Disclaimer: I don't own Sword Art Online.
As the moon loomed high in the starry sky, it sent its silver glow down towards the city park. It washed away the night's darkness with just enough glow for the place to be painted with a peaceful, magical atmosphere.
Just right for the young couple who were spending their evening there together.
Asuna barely noticed how magical her surroundings were. She was far too focused on the boy sitting alongside her. She was thinking of how her life had changed forever when she had met him. It hadn't been in the romantic of situations - as they had crossed paths in the game of death that was Sword Art Online. They had fought alongside one another in the virtual world, sticking together every step of the way - which inevitably led them to falling in love.
Now they were both free from the game. They could enjoy their company in the real world, where they didn't have to fight to survive and could just enjoy each other's company. Of course, having cleared the game, they could return to the virtual world any time they wanted. After all, in spite of the perils they'd faced there, some good things had come out of SAO as well; they'd found plenty of friends, an adoptive daughter - and of course, each other.
Asuna smiled warmly. It didn't matter to her whether she was in the real world or the virtual world. All that mattered was having Kirito in her life.
Reaching up, Asuna placed her hands onto Kirito's cheeks. She caressed them as she gently turned him to face her. Her heart racing inside her chest as she locked her loving gaze with his surprised one.
"I love you, Kirito…"
Asuna closed in on Kirito, preparing to press her lips tenderly against her own. She was eager to show the boy she'd meant in the virtual world how much she adored him in the best way she could.
Before she could kiss him, Kirito pressed a fingertip against Asuna's lips, causing her smile to vanish from them as she stared at him with surprise.
"Kazuto!" he told her. "Not Kirito!"
"Oh right!" Asuna giggled awkwardly. "Sorry, Kirito-I mean, Kazuto!"
"Geez!" Kazuto frowned and turned away. "What've I told you about calling me by my online name when we're not in the virtual world?"
"I can't help it!" Asuna laughed and rubbed the back of her head. "You were going by Kirito when I realised I fell in love with you!"
"Well I ain't Kirito here!" Kazuto turned back to his girlfriend. "You gotta stop calling me by my online name in the real world!"
"But-" Asuna stammered. "You call me by my online name in the real world, too!"
"Well duh! That's what you get for using your real name as your online name!" Kazuto smirked. "Like the noob you were!"
"Hey!" Asuna burst out. "Need I remind you this noob saved your butt over in Sword Art Online?!"
"Only to then get captured in ALfheim Online!" Kazuto reminded her. "And I had to come to rescue you! So touché!"
The couple locked their gazes with one another. They were no longer filled with love, but irritation towards each other. They growled and glared before turning away, no longer having a romantic moment together.
It's like being around a little kid with you! Asuna thought, pouting. Yui acts more mature than you do, Kirito!
Sheesh, you'd think if she loved me like she says she does, Kazuto thought, folding his arms, Asuna would use my real name instead of my online name!
The pair remained on the park bench, their backs to one another, making no effort to hide how annoyed they were with one another.
Neither of them had any idea their little spat had been witnessed by a couple of familiar faces in the park.
Lurking nearby in the shadows, watching the couple from behind some trees were Agil, Klein, Silica, Lizbeth, Sinon and Leafa - although none of them were using the names they went by in the virtual world.
"Wow!" Keiko exclaimed. "It's not like those two to bicker with each other!"
"They're like a married couple!" Andrew laughed. "Just like me and my wife!"
"Man!" Tsuboi moaned. "That guy's lucky to have a cute girl to bicker with! Why can't I get one?"
"It doesn't matter if they're having a tiff right now!" Suguha smiled towards her cousin-turned-brother and his partner. "Kazuto and Asuna love each other too much to stay mad at each other!"
"You're right!" Asada muttered dryly. "Just you watch! In a few minutes, they'll go back to being all lovey-dovey with one another!"
"Don't remind me!" Rika clutched her stomach queasily. "I'm gonna need a bucket when they do 'cause they're gonna make me puke!"
