GT: Day 30! One day left after this!
"Oh my achin' feet…" Nemona whined, staggering up the last few steps.
"You need a moment?" Roll asked, not even looking winded.
"Wh-Why are…you not…even sweatin'...?"
Roll shrugged, "I do a lot more extracurricular activities than this, so this was just the equivalent of a morning jog for me." 'Seriously, even Virus Busting Mettaur are more of a workout than these stairs…'
She helped Nemona over to a stone bench to let her catch her breath. As the native did that, Roll looked around at the vast open space outside of the castle-like school. Students as young as six and as old as their thirties were lightly scattered about. Two of the younger students were playing around with a Yungoos and a tiny bird-like Pokemon that was mostly blue and yellow with bits of black. Snoozing by one of the older students was a strange hound-like Pokemon that was covered in purplish-gray fur that hid all but its muzzle and feet…which were stripped down to just their bones. It even had a tiny tombstone growing out of the top of its head.
'Ohh…I hope Mega isn't trapped with one of those around,' Roll thought with a grimace as she remembered Megaman was terrified of ghosts, 'Mega…' She brought a hand to her heart as it felt like it had been squeezed, 'Is this what Maylu felt when Lan had her go with the others out of the apartment complex? O-Or when Lan went off with the boys and that Tora guy while making her and Yai stay?' a pit formed in her gut, '...Could I have changed anything to save him? T-To stop all this from happening?'
"Roll?"
"!" Roll opened her eyes (when had she even closed them?) and looked to see Nemona looking at her, concern in her eyes.
"What's wrong?" Nemona asked, "Too moved by how the place looks?"
"I…" Roll began before wiping her eyes of the tears that had begun to fall, "It's nothing you should be concerned with, Nemona. Just something personal."
Nemona frowned as she thought for a moment and slowly nodded, "Right…" she smiled at her, "Well then…" she swung her hand out to the building, "Here we are, Roll! Welcome to Uva Academy!" she led her inside into a massive entrance hall with several dozen bookshelves at the sides, two massive stairways leading upwards, and an office between them, "This here's the entrance hall!" she ran up to the desk and turned to Roll as she followed after Nemona, "You can sign up for all kinds of classes at the desk behind me, and those halls off to the sides lead to all different parts of the school."
"It's really big for just an entrance hall," Roll observed, comparing it to ACDC Elementary as her only frame of reference.
"It's totally big enough to let loose and battle in here, but for some reason, they banned Pokémon battling in the main entrance..." Nemona noted with a pout.
"Miss Roll. Miss Nemona," a familiar voice spoke up, causing them to turn to see Clavell approach them before stopping and placing his hands behind his back, "How did you find your first school commute?"
"It was…" Roll took a moment to think on it all, "Quite exciting, really. I've learned a lot from it."
"I imagine Miss Nemona's high spirits helped with that. She's a true asset to our fine academy," Clavell chuckled, adjusting his glasses. Not that I was expecting any less from our Champion-ranked student council president. Reliable as ever, Miss Nemona."
"Well, I know how to look after my friends! Right, Roll?" Nemona grinned.
"Right!" Roll agreed with a smile.
"Oh! But speaking of which...we saw some of those Team Star kids in town, Director!" Nemona warned, looking at the man.
"You did?! Where?!" Clavell asked in concern.
"It was down the stairs from the front gates. They were hassling this kid with an Eevee backpack..."
"That is quite the news. Are they still to be found out there?"
"Actually, Roll flexed on 'em and ran 'em off," Nemona explained.
"It wasn't that hard, especially since Nemona came and gave me a Tera Orb," Roll added.
"You don't say..." Clavell noted, frowning a little, "Of course it's a fine thing to try to help a fellow student, Miss Roll... But you might wish to show a bit of restraint as you find your feet here at our academy."
"Yes, sir," Roll replied, sheepishly rubbing the back of her head.
"And, Miss Nemona, do remember that the school's staff is here to resolve any such troubles."
"Uh... Right! Yes sir, Director!"
"Um…Do you know the student who was harassed by any chance, sir?" Roll asked.
"...A child with an Eevee backpack, you say... I suppose that might have been Miss Penny. I'm relieved to hear she's come to class, at least."
"Penny? She has a nice name," Roll noted.
"Indeed. Ah, and Miss Nemona? If you'd be so good, do report to Mr. Jacq about this Team Star business. As your homeroom teacher, he should be kept apprised of all such goings-on."
"You got it, sir!" Nemona replied with a thumbs up.
"Ah, but look at the time. You two had better hurry along—classes will be starting soon," Clavell advised.
"Classes? Already?" Roll asked in surprise as Clavell walked away.
"We're in class 1-A, Roll! C'mon, I'll show you the way!" Nemona beamed, grabbing the busty blonde's wrist and ran off up the stairs.
"Okay, you stay out here," Nemona advised as they stood in front of a classroom, a stone sign reading '1-A' hung above the door, "When it's time, Mr. Jacq will call ya in, okay?"
"Right," Roll nodded before Nemona entered the classroom, "..." she let Tango back out, giving him a hug, "I'm a bit nervous about this, Tango. I've seen classes and participated in only one part of the curriculum…but that's from where I'm from."
"Good morning, Mr. Jacq!" came the shouts of students inside.
"Hello, hello, everyone!" a warm, friendly voice greeted, "We have some exciting news this morning. Who wants to hear it?"
"Oooh oooh! Me!"
"I wanna hear it!"
"Please tell us, Mr. Jacq!"
"I suppose I should have told you sooner, but we have a new little friend joining our happy homeroom as of today," Mr. Jacq was heard, "All right! You can come on in!"
"Well…here we go," Roll noted as she opened the door and walked inside, seeing a class full of kids with the teacher being a slender man with wild black and silver/white hair in hexagonal black glasses.
"Sis?!"
"!? 'M…Maylu?' Roll thought as she looked at the speaker, revealing a girl that was her age that looked like her NetOp at an older age with her hair much longer, probably reaching past her knees in length if she stood up…which she did, revealing she wore the same uniform Roll was in, down to the modifications for her figure, 'Hah?! Is this her if she were older!? …If what I stumbled on once when I was coming to wake up Lan is right…he'd be fully attentive of her if this is how Maylu looks like when she's this age.'
"Ah, so that's why your last name was familiar," the teacher noted, "You're related to our new student, Maylu?"
"Yes. She's my twin sister, Roll Naturia Sakurai," Maylu confirmed.
'WHAT?! MEW, WHAT DID YOU DO?!' Roll thought in a panic before squeaking as the red-haired girl gave her a hug.
"Sp?!" Tango muffled out due to a lack of oxygen.
"Um…Ms. Sakurai, would you please let Ms. Sakurai go so we can continue introductions?" Jacq asked.
"O-Oh…sorry, sir," Maylu sheepishly apologized, releasing Roll from the hug while keeping a hand in hers, "I just haven't seen her in several months now, so I couldn't stop myself."
Jacq chuckled, "I forget your family has always been a more feeling kind of family. But please, get back to your seat."
"R-Right away, Mr. Jacq," Maylu sheepishly rubbed the back of her head before, reluctantly, letting go of Roll's hand and went back to her seat…before scowling as she gave Nemona an annoyed look, "Why didn't you say my sister was coming to our school?"
"I…forgot because she's really good at Pokemon Battling," Nemona sheepishly replied.
"Spri…Spri…" Tango panted before squirming out of Roll's arms and settling onto her shoulder, "Tito~"
"Sorry, Tango," Roll sheepishly apologized to her Starter.
"Right…well, does anyone have any questions for Ms. Roll Sakurai here?" Jacq asked.
"Me! I have a question!" Nemona beamed, holding a hand up.
'It's gonna be for another Pokemon Battle, isn't it?' Roll thought.
"You went to all the trouble of enrolling here, so spill, Roll... What do you hope to get out of it? You must have some kind of dream, right?" Nemona questioned.
"Ah…um, well…" Roll began before holding her hands together and rubbed them, "I…I'm…looking for someone and I've gathered that they're here in Paldea."
"!?" Maylu's eyes went wide in shock, 'What the hell? But I went all over Paldea at the last Treasure Hunt and I saw no signs of…' she went pale, 'No…He…He can't be down there…c-can he?'
"Oh? Someone you're looking for? Must be pretty strong and you wanna get strong too, huh?"
"Well…sorta, yeah," Roll replied, a fond smile forming on her lips, "He's stronger in ways no one else can be. He looks out for others first before himself and his compassion is something that only his brother can match…but even then, his is even stronger than his brother's."
"...Any other questions?" Jacq asked after a moment.
"Oh! Me, sir!" another student called, "What's your favorite Pokemon?"
"My favorite? Mmm…" Roll looked at Tango then down to her belt where Netto and Data's balls were, and then to Dexter stored in her left breast pocket, "I…don't have a favorite. Everyone of them so far that I've seen are nothing short of amazing in their own ways."
Maylu giggled, "Oh, I'm not too sure~"
"Huh?" Roll pondered.
"Don't tell me you forgot how much you hate rodent-shaped Pokemon like Pikachu and Ratatta," Maylu adopted a teasing smile, "Something about them making you lose a contest?"
"?!" Roll tensed before growling, her mind thinking to the N1 qualifiers, "Those lousy, stinkin'..."
"Okay, I think that's enough questions for now," Jacq quickly spoke, sweating a little, "I'm Mr. Jacq. I teach biology here at the academy, and I'm also your homeroom teacher." he pointed to the empty seat beside Maylu, "That's your seat. Second row from the front." he smiled at his students, "All right, you ragamuffins. Be nice and friendly to our new classmate!"
"Okay~!" everyone cheered as Roll walked over and sat beside Maylu.
"I'm glad to have you here, Sis," Maylu whispered, holding her hand under the table, "Though…with the stuff going on, I wish it were under happier terms…"
'Stuff going on?' Roll pondered before giving Maylu's hand a reassuring squeeze, "It'll be okay, Maylu."
Maylu nodded before letting her hand go so she could write down notes as Jacq began to lecture. At the same time…Roll was having a mental panic attack.
"C'mon! Let's go! Let's go!" Maylu cheered, pulling Roll along the hallways by her wrist.
'Why is everyone so strong here?!' Roll thought, 'Or is this body weaker than the one I normally have?' she grunted as they went around a corner, "Wh-Where are we going?!"
"The Staff Room of course! We need to get you everything that Nemona probably forgot to get you," Maylu replied, "Then after, we can get lunch. They make the best strawberry milkshakes here! They add in a Pecha Berry to the blend just for an added touch, too!"
"Sounds good," Roll noted, 'I loved strawberry milkshakes in the Network, but now with what I've been missing thanks to the wonderful food here…'
The two entered the Staff Room and Maylu froze while Roll bumped into her. Before Roll could saw anything, she noticed Maylu's focus was on something in there. Following her line of sight, Roll saw Nemona talking with someone. They were tall and slim, wearing a black business suit of sorts that looked rather expensive with bright blue ends on their sleeves and bright blue gloves with a rather intricate white pattern on the backs of them. With their back turned to the girls, all Roll could see was their long black hair with scatterings of gold and silver highlights inside of it.
"Very well, Champion Nemona. I trust you to handle this in my stead."
"Sure thing! You can count on me. In fact, I bet this is gonna be fun!" Nemona beamed, pumping his fists in excitement.
"I'm glad to hear it. Good day, then," the person spoke as they turned around, revealing the person was a woman with the same blue on her sleeves and gloves being her button shirt beneath the coat part of their uniform and sharp blue eyes, before walking towards the door only to pause for a moment on seeing Maylu, "Oh—pardon me. Champion Maylu."
"La Primera," Maylu greeted, Roll raising a brow as she noticed a familiar tone to her voice.
'Why is she sounding like when she listened to Lan and Megaman telling us about why they'd never go back to Ameropa unless we were with them and had gotten to the point of that Princess Pride lady being a traitor for Gospel?' Roll pondered as the woman left, "What was that about?"
"Later," Maylu huffed.
"Oh, Roll, Maylu! Hey!" Nemona beamed as she ran over.
"Who was that?" Roll asked.
"Piqued your interest, huh? That lady is... Well, they call her La Primera! She's strong, she can do pretty much anything, she's got cool practically coming out of her ears... She's basically everything I wanna be—or that any Pokémon Trainer would wanna be, really!" Nemona cheered.
Maylu scoffed, "More like a busybody, bossy woman who overworks her staff, especially one nice person who doesn't deserve the stuff she does." she then muttered under her breath and Roll could barely hear, "Need to go to Medali later and check up on him…"
"Hey…I thought we've been over this, VP," Nemona pouted, "Oh! Which reminds me!" she looked at Roll, "Remember in homeroom when I asked you what your dream is?"
"Yes…?" Roll replied.
"Well, if you're trying to look for someone here, I have a great idea for how you can go around all over Paldea!" she wrapped an arm over Maylu and pulled her into a side hug, "You should try to reach Champion Rank like me and your sis here!"
"Huh?" Roll tilted her head, "Champion Rank?"
"The Trainers who reach Champion Rank are the ones who raise their Pokémon really strong. They're pro-tier battlers. Their moves keep crowds absolutely on the edge of their seats!" Nemona explained.
"Easy there, Nemona," Maylu sighed, managing to push herself out of the side hug, "Champion Ranked Trainers have access to almost every place in Paldea outside of one place known as 'Area Zero.'"
'Access to…That'd be perfect to look for Mega!' Roll thought, "How do I do that?"
"You have to prove yourself to the Pokémon League to officially get the title of Champion. And to do that, you have to do more than just take classes here," Maylu explained.
"You've got to take on eight Pokémon Gyms and win so you can collect their Gym Badges! Once you've done all that, all that's left is a special test—the Champion Assessment. And once you pass that, then at long last you'll be a Champion!" Nemona beamed, clasping her hands together with stars in her eyes, "It's every Pokémon Trainer's dream! The coolest title anyone could ever hope to get! Not to brag or anything!"
"Nemona and I reached Champion Rank during our last Treasure Hunt," Maylu explained.
"Treasure Hunt?"
"Oh, the Treasure Hunt is a special independent study thing we've got here. Should happen soon! Our last one started not long after the beginning of this school year!" Nemona explained, "It's great! You get to leave school to go have an adventure and learn however you want!" she adopted a pondering stance, "I guess you could say my journey to becoming a Champion was the treasure I found...maybe? I dunno yet if that's the answer I'm looking for..." she looked at Roll, "Anyway, I've got a feeling I'd be able to get even stronger if you and I were both working at it..." a RotomPhone popped out of her pants, "Lemme go ahead and save the Gyms' locations in your map app in case you decide to go for it!"
"Huh?" Roll pondered as Dexter came out and the two phones glowed before showing the map on Dexter's screen and showed eight icons pop up on it, "Oh!"
Maylu shook her head as she looked at them, "You forgot to also put a difficulty on them all, Nemona." a pink RotomPhone came out of her cleavage, "Caskette?"
"You got it," the RotomPhone replied before they and Dexter glowed an a star between one through eight appeared under the icons.
"Honestly, I find it dumb that they have to do this when you can go anywhere in Paldea," Maylu huffed, "La Primera and her regulations…I need to go to Cortondo sooner than later to have a match with Ms. Katy later…"
"Give it some thought!" Nemona smiled at Roll before running off, "See ya, Roll! VP!"
"...VP?" Roll repeated.
"I'm the Vice President of the Student Council while she's the President all because I lost to her in a Pokemon Battle," Maylu explained before shaking her head, "Right. Let's go get your card to open your room here in school. I need that milkshake badly now…"
"Because of this La Primera person?" Roll asked.
"Yep."
"Okay, you go find us a place to sit and I'll get us some drinks and something to eat," Maylu ordered as the two entered the cafeteria.
"Gotcha," Roll replied before Maylu went off to the line nearby as Roll started to look around, "Table…table…Hm?" she looked ahead to see Arven's back to her as he was at a buffet, "Hey, aren't you…?"
Arven turned around on hearing her voice and smiled, "Oh, hey! So we meet again. You remember me, right?"
"From the lighthouse, yes," Roll replied.
"Yeah, exactly! That's my little know-it-all buddy! Got a mind like a steel trap, eh?"
"Huh? B-Buddy?" Roll repeated.
"No need to tell me your name. Roll, right? Whole school seems to be talking about you. The new kid who showed up with the president of the student council and twin sister to the student vice-president," Arven noted, "I normally wouldn't even bother showing up for class, but I came all the way to school today just to talk with you—our new celebrity. You've gotta help me out so I can finally make my dream a reality!"
"Huh? Your dream? What is it?" Roll asked.
"Hehehe... Caught your interest, have I? You want to hear all about my dream, right? Well, this might come as a surprise, but fact is, I'm all about that picnic life: the great outdoors, the perfectly prepared sandwiches, all of it," he winked at her, "Not half bad at cooking either, I can tell you. Right now I'm researching new recipes that'll help Pokémon feel better. Real health food, see." he pulled ou a violet-colored book and opened it up, "I found this book the other day, and it had a section about these Herba Mystica things..."
"Herba Mystica?" Roll repeated, tilting her head in curiosity.
"Basically, they're some kind of special herbs that heal up any Pokémon as soon as it eats them! Now, there are a total of five different types of Herba Mystica, based on what I read. Just taking a little lick of them once they've been powdered will get your blood flowing, provide nutrients, prevent aging—it'll even boost the immune system! These herbs seem like they're the real deal. Only found here in Paldea—and rare to boot!"
"Oh my! If those could be cultivated, it could cause all kinds of medical breakthroughs!" Roll gasped.
"But this book says they're all guarded by Titan Pokémon, meaning that it's gonna be pretty tough to try to grab even a few sprigs. 'Cause, see Titans are— Well, I think they've gotta be...things like this!" Arven noted as he showed Roll a page, showing a rough drawing of a strange creature; to Roll it looked like a robot of sorts made to resemble an elephant with a spheroid body and the 'trunk' going over the top of the head.
''Monsters of Area Zero.' …Area Zero?! This book talks about Area Zero!' Roll thought with wide eyes.
"I really want to get those herbs for myself, but...I'm not very good at Pokémon battles," Arven sighed as he put the book back into his backpack, "Don't have any friends with strong Pokémon to lend me a hand, either... And I'd never hear the end of it if I went crawling to that student council girl..."
"What about my sister?" Roll asked.
"I'd like to…but she scares me," Arven admitted.
"Huh? She scares you?"
"Have you seen how she acts when she's all fired up or angry at someone?" Arven asked in disbelief.
"...Ohh…Yeah, she…she can get scary…" Roll muttered in admittance, thinking of what happened the last time Lan finally burned through her patience, 'Oof…Yeah, no, Arven has the right to be wary.'
"But here you waltz up! You've got to help me out with this—you'd be perfect!" Arven exclaimed.
"Huh?! M-Me? But…"
"Nope! Wait! I don't need an answer yet! I'll just register the places where it seems there might be Titans in your map app for you," Arven replied as a RotomPhone popped out of his pack and Dexter was given the data, showing five new icons with a set of stars between one to five under them, "I even added a difficultly rating based off of some stories I read online about them." he dug into his backpack, "Let it stew a bit, and we can get more into the details later. And in the meantime...take this. A little gift for listening and all." he pulled out a dark blue satchel and placed it in her hands, some bright red/pink sand falling out and onto her hand, Roll noting how silky it felt, "Give the idea some serious thought! Please!"
"Um…sure," Roll replied before Arven left, letting her go and find an empty table, 'Honestly, it does sound interesting…and looking for these Titans may find me a lead on Mega, too!' she sat down at it and Tango popped out of his ball, letting him hop onto it and curl up before her, "Aw…So sweet."
"I looked over the rules. It's alright to let Tango out all the time," Dexter assured before her screen buzzed and turned to static.
"Dexter?" Roll pondered before the screen changed to 'AUDIO ONLY.'
=...This is Roll Sakurai, correct? I hacked your smartphone so I could talk to you. Hope you don't mind=
Roll tensed, "What do you mean exactly by 'hacked?'"
=Well, as far as you're concerned, it means I'm basically in control of your phone right now=
"Her name is Dexter," Roll growned.
=My apologies then. Fortunately, the Rotom is alright, just disconnected for a few moments. My name's Cassiopeia. But never mind that—it's you I want to talk about. I hear you're a Trainer with serious potential. If that description is accurate, there's something I'd like to ask of you=
"And what's that?" Roll questioned, quirking a brow.
=Tell me, Roll... You know about Team Star, right?=
"Yeah. I just fought a pair of the members earlier."
=Great. I appreciate you being up-front here. Team Star is a group of troublemakers formed by some academy students a while back... They cause headaches for the school and try to bring other students down to their level. And I refuse to sit idly by and let them get away with it!=
"And that involves me how?"
=I've come up with a plan to bring down Team Star and force them to disband for good. I call it...Operation Starfall! But I'll need allies to carry out this operation...and I'd like you to be one of them= Roll opened her mouth =No need to reply right this second. We can discuss the details some other time. Till then, I'll leave you to it. Bye=
"BWAH!" Dexter exclaimed as the screen changed back, "Oh, I hated that! I don't want that to happen again!"
"We'll figure it out," Roll assured.
"Ah, Miss Roll," Roll looked to see Clavell walking over, "Please do try to keep your voice down if you're making calls within the school, won't you?"
"Sorry, sir. It wasn't on purpose," Roll apologized.
Clavell nodded, "Regardless, you don't want anyone else overhearing any personal information, after all. Honestly... There are so many things we need to be careful about in this day and age."
"Oh, hello Director," Maylu greeted as she walked over with a tray of two strawberry milkshakes and some food.
"Greetings, Miss Maylu. On I go, then, young ladies," Clavell nodded before walking off, 'Team Star, you say...?'
"Was everything okay?" Maylu asked.
"Yeah. Just…a lot of weirdness," Roll replied before giving her a small recap.
"Huh?! Your Rotom got hacked?" Maylu gawked, "Ugh…I'll get you the latest firewall software this week, Sis. Sorry you had to deal with that, but still…Operation Starfall…"
"Yeah," Roll agreed before taking a sip of her milkshake, 'GOOD ASIMOV ABOVE, WHY IS NETWORK FOOD SO DISGUSTING COMPARED TO THIS?!'
"Okay, so I need to get to the Student Council office," Maylu noted, "Will you be okay going off on your own?"
"I will," Roll assured, "Thanks for helping me see a lot here."
"Hey, we're family, so it's no problem," Maylu giggled before giving her another hug, "Love you, Sis."
"I love you, too," Roll replied, returning the loving embrace before Maylu ran off, "..." she exhaled slowly, "Maylu…"
=Miss Roll Sakurai, to the Director's office. Miss Roll Sakurai to the Director's Office please=
"Oh dear…" Roll gasped before running off.
"Thank you for coming, Miss Roll," Clavell greeted once Roll entered his spacious office, "Have you been enjoying your time here at Uva Academy?"
"Yes, sir. I'm really liking it so far," Roll replied.
"That is most wonderful to hear," Clavell smiled, "But please…Do remember I am always here to lend an ear should you find yourself struggling in any way."
"Thank you for that, sir," Roll thanked, a grateful expression on her face.
"Now, you may be wondering why we could not have simply conversed earlier in the cafeteria. But let me assure you, there is a reason why I asked you to meet me here in my office. It seems that a friend of mine has a rather serious matter they would like to discuss with you."
"Really? Are they running late?" Roll asked, looking around.
"Ah, no, I'm afraid they aren't actually here in this room with us. One moment, please. Just allow me to connect us..."
He got up and turned on the nearby television. It turned to static for a few moments before clearing up, revealing a lab background with an older man on the screen, looking rather handsome in appearance. He sported a five o'clock shadow and his brown hair was swept back. He appeared to be wearing a futuristic black and violet jumpsuit underneath a labcoat. He gave Roll a lookover and smiled gently at her.
"Hello, Roll. It is nice to meet you. My name is Professor Turo. I carry out Pokémon research within the Great Crater of Paldea—at a site known as Area Zero."
"Hello, Professor Turo," Roll greeted.
"Well. Allow me to get straight to the point. Roll Naturia Sakurai, student ID number 805C393...You are the student who travels with the unusual Pokémon Miraidon, is that correct?"
"Well…I do have them with me," Roll replied, pulling out the PokéBall before Data popped out of it.
"Thank you. I appreciate that you were honest in confirming the facts," Turo nodded before adopting a startled expression, "Ah, not that I…I do not mean to offend you. In fact, I wish to ask for your assistance."
"My assistance?" Roll pondered.
"Oh. How good to see that you are well. It has been quite a while since we last met. Miraidon was once in my care, you see," Turo explained, "Its PokéBall was also originally mine. I assume you received it from a young man called Arven."
"I did, yes," Roll replied, petting the happy Miraidon, "He seemed rather glad to be rid of it and Data, which is odd since he's been such a good boy."
"I am no longer in any position to be able to manage that Pokémon myself. This is what I would ask of you: Will you continue looking after Miraidon on my behalf?"
"...Sure," Roll nodded, recalling how Miraidon saved her.
"I do appreciate your agreement," Turo noted with a small suave smile, "Miraidon has been greatly weakened and is currently incapable of battle. It can, however, take on a form specialized for mobility. In all likelihood, it will require some time to fully regain the capabilities it once had." Miraidon tilted its head at Roll, who looked at it in concern, "I will provide you with my contact information. If you would please get out your phone?"
"Huh? My phone?" Roll pondered before pulling out the RotomPhone, "Um…How do I…?" she yelped as it floated out of her hand and aimed at the screen before its screen turned on and downloaded something before going back to her, "Oh…I-I guess that's how…"
"I will be in regular contact going forward to keep tabs on your status. Until then," Turo nodded at her before the screen turned off.
"The professor is, in fact, a graduate of our fine academy, as well as a splendid researcher," Clavell explained before looking over the saddened Data that Roll started to comfort, "Could this Pokémon have its origins within Area Zero...? Turo... Don't tell me you actually did it..."
"It's okay, Data. We'll go see him when we can get permission, okay?" Roll assured.
"Agi…" Data sadly whined as he nuzzled into her.
"Well, it seems that the professor is asking quite the favor of you. But of course the academy is always here to support you in any way that we are able. I do hope you'll continue to enjoy your school life, together with that Miraidon."
"I will, sir. And, please, his name is Data," Roll corrected.
"Hellooo! 'Scuse me!" the two looked to see Nemona enter.
"Nemona?" Roll asked.
"Oh! You're still here, Roll!" Nemona beamed before cringing, "Oof. Getting called into the director's office? How'd you land in that much trouble already?!"
"Wh-What?! No, I didn't…It's not…!" Roll panicked before Nemona giggled.
"...Naw, kidding! I know it wasn't like that."
"Aw come on…" Roll groaned.
"Mr. Jacq wanted me to show you the way to your room in the school dorms," Nemona explained, "Your very own private room, Roll! Let's go check it out!"
"Bye, Mr. Clavell," Roll waved, returning Data to his ball.
"Good day, young ladies," Clavell nodded.
"Ta-ta-tachán! From today on, this is your room, Roll!" Nemona cheered as they entered a spacious dorm room with a small kitchen, small bedroom, and a bathroom with shower, "Actually, it's as new to me as it is to you. Never been in here before."
"Whoa~" Roll awed, looking around.
"Maybe check out your new bed? Looks comfy. And you must be pretty worn out from all this stuff happening on your very first day, huh? A quick rest on a bed is all you need to get yourself and your Pokémon healthy again!" Nemona beamed, pumping a fist.
"True…It is getting late," Roll agreed.
"I'll see you tomorrow, when you've rested up. Then we can battle even more! Take care!" Nemona cheered as she ran off.
"..." Roll sighed as she fell on her back onto the bed, letting out Netto and Shade, the Pawmi and Sprigatito looking around in awe while she pulled out Data's PokeBall, seeing it in the semi-transparent top, "I'd let you out, too, Data, but the room is too tiny for you." she looked at the ceiling, 'Mew…Are you still in timeout? Can you hear me?'
"Hi!" Mew greeted, popping up in front of her face.
"!?" Roll nearly shot up in surprise, "M-Mew?!"
"Yeppy! I'm from the future after my grounding is over!" Mew beamed before pouting, "Meema says that I'm still in trouble, though…" she smiled, "But Meema said that my punishment is to stay with you until the boo-boo is fixed!"
"Oh…that…That's honestly a good thing," Roll noted, "Mew…why is there another Maylu here?"
"Maylu? The red-haired lady with the big fluffy stuffed animal, right?"
"Yes."
"Oh! That…um…so I may have lied about why you fell. You're actually in the body of this world's version of you," Mew explained.
"...Say what?"
"Multiverse," Mew shrugged, "You may trigger memories the you here remembers, but it's also why I had to put knowledge on Pokemon Battles in your noggin. When everything is over, this Roll will have her body back and revised memories of your journey leaving out knowledge of the other universe."
"...What did she mean by 'twin?'"
"I don't know. I just got here," Mew replied, shrugging before flying off to make friends with Netto and Shade.
Roll sighed as she looked up at the ceiling once more. Attending school in another world filled with creatures of amazing powers. She made friends with a battle-hungry girl that reminds her of Lan and NetBattling…and her NetOp is her twin in this universe. She brought her hands to her face and groaned. This…was harder than expected…
*knock-knock*
"!" Roll looked at the door and walked up to it, peeping through the peephole to see Maylu, "?!" She opened it, "Maylu?"
"Hey," the red-head greeted, "May I come in?"
"Um…sure," Roll replied, letting her inside and closing the door…before Maylu hugged her.
"I wasn't expecting you to come here unless it was with Hub," Maylu whispered.
"...Well…I'm…I found a lead on him, but…"
"But it means you have to go back on the pinkie promise you and Hub have to be a Pokémon Trainer," Maylu finished as she turned to see Tango and Netto on the bed, "...Three months now…"
'That's how long Mega's been gone,' Roll thought as she nodded, "Yeah. I…I refuse to give up. Not until I find him alive or…or a body…"
"Don't say that," Maylu scolded, spinning around to poke her right breast as she glared at her, "He isn't dead. You're the one who has always been insistent on it. You can't have those kinds of thoughts. You're the last sliver of hope everyone has in finding Lan's big brother, one of our best friends, and your future husband."
"M-Maylu!" Roll squeaked as she blushed bright red, earning a laugh from Maylu.
"Oh, I just love teasing you about your crush on Hub," she spoke between laughs, "You better make sure he knows once he's safe and well enough." She adopted a concerned look, "Just…be careful, Sis. I searched all over when I did the Treasure Hunt earlier this year. Right now, I'm just waiting for the next one because Lan is trying to get approval to explore the one place I wasn't able to here."
"Huh? Where?"
"Area Zero."
Roll couldn't let a shudder stop its escape, "Sounds ominous…"
Maylu nodded, "Only Champion-level Trainers can get access for themselves and anyone with them, but only with a lot of paperwork being involved." she frowned, "Don't you dare go down there without me and Lan there, got it?"
"But…"
Roll was cut off by a light from Maylu's hip that changed into a slim, toned, orange-skinned and white-furred monkey with a mane of flames on its head and a gold headband on its head. It snarled at her and Roll tensed, her right hand moving behind her back.
"Dasheng! Down!" Maylu snapped, making the monkey tense and slowly backed off.
"Infernape…" it muttered.
"Sorry 'bout him, Sis," Maylu apologized as she returned the Pokémon to its ball, "Kinda impressed you could stand up to his look."
"Y-Yeah…" Roll agreed as her RollArrow shifted back to her fingerless glove before sighing, "So I need to be stronger to go down there?"
"Yeah. There are a ton of restrictions for traveling down there that it's next to impossible to go down there," Maylu noted, "But…it's honestly our best bet to find Hub. It's one of the last places we haven't checked yet."
"Right," Roll nodded before a yawn escaped her lips.
Maylu giggled, "Not surprised you're tired. From what Nemona told me, you've had a busy day as a first time Trainer." She wrapped her up into another hug, "I'll talk to ya tomorrow, Sis."
"That's…" Roll began before returning the hug, nuzzling into her, "That's perfect, Maylu. Even with the issue, I'm…I'm really glad to have you here." 'You're not my Maylu, but it's still good to have a Maylu with me through this…'
"See ya tomorrow," Maylu spoke once the hug ended and she then left…letting Mew appear once more.
"Phew…That was close," Mew sighed in relief, wiping her brow with her tail.
Roll sighed as she sat on the bed and let out Data, who began curling up on the floor, "Okay…we're all alone now. No interruptions or anything, so…" she inhaled deeply before speaking, "I'm…not Roll Sakurai." Several confused noises came from them, "My name is Artificial Intelligence Network Navigator designation RollEXE." She gestured to Mew, who was lying on Data's back, "Thanks to Mew, I am here to find my friend Megaman who was brought here by Dialga and Palkia fighting. I'm currently borrowing the actual Roll Sakurai's body to do so."
"Yeppers!" Mew agreed, "My big brothers did a big boo-boo and we needed to fix it, so Roll is here to fix it!"
"So you are an AI?" Dexter asked in surprise and fascination.
"Yes," Roll replied, "I'm experiencing so much I never did as a NetNavi, but I'm also focused on finding Mega. I'm sorry for any decit I've caused and I understand if you…" she yelped as Tango jumped onto her chest and then onto her right shoulder and Netto followed him and got onto her left one while Data nuzzled into her stomach, "G-Guys?"
"We all trust you, Roll. Doesn't matter what you are or who you are. We're with you all the way!" Dexter assured.
Mew giggled as she landed on Roll's head, "You're stuck with us! …Can I have some pink Moomoo milk please?"
"..." Roll blinked a few times, "Um…Do we have any in here?"
"I stocked the fridge," Mew replied, "Just…ignore any news about a Tyrantrum in Johto rampaging and this pink lady being mad at it."
