Although I can't imagine Amy beating up Sonic without somesort of comical effect behind it, I can see her breaking down by herself in sadness. However, she's usually a very happy person, so it will have to be a very grave or dark matter, like you said, someone dying or something like that, to put her into that state.
She hates to be alone, so her wandering off on her own is already a bad sign of something wrong.
I'll do my best :) Lots of heart breaking torture~ coming right up! :D
(I always loved this pic~ I can't believe I'm so excited about a terribly depressing story XD)
Lol, Amy is hanging out with a cliff~
Cliff~ Pfft!
Amy is looking over at the large landscape upon a high mountain range where Cliff has some of his special crop growing, as he is right now talking with Sonic.
"She's been up there on that ledge for hours now. Makes a poor man worry. I know she stepped into that doohickey that made her see all them ancient people dying from Lyric's mess, but that ain't no way for a young girl to look like!" He seemed very concern, not wanting to see his friend, whose usually so full of happy and positive spirit, looking so gloomy and down in the dumps.
The wind blew gently against her as her quills gently swayed with it.
"…I'll uh… I'll go talk to her. Thanks for looking after her Cliff." Sonic scratched the back of his head, not used to being the 'comforter' and really just more of the 'comforted' kinda guy.
"I'll let the others know you're here, and that you found her." Cliff put a reassuring hand on Sonic's shoulder, as Sonic nodded, turning around, and blowing out some air from his mouth, shaking himself and getting loosened up from all the tension he felt building up and squeezing himself inside.
He really wasn't the type to comfort… but after all the times Amy has helped him out…
He was the only one for her now…
He walked up to Amy, and raised his hand, wanting to start a conversation, but pulled out of it and scratched his head. "Uhh… Amy?" he finally just humbled himself a little bit and went to look out at the landscape with her, taking quick glances at her.
Her eyes were closed as he said her name, seeming to want to slightly tune him out, and just wanting to be alone.
He looked to her worried, his eyebrows pulling back in sorrow as he just wanted her to smile again… to forget the whole thing ever happened. But Amy wouldn't forget the faces of so many people… not that easily, anyway…
"L-look…" he started, taking a deep breath, and trying to build some confidence as he folded his arm, very uncomfortable with this silence and having so much pressure on him. "I mean… those people… they lived in the past. They were dead before you saw it and … and I know it must of been horrible but… you helped us save each other. We didn't die! Yaaay!….eh-heh.." he spread his arms out, trying to celebrate on that last high note but she didn't even flinch, and so he went right back to folding his arms and scratching his head nervously.
"Psst! Sonic!"
"..?" Sonic turned to see Hayward, giving him a thumbs up, as he was leaning on his pitchfork, and cheering him on from the sidelines as he worked the field. "Eh…heh." he awkwardly waved back at him, when he heard Amy slightly mumble something.
"I just wish…" she took a deep breath as he turned around, surprised to hear her speak, and listened carefully. "I could of saved them." she stated, and leaned her head back, opening her eyes to look at the sky above her.
Sonic followed her gaze, not really sure what she was looking at, and not understanding 'meaningful looks' very well. "W-well… by learning from the past, we prevent the same mistakes, and create a better future, right?" Sonic stated, and smiled, looking down at her. "You taught me that."
"….I guess so…" Amy leaned down and hugged her legs, pulling them up from dangling over the ledge.
"…Come on, Amy! Chin up!" He bent down beside her, on one knee. "The Amy I know would pick herself up, and do everything she can to protect those she loves. By seeing what happened before, you protected those here, now, that you know and love. Yeah… we all want to be heroes… but sometimes… you can't always change what has been done." Sonic raised his hand to her cheek, moving it slightly so Amy would look at him. This surprised her, as her hand raised from being startled, and she blinked her eyes in puzzlement, looking at him in wonder.
"…Don't be stuck in the past, Amy… The people you saved, here,… we miss and l-..well, care about you terribly… you running off really gave us a fright, you know." Sonic lowered his hand once Amy was clearly paying attention to him, as she smiled at him avoiding the 'love' word.
"…Come home?" he asked, really trying to keep it together as he was sure that if Amy didn't agree and come back, or refused to change from her current state, that his heart would break from being unable to do anything more for her.
"Yeah!" she started to cry, but held that same smile he drew upon her face there, showing him it was going to be alright. "I just wish I didn't see the mother's fleeing with their children…" she started to burst into tears, and the gut-wrenching realization of what Amy had truly witnessed in that room of vision made Sonic's face break into horror, as he looked with so much pity for Amy.
In slow motion, he seemed to hurriedly throw his arms around her, wrapping her into a tight embrace, and pulling her close to him, ducking his head over her shoulder so the audience couldn't see his face, as she cried loudly up against his chest, burying her face out of sight. Her sorrows were fully unleashed as Sonic just held her, that was all he could do, as both their hearts were broken and put together again that day…
When Tails and Knuckles arrived, they didn't know if it was okay to interrupt and maybe join the hug, but Cliff urged them to go, and they slowly walked over and hugged Amy and Sonic too.
They all went home after that, and Amy tried to not think of it again.
However, a few days later, Eggman rudely brought it up, and Amy froze during battle, shaken up by his comment of 'Isn't watching a murder still make you one, too?' as the gang beat him up for saying that, and had to comfort Amy again.
Eggman exploited her weakness about those people a few times, but soon it died down and they were never mentioned again, but Amy never forgot them, in her heart, she would protect them, by protecting the future they so fully believed in…
