Oleander found himself in Professor Banner's office, and in front of him was the headmaster of the Slifer Reds himself, who was holding his notebook carefully, reading its contents with a content smile on his face.
"Well, that is certainly one way to put a spin on duels" He settled the notebook down before pouring some tea on a traditional japanese cup "Tea?"
"No, thanks" The heterochromatic duelist shook his head before leaning on the table. "But what do you think of that?" There was excitement audible in the young duelist's voice as the headmaster gave the notebook a quick glance.
"I think this will be a fantastic idea" he clasped his hands together "I shall forward this idea to the chancellor" he closed the notebook and placed it under his desk
Oleander then got up from his seat, bowed to the professor, and left his office. Once alone, the smile on Banner's face dropped as he reclined on his chair, feeling relieved as if a ton of bricks had been lifted from his shoulders, and that feeling—that pressure—started as soon as Oleander set foot into his office.
He reached for his drawer and pulled a burner phone, quickly dialing the only number saved on its contact list, all the while looking out of his window and at the main building in the distance. His now-red eyes then shifted to the phone as he heard a voice on the other side.
"Superintendent Kagemaru" The professor spoke in a ominous tone of voice "I have something that needs to be brought to your attention" he narrowed his eyes after saying that last part
[Oleander's Room]
As soon as the door closed behind him, he snatched his duel disk and summoned only two monsters, Odd-Eyes Dragon and Starving Venom Fusion Dragon. Both dragons looked left and right before shifting their attention to Oleander. Odd-Eyes in particular lunged at him and started to lick his face.
"Starving Venom…!" Oleander said while struggling to breath under the weight of the massive dragon "A little help?"
The purple dragon extended one of his snake-like tendrils and wrapped around Odd-Eyes, lifting the dragon from Oleander, who once had gotten up and dusted himself, gave the purple dragon a thumbs up.
"Odd-Eyes, my dude," he said, crossing his arms and looking at the heterochromatic dragon straight in the eyes. "While I am very happy to see you too, you gotta be careful; you nearly crushed me." He gave the dragon a gentle stroke on the head while motioning Starving Venom to place him back on the ground.
"But good news! My idea will be accepted!" He threw himself at his dragons, wrapped them in a hug, and started to jump up and down. While Odd-Eyes was more than happy to return the enthusiasm, the same couldn't be said for Starving Venom.
Once he had peeled himself from the two Heavenly Dragons, he removed their cards from his duel disk and waved at them as they disappeared amidst wisps of red and violet energy. He placed his hands on his hips and smacked his lips. Now what?
He pulled his PDA and sent a message to Sadie, asking if she wanted to hang out in his room, though that raised a question: Should he reveal that he knows she was the one to place the Tenderness card in his door? He pondered the question as he sent her an email.
He figured that it was way too early to do something like that; he'd do that when he reached the Obelisk Blue dorm. That way, if they do start dating, Sadie would avoid the more than likely bully that would come her way for dating a "Slifer Slacker."
Making up his mind, he stuffed the PDA back in his jacket and sat on his chair, opening the computer's browser. He decided to play some chezz to pass the time.
[Obelisk Blue Dorm - Chazz's Room]
Chazz was pacing back and forth trying to coax his brain to come up with any solution to get Light And Darkness Dragon from that slacker with purple hair, just thinking about it made his blood boil.
It made no sense; how the hell did he know the exact spot where to find the card? When he buried the card, he made sure no one was following him! But apparently he didn't try hard enough because a Slifer rat of all people now had his card.
Groaning he ran his hands through his face as he slumped down on the couch, he looked out of the window and towards the Slifer Rats dorm and couldn't help but recall something that slacker told him
"Some idiot who didn't know its value probably threw it away"
Those words echoed in his mind ever since that day. While he wanted to come up with a comeback deep down, he was right—maybe this whole thing was Light and Darkness Dragon punishing him for abandoning it?
Shaking his head, he banished those toughs from his mind because, on the here and now he needed to find a way to recover his dragon and teach that sludge a lesson, he started to chew the tip of his finger.
He could sneak inside his room and get his dragon back, and maybe trash that slacker's deck just to throw salt in the wound. Yeah, he'd get what is rightfully his and show that slacker not to mess with an Obelisk Blue elite.
He smirked as he looked out of the window, all he needed to do was wait a few hours then he would put his plan into action, now more relaxed Chazz picked the remote controller and decided to watch some TV.
[ Outskirts of the Slifer Red dorm - Nighttime]
Chazz found himself hidden amongst some bushes. Instead of wearing his usual Obelisk blue coat, he was wearing a black hoodie, and in his hands were a pair of binoculars that were currently being used to scan the area to make sure no one was around, and to his utter delight, no slackers were in sight.
Stuffing the binoculars in his pockets, he crept his way towards the dorm, stopping every few meters to hide, but after some more agonizing minutes, he finally arrived at the stairs.
Each step he took made the metal beneath his feet groan, and every time it happened, it caused his heart to stop for a split second before taking another step. This process repeated itself from the bottom all the way to the last step.
Thankfully, the wooden platform didn't groan as loudly, so things were way easier for him. He carefully analyzed the rooms until he arrived at the slacker's room. He glanced at the window and saw no one in the room.
He placed his hand on the doorknob and gave it a twist. It looks like the slacker didn't even bother to lock his own room. Smirking, he opened the door, and once inside, he carefully closed it. Pulling his PDA and turning the flashlight function on, he slowly started to scan the room, and it didn't take long to find what he was looking for—the slacker's deck.
He went over the cards and didn't find Light And Darkness Dragon, just some crappy Dragon-Type cards, he considered taking a few of them for him but decided against it, afterall he had a better idea on what to do with the sorry excuse for a deck he was holding.
He stuffed the stack of cards in the pocket of his hoodie and made his way out of the room, and once he had arrived at the bottom of the stairs after another agonizing game of red light, green light, he scanned his surroundings to make sure no one was around, and once he was sure the coast was clear, he made his way down to the pier to dispose of the trash.
Sadly, he didn't do a good job of spotting the purple-haired duelist who was hiding nearby and now was quietly stalking the snob. Oleander had to give it to him; it was a good plan, wearing black clothes and doing it all in the middle of the night. Unfortunately for Chazzie, the heterochromatic duelist was always three steps ahead.
[At the pier]
Chazz was standing at the edge of the pier. The wind was unnaturally strong, which caused his hoodie to slip away from his head, causing his hair to spike up to its usual shape. Digging his hands into his pockets, he pulled the slacker's deck. Smirking, he extended his arms and simply opened his hand, watching with delight as the cards flew in the water below.
His victory was short-lived when he heard the sound of clapping coming from behind him. He quickly turned around and found himself face-to-face with Oleander, who was the one clapping his hands while a sinister smile was plastered on his face.
"Well, that was certainly something." He leaned against the lighthouse unbothered by the fact that apparently his deck just got thrown in the sea.
"Well, too late now; your deck is-" However, he didn't get to finish his gloating after seeing Oleander pull another deck and wave it around. "W-what?" His eyes went wide.
"Didn't you think it was convenient that my door was unlocked" He stuffed the deck back in his deckholster before he lazily turned his gaze to the cards floating in the water. "And even more convenient that my deck was sitting out in the open?" He shifted his eyes to Chazz while cooking an eyebrow.
Chazz was taken aback, his mouth hanging wide open and his eyes wide all the while he was shaking from head to toe. Even in the darkness of the pier, Oleander could tell that he was pale as a ghost.
"H-how the hell?" The words stuttered their way out of his mouth as the realization that he was caught red-handed doing something that not only would get him expelled but blacklisted from any tournament dawned on him. "How did you?"
"You are predictable." Oleander stated, almost sounding bored, as he stuffed his hands in his jacket's pockets while looking at the horizon. "I had a nagging feeling you'd pull something like that, so I simply took some precautions." He let out a little chuckle.
There was an extended period of silence between the two youngsters, the only sound was that of the strong breeze coming from the ocean, after a while Chazz simply lowered his head and quietly made his way out of the pier, Oleander made no attempts to try and stop him.
Once alone, Oleander turned his attention to the horizon and decided to take in the pier's atmosphere alongside the afterglow of his victory, and to say that he was feeling on top of the world would be one hell of an understatement.
But he got interrupted when he felt a shock running through his body; it caught him so off guard that he ended up falling to his knees. He recognized that as the same feeling when Odd-Eyes was approaching, albeit a lot more intense, which could only mean one thing: another Heavenly Dragon was making their way to Central Academy.
Though that begged the question, would they be in a similar state to that of Odd-Eyes, where it's a lesser form, or would they actually be the real deal, and if by some chance the two remaining dragons end up being the real deal, how would it work?
He was sure that neither the Overlay Network nor tuner monsters existed, and while he could use something like Waking The Dragon, it would be incredibly inconsistent, not to mention the fact that Dark Rebellion XYZ Dragon would have no effect since it wouldn't have any Overlay Units.
Taking a deep breath and running his hand through his hair, Oleander calmed himself down. Whatever dragon was approaching hadn't arrived yet, so that's a problem to worry about when the aforementioned Heavenly Dragon arrived, so without anything else to do, he made his way back to his dorm room.
[?]
Superintendent Kagemaru was holding in his hands some files; said files were encased in a protective plastic sleeve that was thoroughly sterilized. His old eyes carefully analyzed the information written on the papers, or rather lack thereof.
Oleander Hemlock was a blank slate in every sense of the word; there was no information on who the boy's parents were and no duel records prior to his arrival at Central Academy. It's almost as if the boy appeared out of thin air.
However, another thing that caught the old man's attention was his deck. In all his years, he never heard of a deck as powerful as the Predaplants. Those cards were like their owners; they didn't appear in any database. While he briefly considered that the cards could be fake, he quickly dismissed that idea. Kaiba Corp.'s security is far too advanced and would've no doubt triggered some sort of security mechanism.
Flipping the document over, he was now faced with various photographs of the purple-haired youngest working at the card shop. They appeared normal at first glance, but upon closer inspection some distortions were visible. It could be chalked up to a mere bug, yet they appeared far too frequently. Not only that, it was always the same two distortions. Two vaguely humanoid figures stood behind the boy; one wielding some kind of staff while the other carried a sword.
Stroking his long white beard, the old man settled the documents on a table and started to process all the information that was handed to him. The boy could spell trouble for his plans.
However, he suddenly stopped when he felt a roaring pain flaring up in his old heart. He had mere moments to slam his fist into the emergency button before he fell to the ground. Seconds later, a team of medics rushed inside the room and wasted no time before rushing him to an emergency room.
[Author's Notes]
Hey there, folks! It's ya boy! Mac!
And it seems like Chazzie learned in the worst way possible that Oleander is always a step ahead of everyone.
Speaking of Oleander, yet another dragon is making its way to Central Academy; can y'all guess which one will get to our purple-haired rapscallion first?
And it seems like Kagemaru is starting to look more into Oleander…I wonder what will come out of this. Oh well, I'm sure nothing bad will happen!
