Prompt:

Blaze felt something hit the tip of her nose and looked up.

Suddenly spooked, she looked all around her and braced herself, seeing deep, grey clouds begin to drop rain at an alarming pace now.

Her instincts naturally had her jump at great lengths to avoid the rain, but it was impossible. Finally, she dived under a tree, and shook herself off a bit, tending her clothes when something white was seen darting around in the sky above.

"Blaze?! Blllazze!" he cried out, getting soaked, but calling in the opposite direction of her.

"Oh, Silver…" she thought him a bit foolish, looking for her and probably getting sick in the process… "I'm over here!" her moment of pity turned somewhat into a warmth in her heart.

After all…

She wasn't used to someone being so worried about her.

She was usually so strong on her own… but this, kind gesture from him…. It really had some effect on her that she tried not to think too hard about.

Silver turned, immediately looking for the reply, before his face lit up at seeing her under the trees.

He dove down and shook off the water from himself.

"I was worried!"

"I could tell… but what for?"

"Uh, w-well…" he began to fumble back a bit, withdrawing in what seemed to be embarrassment, before awkwardly looking down and seeming ashamed. "I… I just figured… you know…"

"What is it, Silver?" she tilted her head, concerned when he didn't just straightforwardly say what was on his mind.

"…You… You're a cat."

"And?"

He once again flinched, before spreading his arms dramatically out to her, "Blaze..! Cat's… uh… they-… they hate the water! …Don't they?" this child-like innocence and care for her feelings made her step back a second, pivoting to the side as she held back her surprised chuckle a moment.

"You're surprisingly considerate." She flicked her tail and turned back to him, smiling.

This also made him stare at her a moment longer than he usually did, making her wonder what was so interesting about her response.

"Hmm?"

"Ohh,… n-nothing." He turned away, rubbing his arms and pretending it was the cold. "It's just… I know!" He wanted to tell her, originally, that he thought her smile was pleasant. He remembered how Amy looked when she was happy, and for a moment, he thought Blaze had shown him a similar, cute smile to her own.

It was lovely, seeing smiles…

But then, he changed his mind. Not wanting to alarm her into confusion by his odd phrasing about how he considered her more than most things, he decided to lead by actions and examples.

He quickly rushed to her side, taking no small lengths to show her his 'consideration' especially after such a kind response to him.

"I'll create a force around the water! We can walk under it and stay dry! After all… Uhh… You should feel more comfortable, anyway…" he turned away again, his excitement going down as he wanted to say that she should feel considered… or something. His words were scrambled in his mind, and he just decided it was better left unsaid.

Blaze blinked her eyes in yet another surprise from him. He truly seemed eager to please.

She shook her head with another smile, "You're honestly too mindful of others, Silver… but I thank you for your aid." In all manner of politeness, she took her hand to the top of his own, which had risen to create the small arched dome above them.

Immediately, his hand twitched, and he looked to her, "…Blaze?"

"T…The reflector is small. I'm just…" she turned her face away, now embarrassed and moving her hand. She tried to step away but the water spooked her and she hopped a little back to him.

"Curse this water…" she hissed slightly, but sighed and looked back to him. "May I keep my hand on your own?"

Silver hadn't meant to scare her, he was just surprised too and didn't know what it meant.

"O-oh! Forgive me, no, of course- I mean… yes please." He looked away, now there was a faint hint of pink on his muzzle.

Blaze didn't notice, but simply went to continue the previous action, and placed her hand on his own outstretched one.

They walked out and slowly began to head back to where they needed to go. After all, they could defeat and seal Iblis once and for all…. But that would be left for tomorrow.

For today… they would enjoy the last of the black rain from the soot in the air… and they would enjoy being close… under Silver's telepathic umbrella.
