Day 5: Domestic life -(Cooking, cleaning, watching a movie together, just enjoying blissful domestic life!) July 24
Prompt:
Silver braced himself. He wiggled out his arms, then tilted to crack his neck slightly from the tension building in it.
He held up his hands, using extreme caution.
"Carefully… Carefully…"
Two floating pieces of sugar drifted through the air, spinning gracefully and finally landing in a cup.
"Two… Sugars…" he smirked and let the cup drift to him, then happily went to grab it.
"Ah! Hot, hot!" The moment his gloved hands made contact with the heat, the cup began to fall, having distracted himself from his focus.
"No!" he reached out, tactically using his other hand and focusing his mind to regain emergency focus. The cup and its contents froze and floated in the air before his telepathic powers floated them up in green light that surrounded them. The cup's contents drifted and spilled elegantly back into the cup, and not a drop was lost.
"Phew…" Silver smiled, letting the corner's of his lips twitch upward some at his save.
"Still getting used to making hot drinks, Silver?"
He almost nearly spilled again, but this time, took the handle and balanced himself in the moment of his shock.
"Blaze!? I-I didn't know you were back from your mission!" he chuckled humorously, trying to distract her from his obvious naïve nature to the past's electronics.
"H-how's your dimension?" he was about to take a sip, but saw the steam and remembered it's purpose, and moved it away.
"…It misses Sonic. I guess I'm not enough anymore." She looked a little sad, moving her hand to the table and pulling the chair out, moving her tail as she sat down. "People like his flare and… charismatic demeanor. Should I smile more?"
She seemed to be joking, but Silver, being out of her range of sight, shrugged in agreeance before making his way over to her.
Clumsily, he leaned his head down and hurried to the other chair, trying to keep the cup-of-hot-death away from himself and hoping it wouldn't spill.
"I think you love your people exceptionally more than Sonic could, and understand them that much more as well." He sat down and placed the cup down, happy it was out of his way and looked back to her, "You're the greatest thing they can have right now. I'm sure they're grateful for all you do for them. After all, you leave them to protect them. I hope they understand that what's affecting our main dimension, could easily escape and leak out into theirs."
Blaze nodded, before looking to the cup he had placed down. "…What is that drink called?"
"Oh, I have no idea." Silver straightened himself up, "But Knuckles says it has one heck of a punch." He gave her a curious eye and then smiled again, taking it to try it.
Before he did, he suddenly had a realization and his eyebrows went up, placing the cup down. "Oh, I should offer you one." He put it down and began moving his hands about.
Behind her, she could hear a machine turning on, and a cup being placed under it.
She turned about and looked a bit embarrassed, "O-Oh, that's not really necessary." She turned back, shaking her hands. "I don't mean to trouble you-"
"Not at all! It's my pleasure! Please, it's fun to serve others." He carefully brought the cup to her, and as she reached for it, he floated it quickly away from her.
"Oh! Sugar! How much sugar?"
"Sugar?" she turned back to him for further clarity.
Silver nodded, excited to share something new he had learned with her. "Amy says it's a 'gentlemen's duty' to ask how much sugar." He quoted her way of explaining it and then nodded towards her to answer.
She seemed a little confused, but politely nodded back, "H-how… much did you put?"
"Two. Amy says that's quite normal so…" he looked away, "I'm simply trying to fit into a culture and time period I hardly understand… I'm mostly on my own in the future… so having friends to help me where I fall short is…" he turned back to look lovingly to Blaze, "Comforting."
Blaze felt something strong in her as if she could absolutely feel his pain and gratitude in that sentence. "…I…" she was almost at a loss of words for a moment… her empathy so strong.
"I completely understand." She took a shaky breath, before letting it out. "It is wonderful… to be in the company of friends." She then, almost regally, took the cup and held out her pinkie finger.
"Is that… part of your culture?" he mimicked the pinkie-up gesture.
"No." Blaze chuckled slightly, "Amy said a 'proper lady' should do so." She teased, "Princess and all that." She blew on the drink, seeing it was piping hot and tried to cool it down.
"Do you mind if we…" Silver excitedly picked up his own, having momentarily been lost in watching Blaze's movements and seeing the many emotions race across her face.
She was beautiful… but he also felt she understood him. And for him to be understood… well, it meant a lot to him anyway.
Especially because her words allowed him to feel it.
"Tails calls this a toast." Silver clanked his cup gently against hers, "And I toast to friends… from all different kinds of lands and borders."
"Agreed." Blaze smiled and nodded, holding up her cup as they both sipped.
"Ah~" "Emm.."
They both seemed to enjoy it.
"Not really as terrible as a punch." Blaze commented.
"But just as sweet as a moment shared with good company." His expression was pure, and it made her happy to see that some people in this world were still genuine and kind.
"Sonic has brought so many people together. From all over the cosmos…" Blaze looked up, thinking about it.
"Ah, but I brought you the hot drink." Silver tapped the side of his nose and then pointed to his accomplishment with pride, lifting his feet up and floating from the chair up into a relaxed position.
They both laughed.
