Tower buddies: chapter 13: marcy in the carcy
Ever since marcy had landed in the middle of a woods, she had been on a bit of a trek.
She had figured out where she was, and turns out she was in some random "amygdala woods". She had made another potion and left a note, teleporting to…
"No way. A FACTORY?"
She couldn't believe it! This world was supposedly in a feudal era, unless there was some ancient civilisation. She couldn't find a way out, and it was comfortable so she set up a hammock and lay down while tinkering with scraps she found lying around. These would be amazing for new inventions!
By 11:00 in the night, she had already invented a navigation system. For some reason she found a file in one of the broken motherboards displaying a map of amphibia, and inputted it.She also managed to make a machine to emulate all her 3DS games (the DS itself had broken ages ago).
She left a note there telling anybody who came across it what had happened, and tried the door one last time. This time, however, the door glowed with green runes and opened to a cool night breeze. She looked around, and gathered that she still wasn't that far from the valley. She took the last remaining swig and left.
She stood up in a cave… a cave full of minerals!
"Oh, wow!" She admired the beauty. Glowing colourful crystals, and metals of all types. She quickly took out a comical-looking pickaxe and started taking samples and experimenting.
She looked at a curious red crystal. From analysis, this gem seemed to enhance vision when looking through it. Almost like a night-vision glass. She cut some lenses and made a pair of goggles, using some leftover wuber (name STILL in progress) and some metal she had found with a low boiling point when raw but high when refined. She styled them into some aviator goggles with red lenses.
"Hmmmm…" she looked at a yellow crystal. It seemed to be… glowy. She got some copper wire and a bulb and made a simple circuit. It seemed to work as a battery! "Electricity, baby!" She whooped.
Over the next few hours, she discovered different crystals with useful properties, such as a green one that when powered creates constructs of green energy (she had already began a design for a lightsaber) an orange one that worked as coal but lasted for approximately 9 years (according to her calculations), and a few others. She had also found a curious metal not that different to bronze, but tougher than steel and light at the same time.
"Hmmm," she thought to herself, lying on her hammock in the night, "i wonder what i could use all these for-"
And then it clicked.
"Ah," she smiled, and the smile only grew. "Hahah. HahahaHAHAHAHAHAHAHAHAHAHA!"
————————————
As soon as she woke up again, she got to work. She constructed a simple engine powered by her new orange crystal growths, and worked on welding some of this metal. She transmuted some rubber and made 4 tyres, and carved some wheels and cogs. She made some hinges and took apart some old machines to make some wiring. Gee, these new parts from that factory were amazing! As a matter of fact they seemed to be made of the same bronzish metal. After finishing the frame, all she needed left was a paint job, and she just crushed some minerals to make a red paint.
After a full day, she sat back to admire her work.
A full blown car.
"Time for the first road trip in amphibia history!" She said confidently.
———————————————
"Whoah, what is that thing?"
"It looks like a metal snail!"
As marcy drove up to the town of stony gulch, she made an effort to be as badass as possible.
"Hello, citizens-whoops!"
Of course, she fell out as she tried to leave the car.
One frog stared at her. "Hey, what was that metal thing?"
And marcy smiled. "That, my good man, is a car! And you're looking at the future of reliable travel!"
Most frogs were skeptical… except-
"Hey! Weird lookin' lady!"
Marcy looked into the audience just in time to see an orange frog with an eyepatch surface.
A blue frog rolled her eyes. "Oh, great. Mr. Ponds. Everybody leave the creeps to themselves!"
And the crowd dispersed.
"So, kiddo, i saw that machine of yours. Mighty impressive! How about you follow me to my shack and we can discuss business?"
"I don't see anything suspicious here!"
————————————
"Welcome," said mr. Ponds, "to the curiosity hut!"
Marcy hummed in approval. "Loving the vibes here! Something familiar about it, too, but i can't put my finger on it…" she put a finger on her chin. "Eh, probably nothing," she smiled again. "So, what did you want to discuss?"
"Well, just step on this specific part of the stage!"
And as marcy stood directly on the red X, a device lowered on her and began pumping wax.
"Welp, should've seen this coming with the wax statues!"
As she was about to take out a vacuum grenade to get herself out, a pair of kids came waltzing in. They then noticed marcy.
"What the heck are you?" Said the one with a hat, proceeding to roll his eyes. "Stan, stop trying to capture every single funny looking person you find. This one clearly seems intelligent."
"Thank you!" Marcy said proudly. "Although i was just gonna break myself out." She gestured to the curse.
The sweater wearing one of the duo squealed, and pushed the other out of the way. "Oh my frog! Are you a wicked witch?" And her eyes shone. "Will you turn me into a pony?" And her eyes glazed over for a second in wonder. "What the frog is a pony?" Asked Mr. ponds from the corner of the stage.
"Anyway," said the cap-wearing one, "my name's snipper, and that's frabel. We're living with our weird uncle, Stankley Ponds. And you are?"
"Marcy wu!" Said marcy proudly. "And i'm a human being from another world!"
Snipper immediately took out some kind of journal. "Amazing! Stan, just release her," he said, jotting down some notes.
As stan begrudgingly released her, she gasped. "You keep a journal too?"
"Yup. But this one used to belong to someone else exploring the deep mysteries of amphibia. This is apparently the third one!"
In the corner, Stankley sweated nervously. Nobody noticed. He decided to pipe up. "Sooo, if you're not gonna be my permanent exhibit, how about you give over some fancy invention of yours and i can pay ya some good old fashioned coppers?"
————————————
As marcy sat there, creating a lightsaber for Mr. Ponds to show off in some exhibit, dipper sat there helping her.
"So, what's it like in your world? Is everybody as good at science as you?"
"You flatter me," chuckled marcy, "but no. Y'know, annoyingly enough, some people find science boring, and some others make annoying stories that talk about science that doesn't exist."
"Wow, that must suck."
"Yeah, but then again, i'm in another dimension making a laser sword, so…"
"Can i come with you?"
Marcy was taken aback. "What?"
"Can i come with you to newtopia?"
Marcy thought about it. "Well, if your uncle says yes, I don't see why not."
————————————
"Hey, grunkle stank?"
"Yeah, kiddo?"
"Can i go with marcy to newtopia?"
"…sure. It'll get ya out of the way."
"What?"
"Nothing!"
Snipper ran back to marcy. "He said yes!"
"Oh, that's great! Here, wear this cloak and i'll give ya this blaster too. If we're going to newtopia, we gotta be discreet. I already nearly got frozen in wax by your crazy uncle."
"I get that, but what's that thing on your hand?"
She looked at her left arm. "Oh, this? It's an electromagnet that allows me to lock on to anything in a 20 metre range. In short, it allows me to do this!"
And she picked up a mug which floated.
"This kind of technology was impossible even on my planet, but you guys have such cool natural resources with awesome properties!"
————————————
As they drove away in the car, snipper asked, "your work is awesome and all, but why the whole space wizard vibe?"
She chuckled. "Oh, dude, this is only the first suit. You see, i'm planning to find my friends in my own unique way. With the power of DROPPING REFERENCES!"
Hey!
Sorry if this took longer than usual, i am NOT good at writing even slightly filler episodes, which is why i started my other fanfic, the ballad of newt and owl.
This, however, is still my main fanfic and i'm gonna keep chugging on. A few more chapters and we're in newtopia :)
...then it gets interesting.
Cya!
