A/N(6/5/24): Updated Author's Note, there isn't anything that changes to this except me fixing an error with name's as I put down Coco's name instead of Velvet, my bad.
Yang finally walks over to meet her friends and Blake, but Raider's words are still floating around in her head though she shoos them away, refusing to listen to them. Yang doesn't think she's ready to face Blake yet, let alone have that kind of conversation with her. In the back of her head, she knows it needs to be had. Once again, Yang attempts to convince herself that she isn't ready, that now isn't the right time.
Ruby gives her sister a smile and Yang takes notice that her plate is stacked high with a mountain of cookies. Weiss sighs as she gives the sister a look, telling Yang she tried to stop the young girl from taking so many; the attempts were futile, unfortunately. Yang couldn't help herself, she let out a small chuckle at the heiress' expense to which she returned with a glare. Weiss went back to finishing up her plate with a defiant 'hmph', swiftly turning her head and making the girl's ponytail smack Yang in the face. Though Weiss' back was turned, she could feel Yang's smirk as she walked off to join the others.
Yang grabbed her own plate and began filling it. "So, what did Raider tell you?" Ruby asked curiously. Out of the corner of Yang's eye, she noticed Blake raise her head slightly, indicating she had heard what Raider informed them to do. Dismissively, Yang brought her attention back to food, telling that it wasn't anything important and ignored more of her sister's questions. Ruby took that as her sign to drop it, but that doesn't mean she would fully let it go. Ruby looked up and saw Blake eyeing her sister warily. Ruby understood what it was about and frowned as she could just see the two distancing themselves from each other both literally, as Yang sat down next to Jaune and Nora, and figuratively, watching the two close themselves off from one another.
That's just how the entire break went, when someone asked Yang about the short conversation she either changed the subject or told them to drop it entirely. Out of everyone, Ruby knew how much Blake leaving would really affect her. Heck, they were shown the reason why this is affecting her so much. It took years for Ruby to learn the truth of Raven and even more to really see the result. And for that same thing to happen again, by your best friend?
Each time Blake heard someone ask Yang her guilt only continued to grow bigger and bigger. But the Faunus repeatedly reminded herself that it was for the better, she wouldn't be able to hurt her friends ever again as long as she stayed away.
But isn't that what you're doing right now? Hurting them? Hurting her ?
Blake shook her head, turning her attention back to her food, but she learned very quickly that she just doesn't have the stomach for any of it. Raider walked towards the group once she saw that the friends were done eating. Besides Blake and Yang's plates that practically remained untouched. "Are you guys ready for some more Chibi?" Upon hearing the question, a lot of the group were excited about the idea. They were glad they were watching more because they could all sense that the mood was still a bit dreadful from the season finale. Even though they previously watched three episodes of Rwby Chibi.
Raider brought them back over to the same area and gestured them back to their seats. Everyone couldn't help but notice the very clear distance Blake and Yang were putting between themselves. They all couldn't stand that the two best friends were trying so hard to stay away from each other and what pained them even more was that this was something those two had to figure out by themselves. The most they would be able to do is gesture for them to open up or try and get them to be closer. (They all tried that at least 2 times but it, of course, didn't work.)
Raider brought their attention back and asked Weiss to choose between two words, 'parent' or 'dreams'. Which the teenagers found more than a little odd, but Weiss chose dreams. Raider gave the girl a nod and introduced the next episode–
RWBY Dreams
Klein walks up to Shopkeep's noodle stand and request for one bowl.
Weiss let out an excited gasp, right as Ruby was about to ask who the mysterious man was. "Klein!" The heiress shouts with joy at seeing her family's butler, (and her personal favorite). It didn't take a single moment, judging by the man's clothing, fancy voice, and the way he asked for the bowl, that this was one of Weiss' butlers.
Klein takes a whiff of the noodles and sighs happily at the smell. His pupils change to red, and once they do, his entire personality swaps. His voice changes to something a bit more gruff, his arm learning on the stand. "On second thought, this is too boring. How about we…spice things up."
Weiss is already explaining before someone asks, "His semblance is that he can change between seven different personalities."
Shopkeep lets out a sigh, getting the hot sauce, but Klein already has a noodle in his mouth and his reaction is immediate. His face goes red while his eyes are a minty green color. He complains that the noodles are too hot, and, once again, his eyes change to a violet color.
Weiss burst out into a fit of giggles as she could never resist the man's antics. All her friends looked towards Weiss with surprise, not used to seeing her show so much joy openly. Ruby was laughing along with her, not blaming her for showing her more carefree side.
"Actually, if it's not t-to much to ask, fish?" Shopkeep throws on one fish, "Oh, uh, how about some p-p-p-" Klein continues to stutter as Shopkeep raises the shaker to put pepper, but stops upon seeing his reaction so he just puts it to the other side of the stand as Klein's eyes return to a yellow shade. "Oh, this is looking so delicious! So delicious that I would just love another order already! Yum, yum, yum!"
Shopkeep releases a sigh, quickly making another bowl only to see that Klein had fallen asleep, causing the man to slam the bowl on the stand. Shopkeep coughs to get Klein's attention while bringing out the bill.
"Why does that bill have so much writing for only two bowls of noodles?!" Nora shouts.
"Oh my, I'm afraid that's a bit pricey for my tastes. I'll just go ahead and get a plain bowl of noodles, please?" Shopkeep growls, clearly fed up with the man. Klein reverts back to grump asking what's taking so long. Shopkeep descends to the ground, not wanting to deal with Klein.
The whole group felt sorry for Shopkeep, they all hate when the same thing happens to them. All in different scenarios but the outcome is just the same.
"I don't think he gets paid enough for that kind of stuff. He should get hefty tips every time he has to deal with a customer like that," Sun comments.
Ruby rides on Zwei's back, changing to the next skit. In Team Rwby's dorm Zwei is trying his best to get to Ruby's bunk whilst everyone else is sleeping.
Blake rests on her side, the screen fading into showing what the girl's dream is.
Weiss gave a small nod, understanding the title of the episode. She figured it was either talking about the team's hopes and dreams or the team's literal dreams. Upon seeing her team fast asleep she quickly realized it was the latter.
Blake peacefully sits on a couch, book in hand, and reading as everyone around her is swimming through the air.
Blake gave the screen a weird look, having zero clue as to why this would be one of her dreams.
"Shouldn't you be doing that in the pool?" Blake asks a nearby Neptune. He scoffs and brushes her off. "Ugh, people make terrible fish!" Swimming up to Blake is an actual fish, which Blake is more than happy to see.
Blake feels her stomach rumble as she eyes the fish, just now realizing that she actually hadn't eaten any of the food given. As if Raider heard her stomach, a large bucket of butter popcorn appeared in her lap.
Next to her, Ruby and Nora didn't waste a second in grabbing themselves a handful, resulting in Blake to let out a sigh.
"See this? Now this is a good fish," Blake states as she grabs the fish and takes an enormous bite.
"Sorry kitty, I'm actually a very bad fish, hehe." Blake's eyes go wide as the fish responds with a deep male voice, not phased that he technically should be dead.
Blake places a hand over her mouth, about to throw up. In the real world Blake holds onto her stomach as grumbles.
Annnnnd Blake gives the bucket of popcorn to Ruby who happily takes it.
Blakes mumbles to herself in her sleep as we're given a peek into Yang's dream. Yang casually walks away from a group of five adults. "Halt, just where do you think you're going, rebellious teenager?" Tai asks his daughter.
Man… Not even in dreams can I escape his dad-mode.
"I'll tell you where I'm going…anywhere I want!" Yang's aviators slide over her eyes, the girl jumping in slo-mo over the adults while playing an electric guitar.
This got some laughs from the students as Nora agrees with her friend, also wishing that the teachers would lay off a bit more.
Yang lands on Bumblebee, releasing rainbow dust in their faces, "Suck rainbow authority figures!" Winter curses the girl as she drives off as well as driving over the group, leaving a rainbow in her wake. Beside her, doing the same, is a fish.
"Where'd the fish come from?" Jaune asks.
"It's a dream man, you can't rationalize this kind of stuff," Sun says, bumping his shoulder against Jaune's.
"Out with a Yang…" The girl mumbles, moving her hands like she's revving up Bumblebee, her aviators over her eyes.
Before Jaune could say anything, Ruby piped in. "And that is just down to cartoon logic, simple."
In Weiss' dream the girl sits at her desk, giving Dr. Oobleck an answer. "Correct, congratulations you have now officially learned everything there is to learn Ms. Schnee."
"What?! But I love learning!" Weiss yells with horror, standing up from her own seat.
There was a part of Weiss, an old one, that felt inclined to act the same upon hearing that news, but Weiss did nothing; she sat there as she heard a few chuckles from her counterpart on the screen.
"Sadly, your brain is full, stuffed to capacity, you literally know it all." Dr. Oobleck leans on the desk as the entire room chants that Weiss is a know-it-all.
"Aww, Weiss, we wouldn't do that-" Nora started and Weiss was about to thank her but Nora continued, "We'd say you're a know-it-all but we'd never chant it."
On second thought, maybe Weiss wasn't going to thank the girl.
"Please, there has to be more I can learn! E-Extra credit!" Weiss hunches down in her chair and real Weiss tosses and turns in her bed, muttering that she isn't a know-it-all.
Zwei finally makes it onto Ruby's bed as we peek into the leader's dream. Riding on Zwei's back Ruby shouts, "Onward noble Zwei!" The dog launches Ruby off his back and the young girl crashes into something. Upon looking at what she flew into she looks at the object in both confusion and shock.
Clutching onto her hurt leg is Ruby, but a much larger Ruby, causing Chibi Ruby to let out a gasp, the bigger Ruby doing the same. "Oh my gosh you're adorable!"
" That's your reaction when you see another you? To shout how cute they look?" Weiss looked over at her partner with an eyebrow raised.
"Well, it is a dream, I'm sure I would have acted differently if it was in real life," Ruby explained, "Like when Raider said we had…voice actors." Just bringing that up again caused everyone to shudder at the memory.
"Ruby, we don't talk about that. We never talk about that." Simply saying it makes Yang remember all the other things about how their life and future is just a scripted animated show for others to watch and see things that hadn't even happened to them yet!
"Are you a cosplayer? I love your outfit!" Chibi shouts, running around the larger Ruby with a big grin. The larger Ruby gets down to her level and cutely remarks on Ruby's stubby little legs. Chibi takes offense to this, pulling out her Crescent Rose, and threatening to cut her.
"Woah, never knew you'd take that so personally…" Sun says, albeit nervously. Now he never knows to never comment on Ruby's height, because she seems like the type of person to follow through on those threats.
"I'm not short, you guys are just tall!" Ruby shouts.
"Even Crescent Rose is adorable! Oh, you two are so cute! I just want to squeeze you till you pop!" Ruby pounces on her Chibi version, hugging her tightly. Chibi Ruby wheezes out that she's being betrayed by her own cuteness and that she can't breathe. In reality, it's simply Zwei sitting atop her face.
"Zwei!" Ruby yells out while Yang bursts into laughter.
Thankfully, Ruby wakes up and throws him off, yelling at him that that's the third time this week!
The video cuts off, signaling the end. Raider walks to the front for a short announcement. "Alright, we're going to watch two more Chibi episodes, I'm going to go over a couple of things with you before we begin Volume 4, and that'll be it, sound good?" The kids all nod, and Raider is quickly able to continue.
He Does It All
Before anything truly begins, video games and RWBY merch are shown on the screen.
"Woah, what's all that?" Jaune points to the screen. Ruby and Yang look at the video games with stars in their eyes.
"Everything looks so cool!" Nora had her hands slapped on her cheeks as she looked.
"That's a few things that RoosterTeeth sells to the people, and at the time it was all new," Raider explains.
"What do you mean 'at the time'?" Blake asks.
"Well this episode of Ruby was made a year ago from where I'm from, so it's not recent." Blake lets out a hum of understanding.
In her bed, Ruby rests peacefully, with Mr. Teddington safely in her arms. But, Klein, with his eyes red, snatches it away and storms off. Ruby cries out for her bear.
Gasps rang from the room, "NO! Teddington! Weiss, why would your butler steal away Teddington?" Tears were actually in her eyes as she turned to Weiss. The girl's cheeks turned red as Ruby asked her the question.
Why does she look cute? No, no! Focus, your friend is crying!
"I-I'm sure he had a reason, Ruby. It's not like Klein to be rude for no reason." That clearly wasn't a good enough answer for the girl, but she wasn't going to find out anything until they got to the end.
"I wake up from dreams, only to enter nightmares." Ruby's crying stopped, but only for her to be forlorn.
Blake sits to quietly read, but she can't get any silence due to Klein's rapid sneezing behind her.
Blake's eye twitches as she watches.
Yang steps out of a froyo joint to find that Bumblebee is gone.
"My bike! Weiss! Do not tell me-!" Her question is answered in the next few seconds.
Klein is happily whistling as he rides Bumblebee, and Yang is more than pissed.
Oh boy… Ruby winces as she looks at her sister. An expression of rage painted across her face.
"He stole Bumblebee!"
"I can't get a moment of peace."
"He bearnapped Mr. Teddington! He has got to go."
All three girls say to Weiss, coming to her with their grievances about her butler.
"I'm sorry girls, I'll handle it." Weiss reassures them just as Klein walks through the door.
"Oh, wonderful, just the people I wanted to see." Klein walks up to a glaring Ruby and hands back Mr. Teddington. "Ms. Rose, I gave Mr. Teddington a wash for you. Couldn't stand to see him in that state." Ruby happily takes her bear with new found love growing for the man.
"Wait, wha-..." Ruby was motionless as she stared at the screen.
Klein then approaches Blake. "Ms. Belladonna, I hope you don't mind that I dusted your book collection." He ends his sentence with a loud sneeze.
"Um…" Blake didn't know what to say. Her natural reaction would be to thank him, but seeing how this was a cute show and that this hadn't ever happened she stayed silent.
Lastly was Yang, and she was still ticked off. "Ms. Xiao Long, you'll be happy to know your bike now gets better mileage. I made sure to leave her with a full tank after tuneup. I do hope you'll love it."
Blake and Ruby quickly appear, standing next to Yang with dumbfounded looks.
"What the hell are we talking about, he's staying!" Yang shouts, and Blake and Ruby are rapidly in favor of the idea.
"Weiss, you need to bring him over more often!" Ruby all but demands. Weiss let out a sigh of relief, she knew all Klein was doing was trying to help, and she's glad that her friends like him and wish to have him over.
"Also, I kinda baked some fresh cookies. I h-hope t-they're okay?" Ruby gasps in amazement as Klein presents the plate of chocolate chip cookies.
Ruby's reaction is the same as her counterpart. "Can he stay forever?!"
"Klein, I'm sorry, I'm not sure you can stay," Weiss says sadly, a cookie in hand.
"Don't you talk to him like that!" Yang is quickly blocking Klein from Weiss.
"He's not going anywhere!" Blake yells from on top of Yang's head.
"This man is a national treasure!" Ruby shouts, hugging Klein close. The three of them are quickly leaving the room with them three carrying Klein, chanting his name. Except Yang, she's just shouting butler.
Weiss gives her friends a look, then pops the whole cookie in her mouth. "Mhm, not bad."
Like that the episode is over. "Well, that was a short one," Pyrrha comments from the back. Raider nods and puts on the last episode, for now, without any interruption.
Teenage Faunus Ninja Catgirl
"I wonder who this episode could be about? Ren, any ideas?" Nora asks in an obvious voice.
"Blake, I mean, I thought the title was pretty clear." Nora groans at Ren's lack of sense of humor.
"I know it's Blake, that was the point of me even asking the question, because it was really obvious!" Ren gave no response to that besides a hum.
Blake sits in the middle of a circle of candles. Grabbing Gambol Shroud she puts them all out, swinging her weapon as the wind extinguishes the flames.
"Little dramatic, don't you think?" Yang attempts, but it honestly just comes out more awkward than anything.
"Yeah, I…uh, I guess."
Welp, it's a start, Ruby thinks as she looks at the two.
"I will not fail in my mission." At that moment, the door opens, letting light flood in with Jaune holding a piece of homework, asking for help. Blake responds by stabbing Jaune's homework into the wall.
"It's cool, I'll figure it out." He says as he walks out the door.
This got a few laughs from a few in the audience.
"Ninja Vanish!" Blake throws down a smoke bomb and she's gone.
Weiss and Ruby are walking side by side in a street in Vale, but Ruby looks around paranoid. "Hey Weiss, do you ever get the feeling you're being watched?"
"As I know my on screen self will answer with something that's self absorbed, I'll give you a real answer: yes. Whether it's good or bad it just comes with being the Heiress to the biggest dust company on Remnant."
Well, that must be uncomfortable. To know that every single eye is on you no matter what, and to always feel like someone's watching you? Imagine the constant pressure that's shoved upon your shoulders everytime you go outside, you need to uphold and keep a certain image consistently.
"Of course! People can't get enough of me, you get used to it," Was Weiss' response.
Mhm, there it is, Weiss thought with a silent nod of the head.
"That's not what I meant." As the two walk past a tree, Blake magically appears, stating that the hunt begins, throwing down another one of her smoke bombs. This causes Ruby to freak out and run off.
Ruby lies down tensely next to the pool side with Velvet. A bubble floats to her ear, popping with a whisper of ninja. Ruby rapidly sits up, asking if Velvet heard something. "Probably, I hear everything, all the time."
"Oh, something's giving me the creeps, I need to get out of here!" Ruby exclaims as she runs off. Blake is perched on the lifeguard seat, marking Ruby that she can't escape her. She goes to throw another bomb, but Velvet's snort stops her.
"Sorry, I just heard Jane trip and fall, I didn't mean to interrupt your moment."
"Oh, what? Come on…" Jaune groans as even in the Chibi world he can't run from being that guy. Pyrrha comforts the poor boy by rubbing his back.
Blake pauses for a moment before continuing, disappearing with a cloud of smoke. With a purple background is Roman, twirling his cane before shooting at the screen, changing to show him, Neo, and Cardin walking down the street.
Just seeing Roman reminds Ruby of his end, repeating in her head vividly.
"Remind me who you are again and why I should care?" Roman asks the boy.
"My name's Cardin Winchester and I'm a huge fan of your work! You're a legend in the bully community."
Bully Community, seriously? Everyone deadpans as they look at their classmate on screen.
Roman chuckles evilly, admiring the boy for his good taste. Neo simply rolls her eyes as Cardin continues to speak. "I want to learn from you! How to beat down those nerds and losers with style." Neo looks at the interaction, already deciding she hates the boy.
For once we're on the same side with her, they all collectively agree.
"A protege, you say? What do you think, Neo?" Roman asks. The girl pulls out a sign that says to "Ditch Him". "Now, now, you never know when you could use a helping hand. Alright, lesson one: Always do what I say. Wait here." Roman rushes into the store and moments later alarms begin to go off.
Cardin whimpers as it's just him and Neo outside. Roman returns, tossing a bag to Neo who immediately begins walking away. Roman holds two more, giving one to Cardin, telling him his next lesson is to hold it, and to not move. "Holding stuff is easy," Cardin says as Shopkeep comes out with a broom in hand. He angrily points to the lien. "This isn't what it looks like?" Cardin's statement comes out more as a question.
Shopkeep proceeds to berate him and begin whacking him on the head.
"Serves him right, now if only he could have done the same to Neo and Roman," Ruby states.
Roman concludes with lesson three from behind a brick wall: never get left holding the bag. Neo pulls out another sign that reads "Class Dismissed".
Blake jumps across the screen, going back to Ruby who sits in the kitchen with a bunch of empty tea cups and Nora sitting next to her, eating cereal. "All day long I've felt like someone's following me! But everytime I look I miss them! They're too fast!"
"I would like to point out how bad your method of trying to ask Ruby something is, Blake," Sun starts, "You can clearly see how much this is messing with Ruby's head, why not just walk up like an average person?"
"I don't even know what my other self wants from Ruby, and don't you think I can clearly see that. I suppose me sneaking around is meant to be the comedic joke of this entire episode, but I obviously don't find the humor in it if it's just scaring my friend and disheveling her head."
"Hm, maybe Blake's seen them, she can see everything from up there," Nora says, pointing to the corner of the ceiling. Ruby is confused by what she means but is surprised when she turns her head.
"I see you Ruby Rose…"
"Blake?"
"What."
"The."
"F*ck."
The Faunus didn't have an answer herself, she was just as creeped out by her counterpart's actions. "Blake! What the heck! Do you have any idea how terrifying that would be for someone, especially someone who's been paranoid all day?!" Ruby yells.
"You're asking me that question like you think I agree with this," Blake counters as she looks at her team leader.
"Still!" Ruby gestures to the screen with outstretched arms, "Why?"
"I don't know!"
Raider continues before this transforms into an all out war.
"Ah, ceiling cat!" Ruby shouts, throwing tea cups at Blake as she rushes out of the room. Blake deflects all of them and swiftly follows. Nora causally continues to eat her cereal.
Ruby bursts into the classroom, making her way to the front as she hides behind desks. "She's coming for me, I know it."
"She's already here," Blake states as she's placed herself on the teacher's desk. "The time has come…for you to return my book, you've had it for months."
"Are you serious? All that for an overdue book?" Weiss exclaims, looking towards her teammate. Ruby slumps down in relief and exasperation, she really thought it was something more serious than that.
"Oh, here you go! I've read all the good parts, wink." Ruby gives Blake her book, leaning on the desk with a sly smile.
Blake quickly recognizes the book and knows what she means by 'good parts'. "Oooh, cool cover, can I read Blake? I promise to return back at an appropriate time." Blake didn't have an answer and wasn't planning on giving her one.
"Mission accomplished, and now, Ninja Vanish!" Blake is still visible, leaving Ruby a little confused. Ruby comments that she can still see the girl. Blake lets out a sigh, "I ran out of smoke bombs." There was a moment of pause before Blake pulled out her scroll, "Ninja Taxi!"
The episode goes into its credits and that's the end. Raider stands up to go to the front where everyone can see. "Now that we're done with Chibi, for now, we'll come back to it every three volumes. I would like to give you guys a few heads up. Now, as we know, Monty Oum has sadly passed away, leaving CRWBY to continue his story and wonderful creation, but that didn't happen. The show went on, yes, but not in the way Monty wanted. The producers took 'creative liberty' and changed things from volume 4 and on. Monty Oum's wife had the story notes, but they didn't listen or see what Monty truly had in mind. So, when you watch Volume 4 and onward, keep in mind this was the producers doing and not the way Monty wanted the story to go."
Raider let that sink in for a moment before moving on to the next part of her announcement. "Another thing I would like to bring up is Qrow's VA," Hearing their uncle's name quickly got Ruby and Yang's attention. "His voice actor is different in the upcoming volumes because the previous voice actor was fired from Roosterteeth."
"What?! Why was he fired, what happened?" Ruby asked, panic evident in her voice.
"Let me finish, please. He was released from Rooster Teeth due to some, controversial stems of, sexual misconduct allegations related to one of the other people at Rooster Teeth." Everyone held a look of disbelief as they heard this. "Before you ask any questions, I'm not the most knowledgeable about these topics and I can't give you more information than that and I deeply apologize."
Seeing as that's all they were getting and going to be given they all simply sat there, speechless. "I'll give you all a few minutes before we return back to the theater and begin the first episode of Volume 4."
Author's Note: Hello everyone, I am terribly sorry that it has been so long since I've posted an update, but you'll be happy to know that this one is up now. I can't thank you enough for your patience and I can't possibly apologize enough or make it okay that it took this long to come out. After December it was simply school work becoming too much, but later formed into a horrible habit of procrastination and it's not being used as an excuse and I'm not making any excuses. One of the good things is that it's now summer meaning I have lots more free time to make more chapters as last summer was when the most was being released.
Though, ever since Rooster Teeth has sadly shut down, I'm no longer able to use its website to make chapters, it will be a bit more difficult to write. Not to worry, I've found a way to access volume 4 so that won't be a problem, but I don't know what to say about the others. That's all I have to say and once again I'm really sorry for taking this long to get this chapter out. I love you all and hope you have a wonderful day/night!
