many times, but still sad to hear. "Whoa," Jenny breathed out in shock.
"That is the saddest story I ever heard!" Amoly cried while shooting out waterfalls from her eyes.
"Trust us, it's sad every time." Mikey said sadly while wiping his tears away.
Maolier looked to Splinter apologetically, "We are so sorry," She said.
"I can imagine how you lived through that," Olivier added with a solemn frown.
"It was tragic, but I managed to make amends with a new life," Splinter said with a smile. "You see, sixteen years ago, when I moved to New York on behalf of the final wishes of Shen, I left a pet store and adopted four baby turtles…" he explained.
"That was us!" Mikey called while gesturing to himself and his brothers.
"Yes, Michelangelo. Don't interrupt." Splinter said firmly as Mikey kept quiet. "On my path back home, I passed a strange man on the street. Something felt off about him. So I followed." He continued as the others listened. "I saw that a deal was being made between the man and another perfectly identical man, but I was discovered when I accidentally stepped on a rat, the men tried attempted to take my life to keep what had happened secret, I fought back in defense, but during the struggle, a substance the men were carrying, known as mutagen spilled over me and my turtles, changing us forever." He said as he gestured to himself and his sons. "Turning them to become more human-like in nature while became the last creature I came in contact with,"
"A rat," Venus answered as they listened in awe.
"Yes, after our transformation, I spent many nights traveling the city at night before finding this secret underground sanctuary where I would raise my new sons and train them in the ways of Ninjitsu," Splinter finished, gesturing to the four turtles, "And overtime, we have battled back the men responsible for mutation, who you know as the Kraang, along with the forces of the Shredder, The Foot Clan."
"Wow, you guys have seen action, that's for sure," Jennika said in surprise.
"Trust us Goldie Mask, we have." Raph snarked, "So what's your story?"
"Yeah, it must be tough being six of the only ten Ninja Turtles in the world while being chased by robot brain blobs," Mikey told them.
The six turtles looked at each other before grinning, "Well firstly, Maolier isn't a Ninja, she's Samurai in training," Talena told Mikey, "And secondly, we are not the only Mutant Turtles in this world," She said.
"Say what?!" The four brothers said in surprise while Splinter raised a brow.
"Oh yeah, there's a whole bunch of us," Amoly said with a smile. "We were originally outside the borders, doing our daily run through the forest when the Kraang showed up and…""
"Whoa, whoa, whoa! Back up, back up!" Donnie said holding up his hands, "Are you saying, there are other Mutant Turtles where you come from?!"
"Well, yeah." Olivier nodded. "Why? Don't you four know about the Shell Clan?"
"Um, no. Because we literally thought we were the only Mutant Turtles in this world!" Raph exclaimed in shock.
"How many turtles are there exactly?" Leo asked them.
"Hundreds," Maolier answered as they turned to her, "A whole island full,"
The four turtles looked in shock as Mikey then fainted to the floor while Donnie's jaw slacked opened. "You… You gotta be pulling my bowstaff." He said.
"Perhaps it would be best if you start from the beginning," Sprinter told the six.
"Well, okay." Olivier said as she took a breath. "For as long as we can remember, the Shell Clan is a tribe of turtles that trained in the ways of Ninjistu. But we didn't always start out that way. Generations ago, the founders of our tribe were once human that survived under another clan: The Hamato Clan."
The others were surprised by this while Splinter gave a small joyful smile. "So, some of my clan have managed to survive its destruction?" He asked.
"Well, yeah but only because they sought a means to escape the feud with the Foot. Unfortunately they were transformed into Turtle-like beings and abandoned on a hidden island far from the coast of Japan." Olivier continued the story, "Though trapped, our ancestors turned their prison into a new home, and when other people came seeking a new life, they chosen to become what we are now, and with every generation the knowledge and wisdom of ninjutsu was passed on from parent to children and eventually the survivors of the Hamato Clan became, the Shell Tribe." He finished.
The four turtles and Splinter took every words Olivier just said while Splinter stroke his beard while humming. "I am relieved to hear my clan has begun anew despite the hardships they had endured to reach this point." He said with a smile, "And I take it you six are the new generation of the Shell Tribe,"
"Well, yeah. We were training one day, but then, a portal opened up. Which we now know it's the Kraang. And then next thing we knew, the Kraang captured us and tried to use us as guinea pigs," Venus explained to them.
"Aw, guinea pigs are so cute," Mikey commented.
"I told you not to be stupid, you moron." Raph said as he flicked Mikey on the head.
"Ow." Mikey cried from the flick.
"But fortunately, they didn't account for our warrior skills and we managed to escape through a portal that brought us here." Maolier continued before frowning, "But now, we have no means of returning to our island,"
"Which is miles away from here." Jennika added with a frown. "Guess we should've asked for directions instead of running like crazy." She muttered with her arms folded.
"Our dad must be having the tribe tearing the jungle apart searching for us." Amoly said in great concern.
"You make it sound like your dad's pretty important," Donnie commented.
"Well he is the Leader of the entire Tribe," Olivier answered casually.
"Okay, so he really is." Leo said in surprise. "Well, we may not know how to send you all home, but you're welcome to stay with us for the time being."
The six looked at each other as the girls smiled and nodded as Olivier returned the gesture before turning to Leo, "That's very kind of Leo," He said graciously.
"Hey, and while your here, you can help us with our big mutagen scavenger hunt!" Mikey said eagerly.
The six blinked in surprise, "You're what?" Jennika asked with a brow.
"Uh, long story." Donnie said sheepishly. "You see, a few days ago we encountered a Kraang Stealth Ship that was delivering mutagen to the Shredder, but when we tried to stop it, we kinda, sorta accidentally spilled canisters of mutagen all over the city. So it can either be in one piece, or someone found them or got hit by them which then resulted in mutation." He said nervously.
The six looked at them in shock by what they just learned. "So, there could or could not be mutants roaming around New York with extra mutagen all over the city?" Talena asked in shock. "How many canisters did you even manage to get so far exactly?"
"Only one…half full." Mikey answered.
The six gave dull looks. "Well, we're doomed," Jennika muttered before Venus elbowed her.
"Well, we'd be glad to help recover the rest of these mutagen canisters," Venus said with a small smile.
"Great. And uh, sorry about chasing and fighting you earlier." Leo said with a sheepish look. "We kinda lost our first human friend from an incident and well, we're still a little on edge." He said to them.
"Really? You were friends with a human?" Amoly asked with an excited smile. "Who was she?! What happened?! Tell me!" She demanded before she was slapped on the head by Jennika.
"They said they lost their friend, sprinklebrain. So don't even bring up old wounds." Jennika firmly said.
"Oh, right. Sorry." Amoly apologized while rubbing her arm.
"Don't worry about it." Donnie said before giving a wistful look, "Let's just say, she was the most beautiful girl I ever saw," He said as Talena gave a weird look.
"She was also the only girl he ever saw." Raph corrected boredly as Donnie glared at him and the five girl turtles giggled at that.
The Six Shell Tribe Turtles then stood up, "Well, team, looks like we got Mutagen to find," Olivier said as the four New York Turtles stood up too.
"That's right, so it's time for us ten turtles to come together," Leo said as he looked to the new team, "So are we ready to do this?"
"We most certainly are," Venus said with a smile. "If we're gonna be here for a while, the least we can do is help out." She said as the other five nodded.
Leo, Raph, and Donnie nodded back before Mikey popped out of nowhere, "Alright but if this gonna work, we're gonna give you nicknames, lucky for you I'm a genius at naming people," Mikey said to the six before pointing to them respectively, "We'll call you, Vee, Jenny, Tal, Ames, Olly and, well can't think of something that sounds like Maolier, so we'll just call you Naomi." He declared.
The six were surprised by those names as they turned to each other before shrugging, "You know, that seems fair." Olly said with a shrug.
"I can get behind that," Jenny added.
"I like it!" Ames cheered.
"Sounds good," Naomi said.
"Very fitting," Tal added.
"Then we agree," Vee said with a smile. "Now that, shall we go and collect some mutagen?"
"Yeah," They all declared as Splinter smiled at them.
Mikey then brought his hand in, "Aw yeah, time for a group Booyakasha, dudes!" He cheered.
"'Booyakasha'?" Tal asked with a brow, "What does that even mean?"
"Don't know. But it's fun to yell." Mikey said with a smile. "Now come on ya'll, join in!" He said as one by one the turtles brought their hands in, "Okay, on three. One, Two, Three…"
"Booyakasha!" All ten Turtles declared with their fists up.
"Wow, you're right," Jenny said with a grin, "That is fun to yell!"
"Alright team, let's move," Leo said as they all rushed out the dojo as Splinter watched on with a smile.
"Such a great evolution my clan have evolved." Splinter said to himself. "Perhaps it was fate that brought them together, and where fate will lead them, only time will tell. Wouldn't you agree, Shen?" He asked while looking at the picture of him and his wife together as he gave a smile.
